@danygraal bc it was actually an online game at first but they rushed to turn it into the fourth installment at the last minute once they saw simcity flop
@@doncarlin9081 IMO they do, it’s where sims 4 shines. The only place where it shines. The art style looks really good, and lots can look really good. The actual gameplay/sims are abysmal though. Flat, clinical feeling and souless.
i remember when they released sims 2 for free and i played it after forgetting about it for years and saw that i can choose the bedding separate from the bedframe and felt furious a game made so long ago still had a better swatch system than sims 4
I literally have no idea as to why sims 4 couldn’t have the same swatch system as the sims 2? Like how is a game made in 2004 more advanced than one made in 2014!
Its because sims 4 was supposed to be The Sims Olympus, a online game, due to the fact that it was going to be a multiplayer game, it needed to lose some features, like swatches for network issues.
I believe it is a question of quality vs quantity. TS4 chose quantity and sacrificed a ton of quality. Not just in terms of swatches and the ability to mix and match two different swatches but also in terms of animations. Haven't you noticed Sims don't even touch dressers to use them? Most objects in TS4 are static and can't be interacted with. Sims interact near objects or in front of objects but not WITH objects.
ea is a good answer. I miss the days of the old need for speeds and battlefield when they were good same with sims. Even bustin out on the consoles was a great game
the sad thing is, the kitchen island and bar that are supposed to have a matching color (since it has the same style) actually only have a very limited matching color, forcing us to use certain color swatches only
ts4 build mode makes me wanna throw up, I need build cc, the irregularities with the colors drives me insane. When I found out about ts3 create a style I almost lost my mind as to why tf its not in ts4.
It's true: TS4 excels in build mode. It's so easy to build. But that's one of the only 2 reasons I use TS4. The other one is because it's easy to create unique looking sims in CAS (something I have never been able to do in TS2, and even less in TS3). I don't really PLAY TS4. The only thing I do is create characters and houses from books I read or movies/tv series I watch and take pictures. If I really want to play, I go back to TS2.
TS4 really nailed the prevention of "same face syndrome" in sims by adding details to presets (monolids, shadows, dimples, etc...) in each facial feature.
That's because everyone complained about the frog faced townies in the Sims 2 and kept using Face type 1 or 2 all the time. I literally uploaded my simself one time and several people tried to fix my underbite as soon as they downloaded me. Why bother?
@@sleekoduck Well, I think those people would play with perfect looking sims in any Sims game. And their families would all look the same. But it's their choice. For TS2 I use the same generators that Cindy uses. Sometimes my sims are very beautiful and sometimes they are not. But that's more fun when it comes to have children. What I meant was that in TS4 it's easier to create a sim that, for example, looks like e person in a photograph. At least that's how it is for me. The fact that you can click and drag the face instead of using sliders, makes it easier to make sims exactly how you want them to be. In TS3 I find it very difficult. Even if I work hard on making their face as unique as possible, they all end up looking very similar. And in game they all look very weird, especially when they laugh or cry or get angry.
The sims in 3 look strange and I can't put my finger on why because you get so much control over their design in CAS. The faces look round and cartoonish, but they are the most realistic when you look at them. Some of the townies in 4 do not look human, not even by Walmart standards.
One thing I've noticed in the Sims 4 is that it feels like there isn't a lot interaction with object's. Like, sure you can use the dresser, but they will just stand in front of it. And even in the Sims 1 they showed you getting in a car when you left the lot, in the Sims 4, you just disappear into the void.
I always said I wanted Sims 2 with Sims 1 music, Sims 3 open world, and Sims 4 building. Take the best of each game and put it into Sims 2 *chef's kiss*
@@jdbeier8520 Sims 2 was going to have original Sims 1-ish music in the Beta search for Sims 2 upper crust They asked the Sims 1 musician for music again but Used Mark insteads
I love Sims 2 music too, whenever I hear it, it just puts me in my happy place, you know what I mean? Sims 3 guitar sheets were awesome too... I would literally make my musician Sims play "a love since forgotten" for me, over and over again... _And now I'm missing Sims 3_
Yeahh that was a big deal for me when the Sims 4 was realeased and there was no pond tool. One of the many reasons I have not bought Sims 4 I got it for free last year
@@davidsims7958 wow you're right. Thats kind of crazy its not in. I never tries to make one so I just assumed it was in because the pool tool is called "Pool & Open Water" which to me says "you can either make a pool OR free-standing water areas"
Another thing, most of the sims 3 objects/animations were taken from the sims 2, like the cheap tv, the ovens, beds, sofas, chairs, computer, plants etc - and the animations like dancing, drowning, electrocution, and interactions - but that can be excused because they needed* to focus more on expanding what they already had in the sims 2
Was Will Wright still involved when the Sims 3 came out? I thought that was Rod Humble's baby, hence the Rod Humble computers for playing the Sims 3 toward the end of the Sims 2 franchise.
There’s also some sims 3 textures and objects in the sims 4 base game. One I noticed right away was a painting that was a part of a sims 3 store pack. It’s probably done for a more practical reason, like limiting the amount of new meshes, textures, and animations they have to create, but it’s nice considering they’re all taking place in the same “universe” and add to the lore a bit.
Hey everyone! This is going to be three parts. I had more to say about the base game than I realized! Part three coming tomorrow will cover careers and CAS. Thanks for watching! EDIT: No, pools were not in the original release of TS4. I had to cut out some of my rambles for time's sake including the part where I rant about that. Also, the search bar in Sims 4 is amazing, and one of my favorite features!
Honestly sims 2 came last... But sims 2 vs sims 1 was revolutionary. Custom roofs, foundations (and decks!), modular stairs, the Catologue tool. I think sims 3 and 4 helped a lot in quality of life but we haven't seen that revolutionary change since
I learned how to build by playing the sims 2 when I was maybe 5 years old and (despite then playing sims 3 and now playing sims 4 as an adult)... I still try to delete and rebuild. I don’t understand how to make a nice roof. I spent months searching for the ‘foundation’ tool (I was Very confused when I saw builders just place walls on the ground and magically lift them.) I draw almost all my walls. I miss my best friend, auto-roof. 😩
I thought I was the only one with the problem with the foundation tool. And I have exactly all the same problems 😭 adding that I have a bad time with the half walls or fences 😓
The Sims 1 = Nostalgia. Best prank call with scary music The Sims 2 = Detail gameplay. Funny simlish The Sims 3 = Open world. Best expansion pack (generations is my favorite) The Sims 4 = Best Build mode. Worst gameplay.
I agree with the toilet paper roll thing, when the base game of the sims 3 first came, a friend of mine said "you won't belive in this! There is toilet paper roll in the game now!!!" In this time I don't even know what was cc, and I thinked this game, I have to play this game, so many realism!!!!! Hahahaha I was 11 and was a strange kid hahaha
belle.k yeah but if want the grey sofa with the blue pillows you can but in sims 4 if you have the grey sofa but they choose the pillow color so if they choose green you need to cooe with it
@@kayland.5724 Yes, much better! I'm referring to the ability to choose more than one channel in swatches - for example you can choose wood color separately from the blankets/pillows. I didn't mean number of swatches available. :)
@@kayland.5724 Yeah it is, its the most restrictive, your just stuck with what ea gave you thats lame. At least in ts2 you can switch it up and make your furniture match. ea is just lazy asf now, with all their games.
Wow I've had The sims 3 for over 8 years and I had no idea you could press Alt and move objects more freely or adjust only one part of the roof. Can't believe I never noticed lol
Something I’ve noticed, I feel like the Sims 2 objects are more detailed and have more polygons than 3, and especially 4. I don’t know what it is, but 2 seems to have a larger general scale to things. Does that make sense?
Yeah and also objects and clothing have different textures with different poly levels when you are further away. This is one of the reasons why having a lot of CC can make the game more laggy cause not all CC creators create their stuff low poly as well
The best toilet paper roll for Sims 2? Pescado's barthroomusesyou controller! Sims 2 also has keyboard shortcuts for build/buy tools. When it comes to Sims 4, you can see that it's a rushed remake of Olympus. Everything that was supposed to be in it works great in Sims 4, CaS and build/buy are top notch. The gameplay is not. Aging was not a thing in Olypmus, so they couldn't make toddlers in time. Development takes ages as the game is a poor hybrid between C++ and Python for online infrastructure sake.
@@BornToNguyen it was first version of sims 4... Sims 4 (code name during development: sims Olympus) was designed as always online game with multi-player. But after problems (read clusterf*ck) with latest simcity it was all changed... Not to mention public opinion on this topic in sims community. Long story short, it is reason why ts4 feels so unfinished even after 6 years 😉
TSR has great CC, too. I couldn't live without my laptop computer and retro typewriter in the Sims 2. I downloaded the Robber Baron and Beach sets. When the Fitch the Homeless campaign was going on, I started a Fitch the Ottomas Family campaign online. I found the outfits there, too. 😂
TS 2 and 3 have a lake tool. That is what I miss in build mode. That and the constraintevlevation cheat. I use to make arched floorings/bridges with that. And split levels. We don't have actual split levels in TS 4. Also personally I prefer buy mode in TS 2 and 3. The Sims 4 may have more items, but honestly most of those items are purely decorative, some doesnt even provide personality to the room. More often than not I find myself wondering what to do in game because there is nothing to do. Yet my room is fully decorated. It is because apart from "view" or "sit" there are no other interaction to most of the items. TS2 or 3 may have less items but those items add to the gameplay, so there is always something to do. Quantity is not always better.
I will say this: although I completely agree with you when it comes to Sims 2 being last for those categories, I find that the Buy mode for The Sims 2 basegame is the most diverse out of the three. Yes, it does have less objects and is far more restrictive, which makes it less fun to enjoy when compared to the newer games, but players I feel like were able to really go for very different house styles when it comes to decorating. This can particularly be seen in the premade neighborhoods, were there were very different styled houses like in Pleasantview the houses are more like typical suburban, Strangetown has a lot of funky lots (the Beaker's lot, the Specter lot, the Curious lot, etc) and then Veronaville has two clashing styles, one being classic european styled homes and the other being more mediterranean styled. And you know, being the Sims 2 fanatic player that I am, I'm going to give it points for that 😂
I played sims 2. For years until sims 3 came out and I play the sims 3, I love the open world and driving to community lot, I don't mind the lag much, I just love it. I'm not interested in sims 4.
I may be biased since it was the first I played but for me sims 3 also wins, I just love everything about it, it seems like it barely misses anything (let's not talk about create a sim)
I really love the flair of the sims 2 build mode. It's just so nostalgic but the fact that you have to use cheats for so many things kind of ruins it. The Sims 3 is just ok but I love a create a style. The Sims 4 is my absolute favourite in build mode especially with the new patches and updates. I can really create the houses I want. Though the Sims 2 will always be my favourite, for gameplay I will always enjoy building in the Sims 4.
seems like when they created the sims 4 out of the leftovers from the sims olympus they had a really good cas, probably a fairly decent build mode that they expanded on greatly, and threw everything out of the window cus the engine simply wasn't made for it
bea I agree. minus the color wheel, sims 4 cas and build mode are great. However the actual gameplay, especially compared to the previous games, definitely leaves something to be desired.
A lot of the woods/furniture don't match in 2 but the furniture is good enough that i don't even mind or really even notice. in sims 4, even with all EPs, there's not enough objects I like so the mismatching is much more noticeable.
Ikr it is not as annoying because TS2 has a more realistic, less cartoony art style and who actually has perfectly matching furniture in real life anyway? 😅
I like how fair you are to each game despite your personal preferences! You also showed me some build features in the Sims 3 that I didn’t know about! Thanks for the great video!
i get why everyone would think the sims 4 has the best build mode and yeah it is great but for some reason i still like the one in ts3 more. and it's not just bc of create a style, i think it feels more "weighty" and satisfying to use
I also think that technical limitations plays such a huge roll. If the Sims 2 was made today it would probably be just as good as the Sims 4 (better if it was Sims 2 team working on it) in Build/Buy. In 2020 Sims 2 (and even 3) build/buy might feel a little clunky, but it was so advanced back then. They worked with the tech options they (and their customers) had available to them and it was top notch for a game at the time. Whereas with most aspects of the Sims 4 it feels so limited because better is being done in other games. It only really shines in this regard in comparison to the Sims 2/3. Thanks for such a great video Cindy! 😀
I'm so excited to watch this! I'm new to your channel and really enjoy how thorough your content is. Personally, Sims 4 has my favorite build/buy mode (even though it's by far my least favorite game) and I really appreciate that they've recently added alt-placing doors + windows and multiple windows on each wall tile. But at the same time it did not ship with basic tools we've had since Sims 1/2 - terrain editing, pools, etc. I think TS2 and 3 have pretty comparable systems but I much prefer the art style of Sims 2 furniture, and I actually prefer the customization system over Create a Style. Create a Style is too laggy and provides way too much choice, and I find it stressful to use. Whereas in Sims 2 you had more freedom in customization than in Sims 4 but it's not as overwhelming as Sims 3. Also I don't know if it's just me but the lighting in Sims 3 is terrible! I have to place so many debug lights or else every room looks dark and has gross shadows.
I agree. The lighting is very bad in Sims 3. I also have to use tons of debug lights and the outside lighting is so harsh. I use a custom lighting mod to help with that. I've never thought of the Sims 3 create a style being stressful to use for some people, but I can see that! Thank you for sharing your take on this. :)
Also CC furniture in Sims 2 are AMAZING! People make such beautiful retextures of existing objects and then new meshes are beautiful as well. Sims 3 EA textures are often low quality in my opinion and CC isn't always much better. Sims 4 is in between, CC is amazing but EA can be downright lazy sometimes (*cough* ball pit).
@@nicche511 I agree with you! I enjoy playing around just for fun in the sims 2 because it's somehow so quick and easy whereas I take building in sims 3 very seriously since it takes so long hahah. The lightning is my biggest aesthetical complaint when it comes to sims 3, I even prefer sims 2 lighting over it... Sims 4 gets some points with vibrant colors and the final product (the houses) looking the best.
I pretty much agree with your rankings. I've recently went back to playing the Sims 3 and I forgot how much I love the color wheel. I think you saved me with the roof building function that controls the individual roofs. I was actually trying to put a roof on today and I was getting very frustrated because I was trying to lower the pitch and every section was going down. I didn't know that tool existed. I do love building in the Sims 4 because they make it so easy, but I can't say the same for the Sims 2 and 3.
Excellent points! Sims 4 definitely is a builders game. Those beautiful builds have seduced me in to play, but since I'm not a builder I go back to the Sims 2.
Sims 3 I believe also had the ability to quite literally drag the colour from one item to another for CAStyle, easily making matching woods/colour schemes etc (either just one colour/texture or the whole colour set) And the ability to save the designs/styles you've made for later use. And because all of this was implemented in game there was no need to download CC when sharing lots.
i’m surprised you didn’t mention the search option in sims 4 build and buy mode! it was my far my favorite feature along with the ability to move rooms
Sims 4 make building so easy and I prefer the more colourful and slightly cartoony art style of it to the previous games, however I do really hate not having matching swatches and not being able to change things like bed covers! Thankfully there's CC for that. First thing I do when a new pack comes out is download separate bed covers and frames lol
TS3 will always be my favourite build/buy purely because of create-a-style, but I love how early-mid 2000s TS2's furniture is. I swear my family has owned some of those couches!
I agree with your analysis. I really enjoy building in the sims 4, it’s intuitive and fun to experiment in, and a lot of the builmode updates make it even more flexible. Although I do miss create a style in the sims 3. It was probably my favorite part of that game since it ran so badly on my computer, I didn’t really play it much.
I call Sims 4 a building simulator, because it's not a very good life simulator, but I do love building in it. What I hate is I like to build neighborhoods and sims 4 limits that A LOT. In Sims 3 the ColorWheel I never really liked everything felt mismatched like when you were kid playing with toys from different sets. Everything almost felt like cc instead of maxis-match, but at least I could add garages/cars. But Sims 2 will always be my favorite even if the buy/build are the worst. :D
Some things that you missed in build mode, is that sims 2 came with the CFE cheat so you could do split level and terrain forming and ponds. Sims 4 builders complained about that for years. I also heard there are issues with trying to delete walls and having entire rooms delete.
What I miss from the Sims 2 when I build in S4 build mode is the in-house foundation thing (sorry, English is not my first language and I played in German) with which you were able to build a higher-up section in the rooms. I loved it. Also, the ability to build 5 stories instead of 3 in S4
Wow I can't believe you counted the objects manually- real dedication 🤯 Also I've been playing the sims 3 for how many years yet today I learnt that you could use the ALT key when placing objects 🥴
i'm not the best builder (I have gotten better while playing ts4) but when i was playing ts3 i just really enjoyed having the color wheel to be able to customize premade builds and objects to fit the sims i was playing.
I thought this was a really fair comparison and I understand your final ranking even though I miss the colour wheel of Sims 3, create a pond tool of Sims 2 and 3 and the different swatch areas in Sims 2. ✨ Building and CAS (only for appearance, not personality) is the reason I use Sims 4 but I never life simulate with it, since I just recreate my favourite characters from fandoms, their houses and world in different maps and end up leaving their gameplay a couple days after I set up skills and jobs.
Packs are where you can see the effort the Sims team put into buy mode. The collection section in TS2 greatly expands with each pack adding at least three, even small stuff packs. On the other hand, each pack in TS4 barely added one object collection. LGR points this out by counting just the number of chairs in each pack...
I've heard someone else say this too and I never considered it because I love having all the options. I can definitely understand that though. Thank you for sharing! 💙💙
Omg I remember playing the sims 4 not knowing that toddlers were not in the game yet. When my baby aged up, I actually freaked out seeing a full grown child jump out of the bassinet lol 😳
CaS almost makes me pick sims 3 over sims 2 for overall fave sometimes. That feature plus the general scenery are just phenomenal. Being able to have all of my sims’ possessions be personalized was so great. As a vanilla player who’s _still_ kinda scared of mods and cc after a really traumatic (😅) cc incident I experienced over a decade ago when I was new to sims 2, I can’t tell you how frustratingly boring giving my sim babies the same blue, yellow, or pink cribs over and over again is. The other native color options for cribs are too stupid to even entertain save for once in the bluest of bored moons. Literally I’ve only used the cow, camo, and alien sets once each. Anyway, wonderful video! I’m now curious to check how many items came with sims 1. Thank you for the effort you put into making this. Counting all of those objects to me is just... 🤯.
My favorite addition in TS4 buy mode I dont think you touched on was the search bar. Being able to just type in "paper" and finding your toilet paper is soooo nice.
I agree with your rankings, the colour wheel was such a delightful thing to use. Even though we didn't have that many objects, when you can change everything but the shape, it feels like a world of options. You can use the same objects in two different rooms and get a totally different vibes just from the colours.
I agree with the ranking even tho i am a hardcore Sims 2 fan lol But i only wish you mentiomed how swatch system was better in the Sims 2 then 4 and how using create a style in Sims 3 made a game a bit laggy so it is not the bast idea to overuse the feature.
I also distinctly remember that the quartertile placement cheat in the Sims 2 came with the very last Stuff Pack "Mansion and Garden Stuff", before that you had to use "boolprop snapobjectstogrid false" (or something like that) which made the ground slippery as heck and was a pain to use because you had to deactivate it for windows and doors, and chairs lest they wouldn't be accepted by the table.
i'm loving this content cindy! i got totally hooked from your Sims 3 series and then love revisiting Sims 2 (my favorite childhood game) with each twitch stream :') you're awesome and i'm so excited seeing your channel grow
Nowadays I barely even play Sims 4 as a game, I mainly have fun with CAS and Build and Buy mode (with cc added). Whereas when I play Sims 3 I barely touch Build and Buy mode, but am content to play with the ugliest looking and unfinished buildings just because the game itself brings in all the fun.
Sims 3 has my favourite build/buy mode. So much so that I have been playing sims 3 over sims 4. My sims 4 is messed up and unplayable from a previous patch and the most recent patch.
I agree totally with your rankings, but EA need to still take note that a great build mode doesn't make a great game. Sims 2 wins hands down in terms of gameplay
Well, in my opinion, the sims 4 does have a really good CAS and Buy/Build Mode with few exceptions like missing the colour wheel,auto-roof, cars and garages. But that's really it, it's great for building, decorating and making sims, not play with them. Also, basements were patched in the base game in sims 3 because of the first expansion they made, sims 3 adventures. They needed basements to store nectar, it would barely age (if not at all, I forgot the numbers) at ground/0 level. And you can drag the stairs in sims 3 too, giving you the possibility to make them 2-3-5 even 10 tiles long. You had the option to put rails in middle or on the sides.
I've been playing Sims 3 again for about 2 months now and I had no idea about the create a style, I thought the CAS that people talk about the Sims 3 is create a sim 😂 I'm so gonna spend a lot more time decorating.
Well, not to be unpopular but sims 4 has a very easily accessible galery that let's you download all the houses you want without downloading custom content or exiting your game. Also, sims 4 basement tool is pretty dope imo
Life simulation: TS2 wins Dollhouse making simulation: TS4 wins TS3 is very beautiful as well and the diversity of choices and actions makes it an amazing life simulation as well, but TS2 has my heart forever.
I got the Sims 3 for the first time last month but I haven't played it much because I'm saving up to get Generations and Supernatural and it's kind of overwhelming since there's a lot of stuff to do in comparison to Sims 4. However I find the Sims 4 build mode easiest to use (Sims 3 foundations are HARD) and the buy mode is good, just there are items that don't show up a lot (such as the surfaces, hutches that come with Cats & Dogs and Realm of Magic)
I heard there is some kind of hidden painting and music skills in sims 2, so your sim that has been playing piano whole life will struggle a little with their first paintings (well, as much as they can struggle while still being pretty high level, so they won't start with masterpieces). I ain't too sure about that tho cuz I heard it like once or twice and never checked myself.
there is a hidden painting skill but not a hidden music skill. Virginia Feng (in my game) is still terrible at playing the piano despite her master artwork.
I enjoy making houses in all 4 sims games, but the Create a Style tool really does improve your playing experience by giving houses/clothing a personal touch to really match your sim perfectly. I always love your videos like this and look forward to the next one!
That ‘moving windows and doors anywhere’ thing WOULD be good, except the windows and doors don’t actually work properly. They clip into the walls when you have another one on the same grid tile and you can’t see through them. It sounds like a good feature but it isn’t.
I'm the opposite, I can build almost anything in the sims 2 (except for a basement, I still have trouble with that) but the Sims 4 boggles my mind, it's almost like it's on autocorrect and changes what I'm trying to build.
I'm the complete opposite. My Sims 3 and 2 builds look amazing and dropped Sims 4 after around 20 hours of playtime. Not only was I bored, the buildings all looked weird and there was no space to freely build anyway.
As i've commented in the other video, the Build/Buy mode is where 4 really excels. The possibilities are really endless. Expecially after the latest patches, the moveobject cheat and the debug objects the only limit is your creativity and the boundaries of your lot. Also worth mentioning, just like for the CaS, tye addition of the Gallery was one of the greatest thing they could've done, it connects the whole community together. P.S. also TS4 allows you to search for items and that alone makes it better than 2 and 3.
Yes, I agree with your analysis. Really well done Btw. The sims 2 games used a simple template for the future that is today. I lost hours of fun building homes in S2, mainly due to the challenge then annoyance, and this is pretty realistic if you are designing a house in real life. In construction, a building needs to be accurate for it to happen. If mistakes do occur, the general rule is ripping it down and reset. You can't just move a whole room (S4), or drag walls to suit (S3). When I want to build a house in S2, I find a floor plan that matches the layout best with grids in-game and start building. Sometimes I make mistakes, sometimes it can't fit, and I'll start again on a bigger lot size. Having a grid-by-grid formula doesn't bother for if the shell of the house can be made, then you've won half the battle. Also, building got easier if you found a house with a similar shape design in the house bins. Making it more fun to tear down and build up.
What annoys me soo much about TS4 buy and build mode is the way the colour swatching works. By just seeing a tiny square you can't know how the full object will look. Like with some objects the tiny square is just one colour but but other parts of the object will also switch to a colour that was not displayed in the tiny square. You only find that out once the object is actually moved to the lot. And switching between colours againto see what you might like is just soo tiring. I loved how TS2 showed the full final look of the object already when deciding between the colours!
the thing I miss the most from the older Sims games is the constrainfloorelevation on/off cheat. I used it all the time to attach garages to houses with foundations, split level homes, etc.
My dream game: Sims 2 Game play with sims 3 color wheel and open world and sims 4 build mode.....too much to ask for?? Lol I am enjoying hearing your opinions on this subject. And pretty much agree ❤👍🏻💜
I'm almost exactly the same. I want Sims 2 gameplay, Sims 3 create a style (only optimized and less laggy) and Sims 4 build mode. The only thing I don't care about is open world. I could handle open neighborhoods like in Sims 4 if they gave me better gameplay.
Remember last year when the sims 4 community got excited over a white shelf?

Yes. Totally good point. Allowing to mix and match, so you were not stuck with a specific color combination

Most objects in TS4 are static and can't be interacted with. Sims interact near objects or in front of objects but not WITH objects.
ea is a good answer. I miss the days of the old need for speeds and battlefield when they were good same with sims. Even bustin out on the consoles was a great game
Remember gravity? It was so great when Sims could take out the composting and gravity would apply to the bags they were carrying.
Sims 4 furniture feels so random. It’s like “ there you are guys, you have cool furniture you can randomly recolor huh?”
That's a great way to put it! Nothing goes together and it's maddening!
It feels very bland and generic to me
the sad thing is, the kitchen island and bar that are supposed to have a matching color (since it has the same style) actually only have a very limited matching color, forcing us to use certain color swatches only
ts4 build mode makes me wanna throw up, I need build cc, the irregularities with the colors drives me insane.
TRamp94 That’s exactly how I play as well.
Petition for sims 5 not to happen but sims 2 remastered instead!
HECK YEAH
I always said I wanted Sims 2 with Sims 1 music, Sims 3 open world, and Sims 4 building. Take the best of each game and put it into Sims 2 *chef's kiss*
jdbeier8520 yessss
@@jdbeier8520 Sims 2 was going to have original Sims 1-ish music in the Beta search for Sims 2 upper crust
They asked the Sims 1 musician for music again but Used Mark insteads
I love Sims 2 music too, whenever I hear it, it just puts me in my happy place, you know what I mean?
Sims 3 guitar sheets were awesome too... I would literally make my musician Sims play "a love since forgotten" for me, over and over again...
_And now I'm missing Sims 3_
Played 5 minutes of the sims 4 today and immediately went back to sims 3! Sims 3 my favourite
So you looked at the loading screen and never went back? 🤔
If you have an up to date gaming computer, you can run sims3 with expansion packs without any issues. Loading screen takes 2 mins for me.
@@4O4Hime I am sure she meant 5 minutes of gameplay lol. Loading screens don't count as playing.
On my new desktop, I installed Sims 3 with all the packs and dlc, didn't even bother to install Sims 4 on it.
Same I played sims 4 for like 10 minutes because I got bored then I continued to play Sims 3 for 5 hours lmao
One thing you didn't talk about was the terrain tool per se, the hability to create pounds in the sims 2 and 3 and the height of the ground!
Its in TS4 also
Yeahh that was a big deal for me when the Sims 4 was realeased and there was no pond tool. One of the many reasons I have not bought Sims 4 I got it for free last year
sradac yes but no pounds
@@davidsims7958 wow you're right. Thats kind of crazy its not in. I never tries to make one so I just assumed it was in because the pool tool is called "Pool & Open Water" which to me says "you can either make a pool OR free-standing water areas"
And floor limits 😔 I haven't tried since long ago so may be that was fixed but sims 4 floor building limits got me off
Another thing, most of the sims 3 objects/animations were taken from the sims 2, like the cheap tv, the ovens, beds, sofas, chairs, computer, plants etc - and the animations like dancing, drowning, electrocution, and interactions - but that can be excused because they needed* to focus more on expanding what they already had in the sims 2
Yes, that's true! I actually like that they used some of the same items, but that may be just because I love Sims 2 so much.
It actually was thanks to Will Wright for objects from ts2 being in ts3. That was one of his conditions about ts3. Sorry for my eng
Was Will Wright still involved when the Sims 3 came out? I thought that was Rod Humble's baby, hence the Rod Humble computers for playing the Sims 3 toward the end of the Sims 2 franchise.
Sleekoduck yes he wasn’t involved, but his opinion was important still.
The sims 4 is pretty "like that girl who used to bully you in highschool and now she sells weight loss MLM tees on facebook"
Cindy, 2020... Golden.
Love these comparisons, but sims 3 will forever have my ♡♡♡
It's a very good game and I love playing it!
Sims 2 Personality +Sims 3 Color Wheel+Sims 4 CAS=🤩
That would be the dream game!! I can't believe they didn't make the Sims 4 like this. Seems a lost opportunity.
I'm excited already, I wanna see this battle hahahaha
In the end you have to do an overall graded opinion with the three games.
Expansions!!! What about expansions?? This could be so great because I don't play Sims 2 and would like to see what I have been missing.
Same but I've done heavy research... here's a recommendation though, check out the Sims 2 text tutorials.
Bring it on, mama! We want more!
No one should dislike this video imagine if you had to count all the base game items
LOL. IT WAS NOT FUN!
The punishment for dislikes should be counting every item in The Sims 4’s Buy Mode.
Honestly sims 2 came last... But sims 2 vs sims 1 was revolutionary.
Custom roofs, foundations (and decks!), modular stairs, the Catologue tool. I think sims 3 and 4 helped a lot in quality of life but we haven't seen that revolutionary change since
I agree completely!
sims 3 will always come out on top for me I think no sims game will over top ts3 or even ts2
Also the sims 4 added a search bar in build and buy mode!
It did! I thought I covered that in the video but I must have left it out somehow! That's one of my favorite things about b/b in Sims 4!
I had no idea Sims 3 has blueprints. That saved my life because I'm not a builder and I also don't know how to decorate
I learned how to build by playing the sims 2 when I was maybe 5 years old and (despite then playing sims 3 and now playing sims 4 as an adult)...
I still try to delete and rebuild.
I don’t understand how to make a nice roof.
I spent months searching for the ‘foundation’ tool (I was Very confused when I saw builders just place walls on the ground and magically lift them.)
I draw almost all my walls.
I miss my best friend, auto-roof. 😩
I remember in sims 2 just staring at a lot wondering if I want to start with a foundation or not. Cause there's no going back once you start.
I thought I was the only one with the problem with the foundation tool. And I have exactly all the same problems 😭 adding that I have a bad time with the half walls or fences 😓
Magalí Gómez omg Im so happy we’re not alone - struggling builders unite 😩😩😩
why is this me Lol
I have the same problem with the foundation tool everytime I play I keep searching for it
When Cindy pulled out that anti-MLM comment, my relationship meter went 😊++.
The Sims 1 = Nostalgia. Best prank call with scary music
The Sims 2 = Detail gameplay. Funny simlish
The Sims 3 = Open world. Best expansion pack (generations is my favorite)
The Sims 4 = Best Build mode. Worst gameplay.
Sims 3 or 2 theme song starts playing ...

LOL. That's so funny! We go crazy over toilet paper!
@@PleasantSims now I go crazy about parking space too hahahahah
you mean toilet paper roll?
@@ZuzannaFavesDie yes
So, you are saying sims 2 knew there will be no toilet paper anymore ? 🤔
But in sims2 was a the separate swatches like pillows ore bed sheets....
Yes, that's true! That was much better than the Sims 4 version of swatches.
Pleasant Sims much better? Aren't there like 3 swatches for the cover/ comforters? Sims 4 is *not* that bad
belle.k yeah but if want the grey sofa with the blue pillows you can but in sims 4 if you have the grey sofa but they choose the pillow color so if they choose green you need to cooe with it
@@kayland.5724 Yes, much better!
Bro same it's such a game changer when I'm using coffee tables or building mega bunkers.
Something I’ve noticed, I feel like the Sims 2 objects are more detailed and have more polygons than 3, and especially 4. I don’t know what it is, but 2 seems to have a larger general scale to things. Does that make sense?
They do have a higher poly count. In 4, objects on average are made of 250 triangles; in 3 it's 380; and in 2 it's 510.
Evan K
Yes! I constantly notice that the textures seem really detailed for sims 2 objects and even the flooring.
Yes TS4 objects are low poly and that's why i personally think they don't convert well to TS2, very different style and not enough detail
For me Sims 3 objects are the ones that look the better. The worst ones are Sims 4
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing that! I agree build/buy and CAS are awesome but that's where it ends.
What is olympus?
And you know, being the Sims 2 fanatic player that I am, I'm going to give it points for that 😂
I love the sims 2, but the sims 3 is my favorite. The sims 4 I never liked
!
I love Sims 2 and Sims 3 - I've been playing a lot more Sims 3 lately too! :)
@@PleasantSims a perfect mix of both sims 2 and 3 would be godlike.
@@-mae-5524 I agree! :D
Sims 2 characters be like: "I want to be a painter so can you buy me a piano, please?"
Forreal, it was funny 😂😂
I had a bad day, but watching Cindy all smilies and happy makes me feel so much better. ☺️
Thanks so much! Glad to help you have a better day! 🤗
Pleasant Sims No need to thank you me, you’re just a ray of sunshine. 😊
seems like when they created the sims 4 out of the leftovers from the sims olympus they had a really good cas, probably a fairly decent build mode that they expanded on greatly, and threw everything out of the window cus the engine simply wasn't made for it
bea I agree. minus the color wheel, sims 4 cas and build mode are great. However the actual gameplay, especially compared to the previous games, definitely leaves something to be desired.
I will admit the search feature is amazing and I hope they never change it
SAME!!
A lot of the woods/furniture don't match in 2 but the furniture is good enough that i don't even mind or really even notice. in sims 4, even with all EPs, there's not enough objects I like so the mismatching is much more noticeable.
Well at least we can change the wood on the furniture in the Sims 2...
Ikr it is not as annoying because TS2 has a more realistic, less cartoony art style and who actually has perfectly matching furniture in real life anyway? 😅
I like sims 3 the most but would benefit from some of the tools in sims 4 (eg move whole lot/house/room without having to dismantle).
I found out about blueprints the same way lmao
It's not very clear at all until you accidentally click it. LOL
I thought I was the only hysterical about no toilet paper 😂🚽💕💕💕
Glad I'm not alone! LOL
8:41 Mismatched wood? I FELT THAT
Sims 3 I believe also had the ability to quite literally drag the colour from one item to another for CAStyle, easily making matching woods/colour schemes etc (either just one colour/texture or the whole colour set) And the ability to save the designs/styles you've made for later use.
Lol. Sims 2 is still my favorite game too!
Some things that you missed in build mode, is that sims 2 came with the CFE cheat so you could do split level and terrain forming and ponds. Sims 4 builders complained about that for years. I also heard there are issues with trying to delete walls and having entire rooms delete.
10:51 i see u throwing shade at somebody 😂
😆 😆 😆
Also Sims 2 has amazing mods now, objects from the other games can easily be found on mod sites.
I played sims 2 yesterday lmao. There's still fresh cc!
i'm not the best builder (I have gotten better while playing ts4) but when i was playing ts3 i just really enjoyed having the color wheel to be able to customize premade builds and objects to fit the sims i was playing.
I thought this was a really fair comparison and I understand your final ranking even though I miss the colour wheel of Sims 3, create a pond tool of Sims 2 and 3 and the different swatch areas in Sims 2. ✨
Building and CAS (only for appearance, not personality) is the reason I use Sims 4 but I never life simulate with it, since I just recreate my favourite characters from fandoms, their houses and world in different maps and end up leaving their gameplay a couple days after I set up skills and jobs.
although there's no color wheel in sims 4 i appreciate the search bar in buy mode so much
I love how much customization TS3 furniture had.
I love how you look at the base game, not assuming that we’re all rich and can afford the packs, unlike other sims channels
Packs are where you can see the effort the Sims team put into buy mode. The collection section in TS2 greatly expands with each pack adding at least three, even small stuff packs. On the other hand, each pack in TS4 barely added one object collection. LGR points this out by counting just the number of chairs in each pack...
I love the build and buy in the Sims 4 the most, it's te easiest for me to handle and in the Sims 3 I was always a bit overwhelmed by the colourwheel
I've heard someone else say this too and I never considered it because I love having all the options. I can definitely understand that though. Thank you for sharing! 💙💙
I mean it would be nice if it was a bit less to choose from or if you could just delete the prints you don't want
17:50 This was also in Sims 2. I use it all the time.
I think this came with the mansion and garden stuff pack though (so quite late in the game's commercial life), she was talking about base game only

I see. Thanks. I was a bit confused.
You are 100% right on this Cindy, can't wait for part 3! Btw I subscribed after part 1, very objective and insightful review 😄
Thank you! 🙂
I agree with the ranking even tho i am a hardcore Sims 2 fan lol
But i only wish you mentiomed how swatch system was better in the Sims 2 then 4 and how using create a style in Sims 3 made a game a bit laggy so it is not the bast idea to overuse the feature.
Thanks so much sofia!
Build mode in Sims 4 is amazing. Only thing I am sad about is no more round pools and fountains. That was my favorite. in previous games.
Omg no way you just posted this , isaw the other vid last night and now this, content>>> && im subbing

Dollhouse making simulation: TS4 wins
TS3 is very beautiful as well and the diversity of choices and actions makes it an amazing life simulation as well, but TS2 has my heart forever.

It sounds like a good feature but it isn’t.
seasons introduced rugs! I remember because I would install seasons every time, not only because of the weather, but because of the rugs too!
I can not build well in sims 2 or 3 at all. I’m not amazing in 4 but at least I can make a somewhat decent house.
I like that it's easy for almost anyone to make nice builds in Sims 4 and the tools are really a dream to use. :)
I just started playing Sims3 after maaaaany years since I played Sims1, thanks for the videos! I like you!
I literally watched part 1 this morning and was getting excited for part 2! Perfect for watching before going to sleep!
Love your content
Thank you for watching! Glad you liked it!
I just found your videos love the comparison video! Btw I like your accent🤭 greetings from The Netherlands😘
Thanks for watching! Hello to the Netherlands!
Props for the hard work you put out on this.
The thing I miss the most is the pond tool and of course the color wheel from the sims 3. Why would they get rid of that😩
My dream game: Sims 2 Game play with sims 3 color wheel and open world and sims 4 build mode.....too much to ask for?? Lol
I am enjoying hearing your opinions on this subject.
Yea...I think you're right. The loading screens between neighborhoods wouldn't bother me so much if the game play was really good.
