woke up to a multitude of comments talking about Dragoneer's recent passing. i don't plan to make a full-length video about it, so i'll just say this here.
i personally find gravedancing pretty distasteful, so i would ask you all to refrain from celebrating his recent passing in my comments. i have my gripes with quite a few of his actions online, but to pass away due to getting screwed over by the healthcare system is pretty unreservedly horrific.
I was so shocked when i found out too. It's sad to know the news. Rip Dragoneer

I've struggled with making friends, being comfortable with myself in social settings and jealousy of not being part of the group.
But then I turned 16 and realized that I have to make an effort to be part of the group. That means being nicer and more social, not creeping people out with how intense (Aka shy and reserved) I can be and overall, learning social skills that don't really make sense to me but make sense to society as a whole.
You can't be mad that people aren't including you in the group if you're not making effort to be part of the group!
Then again, as my grandma said to me before I entered high school, "People don't have to like you. They should be nice to you, but they don't have to enjoy being around you. And that's their right."
I completely agree with you, but it cannot be understated that the halo effect is an actual thing and even if you make an effort to be part of a group, that doesn't mean they'll accept you, that doesn't mean that they're nice people themselves and that doesn't mean that they're not toxic or cliquish. If they're not receptive to your social attempts, they're probably not worth it themselves.
Unless you want a commission with them that's all they fuckn care about. Soon you will find out who's toxic or not. There's toxic furries that claim to be friendly but they're not soo.

Same for any other terms of use violation on FurAffinity, actually. Dragoneer's friends get to violate the rules (and unevenly enforce them, as most of the moderation/admin teams are solely Dragoneer's friends given positions of power and influence), everyone else gets slammed in the head with the banhammer.
Heck, size-difference pictures aren't safe, as there's a history of adult characters with significant size differences getting the artist(s) warned or outright banned. Beastars art could theoretically get someone banned if it was Haru x Legoshi, since Haru looks like a teeny tiny little baby rabbit compared to Giant Gray Wolf Boyfriend Legoshi.

I did accidentally manage to add Toumal (Owner/Admin of Sofurry, formerly YiffStAr) on Steam, but we never talk. It is nice to know Toumal hasn't (As far as I know) been involved in any degeneracy or controversy. Seems it's always canines and dragons involved in the worst stuff (Pedophilia and Bestiality ala Kero The Wolf and Growly, etc.). Haven't ever heard of a person with an Orca sona getting pinched between controversy and drama.

That they used an actual raccoon to base him upon was a wonderful touch, as was his refusal to wear shoes, which would have gotten in the way of his own natural agility and climbing ability. It was shocking hearing Bradley Cooper's voice come out of that mouth, though, but I understand James wanting to make the character sound tough, as Rocket has had quite the rough life in his MCU background and in the comics.

I think it's okay to talk about how the US Healthcare system is fucked and his passing is so tragic because this can happen to anyone without health insurance and acknowledging that Dragoneer was a terrible person who enabled zoophiles and pedos on his furry website can be statements that co-exist. His family have my condolences (they likely didn't even know about his gross contributions) but I side eye anyone who thinks that even mentioning his controversies because "it's too soon" is grossly underestimating what he did. “What he did” was struggling to run a community that was also stabbing him in the back most of the times. Like, dude the website is half community run half moderator run. Most of the people I’ve seen talking about zoos and pedos on furaffinity barely even report those instances, and then just slam the mods and owner anyway. Which is ironic cuz that doesn’t happen on other platforms, and people ACTUALLY report those types of people instead of complaining.
Literally I reported a guy who drew full on shotacon, and didn’t think it was wrong. So he got temp banned twice, before clearing his gallery to “stay safe” since FA works on a three warning system like most sites do.
Plus this shows another problem of people like you not realizing there are zoos and pedos everywhere. Blaming the people who run whatever sites doesn’t help the problem, instead we should blame zoos/pedos for thinking they’re safe on certain places.
i remember the one time i got mass blocked by Dragoneer
after telling him about how a user has been stalking me for a decade on his site and how his mods didnt do shit about it, other than banning me

Here’s the thing with Dragoneer: Popufurs come first. Always have, always will. They bring in the clickbait’s, they get people to the conventions so their fans can buy their artwork. Dragoneer will gladly cover up a rape, a grooming incident, or anything bad that affects a popufur. To him, they’re $$$. If he bans them or pisses them off; they’ll probably flee to SoFurry or somewhere else and FA will lose traffic.
Hey, I even go to theme parks when it rains. I don't let that stop my fun. Plus the park will be almost empty while I feel the wind and rain at high speed on a coaster!

Dragoneer is the type of person that is, at their core not a bad human being...but their character traits make it way too easy for them to fall into dark rabbit holes or make decisions that will haunt them to their grave and ultimately means that even if they did "mean to do good", their actions and decisions are anything but.
He wants to please people and belong to groups, be friends with everyone and be approachable. Thats why he fell into the cub trap and became easily manipulated by former friends/partners. He wants to avoid drama and keep it off his site to keep "the fandom together" even if that means defending criminals and blaming (potential) victims, trying to shush it off FA and onto other places.
People called him a sociopath before, I honestly think he's just a weak-willed person with low social skills that makes it easy for others with stronger, more aggressive personalities and less scruple to manipulate him like a puppet.

Legit I have never had a good time with FA. My first follower was an open pedophile, a man in his late 20's with a teenage boy that was 15. They were openly dating, had photos of each other irl together and their ages on FA, as well as their fursonas drawn together doing....adult things. I contacted FA's staff and was hit with a, "Well, it's technically legal for an adult and minor to date as long as it's not sexual, we can't prove any sexual behaviors." I was genuinely FLOORED by that response. FA has been pure digust in my eyes since that interaction with their staff.
What the actual hell; those staff members clearly need to get put on a list, investigated and all their devices confiscated.

Man I just created my account on March this year, today I got a hold of all the mess on FA... It's very controversial to talk about someone like him after his passing, like he was in a difficult situation but it doesn't mean he's forgiven of what he's done.

I can understand why someone would not like Uncle Kage. He is quite toxic to the Fandom. He is a known alcoholic who openly prays on young furs that are of collage age to support his drinking habit where he his self makes well into the six figure range. He also goes to others furcons and undermines that cons staff then badmouths them for making him stop. I would not have the slightest problem if he snuck into the shadows and stayed out of public sight.
I had a cousin who always felt like we were not including her and leaving her out no matter what we all did to make her not feel that way. She ended up committing suicide the day after our Grandfather died. I miss her a lot and wonder still what I could have done to make her feel more included but I doubt I could have done anything. I don’t think her feeling like that had anything to do with us because I could drag her along and she would pout quietly and not play with my cousins and I. This guy reminds me of that.

Keeping tabs on everyone just to make sure they're not doing something without you and magically showing up to stuff they did without telling you? Isn't it just as likely that they did not like him and that's why they didn't tell him about it? You should be gentle with people like this, feeling like you alone are not wanted in places is the worst thing in the world. Like you're just somebody that people tolerate. It's easier for you to talk about if you have friends who think of you and care about you but it seems like this guys "friends" (and yeah if they are being this left out I'm going to put my foot down and say they aren't real friends) didn't care for him at all. Why put that on the guy being left out? It sounds like guilt to me, people know they don't really like and try to include the guy yet they mock him from up high for being upset about it.

i get people didn't like the guy (i'm not 100% clear why outside of the admin he let back on the site who shouldn't have been there & that he tried to hide. at this point there's nothing for me to gain from knowing more imo) but, regardless of that, i think it also needs to be said that dragoneer and his site was 1000% a huge part of why furry is where it is right now regardless of how messed up he may or may not have been. i cannot tell you how many people i have met in this fandom started out on FA, and not just people who were kids just drawing beginner art. he had a massive impact that i want to say was good for the majority of people in this community. you don't have to have wanted anything to do with him to be able to acknowledge that, i think. and i think also acknowledging the good someone did, especially at times like now, is also more than appropriate.
no one deserves to die to the system the way he did no matter what anyone thought of him as a person. if you live in the USA, this could have been you, too. it could have been any of us. it could be any of us next! there's not any joy to be found in this. i don't get anyone celebrating this proof of how not ok things are regardless of who it happened to. people cheering on his death have a braincell count that is somehow into the negatives.

But I forgave him because if I was in the car, and died. My fiancé would forgive him…but the guilt was too much and he took his own life. I loved Zido like a brother. His widow is a brother to me.
It pains me to see his name here…but he said and did those things. I just want others to know what else he was to the community. A brother, A husband, and a best friend

While I do like Fur Affinity as a website, I am starting to lose respect for Dragoneer now. I actually do have a Fur Affinity account (RattataPrincess2007), but it is currently banned until I turn 18 (which isn't until October 2025). I might even consider making my own art website (which I will call Flashmouse) where zoophiles, pedophiles, and other awful people will not be tolerated.

I got my content banned because I made a minecraft skin by hand that someone was charging for on FA and posted a template for anyone to use freely.
I did have prior knowledge of them charging, I just thought synths were free to make so I made the skin, then I got hit by a warning and my account was suspended.
