I remember looking up to their art so much back in the PMD explorers days. Back then I had no idea how messed up it really was. It's always painful to find out one of your favourite artists is actually a terrible person, I still love their style but it feels wrong to be inspired by it.
They went from being so productive that they were drawing for so many hours a day they risked permenant wrist injury to not producing anything for 6+ months.

Fun fact not long after PK linked to their nsfw tumblr a huge nsfw fad surfaced within the group, and a TON of group members (many of which were minors) started running nsfw tumblrs and drawing adult content of their characters (many of which were minors). As a late teen/young adult who was fairly immature for their age I never liked this fad, but always felt like a prude and a loser for not taking part in it, and the way the admins shamed those who questioned their adult content didn't help. Peer pressure is fucked, and I'm certain the whole situation affected other artists in the group the same way it did me, I just hope they're doing better too.

PMD-Explorers was a masterpiece and through its community, PK and crew affected my life more than I could ever record in a TH-cam comment. My username oughta be testament to that. It still breaks my heart to this day that she turned out to be this... monster :'(
From personal experience, I was one of the people who stumbled across her their webcomic. I was enamored by the colors and the detailed painting and whimsical character design when I was 11 only to find their NSFW content directly linked and encouraged to go to on the regular comic's site. Whether intentional or not, Glip exposed me to NSFW content as a minor and twisted my understanding of consent and fetishes through what was practically advertising of her NSFW content.
shame GlitchedPuppet was such a great artist too... even inspired me to continue to draw more while I was reading floraverse as a kid... just... damn...
i found out about gp through Pengo. Pengo got harassment and death threats for years from gp's fanbase. GP also very obviously ripped off some of pengos characters and music style (very badly mimiced) after the fallout. Pengo doesnt like it being brought up to them and just wants it behind them. I assume the 'its all good dont worry' was an attempt to get the rabid fans off of them.
Pengo is now in cahoots with glitch and I think dating them and helping glitch to abuse people. For fucks sake pengo was my inspiration as a teen. Tf happened.
Unfortunately PengoSolvent is now involved with Glitch again. No idea why they went back to them, with all the abuse they endured and Glitch threatening to SUE Pengo for the callout they made. But from what ive seen, Pengo looks like to be part of Glitch's circle of friends again... Im very sad and disappointed about it, to put it lightly. Because I actually LIKED Pengo's art and music. They were a huge inspiration to me for years. Now they seem to be sucked into the cycle of abuse once again. They're starting to act like an abrasive jerk too, similar to Glitch. At this point, I just hope they don't get any ideas about 'involving' themselves with kids and animals.

@@HurricaneBady I looked into it and read the google doc on marl, they reconnected for closure and healing at reccomendation by a therapist after pk divorced marl. Which i think is reasonable and good for healing. They incuded logs that incriminate them(pengo) with explaination and regret, so I will take it as real action to heal and be better. Rather then fall into the depravity marl surronded himself with. Pengo seems to believe PK is innocent and all crime was due to the manipulation by marl, which could be true, but those crimes are still henious and i wouldnt say pk is 100% innocent. 10 years being in a relationship with a man that bad though, I get it (starting when they are a minor themself). Hopefully with the divorce PK is also trying to be better since they were also groomed by him, but they have much worse crimes to forgive. I dont care enough abt pk to look into that though. I hope they do for the sake of them and the people they interact with. Marl being cut off takes away a lot of his power to hurt people at the very least, considering he used pks name to solicite minors.

I've had some interaction with their work and groups in the past. I used to be a part of PMDE before it went to shit, and at one point I accidentally stumbled upon the fanfic of N and Ghetsis. Morbid curiosity got the best of me and I read it. For anyone wondering: It was terrible. Can't really expect much from someone like this, but Jesus H. Christ, I wanted to throw up the last supper reading it, it was horrid. I don't know if it's up anymore, and I'm not gonna check. Their art style also reminds me of an e621 creator by the name of Grimart. Hope they're not the same person, Grim's comics are actually pretty good, albeit a bit... dark.
My first and only impression of Melanie's art so far has been floraverse and it sucks (understatement I know) to come across all this controversy the instant I look up their name. The sfw comic is has beautiful art, charming characters and a fascinating fictional world. I feel that this video's summary of the plot does the webcomic a disservice... There's very strong evidence to the importance of seeds in the chapters about the denizens of hell fighting off a magical plague. The bird and her water elemental friend had this seed that when you plant it sprouts a creature that eats everything nearby before becoming docile. This is the same plant-creature that supposedly is great at purifying soil, which helped fight off the plague. I'm sure there are plenty of other important seeds in that bag. The point is, taken in isolation the floraverse comic is beautiful and fascinating, and it's a shame to hear so much awful stuff about this person. I like to separate the art from the artist but it's getting harder and harder to do the more I learn about this artist. I'm on an emotional rollercoaster and I want to get off.

I remember as a kid of around 13-14 trying to get into PMD-Explorers right as the drama surrounding PK was unfurling. I didn’t understand a lot of what was going on but i never eventually took part in the rp group.
I like that "Hey Alexa, what is violence?" and the response, got me to laugh out loud. Anyhow, it's fascinating getting to know these other artists' origin stories. I may be losing sanity while listening, too, I'm not sure. Never thought I would find furry drama interesting at all but...
Somehow, I've heard of that name, and I am nowhere close to any of these fandoms. Just read a hefty chunk of Floraverse yesterday. Personally, I've enjoyed the story's chaotic twists and turns, but to hear that they've never really cleared anything up sucks. Guess I'll finish the chapter I'm reading and call it that. Dissapointing to hear that they don't know how to handle themselves. I'll still use the art and music as inspiration though. It's some really fantastic stuff. Real shame about the person.
I remember purplekeckleon from the deviantart days - their colour palettes and colourtheory was SO GOOD, their art always looked amazing so they were super poular - only for all this to unfold :( It was super sad

I was an active member of PMDE in high school and I really enjoyed it, but I also ended up interacting with a LOT of NSFW content on her tumblr and ended up in inappropriate situations online as a minor but I was dumb and easily manipulated at that point in my life. Something about her always seemed off tho, like she was always kind of mean to us in the group but I still idolized her because I really liked her art.

GlitchedPuppet is very similar to creators like Shadman; What i mean by that is both were huge artists, both had really messed up interests, both drew huge amounts of questionable pxrn, and both are currently going pretty much insane on twitter with weird posts that make no sense.

Hello. Person that got deeply involved with Floraverae drama here, from 2019 up until the end of 2020: Floraverse's a shithole of drama and it's not worth dealing with. Their discord community although seemingly friendly, has a really creepy and isolated atmosphere, and minors aren't safe there. I would advice anyone not go deep into Floraverse, especially the discord, due to a lot of bad people lurking about. Im glad someone finally made a video talking about it, because more people should be aware and avoid the comic and the drama as a whole. Thanks for making this video.

My sister tried to get me into Floraverse a few years ago. It seemed okay, but the plot wasn't really going anywhere, I lost interest in staying. Later I found out that Glip was a really crappy person, and let my sister know what she had done. She was appalled and sad that an artist she'd enjoyed so much would be involved in those things. That seems to be the reaction of most of the comments here, "Damn, I liked Glip's work, sucks to know she's really a perverted bitch."

This is one of the first artist I ever felt anything. I clicked on the video not knowing who glitched puppet was, but I know who purplekecleon is or was. That and a simailar group, (Pokemon crossing) were some of my inspirations growing up as one the main inspirations, this + Eddsworld, + Law of Talos and various flipnote creators were my inspiration.

I know this is an old comment but I was in a similar position. I found their stuff in 2015 when I was 13 and was floored by their art. I've never been particularly interested in the personal lives of artists I like, so this was a shock to me
i had no fucking idea. I had some discussions with them ages ago and really fucked up my views on life (probably 2015) so hearing that they have been known to be emotionally abusive, and a really terrible person overall, is actually both sad (because I used to look up to them) and gives me a bit of clarity as to how my anxiety spiralled out of control in mid 2015 (when I was attempting to establish myself as an artist, and I kept reaching out to apparently REALLY terrible people for guidence/advice etc) Not to mention how they treated me because at that time I had no idea I was nonbinary. I'd go into depth but the whole period in my life was a blur and I found some pretty awesome people soon after, who shaped my life in the opposite direction. Luckily I never really talked to them after 2015, because they just struck me as someone I should stay away from. Apparently my instinct was right. I must have just muted them and apparently have still been following them all these years T_T. After this I went to check up on their account again to see how they were doing, unfollowed immediately after because "why am I still following this and why didn't I know any of this!!!"

@@HurricaneBady I looked into it and read the google doc on marl, they reconnected for closure and healing at reccomendation by a therapist after pk divorced marl.
Which i think is reasonable and good for healing. They incuded logs that incriminate them(pengo) with explaination and regret, so I will take it as real action to heal and be better. Rather then fall into the depravity marl surronded himself with.
Pengo seems to believe PK is innocent and all crime was due to the manipulation by marl, which could be true, but those crimes are still henious and i wouldnt say pk is 100% innocent. 10 years being in a relationship with a man that bad though, I get it (starting when they are a minor themself).
Hopefully with the divorce PK is also trying to be better since they were also groomed by him, but they have much worse crimes to forgive. I dont care enough abt pk to look into that though.
I hope they do for the sake of them and the people they interact with. Marl being cut off takes away a lot of his power to hurt people at the very least, considering he used pks name to solicite minors.
Oh my god I remember reading their Floraverse comic ages ago and recognized the character on the thumbnail, thinking GlitchedPuppet was just the name of a character I forgot and this would be a character analysis or sth I didn't expect this, but it really sucks when artists whose work I like turn out to be awful people.

I've had some interaction with their work and groups in the past. I used to be a part of PMDE before it went to shit, and at one point I accidentally stumbled upon the fanfic of N and Ghetsis. Morbid curiosity got the best of me and I read it.

My first and only impression of Melanie's art so far has been floraverse and it sucks (understatement I know) to come across all this controversy the instant I look up their name. The sfw comic is has beautiful art, charming characters and a fascinating fictional world. I feel that this video's summary of the plot does the webcomic a disservice... There's very strong evidence to the importance of seeds in the chapters about the denizens of hell fighting off a magical plague. The bird and her water elemental friend had this seed that when you plant it sprouts a creature that eats everything nearby before becoming docile. This is the same plant-creature that supposedly is great at purifying soil, which helped fight off the plague. I'm sure there are plenty of other important seeds in that bag. The point is, taken in isolation the floraverse comic is beautiful and fascinating, and it's a shame to hear so much awful stuff about this person. I like to separate the art from the artist but it's getting harder and harder to do the more I learn about this artist. I'm on an emotional rollercoaster and I want to get off.
yeah same. and the music is also something I've greatly appreciated. It's hard to find music in that style, the only other example I am really familiar with is the soundtrack for the game OFF and they've made a lot of it. Just massively dissapointing to hear.

I remember as a kid of around 13-14 trying to get into PMD-Explorers right as the drama surrounding PK was unfurling. I didn’t understand a lot of what was going on but i never eventually took part in the rp group.
I like that "Hey Alexa, what is violence?" and the response, got me to laugh out loud. Anyhow, it's fascinating getting to know these other artists' origin stories. I may be losing sanity while listening, too, I'm not sure. Never thought I would find furry drama interesting at all but...

Somehow, I've heard of that name, and I am nowhere close to any of these fandoms. Just read a hefty chunk of Floraverse yesterday. Personally, I've enjoyed the story's chaotic twists and turns, but to hear that they've never really cleared anything up sucks. Guess I'll finish the chapter I'm reading and call it that. Dissapointing to hear that they don't know how to handle themselves.
I'll still use the art and music as inspiration though. It's some really fantastic stuff. Real shame about the person.

I felt another level of discomfort reading the logs between marl and the minor. Outside looking in it would look like the minor is consenting but you only know how much regret and trauma if you were the "consenting minor" in that situation. you wont feel liberated, just manipulated.

I was an active member of PMDE in high school and I really enjoyed it, but I also ended up interacting with a LOT of NSFW content on her tumblr and ended up in inappropriate situations online as a minor but I was dumb and easily manipulated at that point in my life. Something about her always seemed off tho, like she was always kind of mean to us in the group but I still idolized her because I really liked her art.

GlitchedPuppet is very similar to creators like Shadman; What i mean by that is both were huge artists, both had really messed up interests, both drew huge amounts of questionable pxrn, and both are currently going pretty much insane on twitter with weird posts that make no sense.

Hello. Person that got deeply involved with Floraverae drama here, from 2019 up until the end of 2020: Floraverse's a shithole of drama and it's not worth dealing with. Their discord community although seemingly friendly, has a really creepy and isolated atmosphere, and minors aren't safe there. I would advice anyone not go deep into Floraverse, especially the discord, due to a lot of bad people lurking about. Im glad someone finally made a video talking about it, because more people should be aware and avoid the comic and the drama as a whole. Thanks for making this video.

My sister tried to get me into Floraverse a few years ago. It seemed okay, but the plot wasn't really going anywhere, I lost interest in staying.
Later I found out that Glip was a really crappy person, and let my sister know what she had done. She was appalled and sad that an artist she'd enjoyed so much would be involved in those things.
That seems to be the reaction of most of the comments here, "Damn, I liked Glip's work, sucks to know she's really a perverted bitch."

I know this video is a year old but just listening to this video I am reminded of how fascinated and obsessed I was with the artists's artstyle, I saw as the most beautiful style ever and tried so many times to emulate it, thinking i was able to do so, I tried joining the pmde group but it was already shut down, tried joining a new one but I felt too burnt out from drawing for the missions there

This is one of the first artist I ever felt anything. I clicked on the video not knowing who glitched puppet was, but I know who purplekecleon is or was. That and a simailar group, (Pokemon crossing) were some of my inspirations growing up as one the main inspirations, this + Eddsworld, + Law of Talos and various flipnote creators were my inspiration.

I know this is an old comment but I was in a similar position. I found their stuff in 2015 when I was 13 and was floored by their art. I've never been particularly interested in the personal lives of artists I like, so this was a shock to me
i had no fucking idea. I had some discussions with them ages ago and really fucked up my views on life (probably 2015) so hearing that they have been known to be emotionally abusive, and a really terrible person overall, is actually both sad (because I used to look up to them) and gives me a bit of clarity as to how my anxiety spiralled out of control in mid 2015 (when I was attempting to establish myself as an artist, and I kept reaching out to apparently REALLY terrible people for guidence/advice etc)
Not to mention how they treated me because at that time I had no idea I was nonbinary.
I'd go into depth but the whole period in my life was a blur and I found some pretty awesome people soon after, who shaped my life in the opposite direction.
Luckily I never really talked to them after 2015, because they just struck me as someone I should stay away from.
Apparently my instinct was right. I must have just muted them and apparently have still been following them all these years T_T. After this I went to check up on their account again to see how they were doing, unfollowed immediately after because "why am I still following this and why didn't I know any of this!!!"
