FA being 'dated' I think is one of the reasons why it's popular, there's no algorythmic suggestions messing up people's feed, no overbearing HTML5 eating up tons of ram, and infrequent changes that keeps the experience more or less constant over time.

I used to use google to find stories on sofurry until google turned into the digital classifieds and tried to throw me ads with half the results. By contrast FA has a good search system IF the artists bother to tag their art, and a lot are too lazy to do that, so I only stumble onto art on their gallery by accident looking at something else. An FA pic not subtagged as female elephant? It'll show up at some point in e621 if I'm lucky 😢.
I think its the artists. All the good artists are on FA. Most people get on FA in the morning, check their feed of watched artist uploads, and get on with their day. Its become that convenient and braindead to engage. I would've left and burned my bridges if I weren't subbed to so many people that dmca their work if it shows up somewhere besides FA.

Yeah that’s pretty much it, it’s still the main hub for furries and furry art with really no alternatives. If someone ever made a successful Furaffinity alternative i’m sure much less people would stay on the site especially since it’s almost a universal opinion that FA fell off since they always do bad stuff such as these new rule changes
Same loophole used on deviantart to put fetish art despite the site not allowing explicit artwork. Since it's not depicting a sexual act it can't fall under pornography rules, even if the artwork implies it happened.
Thats the problem, there is no line where cub art magically goes from being non sexual to sexual. To bring up that last point... a blacklist only works if people actually use tags and tag their art properly. Course since a number of artists have gone to just mass uploading via 3rd party apps after they have done posting on Twitter, the paywall of Patreon, or the social wall of Discord most don't bother tagging things which of course makes it harder for people to find the art they actually want to find. Especially since keyword search is basically broken to non-existent on that site.

Yeah, they basically need to turn the site into e621, with users being allowed and encouraged to add tags. But that's kind of impossible, because unlike e621, which had the tagging infrastructure from day 1, FA users would need to go back and tag all eleventy kajillion images that are already on the site.

I used to be in the NSFW anime community. I grew an adult character with adult facial features and womanly hips, but she had small boobs. Fully developed but small boobs. Was immediately accused of making underaged content. What adds extra pain to it was I am a woman with small breasts and drawing sexy small titty ladies makes me feel good about something that is normally seen as negative. I've since distanced myself from the NSFW community (mainly due to how casual ACTUAL loli content/beastality was just accepted by too many people for my comfort) but that piece stuck with me
Dude it's honestly wild how deluded people are about anime characters. I've seen people call characters like Casca from Berserk baby faced and child like. Like...do yall know what an adult woman looks like? Like I swear people spend too much time worrying about/looking at lolisho content* that they forget that adults can and do have features that children commonly have. Like some people naturally have a smaller chest, that doesn't make them any less of an adult and seeing smaller breasts as inherently child like is so gross. Or assuming any short character is a child. It astounds me that it took almost 2 decades for FA to finally look into adding a Blacklist feature. There have been artists who I generally like but had to block entirely because occasionally they post something I don't like. None of the big bads, but like "Oh I don't like that particular thing. Really don't wanna see it." But had no other way of filtering it out.

Im gonna throw my own hat in the ring because I keep hearing the argument over and over. Yes, there are times in cartoons where things that could be considered kinks to someone are present, but it's all about intent. Vore made by furries is usually meant with the intention of getting the viewer's rocks off, while characters being eaten in cartoons is not meant witu that in mind (hopefully, if someone did try sneaking it in there, that's weird as fuck too). And this goes for every other kink people like to play dumb with, transformation, bondage, etc. Just ask yourself if the intent is to be horny to it before slapping the suitable for all ages tag on it.
I feel so bad for y'all on FA. The fact that there's no blacklist for tags is insane to me. I personally use Inkbunny (and e6) and just blacklist the tags I don't want to see. Though I understand why some people dont use that site because they object to what's allowed on there, the site really has a good system in place: The poster gets to tag the image with whatever they feel is necessary, and then the community is able to add additional tags in a "suggested" section, which is also blacklist filtered. I honestly don't think I've seen more than one slip-up in the entire time I've been there. Inkbunny is genuinely superior to FA in every way in my opinion. Better UI, more useful features, actually looks and functions like a modern social media website. It's a shame it gets such a bad rap when more popular sites like e6 have nearly identical rules for allowed content. Again, I'm not making a judgment on anyone who refuses to use those sites if they feel that what's allowed is immoral/unethical.

The only issue I have w E6 is that *anyone* can tag your art as anything, and it's a "tag what you see" system. So a ton of transmen artwork I used to have on there was tagged as female, woman, girl, etc. No suggestions, just straight up changing your tags and not having any proper transgender tags other than the "Trans_(lore)" tag which no one will see bc it's at the bottom of the tag list. That and all the crime porn posted but you went over that already-

I remember when glopossum played a not insignificant part in getting lore tags added. Idk if she would have that kind of sway in a tag overhaul like this tho. My proposed (compromise) solution is adding a gender/pairings section and tweaking the body type wordings a bit. Like say for example my fursona (a trans woman with a flat chest) might be tagged with "trans_woman" and "trans_woman/woman" in the gender/pairings section, and "male_body_type" or maybe just "male_(body)" in the general tags section. It's not the best, but I think it would be better at least :/
I've been saying that for years. Made an Inkbunny account within weeks of the site first going live, that's how long I've been on there. Even early on I realized it's objectively the superior art gallery site in every technical and functional aspect. It's frankly a shame Inkbunny has that stigma attached to it, since I was touting it as the go-to "FA Killer" up until it became infamous for the content it allowed. After a while I stopped bringing it up in conversations with other furs, because people would give me odd looks and assume I'm into cub for even mentioning the site.

I don't think someone should be harmed or jailed for something purely fictional, but I think it's fair to investigate them or ask them questions if it's worth pursing. Because the "fiction to reality" pipeline has no clear line, will vary from person-to-person, and has no upper limit. Someone can watch horror films just fine, but still get disturbed when shown actual gore, either through recordings (e.g., Liveleak) or acts committed in person (e.g., seeing someone getting beat to death in front of them). No one calls you a psychopath because you're a fan of true crime, horror films, and/or serial killer documentaries. If I see some suspect art, I'm probably not going to stick around, but I need more than that to accuse someone of criminal behavior.

When you brought up the blacklist at first, I was waiting for you to mention how long its been since they announced it. I joked about that with my friends a lot, but this site is so damn ancient that they announced the ability to change your username in 2019 and to this day it hasn't been implemented yet.
In the pokemon fandom, evolution doesn't equal age. So, banning certain species based on aesthetics is definitely weird. When I look at an eevee I don't see a child, I see a fox. Might as well ban lewd art of cartoon foxes in general.
It gets even worse wiþ Digimon. Renemon is a Rookie Level (analogous to child) while Gatomon is a Champion Level (analogous to adult), but you'd never þink þat based on proportions.
The part that confuses me about the baby Pokémon thing in general - Doesn't the blanket term "baby Pokémon" specifically refer to the ones that just hatched/are really low level/etc.? What if an Eevee chose not to evolve and it stayed that way for 20+ years? Are they really trying to say that's still considered a kid just because it hasn't evolved? XD Mind you, if people are going to sexualize Eevees, I'd much rather them be anthro and not feral, but regardless, applying age to evolutions feels weird when you actually take into consideration how long certain Pokémon may stay in one stage.

The reason for the argument when it comes to pokemon itself, Pokemon age is not tied to their evolution or level, and since pokemon can choose to not evolve, while still living, gaining experience and leveling, Since age is related to gaining experience, that's why Age/Evolution is not tied in the pokemon universe. Because they can "Grow and learn" and gain experience, and level up, even if they don't change evolution.
Some things im going to add here as someone who has been very involved with speaking to mods in their Discord and being a kind of mediator to people affected by this change: - Many were told at first that Pichu and Riolu were banned, which originally came off with all Baby 'mons would be banned. (a fair change imo) Only for them to roll that back a day later with no clear examples of what is/isn't allowed. Some people have been told Pikachu is bannable and others are being told not. I've even seen characters like Yoshi from Mario might be considered a bannable offense if you make his head slightly too big. - Most mods have admitted they have currently disappeared on Holiday and the remainig staff are mostly ignoring tickets of people asking for clarity of any kind. But are answering other tickets unrelated to this. I can personally atest to this as my ticket from 2 weeks ago asking them to clarify something Kobold related in my gallery has been ignored, but they got back to me in 24 hours about an FA plus issue I had 2 days ago. - Several mods have admitted the backlog of tickets asking for clarification is so long they arent 100% sure they will be able to answer them in time / help users clear their galleries before getting a level 4 ban. - Mods confirmed the Blacklist has not once been worked on in the many years since its been requested. - Apparently if you want to draw Impmon from tamers, you can't because mods decided he's a child, okay sure.... But then the Guilmon from Tamers is fine even though he acts like and *technically is* a newborn baby dinosaur because Dragoneer likes him. Speaking of Neer. He and the other admins had many sus images in their galleries and were caught red handed. One admin even filed for their side account to be deleted entirely instead of deleting everything manually. 'Neer has an eevee sona that he has been getting sus commissions of frequently, with the latest questionable one being from late last year. - Mods have shut all feedback off from the server after they got upset some users pointed out how they are doing a terrible job all around and they aren't actually answering tickets or being helpful in any way currently. They claim you can still send them feedback via the FA Ticket system, but doing so it making them change it to a different catergory if they don't like anything you say. - Many people who actually have been posting cub/shota/worse to FA for almost a decade have apparently been told they aren't getting banned despite their sonas being cubs and/or tagged as cub on other sites.... So... who the hell is this rule for exactly? Personally I think they should just announce all baby poke/Digimon and a few sus ones (Cubone, Calumon, Flamemon, etc) are banned and work on that for a few years then work their way up to perfecting this rule. 'Cause like you said they managed to piss off both sides of the argument somehow. Also before someone says but think of the children... I am all for protecting minors from bad actors, but this change wasn't done to protect minors like the mods have claimed. You know how many convicted Pedos and caught in 4k nonces have free reign on FA because the mods "refuse to accept any screenshots, videos or other forms of proof unless it happens on FA" when minors come forward with so much evidence against users? As someone who has a cartoony art style and draws fetish and NSFW things, I have received these comments more times than I can count on my hands. I personally believe that drawing fetish or porn art with minors in it is a massive no no, so I have no true intention to do that and only want to draw adults in sexual situations.

The problem is that some artist draw in "cuter", more cartoony styles. The proportions, of course, aren't normal in such styles with most characters veering towards Pikachu-like shapes. Even if the rule allowed such art, it is still worded too vaguely to be safe.
If the actual Pokemon Anime can make Team Rocket's Meowth come off as a grumpy goofy adult Brooklyn man with no issue, or even adding any kind of distinguishing wrinkles like with Treecko in that example, I think it's worth trusting artists to do similar things with toony characters with similar proportions. The context should come from the artist's work and overall gallery, not the canon design. And generally, the more Toony something looks, the less it looks like any specific kind of person or demographic. (See Isabelle Animal Crossing, Cult of the Lamb characters and Most of the Agrettsko characters, who come across as adults even *with* their canon proportions.) When it comes to designs that look very cartoony, It's all about presentation and coding, Prioritizing the coding provided by artist's overall gallery over the canon depiction, not just a simple head-to-body ratio graph and terminology coined primarily for the purpose of game mechanics.
I feel like instead of going after short characters they should have just banned age up then distribute a blacklist beta for users to use. Policies are hard to write and implement enough as it is.

Yes and No. E621 allows almost all and gathers content from diverse sites plus artwork that is only posted there but like it or not, E621 is in third place among the furry sites of the world, being FA first and Inkbunny second. The reason E621 isn't in a higher position is because of its quality rules, most of the artwork there for be allowed must be digital (with a few exceptions) and also at least kinda good looking, this rules out a lot of artwork for example from DeviantArt and Weasyl that both allows novice level artwork.

So is e621. Owned by a zoo/p3do. Unfortunately both these websites come from a time when the famdom really was rampant with this kind. In the 90 is was even worse. Now though most of them have been outed. They've been banned from all of the most popular cons since they now require id, and many many alternative websites exist for art aggregation and community features that are not run by these guys. The famdom is orders of magnitude improved from what was 10 years ago, and more and more of them a getting ostracised by the greater and greater community that is forming around them.
As someone who is currently banned from Fur Affinity and can't return until my 18th birthday (which isn't until October 17, 2025), it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Dragoneer decided to re-allow porn of underage characters and add a policy that bans speaking out against pedophilia and zoophilia while also unbanning people like Growly and Tay Ferret because they are pedophiles and/or zoophiles. I actually plan on making a website where people can share their content myself at some point. I'll be calling it Flashmouse.

@@eminempreg I agree on that one. It's pretty hypocritical that they would ban me for gore despite all the vent art made by kids on there. I was 13 when I got banned (since I got banned on March 2021). Please let me make a black list of certain tags. I really just want holsome ace friendly stuff on my pages. I have it on sfw but I'm still getting stuff that is getting though the cracks and yiff in any context scares me. Why I rarely look at the main page as much as I once did I just upload my works, check my notes, update journals and get off. I also switched to pre made adopts and art for sale, instead of custom orders, and same with fursuits premade but can alter things a tad if the buyer pays for them. I only do pg stuff and my premade art is canvas paintings of animals. All of this so I can't get a NSFW ref and I'm also now legally blind do to injures and an illness I have. My work is much harder and rather do my own works then disappoint a client for I had a hard time seeing markings on a ref. So I have just changed how I interact with FA. So really would love a option to block tags
I was actually a little excited when you mentioned the block list, only to be quickly disappointed I go on FA, to follow furry artists... And look at fetish/"fetish" art (no, not 1,000 year old Lolis), and I'm constantly seeing diaper and inflation art, even though I didn't look for it And they do, technically have a block list, it just works like Google and TH-cam (-diapers, to not see art with that tag)
The first major problem I had with the website started with the bad SFW filter. It never filtered everything and there was not nearly as much art being posted than the NSFW. As an ace person, I highly appreciate not seeing s*x, n*dity, and f*tishes everywhere on a website for once. What bothers me is that the one filter for that stuff doesn't even work.
The problem here is that the user decides what category to put the art into, and it's rarely enforced. So you can have art with explicit human nudity be marked mature and get away with it for some reason. And to think blocking jessicastrangetfs would stop that from appearing on my feed...
This confuses me, theres only a few pokemon who represent adolescents, and they already live under a well known blanket term "Baby Pokemon" like pichu or cleffa for examples

It allows you to have multiple images in one submission for stuff like comics, tag suggestions, and a blacklist feature to make good use of those tags and tag suggestions. A friend list system that can allow you to show some submissions to only those on your friend list. And best of all it isn't riddled with IMVU ads.

5:20 I said similar in my script about my Citra/Zaush video but left it out of the full video but I heavily imply it. Dragoneer has a really bad tendency of hanging out or liking people who enjoy predatory content. People like Growly & Zaush, and has defended them both. Then what you read here, I've heard that same defense a lot and it's all from people who are interested in it themselves. I've heard from both zoo art and cub art enjoyers. I also included similar about Kothorix and his tendency to hang out with people like Zaush and Kero and seems to know quite a bit about hiding things. I left that one out too. Furaffinity is the twitter of furries, I don't think the site will stop being used until they go out of business.
Hmm, one thing i think these websites are massivly missing is an autotagging feature... we "are in the age of ai" we cant take poor tagging as a deficit, we have, for example, and ai that takes an image and gives the booru tags. its great.

Yes and no. You see, E621 is the third most popular furry site, with FA in first and Inkbunny in second (exist a video of that). Even that E621 gathers artwork from a lot sites the reason isn't in a higher position is because they have a quality filter, most of the content must be digital and at least kinda good looking so that rules out a lot artwork like stuff in Deviantart and Weasyl.
Honestly, I would love to stop using FA to post my art, but sadly it's also where all my commissions and views come from.. So im kinda forced to keep using it, other websites just don't get me enough viewership to make it worth while.
Adding a block list wouldn't work here because there aren't any (enforced) rules on tagging art. That's one of the few things that e6 does right, anyone can come by and add approrate tags to art posted by another user.
Like there's already Inkbunny for the cub freaks idk why FA is still having this struggle. Might be from it being a legacy site so there's a ton of old-school thinking on top of it being controlled by a very small group of people.

I think believing fictional characters have a age and that fanart is beholdent to reality is far more unhinged. We should judge it purely based on its execution. If tails still looks like child in that art, then I'll be agreeing with you, if not, then I won't. There is nothing else to say when it comes to fan art.

I really think FA needs a damn tag filtering/blacklist feature already. It needed it from the beginning, honestly. As unbothered as I am by most of the stuff I see on there (because I've seen some shit in my time), I'd still like to browse FA without seeing a bunch of naked furries wrestling in a pile of literal shit, or a detailed and violent sexual assault/necrophilia comic. Of course some people are irresponsible and won't use the tag features, but there are plenty who will, and I don't think that's reason to not implement a blacklist feature. My concern is how do you enforce this on furries. Like its not how you would with regular humans, everyone knows how a human looks and how an adult human looks. But with furries, theres so much that differs from person to person. You can have an artist who draws their characters as very human with a human body , just with fur, a tail, and an animal head. You can have an artist who only draws furries with a human stature but animal traits like digi legs, no breasts, or other very human parts. Or even take basically most of the South East Asian side of the fandom where its very common to see furries with big head, huge eyes, tiny snouts, and small compact bodies. Like how do you decide what is and isnt child like across the board, cuz thats gonna be so different for every artist. And how do you avoid not wrongly moderating someone whos adult character is short and cute. It just seems so odd, like how do you properly gauge something like that? Additionally, say someone commissions NSFW art of their fursona, who shares their body type and they're a short adult, or they have a smaller bust. I know thats more of an extreme case, but like...more often than not peoples fursonas share their body type, or look like their ideal selves. The idea is good, but I feel like this rule is gonna catch a lot of other artists in its net that don't need to be there.

You see the problem? This is an actual, go-to-prison-for-many-years law, but it still has to resort to such vagueness as 'impression conveyed.' How is a site, like FA supposed to ensure it complies with that? They just have to ban anything that looks a little suspiciously child-like, even to the slightest extend. You see big head and huge eyes and see cute, but a jury might decide child.
As a person who’s fursona is 4’ and is supposed to be immature by human adult standards (reflecting “my own brand” of maturity) I had to submit a report to see if I need to scrub my account of my own fursona. As of a week, they have not responded.
This can even be a problem with humans too, there are plenty of real life people that have a variety of conditions whom despite being full adults, can appear somewhat childlike, and its also not completely unheard of for literal 12-14 year olds to look like they are 18+. This can include people whom are just usually short, have somewhat childlike proportions, women whom have small breasts, and trans men. So yeah, considering that this is a problem with real life humans, its a nightmare when it comes to furry species, especially when you have someone like me, whom is a bit of a realism nut. Ie, species are different sizes depending on what they are, polar bear anthro's are literally the size of polar bears, most species real life animal counterpart that are smaller than humans, my anthro version is also smaller than humans, with one of my average cat or fox anthro's usually not being any taller than 150 cm, a squirrel anthro of mine topping at around 120-130, and a mouse anthro topping out at 30. but many of these smaller species have enlarged heads to support a human sized or close to it brain (except for the very small species). Likewise, I'm one of those few that doesn't draw gigantic breasts on a wasp waisted female either, in face most of my anthro's dont have breasts at all. And while i dont draw a lot of outright porn, dont care much for it, my furry characters are nearly always nude, because i asked the question, why would a being with fur wear clothing regularly like humans. The answer is, they wouldst, because they dont need to.

We look at furry art and see a character - there's species stereotypes, fictional environments, all sorts of things to speculate upon just as you did. As someone who enjoys the concept of vore in a non-sexual manner, I still believe that regardless, minors should *NEVER* be depicted in fetishes or fetish-adjacent content. I used to be a decently popular writer on FA. Got dinged for one of my stories in 2021 with a 1 week suspension and just decided to liquidate my whole catalogue of content after figuring out it was the only safe move to play with how they constantly change the rules and expect you to be magically aware of what random thing you wrote about in one of 100+ short stories 10 years ago. To be clear guys, sofurry is still around and Toumal is much more cool and easy to get along with than the FA mods. I didn't get punished on sofurry, they just removed the story and I'm totally cool with that. People shouldn't be penalized for things they said and did years ago when the rules change and get applied retroactively, because honestly who can remember or keep track when there's real life things to keep us occupied like families, school, and jobs.

FA being 'dated' I think is one of the reasons why it's popular, there's no algorythmic suggestions messing up people's feed, no overbearing HTML5 eating up tons of ram, and infrequent changes that keeps the experience more or less constant over time.

Yeah, the only issue is it feels harder to search for content on there for some reason. I used to use google to find stories on sofurry until google turned into the digital classifieds and tried to throw me ads with half the results.
By contrast FA has a good search system IF the artists bother to tag their art, and a lot are too lazy to do that, so I only stumble onto art on their gallery by accident looking at something else. An FA pic not subtagged as female elephant? It'll show up at some point in e621 if I'm lucky 😢.
I think its the artists. All the good artists are on FA. Most people get on FA in the morning, check their feed of watched artist uploads, and get on with their day. Its become that convenient and braindead to engage. I would've left and burned my bridges if I weren't subbed to so many people that dmca their work if it shows up somewhere besides FA.

Yeah that’s pretty much it, it’s still the main hub for furries and furry art with really no alternatives. If someone ever made a successful Furaffinity alternative i’m sure much less people would stay on the site especially since it’s almost a universal opinion that FA fell off since they always do bad stuff such as these new rule changes

Thats the problem, there is no line where cub art magically goes from being non sexual to sexual. Its a big gray mess and subtle factors can lead into art starting to look more sexual in nature, from pseudo fetishes like mouth vore and inflation to how much detail goes into drawing what body part.

To bring up that last point... a blacklist only works if people actually use tags and tag their art properly. Course since a number of artists have gone to just mass uploading via 3rd party apps after they have done posting on Twitter, the paywall of Patreon, or the social wall of Discord most don't bother tagging things which of course makes it harder for people to find the art they actually want to find. Especially since keyword search is basically broken to non-existent on that site.

Yeah, they basically need to turn the site into e621, with users being allowed and encouraged to add tags. But that's kind of impossible, because unlike e621, which had the tagging infrastructure from day 1, FA users would need to go back and tag all eleventy kajillion images that are already on the site.

I've since distanced myself from the NSFW community (mainly due to how casual ACTUAL loli content/beastality was just accepted by too many people for my comfort) but that piece stuck with me
Dude it's honestly wild how deluded people are about anime characters. I've seen people call characters like Casca from Berserk baby faced and child like. Like...do yall know what an adult woman looks like? Like I swear people spend too much time worrying about/looking at lolisho content* that they forget that adults can and do have features that children commonly have. It astounds me that it took almost 2 decades for FA to finally look into adding a Blacklist feature. There have been artists who I generally like but had to block entirely because occasionally they post something I don't like. None of the big bads, but like "Oh I don't like that particular thing. Im gonna throw my own hat in the ring because I keep hearing the argument over and over. Yes, there are times in cartoons where things that could be considered kinks to someone are present, but it's all about intent. Vore made by furries is usually meant with the intention of getting the viewer's rocks off, while characters being eaten in cartoons is not meant witu that in mind (hopefully, if someone did try sneaking it in there, that's weird as fuck too). And this goes for every other kink people like to play dumb with, transformation, bondage, etc. Just ask yourself if the intent is to be horny to it before slapping the suitable for all ages tag on it.
Anything can be a kink if it's intentionally framed as sexual. Plus "SFW vore" isn't a thing to me because then it wouldn't be vore anyways.

I feel so bad for y'all on FA. The fact that there's no blacklist for tags is insane to me. I personally use Inkbunny (and e6) and just blacklist the tags I don't want to see. Though I understand why some people dont use that site because they object to what's allowed on there, the site really has a good system in place:
The poster gets to tag the image with whatever they feel is necessary, and then the community is able to add additional tags in a "suggested" section, which is also blacklist filtered. I honestly don't think I've seen more than one slip-up in the entire time I've been there.
Inkbunny is genuinely superior to FA in every way in my opinion. Better UI, more useful features, actually looks and functions like a modern social media website. It's a shame it gets such a bad rap when more popular sites like e6 have nearly identical rules for allowed content. Again, I'm not making a judgment on anyone who refuses to use those sites if they feel that what's allowed is immoral/unethical.
Gonna preempt some replies here:
1. I don't want to have a debate about what constitutes ethical porn, and of course any form of CSAM is unethical.
2. You don't know me, and my tastes in porn aren't relevant, but no, I'm not really fond of cub stuff.
3. I use inkbunny because I'm a web designer and furaffinity makes me want to blow my brains out.
The only issue I have w E6 is that *anyone* can tag your art as anything, and it's a "tag what you see" system. So a ton of transmen artwork I used to have on there was tagged as female, woman, girl, etc. No suggestions, just straight up changing your tags and not having any proper transgender tags other than the "Trans_(lore)" tag which no one will see bc it's at the bottom of the tag list.

My proposed (compromise) solution is adding a gender/pairings section and tweaking the body type wordings a bit.
Like say for example my fursona (a trans woman with a flat chest) might be tagged with "trans_woman" and "trans_woman/woman" in the gender/pairings section, and "male_body_type" or maybe just "male_(body)" in the general tags section. It's not the best, but I think it would be better at least :/
I've been saying that for years. Made an Inkbunny account within weeks of the site first going live, that's how long I've been on there. Even early on I realized it's objectively the superior art gallery site in every technical and functional aspect. It's frankly a shame Inkbunny has that stigma attached to it, since I was touting it as the go-to "FA Killer" up until it became infamous for the content it allowed. After a while I stopped bringing it up in conversations with other furs, because people would give me odd looks and assume I'm into cub for even mentioning the site.

I don't think someone should be harmed or jailed for something purely fictional, but I think it's fair to investigate them or ask them questions if it's worth pursing. Because the "fiction to reality" pipeline has no clear line, will vary from person-to-person, and has no upper limit. Someone can watch horror films just fine, but still get disturbed when shown actual gore, either through recordings (e.g., Liveleak) or acts committed in person (e.g., seeing someone getting beat to death in front of them). No one calls you a psychopath because you're a fan of true crime, horror films, and/or serial killer documentaries.
If I see some suspect art, I'm probably not going to stick around, but I need more than that to accuse someone of criminal behavior.

In the pokemon fandom, evolution doesn't equal age. So, banning certain species based on aesthetics is definitely weird. When I look at an eevee I don't see a child, I see a fox. Might as well ban lewd art of cartoon foxes in general.

The part that confuses me about the baby Pokémon thing in general - Doesn't the blanket term "baby Pokémon" specifically refer to the ones that just hatched/are really low level/etc.? tbf the whole furraffinity new policies are kind of a mess bc yea while the 1000+ year old loli trope is nasty it does suck that short adult characters/shortstacks got dragged into it. as for the pokemon argument its a bit murky ( putting my mixed opinions on pokemon nsfw aside ) bc its canonically shown that evolution =/= age in every case ( hell in one of the pokemon journeys eps theres an old ass hoothoot ) but on the other hand there are baby pokemon so its just kind of one weird mess
The reason for the argument when it comes to pokemon itself, Pokemon age is not tied to their evolution or level, and since pokemon can choose to not evolve, while still living, gaining experience and leveling, Since age is related to gaining experience, that's why Age/Evolution is not tied in the pokemon universe. Because they can "Grow and learn" and gain experience, and level up, even if they don't change evolution.
Some things im going to add here as someone who has been very involved with speaking to mods in their Discord and being a kind of mediator to people affected by this change:
- Many were told at first that Pichu and Riolu were banned, which originally came off with all Baby 'mons would be banned. (a fair change imo) Only for them to roll that back a day later with no clear examples of what is/isn't allowed. Some people have been told Pikachu is bannable and others are being told not. I've even seen characters like Yoshi from Mario might be considered a bannable offense if you make his head slightly too big.
- Most mods have admitted they have currently disappeared on Holiday and the remainig staff are mostly ignoring tickets of people asking for clarity of any kind. But are answering other tickets unrelated to this. I can personally atest to this as my ticket from 2 weeks ago asking them to clarify something Kobold related in my gallery has been ignored, but they got back to me in 24 hours about an FA plus issue I had 2 days ago.
- Several mods have admitted the backlog of tickets asking for clarification is so long they arent 100% sure they will be able to answer them in time / help users clear their galleries before getting a level 4 ban.
- Mods confirmed the Blacklist has not once been worked on in the many years since its been requested.
- Apparently if you want to draw Impmon from tamers, you can't because mods decided he's a child, okay sure.... But then the Guilmon from Tamers is fine even though he acts like and *technically is* a newborn baby dinosaur because Dragoneer likes him.
Speaking of Neer. He and the other admins had many sus images in their galleries and were caught red handed. One admin even filed for their side account to be deleted entirely instead of deleting everything manually. 'Neer has an eevee sona that he has been getting sus commissions of frequently, with the latest questionable one being from late last year.
- Mods have shut all feedback off from the server after they got upset some users pointed out how they are doing a terrible job all around and they aren't actually answering tickets or being helpful in any way currently. They claim you can still send them feedback via the FA Ticket system, but doing so it making them change it to a different catergory if they don't like anything you say.
- Many people who actually have been posting cub/shota/worse to FA for almost a decade have apparently been told they aren't getting banned despite their sonas being cubs and/or tagged as cub on other sites.... So... who the hell is this rule for exactly?
Personally I think they should just announce all baby poke/Digimon and a few sus ones (Cubone, Calumon, Flamemon, etc) are banned and work on that for a few years then work their way up to perfecting this rule. 'Cause like you said they managed to piss off both sides of the argument somehow.
Also before someone says but think of the children... I am all for protecting minors from bad actors, but this change wasn't done to protect minors like the mods have claimed. You know how many convicted Pedos and caught in 4k nonces have free reign on FA because the mods "refuse to accept any screenshots, videos or other forms of proof unless it happens on FA" when minors come forward with so much evidence against users? As someone who has a cartoony art style and draws fetish and NSFW things, I have received these comments more times than I can count on my hands. But Because of blacklist, I can safely browse without seeing things that I find illegal or morally disturbing. And while FA sort of has the same thing, the ability to search for specific art is considerably more limited, and it's more of a way to just search for artists or very specific tags.

In my view it's more about self identity than about wanting to bang a pokemon. The problem is that some artist draw in "cuter", more cartoony styles. The proportions, of course, aren't normal in such styles with most characters veering towards Pikachu-like shapes. Even if the rule allowed such art, it is still worded too vaguely to be safe.

If the actual Pokemon Anime can make Team Rocket's Meowth come off as a grumpy goofy adult Brooklyn man with no issue, or even adding any kind of distinguishing wrinkles like with Treecko in that example, I think it's worth trusting artists to do similar things with toony characters with similar proportions. The context should come from the artist's work and overall gallery, not the canon design.
And generally, the more Toony something looks, the less it looks like any specific kind of person or demographic. (See Isabelle Animal Crossing, Cult of the Lamb characters and Most of the Agrettsko characters, who come across as adults even *with* their canon proportions.)
When it comes to designs that look very cartoony, It's all about presentation and coding, Prioritizing the coding provided by artist's overall gallery over the canon depiction, not just a simple head-to-body ratio graph and terminology coined primarily for the purpose of game mechanics.
I feel like instead of going after short characters they should have just banned age up then distribute a blacklist beta for users to use. Policies are hard to write and implement enough as it is.

Yes and No. E621 allows almost all and gathers content from diverse sites plus artwork that is only posted there but like it or not, E621 is in third place among the furry sites of the world, being FA first and Inkbunny second.
The reason E621 isn't in a higher position is because of its quality rules, most of the artwork there for be allowed must be digital (with a few exceptions) and also at least kinda good looking, this rules out a lot of artwork for example from DeviantArt and Weasyl that both allows novice level artwork.

So is e621. Owned by a zoo/p3do. Unfortunately both these websites come from a time when the famdom really was rampant with this kind. In the 90 is was even worse. Now though most of them have been outed. They've been banned from all of the most popular cons since they now require id, and many many alternative websites exist for art aggregation and community features that are not run by these guys. The famdom is orders of magnitude improved from what was 10 years ago, and more and more of them a getting ostracised by the greater and greater community that is forming around them.
As someone who is currently banned from Fur Affinity and can't return until my 18th birthday (which isn't until October 17, 2025), it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Dragoneer decided to re-allow porn of underage characters and add a policy that bans speaking out against pedophilia and zoophilia while also unbanning people like Growly and Tay Ferret because they are pedophiles and/or zoophiles.

Honestly that was a pretty stupid part on my end (so the ban was somewhat reasonable, though it was probably also the fact that I am against pedophilia and zoophilia that got me banned), even though I still draw gore. Fortunately, with me turning 16 this year, I can get my photo ID and have the staff verify my age once I get my ID. Though even once I am verified, I don't think Dragoneer would want me back unless it was so he could get pornographic artwork of underage characters from me.

Please let me make a black list of certain tags. I really just want holsome ace friendly stuff on my pages. I have it on sfw but I'm still getting stuff that is getting though the cracks and yiff in any context scares me. Why I rarely look at the main page as much as I once did I just upload my works, check my notes, update journals and get off. I also switched to pre made adopts and art for sale, instead of custom orders, and same with fursuits premade but can alter things a tad if the buyer pays for them. I only do pg stuff and my premade art is canvas paintings of animals. All of this so I can't get a NSFW ref and I'm also now legally blind do to injures and an illness I have. I go on FA, to follow furry artists... And look at fetish/"fetish" art (no, not 1,000 year old Lolis), and I'm constantly seeing diaper and inflation art, even though I didn't look for it
And they do, technically have a block list, it just works like Google and TH-cam (-diapers, to not see art with that tag)

The first major problem I had with the website started with the bad SFW filter. It never filtered everything and there was not nearly as much art being posted than the NSFW. As an ace person, I highly appreciate not seeing s*x, n*dity, and f*tishes everywhere on a website for once. What bothers me is that the one filter for that stuff doesn't even work.
The problem here is that the user decides what category to put the art into, and it's rarely enforced. So you can have art with explicit human nudity be marked mature and get away with it for some reason. And to think blocking jessicastrangetfs would stop that from appearing on my feed...
This confuses me, theres only a few pokemon who represent adolescents, and they already live under a well known blanket term "Baby Pokemon" like pichu or cleffa for examples

"good" in that it has a working black list feature perhaps. But good, as always, but especially in this context, is subjective.
@@jesmcdevlin3116 it also has a better system overall. It shows new submissions that you haven't viewed as a separate number from the submissions in your inbox. It allows you to have multiple images in one submission for stuff like comics, tag suggestions, and a blacklist feature to make good use of those tags and tag suggestions. A friend list system that can allow you to show some submissions to only those on your friend list. And best of all it isn't riddled with IMVU ads.

5:20 I said similar in my script about my Citra/Zaush video but left it out of the full video but I heavily imply it. Dragoneer has a really bad tendency of hanging out or liking people who enjoy predatory content. People like Growly & Zaush, and has defended them both. Then what you read here, I've heard that same defense a lot and it's all from people who are interested in it themselves. I've heard from both zoo art and cub art enjoyers. I also included similar about Kothorix and his tendency to hang out with people like Zaush and Kero and seems to know quite a bit about hiding things. I left that one out too.
Furaffinity is the twitter of furries, I don't think the site will stop being used until they go out of business.
Hmm, one thing i think these websites are massivly missing is an autotagging feature... we "are in the age of ai" we cant take poor tagging as a deficit, we have, for example, and ai that takes an image and gives the booru tags. its great.

Yes and no. You see, E621 is the third most popular furry site, with FA in first and Inkbunny in second (exist a video of that). Even that E621 gathers artwork from a lot sites the reason isn't in a higher position is because they have a quality filter, most of the content must be digital and at least kinda good looking so that rules out a lot artwork like stuff in Deviantart and Weasyl.

Adding a block list wouldn't work here because there aren't any (enforced) rules on tagging art. That's one of the few things that e6 does right, anyone can come by and add approrate tags to art posted by another user.
Like there's already Inkbunny for the cub freaks idk why FA is still having this struggle. Might be from it being a legacy site so there's a ton of old-school thinking on top of it being controlled by a very small group of people.
A very small group of people who are all for cub and wish a majority of the furry fandom wasn't so against it. The people in charge of FurAffinity are so out of touch with the rest of the fandom, it's really sad.

I think believing fictional characters have a age and that fanart is beholdent to reality is far more unhinged. We should judge it purely based on its execution. Thinking just because it’s art it’s not to follow logic is unhinged as yes in cases that’s fair! Murder art is ok as no one’s life was actually ended, but the issue is knowing why the stuff is bad is the first step.
Murder art is fine as there is no case of someone’s life actually being cut short or the mourning of the families effected… but with nsfw of “cubs” you do get the bars. The sexualization of their smaller bodies and the type of crowds that enjoy that content are the bads of actual map nsfw.

I really think FA needs a damn tag filtering/blacklist feature already. It needed it from the beginning, honestly. As unbothered as I am by most of the stuff I see on there (because I've seen some shit in my time), I'd still like to browse FA without seeing a bunch of naked furries wrestling in a pile of literal shit, or a detailed and violent sexual assault/necrophilia comic. Of course some people are irresponsible and won't use the tag features, but there are plenty who will, and I don't think that's reason to not implement a blacklist feature. As much as I wish people didn't sexualize certain horrible things, I could tolerate it if I was able to block the tags that upset and bother me or gross me out.
If you are only using it as aggregation, then why not just use e6?

If by "aggregation" you mean a way to group all the tags I enjoy together so that I can see them easier, that is. The blacklist is pretty much the opposite of that. Also, Isn't e621 the furry equivalent of r34? Because the majority of stuff I interact with in the furry fandom is SFW, and I'm not interested in frequenting an all-NSFW furry site.

My concern is how do you enforce this on furries. Like its not how you would with regular humans, everyone knows how a human looks and how an adult human looks. But with furries, theres so much that differs from person to person. You can have an artist who draws their characters as very human with a human body , just with fur, a tail, and an animal head. You can have an artist who only draws furries with a human stature but animal traits like digi legs, no breasts, or other very human parts. Or even take basically most of the South East Asian side of the fandom where its very common to see furries with big head, huge eyes, tiny snouts, and small compact bodies. Like how do you decide what is and isnt child like across the board, cuz thats gonna be so different for every artist. And how do you avoid not wrongly moderating someone whos adult character is short and cute. It just seems so odd, like how do you properly gauge something like that? Additionally, say someone commissions NSFW art of their fursona, who shares their body type and they're a short adult, or they have a smaller bust. I know thats more of an extreme case, but like...more often than not peoples fursonas share their body type, or look like their ideal selves. The idea is good, but I feel like this rule is gonna catch a lot of other artists in its net that don't need to be there.

That's fundamentally the problem, but not because of FA: It's because many countries have laws that try to do just that, and those laws are just as vague as you would expect. By way of example, the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 here in the UK:
"Child”, subject to subsection (6), means a person under the age of 18. (6)Where an image shows a person the image is to be treated as an image of a child if-(a)the impression conveyed by the image is that the person shown is a child, or (b)the predominant impression conveyed is that the person shown is a child despite the fact that some of the physical characteristics shown are not those of a child.
You see the problem? This is an actual, go-to-prison-for-many-years law, but it still has to resort to such vagueness as 'impression conveyed.' How is a site, like FA supposed to ensure it complies with that? They just have to ban anything that looks a little suspiciously child-like, even to the slightest extend. You see big head and huge eyes and see cute, but a jury might decide child.
As a person who’s fursona is 4’ and is supposed to be immature by human adult standards (reflecting “my own brand” of maturity) I had to submit a report to see if I need to scrub my account of my own fursona. As of a week, they have not responded.
This can even be a problem with humans too, there are plenty of real life people that have a variety of conditions whom despite being full adults, can appear somewhat childlike, and its also not completely unheard of for literal 12-14 year olds to look like they are 18+.
This can include people whom are just usually short, have somewhat childlike proportions, women whom have small breasts, and trans men.
So yeah, considering that this is a problem with real life humans, its a nightmare when it comes to furry species, especially when you have someone like me, whom is a bit of a realism nut. Ie, species are different sizes depending on what they are, polar bear anthro's are literally the size of polar bears, most species real life animal counterpart that are smaller than humans, my anthro version is also smaller than humans, with one of my average cat or fox anthro's usually not being any taller than 150 cm, a squirrel anthro of mine topping at around 120-130, and a mouse anthro topping out at 30. but many of these smaller species have enlarged heads to support a human sized or close to it brain (except for the very small species). Likewise, I'm one of those few that doesn't draw gigantic breasts on a wasp waisted female either, in face most of my anthro's dont have breasts at all. And while i dont draw a lot of outright porn, dont care much for it, my furry characters are nearly always nude, because i asked the question, why would a being with fur wear clothing regularly like humans. The answer is, they wouldst, because they dont need to.

We look at furry art and see a character - there's species stereotypes, fictional environments, all sorts of things to speculate upon just as you did.
But the non-furry - the person who may end up as a DA, prosecutor, or jury member - doesn't see any of that. They make their judgement of the image in a few seconds. Good? Bad? Meh? Or "That's disgusting and should be illegal." The normal person doesn't care in the slightest about the imagined practicalities of brain size in an anthropomorphic body. They just see 'looks like a kid.'
As someone who enjoys the concept of vore in a non-sexual manner, I still believe that regardless, minors should *NEVER* be depicted in fetishes or fetish-adjacent content. It is true that vore can be non-sexual but that does NOT mean that it is safe for minors, be it real or fictional. FurAffinity staff continue to disgust me.

I used to be a decently popular writer on FA. Got dinged for one of my stories in 2021 with a 1 week suspension and just decided to liquidate my whole catalogue of content after figuring out it was the only safe move to play with how they constantly change the rules and expect you to be magically aware of what random thing you wrote about in one of 100+ short stories 10 years ago.
To be clear guys, sofurry is still around and Toumal is much more cool and easy to get along with than the FA mods. I didn't get punished on sofurry, they just removed the story and I'm totally cool with that. People shouldn't be penalized for things they said and did years ago when the rules change and get applied retroactively, because honestly who can remember or keep track when there's real life things to keep us occupied like families, school, and jobs.

Wow, I’m really glad I stopped using FA when I did, fetishists really drove me off the site, and overall I left the furry fandom, really glad that I did, I have other things to do like World-building and using my past fursona/characters to tell stories.

We've gone full circle huh? We went from banning cub art which outright created Inkbunny (Which only added an extra step to finding, creating, and publishing cub porn as it was just as accessible as Furryaffinity) to allowing cub porn because it's technically being held to a standard that doesn't make sense (Ethically it's just as bad as other things that have always been allowed on the website and legally it's technically more safe than lolita and shotacon).
