I agree, I love Cruella. I'm wondering if Sean has ever seen the musical Wicked, which is incredibly popular and does the same thing. It provides a more sympathetic back story to a traditionally one dimensional villain and makes for a very entertaining story. Not saying Sean is not entitled to his opinion on that motif, but clearly many people like it, as long as its done well. I do agree that the story could use some tightening.

Naomi Scott was fantastic in the live-action remake of 'Aladdin.' "Speechless" is a great song too, even though it doesn't fit the definition of the term itself. You got Alice in Wonderland completely wrong. It is a sequel to the animation (1951). In the movie, it shows Alice remembering her visit to wonderland when she was younger. It is not a quick cash grab. In fact, I think that the plot is great and creative! Sure the movie's CGI was a little rough but I still think it was good for 2010. I do have an unhealthy addiction to Alice in Wonderland, so for me it would have to be Number 1, but that's just me personally.

  • @Jamie_Winsh
    @Jamie_Winsh 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +39

The Jungle Book 2016 is still easily the best Disney remake for me. I honestly can't think of anything negative about it. I love how they use the live action format to their advantage by making it more of a mature story, which it should be if it's meant to be with live action, real animals. The cast is absolutely on point, they all give great performances. The characters are still memorable and fun. The songs are still great and catchy. The action is tense and entertaining. The story is great and of course the CGI is just absolutely stunning. Its also heartfelt and has a nice bit of humour in there too which is good. I will also say that i think alice in Wonderland is underrated. The sequel is bad but the og. Now i agree the film has clear flaws, you can see through the CGI alot but i think the way they bring to life the world of wonderland was done fantastically! The characters and world of wonderland are both so quirky and fun

@@Jamie_Winsh I agree with you on Emma Stone. Personally I loved Cruella, it’s my favorite of the Disney live action remakes/reimaginings, and I know it didn’t make a ton of money at the box office, but I hope that we get a new remake 101 Dalmatians that is a continuation of Cruella. And really if you stop and think about it. There’s no reason why you have to make Cruella look old in the possible remake.

Cinderella is easily my favorite remake! I would say it's better than the original by a lot! I'm also a big fan of Christoper Robin. Mainly because I ADORE Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell and I think they're performances are as fantastic as always!! And I also watched the Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh on loop growing up so I think it's cool just to hear Pooh's and Tigger's voices again. I understand that it might not work for everyone but I personally love it at least for the performances!!

In my opinion, Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast are the best. Alicja is one of the few films that has its own story, the characters are colorful than ever, visually and musically it is a feast and there is no denying that this film has contributed a lot to pop culture and since the premiere many people have been inspired by this film Burton. And Beauty and the Beast is also better than the original. Each character is deeper and well played, visually refined in one hundred percent, and in the finale it squeezed out of me a lot of tears and emotions that the original could only dream of

I think that scene at 1:30 was supposed to be a reflection on how far Disney has come since Pinochio but i dont think its in good taste since Pinochio isnt techincally the first Disney film that would be Snow white if we are talking in terms of tradional picture. And because its more distracting that Gepedo would have these in his work shop. Maybe if they open up with it like in a Tree hallow with Jimmy sorta like in the in the original with him singing the Star song to have it show how far Disney as come without incooperating itself into the movies canon. Just a thought.

Wow, that was great! As always, I lovwd the passion and enthusiasm in your videos and the time amd energy you took produce it. That being said, I would not have put the Scorceror's Apprentice (2010) in, Id however have included The Nutcracker amd the Four Realms (2018), Mary Poppins Returns (2018), and A Wrinkle in Time (2018) the latter which is.a remake, but not from animation, I agreed with a lot, but not everything, and given individual reviews on these movies I was very much surprised at how they ended up in the ranking. Pete's Dragon (2016) I would have put lower, Mulan (2020) works as a film, but not as a Mulan film, my dads the only one who likes it in my family. The Jungle Book (2016) definitely improves on the original and adds too it and I thought did phenomenal, by that same token, I also believe thet Dumbo (2019) did a great job with that, they ditched half the film because people wouldve crucified them for the political incorrectness, so they had half an hour to remake, and had to addnto make it work, I thought it worked really well, and honestly really enjoyed the human characters in the film, Dumbo himself did look a little wacky and felt like a side character in his own film, I wish that Dumbo (2019) and The Lion King (2019) had ended up feeling like The Jungle Book (2016) and Dolittle (2020). realistic and conveyed emotion well, obviously thays my opinion not a fact. I completely agreed with the bottom 3, but wouldve lowered others to that point, Ive not seen everything on this list as Ive not been on this earth long enough, but I plan on seeing and deciding reviews for my self, I really enjoyed Christopher Robin (2018) and thought it was adorable, never really liked Winnie the Pooh as kid, but was drawn to it, and it reminded me of my childhood memories if imagining whole new worlds with my stuffed animals and other toys, and that made it short sweet, and in my honest opinion, the perfect length, and if I had to rank, id put it in the top 5 honestly. Imma end my comment before I write a book, another great video Sean! Thank-you!

    1. Maleficent (It's unique, magical, powerful, and flips the story over. I was hooked from the first moment.)
    2. Beauty and the Beast (I saw it in theaters twice, own and play the soundtrack all the time, and even convinced my brother to like this one when he doesn't like most Disney films. It's one of my favorite films of all time and is very close to my heart with its characters and themes. )
    3. Jungle Book (I was enthralled with the world they created here that embraces all the elements of the jungle with the characters and takes you on a new journey. I was already enjoying it when we got more with the wolf family, but the Monkey King's darkness which makes me think of Heart of Darkness got me to look closer. This film solved a personal story block for me and opened a world for me. )
    4. Alice in Wonderland (It's wonky and a very mind-bending journey both into the memories of the past (the animated show) and embracing the scary new world of adulthood on your own terms. I haven't watched the second much after - it was too much - but this one was weird and made you think in all the right ways.)
    5. Maleficent Mistress of Evil. (It's rushed too much and that really ruins the pacing but I love the messages, the growth of the side character Phillip from the first movie, and the conclusion of Maleficent's love for Aurora. )
    6. 101 Dalmations (I grew up with it and quote it in my family as catch phrases. It's nostalgic for me).
From this show, I know I need to watch Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. I already knew I needed to watch Cinderella, though my favorite imagining there will always be Ever After. Thanks for reinforcing which ones to skip. 😭

MY TOP 10 IN THE LIST OF DISNEY LIVE ACTION REMAKE
In my opinion the live actions don not have to be identic to the animated classic or replace it, it has to complement the animated classic with creativity and be their own movie so you can watch and enjoy the both the live action and the animated classic equally i personally prefer the live actions than the animated versions because the movies have more life dont get me wrong of course the voices in the animated classic have a lot of life but i have always prefer live action movies, movies with real actors looking there movements, there expressions there breathing how the actors actually had a sensory experience filming the film and not just adding the voice thats why for me the live actions are a huge idea and are movies with a lot of life.
with that thinking this is my list 10 worth disney remake movies.
    1. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST 2017
    2. ALADDIN 2019
    3. THE LITTLE MERMAID 2023
    4. ALICE IN WONDERLAND 2010 (HUGE TIM BURTON FAN AND SO DIFFERENT FROM THE ANIMATED)
    5. JUNGLE BOOK 2016
    6. THE LION KING 2019 (huge fan of national geographic this is probably the best animated classic the graphics are so good that to me is a live action.
    7. MULAN 2020 (its respects lots the animated film is their own thing and i would watch the animated one or the live action one they complement each other and both are great).
    8. CRUELLA 2021.
    9. DUMBO (Huge Tim Burton fan, Huge fan of theme parks love the change of trying to fly dumbo for the spectacle it complements the animated one and its his own thing.
    10. MALEFICENT 2014

    Here’s my Top 5
    5. Christopher Robin-I don’t think the Winnie the Pooh source material works the best for the runtime and story being told, but I still think that there’s enough here to make for an enjoyable film
    4. Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book-I rewatched this movie for the first time in over ten years about two weeks ago, and I enjoyed it as a blend of Kipling’s source material and the Disney animated film
    3. Cinderella-I don’t think this movie fully captures the magic of the Disney animated film, but this is still a solid movie that has very good direction from Kenneth Branagh and a good lead performance from Lily James
    2. The Jungle Book-Like The Lion King 2019, this movie has very impressive photo realistic CGI animals, but unlike that film, it has a human actor that grounds the movie very well in its emotions and themes that’s it’s trying to convey
    1. Aladdin-It helps that I’m also a big fan of Guy Ritchie, but because of the nature of the story being told and Will Smith being great at playing Genie, I think that this is the best Disney live action remake and definitely the one that I get the most enjoyment out of

The fact that Naomi Scott just basically disappeared after this film is wild to me, she was stellar. The fact that the “new song” in that film is many people’s favorite is enough to put her on the map and I’ve not seen her at all since.

Here are my top five out of the ones I've seen (if anyone's curious, the only ones I haven't seen are Mulan, the Sorcerer's Apprentice and the Little Mermaid):
    1. The Jungle Book (2016)
    2. Cinderella (2015)
    3. 101 Dalmatians (1996)
    4. Christopher Robin (2018)
    5. Lady and the Tramp (2019)
As for my personal bottom spot, that would be a tie between Pinocchio and the Lion King.

Alice in wonderland & maleficent werent live action remakes. Disney just produced tim Burton's reimagining for alice in wonderland after 3d became huge. Maleficent was Disney's take on Wicked. Take a villian and show a good side of her and while telling their side of rhe story. I would say Cinderella is the first official live action remake.

    Bottom of the list:
    The Lion King
    Pinocchio
    Lady and the Tramp
    Peter Pan and Wendy.
*Note: There is not a universe for me where the live action remakes exclusive to D+ are worse than Lion King 2019.*
    Middle of the list:
Beauty and The Beast (quick note this is where I think the disney live action remakes started to show cracks)
    The Sorcerer's Apprentice
    Maleficient Mistress of Evil
    Maleficient
    Mulan
    102 Dalmatians
    Dumbo
    Top 10 list:
    10. Jungle Book 2016
    9. Pete's Dragon
    8. Christopher Robin
    7. Alice through the Looking Glass
    6. Alice in Wonderland
    5. Cruella
    4. 101 Dalmatians
    3. The Little Mermaid
    2. Jungle Book 1994 ( I need to find and watch this which is why Its high on the list.)
    1. Aladdin

The remakes of *CINDERELLA, THE JUNGLE BOOK* and *PETE'S DRAGON* are considered _better_ than their animated counterparts. Good for them.
