After seeing Hayden’s line delivery in Kenobi and Ahsoka I def think he mastered Anakin. I mean his ability to tweak his performance to mimic the clone wars Anakin was just perfection
I think it's very noticeable in ROTS that Hayden improved on his AOTC performance. Now with his return in Kenobi and Ahsoka i think he's perfect. His AOTC performance though i still think is dreadful
@@raidengoodman8754 yeah I rewatched Aotc with my family for may the 4th and my nostalgia goggles kinda faded seeing my family visibly cringe at his dialogue with padme😂
@@rigby_rich3650 I mean, part of it was intentional. You're intended to kind of cringe. However, I find some of his scenes with Obi-Wan to still be weak. He's clearly sill trying to master the role
Some of you people’s standards have been pushed into a black hole, thanks to the over saturation of Star Wars content the last half decade. Hayden Christensen is a horrible actor and was universally disliked up until he returned for some nostalgia bait series. Stop it with this, I beg.
I think it’s fair to say that Hayden was bad. All the actors were working with a terrible script, but Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmuid, Natalie Portman, Samuel L Jackson etc were all able to make it work purely with their skills as actors, and Hayden clearly struggled to make it work
People just misunderstand what George Lucas was going for and wanted Anakin to be different. He was supposed to be cringey, awkward, and tempermental in Attack of the Clones. He was a teenager taught since age 9 by the Jedi order to surpress his emotions and romantic feelings, and was going to grow up to be an evil mass murderer.
Perhaps Hayden was miscast at the time, but he’s definitely grown into the role. If there’s one thing the Disney+ shows did right, it was giving him opportunity to return to the role as a more experienced actor. His performance was easily the best out of any actor in the Ashoka series (well maybe except for Ezra’s actor, he was pretty great too).
Agreed! He was never a bad actor, just look at Life as a House or Shattered Glass to see that. I firmly think he just wasn't given the right direction or writing, I think on the special features for Revenge of the Sith it showed some filming takes where after he wanted to do another one and Lucas said they had to move on.
@@paxus90Yeah, I’d argue that in the prequels it was just that he was given a bad script as an inexperienced actor. I’m sure he would’ve done much better if the script (dialogue especially) was better written. You can also see how much he had improved between AOTC and ROTs.
I’m tired of people saying that Henry Cavill was a bad Superman he wasn’t. He brought his own take on the character. Though many may not have liked it because some say it tarnishes Superman’s reputation. I really loved man of steel.
……nah, you guys are a bit nostalgia blind. Hayden had an amazing look when he wasn’t saying any of the horrible dialogue but there definitely could’ve been others that could’ve given just as good of looks while also giving the shitty dialogue a bit more passion, like how Ewan was able to.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAboutHe is certainly not the worst. He acted the way George asked him to act. Talked the way George wanted him to talk. I don't think it was bad casting. It was a bad script. I'm one of the old heads. Saw return of the Jedi at the theater. I'm totally fine with him. It's George's direction and or script that was lacking. Hayden got the brunt of it because he was portraying the greatest villain of all time in Darth vader. That's why people hammered him so hard. All the sand talk and everything else. That's not bad casting that's a bad script.
it only carries the weight you give it in your mind. as you grow up, you realise the oscars are literally just award ceremonies and mean nothing, but when you’re younger it sounds so prestigious and honourable.
One of the worst casting for me ever was Kristen Wigg as the Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984. Her skill set as an actress and comedian did not fit at all for that character whatsoever.
Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face is another one. His version of Two-Face was goofy. Two-Face is not goofy. Aaron Eckhart was the best Two-Face in live action. He nailed the character to a T.
Jonathan Groff as Smith in The Matrix Resurrections. I still do not forgive WB for not delaying the movie or trying to find a way to work around Hugo Weaving's schedule to bring him back. No one can do Smith like he did and it showed with Groff's performance. It felt like he was trying too hard to be Hugo Weaving and it took me out of the movie. Also, idk if it was a direction thing or not, but the dude cannot do fight scenes. It looked so off in that bathroom fight
For me Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. Let me say first Emma is not a bad actress. She was a good Belle. But Beauty and the Beast is a musical with some big songs. Emma is not a great singer by any means. They should have cast somebody who had some musical experience.
In the Last Airbender Shymanlan made mainly four absolutely terrible choices in regards to the talent: - for Aang, the main character of his then planned trilogy he casted a kid only experienced in martial arts, no acting ability was taken into account - for Sokka, my favourite character from the show, he picked Alice's boyfriend from the twilight Saga - for Katara he chose the girl that would eventually play mark walberg's daughter in transformers age of extinction - and finally for Zhao, my favourite villain from the series, he hired the pizza guy from Spiderman 2 to play this intimidating villain
Now some of these are bad castings, Holland & Wahlberg as Nathan and Sully, Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, The Last Airbender cast. But then some like Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Henry Cavill as Superman, even Hayden Christiansen as Anakin felt more like they had potential but were let down by bad writing. Even with you mentioning Ewan McGregor, yeah he was under the same direction and still did fine, but he also didn’t have some of the worst dialogue in the prequels. Like some truly awful castings from the top of my head: Jessica Alba as Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four movies and Mila Kunis as The Wicked Witch in Oz the Great and Powerful.
I still don’t understand the hate that Topher Grace gets as Eddie Brock. I know he’s not comically accurate, but I don’t think that’s what Sam Raimi was going for. He was trying to make a story of Peter becoming Flash Thompson, and he made Eddie Brock the nerd who Peter would bully. So, Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3 is supposed to feel like another Peter. As a result, Topher Grace does a great job as the snarky photographer. If you want further details on why I think it works, check out Gubz’s video where he defends Spider-Man 3.
Hey Sean, you should check out the short film of Uncharted that had Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake. That should have been made into a full-length feature instead of what we actually got.
Some people say that it makes sense for Anakin to sound subdued but there is a difference between being subdued and being wooden and bland, and none of the other actors who play Jedi sound nearly as wooden and bland as he does, and this is also true for Rosario Dawson as Ashoka. 5:14 If you were able to resist using that meme you would deserve every award in human history. 7:04 Second verse same as the first. 12:17 Now I can't say this for certain because the book is a non-auditory medium but I'm pretty sure Johnathan Harker never had a bad accent. 14:09 Topher Grace isn't a bad actor but he's anything but an asshole, hater, spiteful, douchebag, jealous, paranoid, bodybuilding, intimidating supervillain 16:00 Third verse same as the first. 23:07 You mispronounced it it's Suckerberg, not Zuckerberg. 24:11 Like Billy Bob Gates, and everyone's favorite embryo in a man's body (which is a statement that incredibly offensive and mean to embryos), Elon Musk.
The joker in Ayers cut would not have been any different. Ayer filmed all the scenes that we got in the theatrical cut. Leto just had about 10-15 minutes of material cut. And I'm willing to bet more of the same.
Hayden Christensen was literally The Perfect Anakin. Everything He said and everything He did was exactly what George Lucas wanted The Character of Anakin to be like. And especially with The Disney Plus Shows He just Proves how Good of an Actor He is. George literally said that The Story of Anakin Skywalker is The Story of Star Wars And if You don't like Hayden, That's fine but He Perfectly Embodied who Anakin Was.
In terms of Hayden, I HIGHLY recommend people check Shattered Glass out. He turns a MUCH stronger performance in that, and that was around the same time as the prequels. I agree with others, he grew into the role more with time. Also, I met him at Fan Expo Dallas last year, and he’s such an awesome guy in person. I hope he gets a legitimate comeback in the near future.
Hayden as Anakin was just unwatchable. Idk if i should blame hayden for the awful performance or George's bs script Jared leto in superhero stuff was awful casting Jessie Eisenberg as lex
That guy who played cyclops in x men first class. Terrible. He needs to be a leader, strong, tall, muscular, extremely handsome. Not insecure and fragile and anxious. Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse was awful too. He's supposed to be huge, not a short guy. Casting for that whole x men younger franchise was pretty awful overall. psylocke, storm, angel, jean grey, beast. all terrible
I'll say this about Hayden. While I thought he was pretty bad in "Attack Of The Clones," I think he was really the heart in "Revenge Of The Sith," especially during the 3rd act.
Im gonna get crucified for this but Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. Most of the love for him is nostalgia. He looked way too old in 2002 to have been cast to play a 17 year old, and lacks the charisma, charm, and quipiness that define Spider Man in the comics. He was just meek, stiff, and awkward for the whole trilogy except for when he has the symbiote suit. I think they overcorrected with Andrew Garfield and made him too cool (but that's still more entertaining than too meek), and got the perfect mix with Tom Holland. It helps that he finally actually looked like a teenager too. His performance is way closer to Yuri Lowenthal's in the PS4 games and most of the good animated shows than Tobey or Andrew were
Love it. Great points about Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor under the same circumstances but not receiving the same criticisms. Great work as always, Sean!
The “Uncharted” movie is the worst Tom Holland as Spider-Man, NOT Nathan Drake And Mark Wahlberg as Fake Ass Sully They were chosen ONLY because they are celebrities
Chloe Grace Moretz as Carrie is one of the worst casting choices of my generation. Followed by whoever the girl is they casted as Azula in the Avatar Live Action series. That chick could've been anyone else in the series, but making her Azula opened her up to Audience backlash that was deserved because she doesn't look like her at all.
@@miu6756 the man has charisma. I see bits of Superman in him. What could've been if he had a competent director to work with who understood the character.
I don't think you can put them in the same Category. I see people hating Hayden as Anakin. And while people do hate these versions of Batman and Superman and how they were written. But I've rarely seen people actually hate these castings. Most people seem to agree their acting was great. Just the role wasn't well written.
@@Korra228 but if problem is only with the director (in case of Superman) why Cavill is bland and one dimensional also in his other roles? With hayden and affleck i think there is enough ”evidence” that director was the real problem, but not with Henry.
If uncharted wasn’t supposed to be an adaptation of the game, it would have been great. Personally I love this movie (I haven’t played the games but I know fans don’t like the casting) the story, casting, action and comedy was perfect. If I wasn’t called uncharted it would a been a solid 9/10 movie in my opinion
Think he’s great as Eddie but they needed to work on venom a lil more. If they wanted him to look creepy and uncanny but slimmer then lean into it more
I agree on Jard Letto as The Joker. He was not The Joker, not even close. His Joker laugh was even horrible. There's a lot of great Joker's out there. Letto is not one of them.
I can’t deny that Hayden Christenson’s performance as Anakin was bad, but it’s hard to blame him when the material he had to work with was so bad. Nobody could make the sand monologue sound cool.
And I also think we need a more charming handsome actor to play the love interest for Natalie Portman if we're going to believe that she's into him. I think the best way I've ever heard it says is 'I understand why Anakin is into her. I don't understand why Padme is into him.'
Exactly I'm confused why Sean likes this comment when he literally says he thinks he was miscast possibly being because of bad direction but likes a comment that explains how he wasn't miscast it was just shit dialogue.
I couldn't picture anyone but Hayden Christensen playing Anakin Skywalker. The parts of his performance that people hate are down to the dialog...not his delivery. I enjoyed this video. Thanks Sean 🙂
He was a good flash, he just isn’t a great human being. If that is what is informing *worst casting* for you, then you should say « Ezra Miller in every movie he was cast in »
@@DCStrangerThings which flash ? How hypocritical of a comment, considering the MANY different iterations of the flash 🙄🤦🏻♂️ they don’t all look or act the same . If you can’t deal with that, then just stop consuming medias 😑
Tom Holland and Mark Whalberg for Nathan Drake and Sully gotta be the top of the list for me personally. Love the Uncharted games and the characters, and I just laughed uncontrollably when I heard they were cast 🤣 I gotta agree with the Will Smith one as Genie too. Not a fan of that remake and Will Smith as the Genie is just meh to me.
Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One. Such a blatant example of Hollywood white washing an Asian character when it wasn’t necessary. That casting still makes me mad just thinking about it.
I think she was great though. White washing aside, it was a great choice. An old Asian man would've been cliche so she's very interesting for the role.
@@Korra228 I’ll definitely agree with you that in execution it works mainly because Tilda Swinton is a great actress. It just doesn’t work for me as just a casting choice.
I think the two people who worked best in the prequels were Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid. I think Hayden got so much hate because he shared so much of his screen time with those two. I think a lot of it is the dialogue and direction from George Lucas, but Hayden’s struggling was really highlighted because he was constantly with the two people who made it work the best.
I remember reading Topher's casting in Spiderman 3 was specifically Sam Raimi was trying to find the WORST casting choice for the role because the studios forced Raimi to put Venom in the movie.
I think Topher Grace worked for what they were going for in that movie because he looks a lot like Tobey Maguire in many ways so it was cool to have him be the anti Peter Parker in a sense
For me I think Hayden did a good job, well I did grow up with Hayden so I do have some biased but I will admit it he wasn’t great in AOTC some stuff is very questionable though I do think he was given Worse material then the other actors in that film. I think he did a decent job mainly in the Second half of the film. I think though he did a much much better job in ROTS maybe he was just directed Better in that one or maybe he was just a better actor or maybe he just was more used to playing the character idk but I think overall he did a pretty good job. if he was how he was in AOTC as he was in ROTS then I would say he did a really good job but some stuff in AOTC in like I said questionable.
Cavil sucks as Clark Kent unless you think Superman is just a lifeless buff guy. Zero charisma whatsoever, you don't understand Superman if you think that's a minor issue.
Sean, I posted this one on Twitter, but one for me that still sticks out like a sore thumb is Darryl Hannah in Wall Street (1987). Sean Young even kept telling Oliver Stone to give her the part, but Young even showed up late and unprepared. Stone even admitted that everyone told him Hannah was miscast and also admitted that he was too proud to replace her.
15:45 thought you said Alan ritchinson as snape and i was very confused on when that happened and why i havet seen it.... also i want to see that movie
Alan Rickman as Snape was great, and RDJ as Iron Man fit his personality, so it is perfect casting. Johnny Depp was also perfect for the role. I disagree with all three.
I think Henry Cavill did a good job, but I do think the direction he was given left a lot to be desired. Overall, I wouldn’t say he was miscast, I say that it was a fumble on the part of WB, Snyder, Goyer, etc, going with the type of story and overall direction that they went with. I think with better storytelling and direction, his performance would’ve shined through better
I think Lucas casted Hayden mainly because he physically was good for the role. Since Lucas made the decision to make Anakin have a resemblance to his son Luke in Phantom Menace, so logically for ep 2 you would need someone who's still has that resemblance to Luke and Jake Lloyd, but is as tall as Sebastian Shaw and can physically do the lightsaber combat. Which on paper Hayden checks all those requirements. Only issue was at the time he was a fairly new actor and the dialogue didn't do him any favours.
Hayden, at best, has always been a mediocre actor. Not only was the dialogue and characterization around Anakin completely garbage, but a character that complex and pivotal was always going to be too tall of an ask for an actor of Hayden’s caliber.
@@Alvaro-rq8snhe had like 30 seconds of screen time and like 2 lines in a post credit alternate reality scene at the end of the movie which was meant to tease his lost idea for a post apocalyptic justice league movie.
Here are my reactions to these Worst Casting Picks: 1: As someone who grew up with the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, mainly Revenge of the Sith, I have always had a lot of love and nostalgia for those films. While far from perfect, I still respect what George Lucas was trying to do and I’d even say that all 3 films are light years ahead of the majority of Disney’s Star Wars! As for Hayden Christensen, I don’t think he was as bad as some people make him out to be. I think a lot of it does come down to the writing from Lucas, but I would say that Christensen is far better in Revenge of the Sith than Attack of the Clones! Since the prequels, I think that Hayden has really grown into the role and by improving on his craft, he has finally become accepted and beloved by fans. 2: I agree with your thoughts on this one Sean. George Clooney is basically Bruce Wayne in real life so I’d say the casting was almost pitch perfect BUT the film as a whole is straight up BAD! Ultimately, I feel as if Clooney was the right Batman in the wrong film. 3: I don’t really have any real connection to The Last Airbender franchise so I wouldn’t really know if the whole cast was horribly miscast or not. All I know is that the 2010 film was pretty bad! 4: I personally do not like Brie Larson anyway so I would definitely say that she was the wrong choice to play Captain Marvel. I can’t quite put my finger on it but she just doesn’t have any likability or charisma whatsoever that makes you want to root for her or even care about her as this character. We are three films in now with her as this character and it still isn’t working! 5: As a big fan of the Uncharted game series, I 100% agree that both Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are horribly miscast here! I do like both actors in general but they do not resemble Nathan Drake and Sully in any way whatsoever. The funny thing though is that I do think that Marky Mark would have been better cast as Nate, and Tom could have played him as a kid in some flashback scenes which could have worked out better than what we got! 6: As much as I actively despise Jared Leto’s Joker and the original Suicide Squad film, I do still believe that Leto could have been a good Joker if it wasn’t for the direction that David Ayer chose to go with. But everything about Leto’s Joker is just WRONG! 7: I have never seen Bram Stoker's Dracula so I can’t comment on this one. 8: I am an active defender of Spider-Man 3 to be honest. I don’t think it is nearly as bad as many people make it out to be! It has its issues but I still think it delivers a satisfying conclusion to that trilogy of Spider-Man films. I also have never really understood the hate for Topher Grace as Venom either. I think he delivered exactly what the film was supposed to convey, he was the Anti-Peter. He was basically what Peter would have ended up being if he didn’t remove the Black Suit. 9: Those Hot Take choices are madness! 10: While I was initially nervous about Will Smith playing the Genie, he ended up really surprising me and quickly became easily the best part of the whole film! 11: Before Man of Steel, I was never really a Superman fan. But it was Henry Cavill who made me the Superman fan I am today. I think he was perfectly cast and it’s such a shame that he wasn’t used to the fullness of his potential. 12: Stephen Amell as Casey Jones in a live action Turtles film should work but for whatever reason it doesn’t! 13: While I don’t completely hate the Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice as much as seemingly everyone else does, I do agree that Jesse Eisenberg was horribly miscast here!
Henry Cavill was right for Superman. He just got caught in bad writing. Same goes for Ben Affleck. He was right for Batman. He just got caught in bad writing.
I reserve my hatred for Hayden since I don't know how much to blame on Lucas, but when I learned Leonardo DeCaprio could've been Anakin but turned it down, I can't stop wondering what could've been.
While Cavill’s Superman is terrible IMO, it’s not his fault. It was a great casting, Snyder and Goyer just destroyed the character. I wish Cavill had gotten a chance to play the real Superman, but after he killed Zod in MOS that was just never going to happen, his character was tarnished. Hoping James Gunn can redeem Superman and make the first good live action Superman movie since Superman II. I just want to see a Superman who is infinitely good like the one in STAS and All-Star Superman. At least we’ve been getting that with My Adventures With Superman.
A bit lesser known, but Jennifer Love Hewitt as Liz in the Garfield movie. One of the main draws of Liz is that she’s always got a sharp comeback for every line Jon attempts, and it leads to really fun back-and-forth between them. Jen was just . . . sweet and smiley.
that’s less of a miscast and more of a shitty script with shitty direction. if the actress is given literally no witty lines or comebacks to work with then they can’t exactly make that work
Hayden was perfect for Anakin, the dialogue was almost entirely because of bad writing and bad direction from George! The facial expressions Hayden makes during attack of the clones and revenge of the Sith scream Anakin, like in the Jedi temple before he kills mace, or on mustafar, or after his mom dies, after he killed mace, and probably my favorite scene of the prequels was when Anakin sped off on his speeder to find his mom while duel of the fates plays, and without any crappy dialogue from George and hayden just kills it, no one else could play Anakin
Hayden Christensen did nothing wrong. He played an awkward teenager who had limited social skills outside of the Jedi Order PERFECTLY. The reason he seems awkward is because he's doing his job. Besides, he's much better in Revenge of the Sith because he's grown as a person.
I completely agree with you on Brie Larson. I've got nothing against her or the character, and I think she's a talented actress but man was she miscast. This character should be charming and empowering and fun to watch and you want to go on these adventures with her and like her, kind of like Leia in Star Wars or Katniss in The Hunger Games. But her performance is wooden and detached, which I can understand for the first movie since she was taken in by the Kree and taught to control her emotions and has been essentially amnesiac but she just doesn't do it as the character. I don't buy her as this cocky, fun-loving jet pilot turned superhero. I think someone like Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck or Natalie Dormer would have been better in the role.
Also, I just rewatched Uncharted on a flight recently and thought Tom Holland was great as a young Nathan Drake. Mark Wahlberg however was a terrible fit as Sully. Jeffrey Dean Morgan would have been MUCH better.
Tangent: George should've hired a 2nd writer, maybe director, for the romance building scenes. Somebody who can sell that thing hard. It's really a weak link there. People hire 2nd units to focus on action scenes when that's not their strength. George should've recognized this.
People might get mad at me, but… Chris Pratt as Mario Jack Black as Bowser Chris is just voicing himself, NOT EVEN TRYING in the slightest to sound like Mario. Illumination ONLY put him in it because he’s a celebrity, not because he’s a good voice actor (The same with the upcoming Garfield movie) And Jack Black does a way better job, But he sounds like he’s doing an impression of Bowser rather than being Bowser.
For me, the biggest movie miscast that was not mentioned on this list would have to be Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum as the Phantom and Christine Daae in the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie. Both characters are described as having amazing singing voices (comparable to heavenly angels), but it is said that Butler only had four singing lessons before filming started and ultimately gave what many would consider one of the worst vocal performances in film. As for Rossum, while she had a nice voice, it’s not much to write home about and lacked the strength and power required for the character, especially when compared to an actual opera singer or other actresses who have played Christine for the stage production.
Worst Castings: Topher Grace as Eddie Brock Kathryn Newton as Grown Up Cassie Lang Will Poulter As Adam Warlock Jared Leto ad Joker Dragon Ball Evolution Cast, Especially Justin Chatwin. Jessie Eisenberg as Lexa Luthor Meryl Streep - The Bridges Over Madison County & Mama Mia
the dragon ball evolution cast is one of the worst casts i’ve ever seen. with some of the worst costume design i’ve ever seen. idk how you can fuck up that much with an adaptation. surely they had to be trying to be as far off from the source material as possible.
I disagree with Will Poulter. He did a good job with what he was given . Sure he can give on a darker and a more intimidating performance like he did in Detroit if that was asked of him , but that wasn't what Gunn wanted from him.
Don’t see how people can say Hayden is the problem in the prequels when there was clearly lots of problems with George Lucas and what he wanted from Hayden
Hayden isn't intimidating or imposing, his voice had little command or threat. I enjoy the prequels but deeo down I've never fully accepted them. The continuity isn't strong enough. As a kid I could envision Alec Guiness & Sebastion Shaw fighting in a real setting with heavy stakes and gravity. What we got was a whiny kid fighting in a video game lava world. Robert Pattinson isn't imposing either. It never crossed my mind that I could beat up Batman until him, the Robocop sounding footsteps didn't help much. Keanu, just messed up early for me. Sometimes playing an airhead really sticks and the stoner stink lingers. Every 'whoah' takes me right there to idiot land and I can't shake it.
I will always say this no matter how much backlash I get: Sissy Spacek was a terrible choice for Carrie. Similar to others' tboughts, she is not a bad actress. I don’t hate her at all, and I want to watch her other movies. I love the book 'Carrie', and Sissy Spacek unfortunately just does not fit Carrie at all. She does the best with what she's given, but the writing failed her performance. I'm sorry if this makes you lose any form of respect you had for me. I don’t want to ruin for you, I just wanted to share my opinion.
How is Henry Cavill on the thumbnail?? I don’t know if he’s in the video or not but like I don’t think even the people who dislike the Snyderverse think it was a bad casting that was the problem (I love those movies but yea)

Winning an "oscar" these days doesn't carry the same weight as it used to.
it only carries the weight you give it in your mind. as you grow up, you realise the oscars are literally just award ceremonies and mean nothing, but when you’re younger it sounds so prestigious and honourable.
Idk godzilla winning an Oscar is a pretty big deal

An interesting idea for a video would be "Casting Choices You Were Shocked Turned Out Well"
Heath Ledger is number 1 guaranteed
@@adamcade604 And Daniel Craig as Bond! The hate for "Blonde Bond" before Casino Royale was real!
@@adamcade604 Pattinson for The Batman as well!
Christopher Walken in Dead Zone for me. His unusual appearance actually helped since he's supposed to be a bit of a weird outcast with psychic powers
@@adamcade604 I knew this would be the first reply
Emmy Rossum would have been great
And, they should have given her more musical training
In the Last Airbender Shymanlan made mainly four absolutely terrible choices in regards to the talent:
- for Aang, the main character of his then planned trilogy he casted a kid only experienced in martial arts, no acting ability was taken into account
- for Sokka, my favourite character from the show, he picked Alice's boyfriend from the twilight Saga
- for Katara he chose the girl that would eventually play mark walberg's daughter in transformers age of extinction
- and finally for Zhao, my favourite villain from the series, he hired the pizza guy from Spiderman 2 to play this intimidating villain
Topher grace is probably number 1 for me. Even as a kid i had no idea what they were doing
Love this kinda video, I have to do something currently but I can’t wait to watch this tonight!
Hayden Christensen is not bad. It's the direction he was given, He did a good job in Revenge of The Sith and the shows.
Love the fire effect on your TV in the background! Really sets the mood. 😅
It was a last minute idea. Haha
I still dont have any interest in watching the uncharted movie because of the casting. So so off-putting to me
Hayden Christensen in my opinion is way better in ROTS than in AOTC (he’s pretty cringy in AOTC)
I’m kind of in the middle with Hayden Christensen I don’t think he was great but I don’t think he was horrible either. I kind of think he was OK.
Jared Leto was completely redeemed with ONE scene in Zack Snyder's Justice League. That was masterful work and truly the most insane Joker to date.
Offering Batman a reach around? It was literally just more of the same nonsense that he did in suicide squad.
I think masterful is a bit hyperbolic. He still sounded like he was trying to imitate Jim Carey or something.
U need to go back n watch the dark knight
You sound delusional
Hey Sean, you should check out the short film of Uncharted that had Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake. That should have been made into a full-length feature instead of what we actually got.
I have. It’s a good one
I’ve always thought Bryan Cranston should’ve played Sully in the Uncharted movie.
Some people say that it makes sense for Anakin to sound subdued but there is a difference between being subdued and being wooden and bland, and none of the other actors who play Jedi sound nearly as wooden and bland as he does, and this is also true for Rosario Dawson as Ashoka.

Leto Joker in ZSJL was really good would have loved to see Ayer original cut with Leto Joker
He was awful in that as well ???? Fym
The joker in Ayers cut would not have been any different. Ayer filmed all the scenes that we got in the theatrical cut. Leto just had about 10-15 minutes of material cut. And I'm willing to bet more of the same.
He was an improvement in ZSJL, but it's still like comparing dogshit to catshit
Hayden Christensen was literally The Perfect Anakin. Everything He said and everything He did was exactly what George Lucas wanted The Character of Anakin to be like. And especially with The Disney Plus Shows He just Proves how Good of an Actor He is. George literally said that The Story of Anakin Skywalker is The Story of Star Wars And if You don't like Hayden, That's fine but He Perfectly Embodied who Anakin Was.
It’s hilarious how for the DCEU they did some of the best casting for the main trio of characters and some of the worst casting for their villainz
Topher Grace as Eddie Brock works and I’ll die defending it.
Hayden as Anakin was just unwatchable.
Idk if i should blame hayden for the awful performance or George's bs script
Jared leto in superhero stuff was awful casting
Jessie Eisenberg as lex
His performance is way closer to Yuri Lowenthal's in the PS4 games and most of the good animated shows than Tobey or Andrew were
You trippen
Valid opinion but nooooo
Love it. Great points about Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor under the same circumstances but not receiving the same criticisms. Great work as always, Sean!
Another great George Clooney performance is in Oceans 11. Super charming and definitely rich Playboy vibes.
The “Uncharted” movie is the worst
Tom Holland as Spider-Man, NOT Nathan Drake
And Mark Wahlberg as Fake Ass Sully
They were chosen ONLY because they are celebrities
Aren’t all actors celebrities?
I do agree with what you are saying though!
Agreed. The actress felt like live action Jafar. Both do not have the edge of the character they playing
Knowing Snyder, the Luthor casting was probably his first choice as well
This was a great video! Love the discussion, killed it!

Great casting ruined by terrible writing - Hayden as Anakin, Affleck as Batman and Cavill as Superman
Hayden and Affleck yes but i’m not sure about Cavill. In every role he is very bland..
@@miu6756 the man has charisma. I see bits of Superman in him. What could've been if he had a competent director to work with who understood the character.
Also Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. He did try... But the script just didn't work AT ALL.
Topher Grace as Venom was a really odd casting choice
It feels like we ended up being the universe where they were like "what if he played venom" and the other universes got more traditional ones lol
I still think gopher Grace was a great Venom
@@CLagos39Ik it’s your opinion but objectively he sucks
Think he’s great as Eddie but they needed to work on venom a lil more. If they wanted him to look creepy and uncanny but slimmer then lean into it more
I agree on Jard Letto as The Joker. He was not The Joker, not even close. His Joker laugh was even horrible. There's a lot of great Joker's out there. Letto is not one of them.
He was just cos playing instead of being actual character

Shirley MacLaine as the Indian princess in Around the World in 80 Days.
My God, that was BAD! 🤦♂️🤦♂️
What would you have preferred, and actual Greek god? Hayden is a good looking dude. Like he is actually traditionally attractive.

I gotta agree with the Will Smith one as Genie too.
For me one of the worst casting Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in X-men Origins: Wolverine.
I think Topher Grace worked for what they were going for in that movie because he looks a lot like Tobey Maguire in many ways so it was cool to have him be the anti Peter Parker in a sense
Tyler Hoechlin is a far better Superman than Henry Cavill.
I like both honestly
Its Mark Whalberg for me they turn sully into him instead of him into sully
I think Lucas casted Hayden mainly because he physically was good for the role. Since Lucas made the decision to make Anakin have a resemblance to his son Luke in Phantom Menace, so logically for ep 2 you would need someone who's still has that resemblance to Luke and Jake Lloyd, but is as tall as Sebastian Shaw and can physically do the lightsaber combat. Which on paper Hayden checks all those requirements. Only issue was at the time he was a fairly new actor and the dialogue didn't do him any favours.
Hayden was a victim of poor writing and direction. Before I saw him in ahsoka I woukd have agreed after I think he was a good anakin
Hayden, at best, has always been a mediocre actor. Not only was the dialogue and characterization around Anakin completely garbage, but a character that complex and pivotal was always going to be too tall of an ask for an actor of Hayden’s caliber.
Its so funny that even teen titans go said that Leto was not a good joker
He was the best Joker, just in the SnyderCut, not in Suicide Squad. Writers were his kryptonite
@@Alvaro-rq8snhe had like 30 seconds of screen time and like 2 lines in a post credit alternate reality scene at the end of the movie which was meant to tease his lost idea for a post apocalyptic justice league movie.
Here are my reactions to these Worst Casting Picks:
1: As someone who grew up with the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, mainly Revenge of the Sith, I have always had a lot of love and nostalgia for those films.
Yeah, Will Smith's version of Friend Like Me was for me the part of the movie
In recent years Tom Holland as Nathan Drake is easily the one that comes to mind first. Makes zero sense.
Kirsten Dunst as MJ in the raimi trilogy
I know she played gwen stacy, but bryce dallas howard would've been a way better mj in those films
I don't care what anyone says about Uncharted: I've never played the game, but the movie was fun! 3/5 stars
A bit lesser known, but Jennifer Love Hewitt as Liz in the Garfield movie. One of the main draws of Liz is that she’s always got a sharp comeback for every line Jon attempts, and it leads to really fun back-and-forth between them. Jen was just . . . sweet and smiley.
that’s less of a miscast and more of a shitty script with shitty direction.
if the actress is given literally no witty lines or comebacks to work with then they can’t exactly make that work
Hayden Christensen was great casting. The issue wasn’t him, it was the script he was given. George Lucas is to blame for the awful dialogue.
Leto was trash as joker. Overrated actor in general.
I have a couple picks: Keanu Reeves as Constantine, Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone in Godfather 3 and Emma Watson in Beauty and The Beast 2017
Yeah definitely agree with Keanu
surprised no one else talked about Sofia coppola- one of the most infamous miscasting of classic cinema.
It was highly cathartic to hear about Eisenberg as Lex Luthor; I've been saying this for ages now and honestly haven't seen anyone else call this out.
Hayden is perfect as Anakin. The dialogue is cheesy but its not his fault. I think he is amazing
People might get mad at me, but…
Chris Pratt as Mario
Jack Black as Bowser
Chris is just voicing himself, NOT EVEN TRYING in the slightest to sound like Mario. Illumination ONLY put him in it because he’s a celebrity, not because he’s a good voice actor (The same with the upcoming Garfield movie)
And Jack Black does a way better job, But he sounds like he’s doing an impression of Bowser rather than being Bowser.
Everyone basically agreed with that as soon as it was announced with pratt
Eh, Jack Black does better as Bowser, than Anya Taylor Joy as Peach.
Worst Castings:
Topher Grace as Eddie Brock
Kathryn Newton as Grown Up Cassie Lang
Will Poulter As Adam Warlock
Jared Leto ad Joker
Dragon Ball Evolution Cast, Especially Justin Chatwin.
Jessie Eisenberg as Lexa Luthor
Meryl Streep - The Bridges Over Madison County & Mama Mia
the dragon ball evolution cast is one of the worst casts i’ve ever seen. with some of the worst costume design i’ve ever seen. idk how you can fuck up that much with an adaptation. surely they had to be trying to be as far off from the source material as possible.
Halloween 3 reference 😂
I was a kid when the prequels came out. They were bad then they are still bad
I do not mind the uncharted movie. I had fun watching it. But I enjoy it more if I pretend it is not an uncharted movie.
Hayden Wasn't To Blame. He Was Given Rough Material And Directions.
I was today years old when I realized the main character of that 70s show is also Eddie Brock 💀💀💀
He is in the video
Topher Grace woulda been a better Flash Thompson LMAO
Joshua Jackson would’ve been the perfect Anakin Skywalker. He has charisma and a much better actor.
