I played the GBA game, and obtained all the dice possible as well as unlock all possible opponents. Also, Dark Magician Girl is a super rare dice that can only be obtained from Yami Yugi. Getting her can be a pain, but I was able to do it. How was I played through all the tournaments with no losses and replayed the last one until Yami Yugi was unlocked. Once unlocked in freeplay, it would take 20 plays against him to get DMG. For me though, I got her after me 5th match in freeplay. It is also possible to get DMG in the tournament as well if you battle Yami Yugi.
the music tho, game had so much potential too they need to make a remake or a new one with more restrictions or monsters, playing a deck of time wizards is insane
It is funny how in the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, game creators tend to get their asses whomped in their own passion project. And, yes, that even includes protagonists (Yuga Ohdo has, like, the crappiest record for any main character).
I actually still have my dungeon dice monsters game but missing a bunch of stuff, still the box is intact, would love to learn and play it if I can find it cheap enough
The prerendered monsters look hideous, but at least they are animated. Where did the beautiful pixel art go? I wish the ygo spin off games were better, as I love me some good spin offs.
In terms of ruleset, the GBA Dungeon Dice Monsters is probably the worst version of the game. DDM went through a few ruleset changes over its lifespan and sadly, just as it released its U.S. rules where both players get two dice rolls per turn and can summon a level higher than what they rolled if they get three-of-a-kind on summon crests (speeding up the gameplay considerably and streamlining the experience), the game died out. The biggest shame with DDM is that arguably the worst way to experience it also probably the most accessible way to play the game today.
I always wondered how dice mknsteres would've evolved would they kust keep using existing monsters or make original ones just for a continuous spin off
I still play the tabletop version of this game with my friends at locals. I didn't feel like paying a fortune for the figures so I created mock figures and printed the cards. This game is a blast if you have the time to sit and play a full game
Honestly, when you get into the swing of it, this game is extremely addictive. I've downloaded the rom several times over the years to revisit it, and it has always held up. Also, the soundtrack slaps. EDIT: Also, while having bad rolls for a game is certainly a thing, I'd say it is no more luck influenced than the shuffle of a deck. After all, bricking in the TCG is a huge problem with most decks.

I played the game way back and i can tell you that the easiest way to win is the use of the dungeon path itself. It was shown in the anime and it was how duke almost had yugi cornered as he had limited space to summon because he built out his path then crossed it across the the board blocking any further advance of yugi. this is true in the game as well if you can build out quickly which is the best option and then extend across the board so they can't go past you then you have basically won as you will be able to keep summoning till you run out of space but have a larger force able to over power any monster even the higher level ones
As a kid, I created a homebrew version of this game based on the manga mechanics. We used a Scrabble board as the dungeon field, which permitted a wide array of ways to 'dimension' our dice. I kept to using non-DM inspired creatures- which the manga did as well. I only got to play a few full games of it with kids that I helped look after sometimes... but those were a few amazingly fun times.
This game had a terrible menu system. I played so much of this game before I realized that there were tier 2 and 3 opponents. I thought it was just a bunch of obscure manga characters until I accidentally managed to move the menu one time.
i remember liking the flying monsters a lot in this game. used to take a couple of turns to set up my board in a way that there is only one way to attack my heart points. and then I'd put the flying monster there to defend it. and the rest of the game was focused on killing anything that could potentially take out my defense. eventually I'd make my way to the enemy with something and finish it. especially with a flying monster when all of their air attackers was gone
I remember owning the physical game for DDM, and bringing it to a YuGiOh event at the bookstore. Everyone wanted to play, but not a single person had items for it so we kept having to split the physical board parts
I dont get this game, like I can see how high the level is of the summons dies, so if I have a level 4 monster i might be rolling forever cuz I have no other die that has level 4 summoning crest
I am considering getting this game, it is being sold at my local retro game shop for 25 bucks. Please let me know if I should go for it. Keep in mind that I also got Destiny Board traveler for a fifth of that price and find it entertaining, so my standards may be on the lower side ;)
This game took a while for it to get good. If this wasn't my only game on a car trip one time as a kid i never would have played it as long as i did.
I remember playing this game was really good too bad it never catch on like duel monsters.

Playing that game is a headache on its own I'd say but the physical version of it is a really sweet collectible but rather pricy.

It makes sense for Dungeon Dice Monsters not to have a tutorial, since Yugi himself played without one... and won
Actually, the levels of monsters go between 1 and 4.
I did get very good at rushing the opposing die master very early on, blocking them off from summoning.

Got into this game as a kid. It had a really good gameplay loop that made you think. Recently repurchased it to give it a playthrough again
