  • The Dawn of Destiny is a real interesting gem in the chronology of drooling monsters video games. Does it hold up? Doubtful! But we can look at it anyway.

Man, this is some great content for a channel with under 1000 subs as I'm writing this. Love to find a diamond in the rough and I'm here for this entire retrospective!

Look here if any of you think you "saw" this video with a title of a "different game" I regret to inform you you are incorrect the title was *always* correct and definitely *not* me using the title and description from the last video #gaslight

Lol I got that Egyptology book when I was a kid! I was very into Ancient Egypt, probably because of Yu-Gi-Oh!, I even went to a King Tut museum exhibition in the early 2000's.

Soooo, they made a Yu-Gi-Oh game for the Xbox...and never even considered using *XBOX LIVE? YOU KNOW, FOR ONLINE BATTLES???*

i still love this game. playing it for years i know how bad the ai cheats and stuff but the card selection is pretty good and the music is a blast from the past. it is too short though, and its a shame they couldnt get any voice acting.

Agreed ! Music and mood from Dawn of destiny is one of the best in the series ! Wish it had a campaign mode or a reward system when you beat opponents online.

The most interesting thing about his game is how hard it is to play today. It doesn't agree with the Xbox 360 (for unknown reasons, it makes THE MACHINE'S FAN STOP) and was never ported to the Xbox One, so you have to play it on an original Xbox. The trouble is, original Xboxes are rare these days and there are no good emulators because everyone just emulates the Xbox 360, which you can't do here because of the fan issue.

I have a copy of this game but my xbox dvd reader is shot. The opponents take a long time to start their turn and end them. Xemu is an original xbox emulator. It runs more games now but im not sure how this game would run. I could probably have the emulator read the game from my dvd drive. I'll have to test it out.

xbox might have had mem cards.... but no one i knew had one because they also had harddrives. we used to just upgrade the harddrive and modchip them for forever blockbuster games.

It's kind of crazy how the only time the Xbox brand truly succeeded in Japan was with the original release of Tales of Vesperia. which arguably is the only time a Japanese developer actually tried with the Xbox. While other jrpgs were formally exclusive to the Xbox 360 Tales of Vesperia was the only one that actually had a large marketing budget. You can't just drop a new IP without any marketing like a Beyoncé album LOL

    • @ZaneJSilver

Honestly, Microsoft's ongoing journey to get a better market share in Japan is a worthy topic of discussion all to itself.

    • @lpfan4491
      @lpfan4491 ปีที่แล้ว

Didn't they actually have some growth recently? It's actually quite insane how half the issue over there is that the japanese market is not as compatible with western styles as the other way around.

the game is very easy once you know what u doing and where to get the cards . u get all the cards u need to beat the game on the first 3 machines on single duel. u get 1900 monsters traps axe of despair its all there as u progress the triple game u can unlock specific characters for cards that are useful . once u beat the game getting the rest of the cards is so easy u unlock the character you defeat at the end on each triple duel . they become available on single duel after beating the game you can press x on single duel and u can play using the deck of any of the characters u have. use the rare hunter deck and boom fast wins

Im looking at the God card statues on 8:27
And it just occured to me their poses are how they look like in the manga. (Obelisk is the most obvious, but the other two you'll see it if you look at them from a different angle)
Nice touch...too bad the game itself is not great.

Agreed, Destiny Board Traveler is bad.
However if you play the game irl and widen the board dimensions, it's actually a ton of fun. I play it with a group of friends, each of us having massive stacks of monsters ready to play. I even added things like field effects and single-use spells and traps a la Arc-V's Action cards. It really is a blast.

When are you going to do 7 trails to glory I'm interested about your take on that game I played it a lot but not sure if I loved it. It was a Yu-Gi-Oh game at a time I needed one and kinda sorta reminded me of sacred cards and Rashef of Destruction, in art style I wanted another sequel, I was disappointed lol

as fun as the original xbox version is, my console always behaves like its on fire so i recently started emulating this game with xemu and upping the render scale and its an entirely new game with beautiful 3d models. worth a replay if you havent done so in 15 years.

I’ve been falling asleep to you Yugioh Playlist for the past week or so. You probably got a ton of views off of me, because I usually wake up an hour later and restart the playlist to fall asleep again.
However, May I make the selfish request and ask that you don’t put stuff like 1:04 into the video? Do it for me!

1:40 I thought that one weird(discontinued) online simulator with the chibi characters was US-only. Depending on Sources, if we count it seperate from Expert 1, technically Eternal Duelist Soul kinda too?(Sources don't seem to agree on that game. Some say it only came out in the US, some say it also had a limited english-only release in europe. Limited, because it appearently never launched in germany and possibly other countries. I have trouble finding more details on it either way.)
13:14 I still can't believe that the game is so unpopular that nobody even bothered making a romhack to change the textfont(which is attrocious and needs to be changed)

The game got a Platinum release in America so apparently it was considered a hit by MS.

I knew nil about the game since I grew up as a Nintendo/Sony kid, interesting retrospective but unfortunate that it seemed like a cash grab. Looking forward to the analysis on the Capsule Monster PS2 game one day in the future. I don't know if some see it as a cash grab or as a relatively great title like I do.

Dawn of Destiny was without a doubt the hardest TCG yugioh game. Which in a way had a special charm to it. Getting good cards in that game felt so good. When you get your first Vorse Raider you were off to the races.
It's also the only yugioh game that had a Action Replay code to turn off the card limit entirely. Not just the ban list but the limit of 3 as well.
It was funny playing a 35 pot of greed deck with 5 pieces of exodia, Or using a bunch of limiter removals on a single machine monster to pump it up to the moon.
Or the silly deck of nothing but magical cylinders
