If I remember correctly, Anthony Hamilton had 3 jobs while managing Lewis, & Esteban basically lived in a caravan so his parents could afford him to do karting. Quite amazing the sacrifices they made.
Lewis says that he always remembers when they were on their way to Mugello or Imola in Italy with his dad in the rented small Fiat and Nico Rosberg with his dad Keke passes them with Lamborghini.
That was early but he did get a job doing IT at a hedge fund
Well depending on your POV he came good. 'Depending ' because he has a number of exotic cars up for sale right now at Siverstone Auctions....
Lewis has done well with himself, used to live in a council flat with his dad, who had three jobs at one stage to fund his karting., and he also used to do work on the kart at night and they had a used Fiat. Now Lewis lives in Monaco, living his dream of F1, and had several expensive cars

not really...... carlos sainz held the record for most wins and he teamed up with McRae in Subaru, until loeb broke it. they r both legendary drivers. one is legendwry in rally and one is legendary in f1.
@@nasif610 Yes really. They're driving the sport that Mick's dad MASTERED, so I would say he has the more legendary father. The Schumacher name is also wayyy more famous than the Sainz.
Bottas' father could be his older brother in that picture for all I know.

Both very difficult personalities. We Finns know him from the WRC, but he mostly struggled with our rally drivers like Tommi Makinen and Juha Kankkunen, both 4 time World Championship. In ten years covers most of Sainz Sr. peak moments of rally driving and he won two times which was left over from Tommi and Juha. Sainz Jr. was in Koiranen GP formula team, the finnish team which have had ones like Kvyat, Bottas and Boschung (the driver to whose rear Anthoine Hubert crashed) . Sainz Jr. happened to be in the team same time with Kvyat and these two strong families were really in the war path. Koiranen brothers told that this was best driver pair what comes to the talent, but the worst what comes to the team spirit.

@Rhys Goodman We Finns have a great respect for Colin McRae and were heart broken when he had his heli accident. We only felt sorry for his co-pilots due to his spectacular full speed crashes. Sainz Sr , maybe your dad has a better opinion of him, he was a good driver but not in the level of Loeb or Ogier to truly challenge Finnish drivers "mafia".

Albon's father is basically non-existent because it's his mother that supported him. And it is obvious kimi became icer since 2010 after his dad passed

Kimi maybe actually was reliefed after 2010. His father was not a kind man to his mother, when he was under influence. Kimi bought them a nice house by the seaside near Helsinki but rarely stayed there for these reasons.

@@bhaktichokshi I am a Finn, living 25 yrs outside Finland, knew Mika Hakkinen , met a lot in the airports, more knew his ex-wife Erja. The circles are small, Finland is a small country. So you know how the things truly are, and not like they are written in the books. No sugar coating.

Now for the mothers. Sophie Verstappen was Belgian champion karting and gave up her promising career for childbirth. She beat Jos Verstappen on karts regularly.
@Roger Rarebit In F1 that was true. Before F1, not so much. He won the Zandvoort Masters of F3 (as did Max) which was at the time the most prestigious F3 title. F3 at the time was just below F1. F2 did not exist.

well it depends on what kind of carpentry you do. I know some extremely successful carpenters. Custom design and construction is no joke mate!
No, vettels father supported him for some races because he didn't have a lot of money for a whole kart season. In the place where he was renting his kart, whom owner is the man who discovered Michael Schumacher, he watched him racing and and he talked about him in red bull hq and then the red bull became his sponsor. Just like Lewis Hamilton. His father supported him until the age of 13 when the McLaren took care of him.

Carlos and Guenther used to be part of the Jolly Club rally team in 1993 where Guenther was the head of reconnaissance before he later takes a role of technical manager while Carlos was the team's driver.

Checo's father was there in the garage for his son's last race of 2020...saw him heartbroken while checo's engine broke. Good for checo, he's in redbull now.

Norbert Vettel actually used to be an amateur racing driver doing hillclimbs here in Germany. He sold his racecar to support Seb.
He down played Jan Magnussen in my opinion. Jan is incredibly successful in sportscar racing. For like 20 years he always one, if not the best driver on the grid in sportscars. 4 times le mans winner, 2x GTLM class champion, and has to be up there for most class wins in worldwide sportscar series.
It makes me happy to know that Kimi’s father at least got to see Kimi at the top of the world!
Such a shame that Herve hasn’t been able to see Charles take it to Lewis, Valtteri, Max and Seb!

@@VarjoPira Well, there is not so many Finns that we don't know each other through friends or friend's friends. I am the same age as Mika Hakkinen and we did meet a lot at the airports then and later, I have not lived in Finland for 25 yrs. What Kimi says in his book is laughable. McLaren knew and Ferrari knew what could be the potential negative effect. He doing extreme sports like motocross while under influence.

Jos Verstappen made Max into the racer is his now. After Jos ended his own career in 2003, he devoted his live to coach Max to become a F1 driver. Jos Verstappen was also the only Dutch F1 driver that managed to end up on the podium in his first year. That was until Max won in 2016.

Hi, actually Sergio's father was very active in the paddock until sometime last year. He was also involved in racing being the agent of Adrian Fernandez former Indycar series in the 90's

Yes, now they are. But many of them definitely wasn't at the start of their sons careers.
The Two Finns Had Humble Upbringings (Valtteri Was Brought Up In a City Known as the Chicago Of Finland because of its high crime rate) Esteban had an extremely Poor Upbringing and Actually got Karts Off Pierre’s Family And Lewis Had a Poorer Upbringing too. I think Sebastian Was Kind Of Okay And the Same With Charles, I’m Honestly Not Sure About Romain And Checo. But yeah for the most part it’s rich kids, but that’s to be expected. This is a rich man sport
