- I’m sure you’ve seen the F1 driver’s private jets, but do you know whether they own them or not? In this video I’ll explain to you all the F1 private jet sponsors and how they work. Plus I'll also show you Max Verstappen's private jet that he purchased from billionaire Richard Branson. If you also want to know about Lewis Hamilton's private jet that he previously owned then make sure to watch the entire video

I do love to take the offer, but operators in Middle East won't allow even reaching to the website, the website is blocked 😢
Surfshark makes it very difficult to stop auto renewal of the subscription. When you subscribe it sets you as auto renewal by default, you are not asked. Buyer beware.
@@bjs7442 like many other companies; at best it’s sharp practice at worse outright dishonest. If you can, pay for all these things with a card that will expire within a year then you don’t have to search through the small print to cancel the auto renewal.
“Down to Fly”😂
What else could it be?
Down to F1 😂
@@Tonyshandle Yeah it stands for Down To F*ck😅
Here is a fun one..
Mic Doohan.. M9to GP Legend..Realized Moto GP riders, and F1 drivers where getting on private jet. So he created a company supplying them.. the planes aren't owned by the rider's or drivers. They are leased from Mick..
Max did fly on his Falcon to Melbourne this year.
Yes! I think he made 2 stops along the way to fuel up.
@@Bastiaan_net yea...and how quick where those? So maybe Leclerc can finally be faster at..something. ;P
Went to Monaco last year, yuki tsunoda was on an easy jet flight back to Gatwick. No idea why he was on that flight but was nice enough to get a photo
Seems like he's doing more for the planet and the climate activist Hamilton.
@@Robert-cu9bm u know everything about F1 drivers huh
@@keonxd8918
I know Hamilton is a hypocrite.
@@Robert-cu9bm Hamilton doesn't own a jet anymore. He sold it. It's public record. Kym said only Verstappen among the drivers has a jet.
@@Robert-cu9bm you spoken to him personally? How do you know he's a hypocrite? People calling others a hypocrite is likely a hypocrite as well
I sat next to Max's father Jos in 1995 after the Brazilian GP on a flight from Sao Paulo to Rio. He signed my airline ticket.
Yeah sure. What ever you say bro
Nice cameo for MOH. I am a Licensed Aircraft Mechanic and spent 34 at Cessna working on several different models of Citations. It was a love hate relationship but I made a pretty good living at it.
Max did fly to Australia in his Jet
Great video Kym! I am a pilot and used to fly private jets for the Indycar series drivers and I found this video very informative and have seen many of these jets before!
Kym is fishing for a private jet sponsor deal 🎣😄
Great video Kym, stoked to see the aviation crossover!
At 7:42 you mention that the Global 6000 is used for commercial flights, but that would be the CRJ series which is based on the Challenger 604. The Global Express type certification as far as I know is only used in private operations.
Global Express is just one of the different BD700 aircraft. A global 5000 or 6000 are not global expresses.
@@dingodango1 they all use the Global Express type certification up until the Global 7500 👍
@Christian Haesemeyer theu have the same certificate but they are very different aircraft. If I owned a 6500 and you called it a Global Express I wouldn't let you ride on it.
I recall seeing a photo or two of Charles and Alex on a commercial flight on their way to testing. They were in economy. I think I saw one with Lewis after he sold his jet. I'm guessing Sebastian Vettel must be the German driver who booked economy late. It's nice to see the drivers be quite frugal from time to time. Flights are expensive!
Hmmm... maybe Seb. My first thought was Mick Schumacher.
Business class in europe is economy with empty middle seat
@@atibrewal1 Yeah but where is testing held these days? Not Barcelona. 🙃 I've flown around Europe.
@@electricurinal My first thought was Nico Hulkenberg for a stand-in act.
@@electricurinal Schumacher owned his own jet and it was a big one, like something an airline would have
Max’s jet is also managed by exxaero and also maintains the plane and delivers the pilot and crew
Wut :O no Honda? f him! :P
Love the travel videos, Kym! Keep them coming please!
Hey Kym, love your videos. The vista jet shown with Carlos and Charles looks to be a Bombardier global express 7500, worth 3 or 4 times the 20 million mentionned
Yeah agreed. Definitely not a Challenger 350. 350 is tiny comparatively. Hard to tell which Global model it is.
I’d also be really surprised if any airlines used a Global 6000
My guess will be around $60 - 70m
@@callumwood1468well they can’t because they aren’t certified for Part 121 ops.
Ow yippy what a Kiddiebikes compared to a 747.
I used to work for Malaysia Airlines, and I remember back in 2013 Felipe Massa and the Williams team flying with us.
We delayed them on the flight back from Kuala Lumpur to London after the race due to technical issues!
Very nice video mate!
Already looking forward to next summer F1 traffic here in Belgium and Netherlands.
I heard Seb cycled between countries and often beat the team there.
Hey Kym, Not sure whether you knew or not but Valtteri and Lewis both usually fly with Toto. and Toto owns at least 2 jets.
I remember last year Merc’s social media manager filmed Lewis on Toto’s jet and posted it to their socials. They got taken down and he lost his job not long after…
Lewis sold bis jet to Mercedes and he can use 😂
@taylo2079 If you're talking about Paul Ripke, that was a joke. Paul is one of Toto's best friends and most of his content is him joking.
Max is using his plane almost all the time, you can follow the flight tracker
Most interesting F1 channel on TH-cam! Thanks Kym.
Looking forward to your next video Kym - "how I was nearly run over by the Alpine" 😀
Knew nothing of it I’m afraid
@@KymIllman Sorry Kym I thought I saw you (or your hat) in the group.
How could you not mention that Romain Grossjean flys himself now 😃 That would have been a fun bonus
No need, you just mentioned it.
Say heh cewl. "wow this guy is incredible"
You had to put Charles and his ex’s picture in there😂 Savage. 2:51
aaaah so Charles lost his Bella? No wonder he can't get used to "the new woman" the italians are forcing him to bond with. oei yeah the devil really sh..s on one pile and its favourite reallly is that red team. :P
You have to respect Seb in this as he tried to avoid private planes.
Max actually took his jet to Australia 👀
great vid, i dont know for sure but i tought max flew to australia with his jet this year, i remember a article about it. he had to do 2 stops in between or so, i tought that was for australia but i can be wrong and confuse it with something else. keep up the great work
You are 100% correct! First stop at Dubai, second at Kuala Lumpur and vice versa.
Yeah you can pretty much go to any country in the world with a small plane you just need to fly down to refuel
I’m a private jet pilot and I’m impressed and appreciate the accuracy of your information!!
Good to know Jimmy.
Thanx for respecting flat surfaces mr pilot. ye need those to land save and shurely not to crash onto. Ya'lls are the best whehe.
I'm always surprised by how few seats small jets have.
Why would you want a midget version of Ryanair.
You want big seats
Low density seating is a big part of the appeal.
It is usually only a CEO or CFO...very occasionally, his wife...and maybe a personal assistant onboard at any given time.
It is the way to fly though.
You are so refreshed at the end of the flight.
It is like flying in the most luxurious living area.
duh is crawlingspace for your stripperladies a joke then to you? XD
I figured it would be Stroll as his Fadder is LOOOOOOADED🤣
nice to see an old Messages on Hold pointy finger getting some air time.
Great video! I love learning about the private jets etc!
nice vid once again...
but can't wait for Kym's take regarding the Ocon/Pitstop incident...
Coming soon
I believe Max had his jet flown to Melbourne.
Liked it before I even watched it!! I always stalk the drivers on the Thursday morning of a race weekend. And the team CEO’S etc.
FYI Kym, Farnborough has an airport. But props on saying it correctly, even Microsoft TTS on british can't do that.
Even more a joke when they claim F1 is carbon neutral. Yeah right.
So funny to see my colleagues and myself in your video. We work at Liège airport
We’ll spotted
big fan of you! noticed one mistake @.15 seconds in. Michael is not a F1 Driver but a former F1 driver lol
Nice video!
Lance Stroll has his own jet. Tail Number N19LS Challenger 605
You mean his dad has his own jet 😂
@@elisabeth8739lmao stop being jealous 😂
I learnt quite a lot about private jets on this vid. I love the way the video's done on the whole. Brief, filled with interesting content, true to subject, well edited, and Kym's voice is not a drag, at all.
Made a new subscriber out of me!!
In 2019 I met Lando Norris on my EasyJet flight from London to Milan, he was going to the Monza Grand Prix. EasyJet obviously doesn’t have business or first class, so he was sat next to us 😂 no one even recognised him because even people who follow f1 wouldn’t have thought they’d see him there. But I did, I got a picture with him and had a lovely chat 😂
thats funny. Thats like meeting frodo on a bus. i do worry a lill bout Lando, kid beeing in such a monsterous environment... Yet mclaren ah will be a nest solid enough i'd reckon. For all we know the carefocus at such 'a team' might be greater than a nation's youthcare.
Kym, you missed that Lance had his own jet until a few months ago. It was a Bombardier Challenger 600 registered N18LS. It followed the F1 calendar except for some of the flyaway races.
His dad is a Billionaire. The only reason Lance is driving...
Great video as always!! 👌
Kym I spotted you standing behind the SKY sports commentators after the Sprint race - nice shorts and hat !!
I flew them. First on the Dubai based A380 operator you see a few times in this video, but last year flying them privately.
Michael Schumacher used to own a pretty awesome private jet. If I had the $ I would get a Piaggo Avanti - turboprops, but the coolest looking private plane.
I think you’re missing the fact that Lance Stroll owns a challenger 600 - N18LS
With all the BS and over inflated price quotes floating around about private jets it's nice to see someone put out a video which is basically accurate and not exaggerated.
Surprised Kim didn't talk about the rumour that Max has a sim on his private jet
it was a false rumor
@@blazingyodler Started by Helmut Marko lol
Watched this video when it was first released and didn't get why "Messages On Hold" was highlighted. Popped up on TH-cam again so rewatched it and this time I picked it straight away.
Good to know. Cheers.
I appreciate the content that bridges my interests in both F1 and aviation!
I own an Embraer EMB120 Brasilia 1990 which I bought for €450.000. So you don’t need millions to own a private plane.(it’s a Dual Turboprop)
You brought a turbo prop for half a million. Unless you had millions in net worth you wouldn't have got the financing for half a million 🤣
@@joshuamoore5689 if you have to finance it. It will always cost you more, then buying it directly. So I don’t do financing
hey @KymIllman - been enjoying your vids. 🎉 Why is there a baby grand in the background? Do you play?
Bottas swaggy asF now, gotta think that time with Sweet Lew
payed dividend for his swag, miss seeing Bottas in the Silver Arrow
but cool to see him be the lead driver and run his own empire now
Yeh its Awesome to know that Bruce Dickinson sometimes is much faster than Max and Valentino combined. whehehe. Up the Irons!
Those flying boxes are only called "private" because out of shame they dont race with them. :P
True that!
Lance Stroll also uses his own jet, he can chose from 2 jets owned by the Stroll family, a Challenger 604 and a Global 6000.
hehe funny with a sirname of a turtle.
Some rich kids get a pony for their birthday, others receive a jet I guess.
You don't have to be an F1 driver to fly in a private jet, go work for a telecoms company. Have done many flights around KSA and the Caribbean visiting telecoms installations.
Fernando flew from COTA to Miami last year in coach. My friend sat next to him. 😂
6:45 How does the logistics of ‘hitching-a-ride’ work? Like Alex when he travels with Max, is it planned long before? What if the seats are full or he accidentally cause a crash and piss Max off, will Williams purchase a commercial ticket for him? This video generates so many questions.
Thank you , that was pretty insightful.
Max actully flies in his jet to all races including Australia.
Max used his plane to come to Melbourne and is now in Miami with his plane.
That's a good one kym nice information on private flying 😅 Gowra
Thanks for the video. As a planespotter and avgeek sometimes i wonder what jet they fly with, other than Ferrari with VistaJet and Max with his Falcon
Most of them use charter brokers and charter. Most charter operators in europe would have had F1 drivers onboard at some point
Seb was on that economy flight right?
I think I saw a RB video of Vettel negotiating with Horner for re-imbursement for some water and peanuts he bought at the airport.
Max’s Jet was spotted here in Maldives earlier this year
He wasn’t there at the time, Max was in Monaco, his Father used the Jet…
No, Max and his plane flying to every race Kym. Just with two stops in Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur for the race in Melbourne.
Kym, I think you're trying to say Bomb-bar-d-yah, lol.
How does the mechanics and other f1 people travel along the races?
Thanks for answers
Meanwhile Button and the Brawn GP team flying EasyJet on their way to both championships 😅
There are a lot of inaccuracy in this video especially when it comes down to charter pricing. You ain't getting a flight from London to Nice for 6000 euros unless it's an empty leg. 6000 euros would get you from London to Paris.

Working on it now.
@@KymIllman 👍❤️
Ironic I saw this now when I'm supposed to be working instead I'm making coffee to see me through to lunch 😂
A plane that seats four people? 6 people? Hardly seems worth it.
Hamilton’s plane had his initials in the registration tail. It’s his full name.
Private jet owners only contribute two percent of the revenue needed to maintain FAA services.
When I saw the Pic of Charles LeClerc and Charlotte Sine at 3:51, I nearly had an emotional breakdown. I've had many girlfriends but never anyone like her. And now, we're told, they are no longer together. Tears are temporary.
OOps, 2:51, not 3:51
"anyone like her." wow. asif you had a go for awhile with her? Tell us more about how she was then. . . Grown up dudes with these silly carebear sensations. 'kin el XD

Heheh I'm pretty sure that DTF on Max's plane doesn't stand for Down To Fly😜
He says otherwise
PH is also a very popular website 😂
Here is a fun one..
Mic Doohan.. M9to GP Legend..Realized Moto GP riders, and F1 drivers where getting on private jet. So he created a company supplying them.. the planes aren't owned by the rider's or drivers. They are leased from Mick..
Hilarious pronunciation of Bombardier.
Latifi at Williams? 😅 what happened to Logan Sargeant!?
Shocked f1 doesn’t have its own fleet. 😂
It does, a fleet of small 5 seat private aircraft for the climate activists.
Hello, where is the link for the VPN?
angela back in Lewis garage @ Baku?
Your numbers are miles off, when someone usually charters a jet they often need to pay for it to fly back to its base.
Max verstappen radio DTF Down To Fly
06:58..................( Sigh )..................." Good old Frank...............exactly as we remember him "................😆
Your info on max and his plane is not correct. The range is shorter and he does take it every where. They just have a fuel stop.
F1 does all it can do be environmentally conscious from what I see. They never put gas in the cars and they ship a lot of their race set ups via sea.
Did Vettel fly private with Ferrari when he was with them or did he still fly commercial within Europe?
Dont think you are here yet with the ject economics.....
The samller airports will most likely be nearer your destination which might be a time saver for busy business people and have lower landing fees for charters. Many of the international airports dont accept smaller biz jets dring high deand times..
So for mclaren, charter a super king air from Fairoaks or farnborough..to the french circuit outside maselles which has an airstripe owned by Bernie. Or try a PC 12 from Blackbush to the french circuit which is about 2 hours...The flexibility of landing at regional or smaller airports nearer your desingation in Europe is the advantage here, International flights the advantage is small if at all.
The irony of F1 pushing out sustainability while their drivers are flying around the world with gas guzzling jets 😂
Cos it's all BS
Like getting rid of the Grid girls was for their benefit, not the benefit of the sponsorship deals with Arab countries that don't like skimpy women.
It’s called virtue signalling, we pheasants have to fly around commercial and drive shitty hybrid electric cars that have to conform to ever stricter emissions standards while the ones pushing the message of climate change fly around private and drive around in their million dollar sports cars 😽. I would respect F1 a lot more if they just came out and said yes we are the most wasteful sport in the world and we don’t give a shit about it.
Do you expect them to walk to the races?
With Biofuels starting to take hold, I think you will find that Flying will be very Carbon Friendly in the Future…
With how much these teams fly the personnel from race to race. It does surprise me that the teams charter/fly commercial and don't just buy the planes they need for the team. If an NFL team can justify the cost of two for 10 road games a year. Then you would think an f1 team could justify it for 23+ races a year.
I think you are right, but part of their thinking could be the team’s carbon footprint. Buying suggests you are not committed to the cause while you can say chartering is an occasional cheat day.
Also, the range is also awkward. For a plane that can fly to all locations, it’ll be an expensive and big (by private jet standard) jet, but for most parts of the calendar, they only need to fly within continental Europe, which flying is faster but probably not fast enough to warrant the cost.
With additional races in US, maybe private jet would make more sense in the future.
It’s not that easy to maintain a jet that’s why. Maintenance, spare parts, pilots, flight attendants, fuel and parking is an issue I’m sure no F1 team wants to deal with.
@@SkodaYetiFan for all of that you would contract with (insert airline) they would handle most of the logistics without taking their own aircraft out of service which is why many airlines don't like charters. they can easily spare crew but they prefer to not loose aircraft for charter services. this is what some professional sports teams in the US do.
@@alanngli apart from Silverstone for the majority of the grid I would venture to say they are flying the team from base to race or race to race and back. so owning one or two aircraft. the New England Patriots in 2017 bought two 767's for 10 million each, they only use one per road game, so I am sure the teams could be able to get it done and they could also most likely write the purchase off in their taxes as they are depreciating assets. Also with well over half the races outside of Europe the teams would probably save money in air fare and cargo costs as they could bring some more stuff with them. they could also charter them out to other sporting teams or groups to recoup some of the purchase costs.
Do the private jets have WiFi so the drivers can tweet about saving the planet from climate change?.
