I miss when f1 wasn’t that popular. You could get a grandstand turn 1 seat at Monaco (this was 2017)for the race for €150. And on the Friday (off day) you could go into the pit lane. Met kimi, Lewis, etc.
Double edged sword. There's a good chance we'd have just 7 teams competing right now if F1 didn't become as popular. I doubt Force India, Williams, and Haas would've survived.
As an American, It's cheaper for me to go over seas to Austria than to even drive 8 hours to Miami, plus I can turn it in to Vaca over there while I don't care for Miami/Las Veges (not a gambler). Been to Austria one time and absolutely loved it
I agree, I'm 3 hours out from Austin, have plenty of friends that live there so could easily get free room/board, but it's cheaper to fly out of the country for the tickets they had left then to attempt to go there, Miami, or forget about Vegas.
@@Banyo__ Dude yeah, I'm in NC and nothing in the US is affordable, maybe in a couple years the prices will drop. In the mean time I'll just look into going to Indy races (can go to the indy 500 for $50 per ticket)

Even father from fans !
The pricing differences of F1 versus other motorsports is astonishing to me. My Indy 500 grandstand ticket is $100, and any fan can gain paddock access to IndyCar for around $50, depending on the circuit. Last year at Belle Isle/Detroit, the paddock was completely open for any fan to access both IndyCar & IMSA, and stand less than a meter from the cars
Yeah but F1's time is now. Nascar tickets in 2005 were probably pretty high for the time because that was peak Nascar. I remember Vancouver Indy tickets in the 90's. They were more than $100 US. That was peak CART. Indycar is slowly building itself back up. One day it will be a hot ticket again.
There are very few people that I say I love in F1, and you are definitely one of them. Honestly I have been watching F1 for years and I've never had the plessure of knowing so much about the inside stuff. You are a blessing to fans like us.
My wife brought me to Silverstone 2022 GP, Champions club with F1 experience 3 day, absolutely insane weekend, celebrity chef catering, all the champagne and beer you could drink, F1 personalities come each day for a talk, track tour on Saturday and paddock tour on the Sunday just before the start of the race, got pictures with a load of drivers as they were making there way back from the pre race drivers parade, it was expensive but worth every penny, would do it again
@@Nutty... I got as gift 2 days paddock club last year for Austrian GP and it was around 5000 euro and it was a lifelong experience, even got photo with Verstappen and loads of other drivers😁
Thanks Kym! Good video, I can confirm that “general admission” or “campus” passes let you go to a wide variety of spots in Austin and Miami. Most don’t have seats, you have to bring a blanket and/or chair, and don’t include food or drinks. I can also tell you that both general admission and grandstand tickets in Vegas include food and beverage- BUT both are restricted access to a “zone” that you have access to, and a seat (if you buy grandstand). You cannot gain access to another zone. In Austin and Miami a grandstand ticket gets you access to your grandstand AND to any GA or Campus area around the entire track.
Thanks Kym. I really enjoy your videos. As I'm a keen photographer and F1 fan, and like many others cannot gain press access to these races, I would be keen to see a video on the best tracks and locations for taking photos. Cheers.
The $32,000 garage package feels like the worst experience of the lot. You get all the noise of the track and pit lane without seeing any of the actual racing, except through a TV. Obviously not everyone who goes to a Grand Prix goes for the racing, and I guess having those people in a garage is better than having them take up space in areas that actually have a view of the race, but to me it's just another example of "so extravagant that it defeats the purpose."
It became very expensive to the point that it is mostly not worth it. Sport popularity sky rocketed last 5 years. I don't know if it is Netflix series or the new owners' plan just worked, but I have never felt the sport growing so much ever. I miss the days that tickets were affordable, but at the same time popularity is good for the sport.
I went to my first gp in barcelona from thursday to sunday g admission with an incredible view and unforgattable memories (even got to see the podium at the end with a bit of running xD) it cost me only 600$ for everything (from paris)

I like the fact that F1 is popular and has a huge fan base, but the costs are getting insane day by day. I paid 100 Euros for a General entry on a FRIDAY for the AustrianGP(the cheapest one I could find), the prices of DucthGP tickets are unfathomable. It is increasingly becoming a rich people's sport. It has always been to get into the sport, but I don't think there have been such huge costs for watching the races or following the sport.
I have been watching relatively affordable tickets for Austrian GP weekend since November (pretty late i know) but no luck. Tickets are either sold out ( i presume orange army bought most of them, and left not may of them rest of us f1 fans from this region( p.s i am not from Austria but this is my closest f1 gp track and it on my bucket list)) or too expensive for my taste. I will try my luck this year when tickets for 2024 comes out.
AWESOME video Kym - haven't seen anything like it before. Really cool. Suggestion for a video - same concept - options at different price points while you're at a race. Like - here's the best thing to do for $100, $1000, $10,000 if you're already at the Austin race
1976 took train from Cannes. Saw vintage cars arrive on freight wagons. Then climbed the "Pelouses roche" for qualifying. Petersen in 6-wheel Tyrrell. Great view of cars and city. Next F1 was qualifying at Donington - Andretti in Lotus. What a sound!! Now I stick to TV as crowds to much.
Ive always wanted to go to a F1 race and make great money but anything more than $1000 for a ticket to see a car fly by in less than one second is absurd. On tv I get to watch ALL the action.
My dream is to become an F1 photographer like you. Doing shoots at my local gokart track now, trying to get to know the parents of young drivers who want good photos for sponsors, ect. Saving up to buy a sony 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 now. Will get there one day
I went to the 2000 USGP @ Indy. $100 ticket for all 3 days. (2nd row from the top across from the McLaren pits.) It's not $200 now. It's $500 or more for 3 days at Austin. At Montreal in 1983, it was $90 for a 3 day PHOTO pass. Lol. I don't think I'll be at another F1 race any time soon. I forget what the price was at Zandvoort in 1983, but it was comparable to IMSA GTP at Lime Rock both with Paddock Pass.

i paid €550 in 2022 for tickets to have (normal) acces all 3 days at Zandvoort (bought them over from SIL that had recently given birth). was sitting at the beginning of the main straight across pit entry/ next acces point for the track for the other classes. you could walk up to the PSC cars that were lined up there with only a simple crowd control barrier between you and the cars/drivers. they would chat/take pictures and some kids even had the chance to sit in a car. was a great first time race experience and 3 days of fun with my brother (despite having a good sunburn from day 1, we forgot our sunscreen)
Japan Suzuka and Fuji I remember for the rain ...... but I did find an article that said The super-soaked races were Fuji 1976, Suzuka 1994, Fuji 2007, and Suzuka 2014. The cross over is a unique feature.
when I visited spa I got the cheapest ticket, whilst it might be a lot of walking. it was amazing because you could sit anywhere you like, just bring your own chair. i chose to sit at pouhon and was able to get some really nice photo's. also, there are no trollys alowed so dont make that mistake.

F1 was always for the rich, but with how much money the internet has put in the hands of who otherwise would be normal people, the prices suite the demand. Watching F1 live would forever be an impossible dream for a lot of us who live outside europe.
As an American it is be cheaper to go to Canada or Mexico than any of the three US races. Prices at COTA have doubled. T15 2022 750 dollars. 2023 1500 for 3 days.
I went to the hungarian GP with the entry level f1 experiences package after finding out that it was going to be cheaper than any of the US gps and about equal to the canadian gp. Not cheap to be an american F1 fan.
Austria General Admission is also a pretty sweet deal. I went there last year pretty last minute for 150€ and it was amazing. The area is between turn 3 and 4 and since it's on the hill you have a pretty nice view into turn 1-4 and 6-7. You'll have to turn up early tho to get good spots
Thanks Kym, but I think you missed Saudi Arabian GP for being the cheapest. I got 3 day General Admission just for 20 euros and 3-day Grandstand ticket for 50 euros. (though it wasn't the official price, I got it from another website that was selling the ticket at 70% discount 3-4 days before the event.)
I remember back in 2011 or 2012, when I was still living in Shanghai, there was free access to the gp circuit on free practice and qualifying days for any race that happened there (motogp, touring cars, f1, etc).
I would never ever spend any money visiting a race...i see more on tv...besides cheapest on spa was bout half a month earnings....this is absolutely discusting these prices over 1200€ for a weekend
Going to the Vegas Grand Prix. Actually paid $425 per ticket. F1 offered an extra discount 1 or 2 weekends after the presale started. Was extremely extremely lucky.
how about some insider tips for the fans who don't have the money to pay all these entry tickets ..... I've seen quite some italian youngsters climb over the wall that surrounds the Parco di Monza, and when you're in the queue to get into the gates at Montmelo, you notice that wall isn't so high neither .... in Monaco you have a beautifull overall view from at the pedestrian area opposite the building at no. 9 boulevard du Jardin Exotique .... in Montreal when it's again Sold Out ? Just go to the Casino, right in the middle of all the action.
In Bahrain there are also invite only tickets for the tower where all the royals and celebrity guests of the Al Khalifa family are. It is amazing in there!
Awesome. We are coming to Austrian GP this year. Will be my first race. Coming from South africa. We booked F1 experiences tickets. Very excited. Hope to meet you at the track.
What would have been even more awesome for this video is if you were able to shoot pics from the grandstand seat perspective on a practice day or thursdays. Maybe for part 2 of this video
I was at Bahrain, and I posted a few videos I shot from around the track and my seat at turn one grandstand on my channel, if you want to see what it looks like from fan perspective.
With $2000 I can go away to remote safari locations in five star resorts for 3 weekends and watch the F1 from the ultimate seclusion and luxury. I get to see everything that goes on the track with the commentary.
I want to know where you get the $100 ticket. The cheapest ones I found at the closest track to me is Montreal and the general admission tickets are $250
F1= A “sport” by the rich for the rich. The average working person is priced out. General admission tickets in Canada are only worth it if you don’t have to travel far and you have a way of watching the race online. 🙁
I feel like people forget about thier local tracks. Mine is Brands Hatch UK. Some amazing racing there and top series too. Almost all tickets are under $50 for the weekend
Kym love the way you cover F1 great content,On the off chance you read the comments is there a ticket that includes a hot lap with one of the drivers,I’ve seen that they do that at some races and wondered if you knew any details,Thank You
Got spoiled in the early 80s. Foca photographers pass. Montreal 3 years. Canon William's and I sold loads of canon and nikon and hasselblad. Swc in the pits made great pics.
Have been going to races for 20 years, and remember at Nurburgring 2003, we paid 240 Euros for the weekend at a Silver T- 13 grandstand, in 2012 Gold 3 at Spa cost 400 euros for the weekend, & last year at Monza sitting in Parabolica was 500+ Just insane how high the prices have become! If you buy EARLY Birds, you can get lucky & get tickets for fair prices, but that backside to that is that you need to order the tickets 7-9 months in advance, which is imposible for a lot of pepole! Pre COVID, you could easily get good tickets 2-3 months in advance of not later. Kym may i ask a question, at which GP is it easiest to get accsess to the paddock?? it used to be Budapest if i am not mistaken. Has this changed since the boom started in 20-21?, & if so what is the cheapest ticket/ Paddock Club to get the possibility? :)
Wynn Las Vegas has a $1 million dollar package for six total people over the weekend. Includes 6000 sq ft room. Multiple hotels on the strip have packages starting at $35k and up… Said for the real fans wanting to go for actually watching the race...
Would you be able to email kym@kymillman.com a picture of the ticket pls? If you can’t blackout the barcode and row or seat, I can do that for you. I’d like to use it in one of my videos as example.

The problem here is USA. And its not only F1. Ticket re sellers. I dont understand why like ticketmaster allows literaly ticket resellers to buy and then resell for so much more. You would think that they can sell them for more money them self and not allow resale. But what pisses me off its that on their own website they list them as resale ticket like wtf. Like i understand if they bought the ticket and they try selling it on craiglist or marketplace, something like that. But the fact that ticketmaster just allows people to buy and repost them for triple the price really just pisses me off. Idk how it works for F1 but its crazy, must be the same, because i know my friend paid like 800 for the best spot and it was a 3 day pass.

I remember back in 2011 or 2012, when I was still living in Shanghai, there was free access to the gp circuit on free practice and qualifying days for any race that happened there (motogp, touring cars, f1, etc).
Any info on the las vegas grand prix coming up?
I would never ever spend any money visiting a race...i see more on tv...besides cheapest on spa was bout half a month earnings....this is absolutely discusting these prices over 1200€ for a weekend
Going to the Vegas Grand Prix. Actually paid $425 per ticket. F1 offered an extra discount 1 or 2 weekends after the presale started. Was extremely extremely lucky.
This is the General Admission Ticket
Hey that background music during the surfshark advert, it's the same as my favourite video from Hagerty
how about some insider tips for the fans who don't have the money to pay all these entry tickets .....
Hope to meet you at the track.
im surprised the 'hopping stand' thing isnt common everywhere. remember doing this in melbourne in like....2007
Your content and genuinely unique insights are absolutely awesome Kym. Keep up the good work and thank you! 😁
What would have been even more awesome for this video is if you were able to shoot pics from the grandstand seat perspective on a practice day or thursdays. Maybe for part 2 of this video
It’s unfortunate that we have so little time that that would be impossible
I was at Bahrain, and I posted a few videos I shot from around the track and my seat at turn one grandstand on my channel, if you want to see what it looks like from fan perspective.
With $2000 I can go away to remote safari locations in five star resorts for 3 weekends and watch the F1 from the ultimate seclusion and luxury. I get to see everything that goes on the track with the commentary.
I think I paid $15 for a general admission ticket to the 1973 US Grand Prix.
For some of those tickets you can buy a quite decent mid sized car in my country. (yes, even with heavily inflated prices these day's)
30k is not a midsized car my man 🤣
Enjoyed the video kym
I want to know where you get the $100 ticket. The cheapest ones I found at the closest track to me is Montreal and the general admission tickets are $250
As a f1 fan i doubt will ever watch a race live. It's for a really different range of people.
Best way to get to the paddock in the dutch gp is work a few weeks prior at some club and work when f1 is, then after you can go in the paddock
Well I would spend whatever attending the Australian F1 Grand Prix but it’s sold out the second year running & I’m still super pissed off about that.
Could you please do a part two for the 2024 season 🙏🙏 I’m planning on going for the Chinese grand prix
Imola is quite cheap. This year general admission for the whole weekend in 90 euros.
pitlane passes are so worth it. i did it in silverstone, met albon and the man kym himself on the grid !
F1= A “sport” by the rich for the rich. The average working person is priced out. General admission tickets in Canada are only worth it if you don’t have to travel far and you have a way of watching the race online. 🙁
Got mine for Miami can’t wait
Off to Austria in GA, £90 & Silverstone in Stowe, £350 - cannot wait
Love these vids Kym
That reselling crap shouldn't be legal
Was looking at silverstone this year too expensive can go on holiday for that price
Great Video!
I feel like people forget about thier local tracks. Mine is Brands Hatch UK. Some amazing racing there and top series too. Almost all tickets are under $50 for the weekend
Kym love the way you cover F1 great content,On the off chance you read the comments is there a ticket that includes a hot lap with one of the drivers,I’ve seen that they do that at some races and wondered if you knew any details,Thank You
It’s a pirelli thing. Not sure if they sell them or give them away.
@@KymIllman Ok Thank You…
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is insane, I was looking forward to getting a room at the cosmopolitan but 3 nights in a room with a balcony is $28,000!
Got spoiled in the early 80s. Foca photographers pass. Montreal 3 years. Canon William's and I sold loads of canon and nikon and hasselblad.
Swc in the pits made great pics.
Great content, thanks!
My pleasure!
is there a list of best track locations for general public photographers.
This is random but, I like the room you're recording in. Very aesthetic lol
best I can do is 50
F1 TV Pro @ $79.99/year fits my busy schedule much better 🤙
Wow it was 50 just 2 years ago 😂
40%+ subscription rate is insanely good my dude.
At Monza 2022 I got a general admission ticket and managed to get into grandstands on the main strait
im possibly going to the miami gp with vip paddock passes!
30,000 that's expensive, but that would be an amazing experience
When buying silver stone tickets this year the prices where going up in real-time whilst people where in the queue. Absolute scandal
Have been going to races for 20 years, and remember at Nurburgring 2003, we paid 240 Euros for the weekend at a Silver T- 13 grandstand, in 2012 Gold 3 at
Spa cost 400 euros for the weekend, & last year at Monza sitting in Parabolica was 500+
Just insane how high the prices have become!
so looks like spa is the best deal. probably is sold out immediately though.
Wynn Las Vegas has a $1 million dollar package for six total people over the weekend. Includes 6000 sq ft room.
Multiple hotels on the strip have packages starting at $35k and up… Said for the real fans wanting to go for actually watching the race...
And that doesn’t include anything at the track
Got a ticket for the Las Vegas it does say drinks and food are included
Would you be able to email kym@kymillman.com a picture of the ticket pls? If you can’t blackout the barcode and row or seat, I can do that for you. I’d like to use it in one of my videos as example.
If only Sepang circuit still in calendar
I was in Austin last year and had the F1 experience legend package. It was awesome and worth it
I’m doing legend this year in Austin! Any tips for being in the paddock for a full day haha. How long do they actually give you?
@@andrewab1209 we had a full day. You get a pass and can go in and out as you please. You are right above the garages and can watch practice, quali and the race and you can look down from the balcony into the paddock at any time. Food and drink were plentiful. We had a parking pass as well and had shuttle service. It’s awesome. I’m sure you’ll enjoy
@@Glutenanddairyfreelife awesome! Thanks for the reply. How was the procedure for going to the podium on Sunday after the race? Did you guys leave your seats early to line up for the podium ceremony?
@@andrewab1209 if you’re paddock day is Sunday you go ‚down‘ to the fence 10 minutes before the race is over. They’ll show you and then walk to the podium. Prepare for a lot of walking during your time there. If you’re paddock day is Friday or Saturday then you can’t go unless you get a pass from somebody who can’t make it or so. Best of luck. It’ll be an amazing weekend
@@Glutenanddairyfreelife hmm my Paddock day is Saturday but the legend pass does say I have access to the podium ceremony for Sunday. I guess I’ll figure it out when I’m there. Again thank you so much for the info!
Idk how it works for F1 but its crazy, must be the same, because i know my friend paid like 800 for the best spot and it was a 3 day pass.
nah, we bought bronze grandstand tickets for HUngary, weekend long, 127 euros. and you get great great viewing. Much better than the Monaco tickets.
You can get tickets for $180 dollars now. 10,000 unsold seats
I've not finished the video yet so you might cover this but Silverstone are taking the piss by moving to dynamic pricing.
I think if I stretch my budget to the max I can probably afford a 3k pass which I think is not a bad deal.
Don't turn the *BEEP* up so feckin loud.. some of us have proper systems!!
