How Much Do F1 Drivers Earn

  • Exactly what each F1 driver earns is a bit of a mystery, after all, no team principal is going to offer up that info but they have a pretty good idea of what the other teams' drivers are earning and are happy to speculate.
In this video I run through what each F1 driver is believed to be earning and analyse what they do to increase their earnings. And for those in business, please have a look at the world's best on line staff training platform, www.canity.com

The problem with normalizing the “pay driver” conversation is that it blurs the lines between a backed driver (literally everyone) through junior programs, private sponsors or even loans (Lauda) is that there’s still some merit tied to the sponsors funding of the drivers. When you say yeah Lauda was a pay driver that’s a little different than loaded dads backing their sons to the umth degree, funding teams, buying teams, the disconnect widens and talent is obscured.

    • @deepaksrinivasmondal
      @deepaksrinivasmondal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks for bringing this up. I am pretty conflicted as to whether I like this or not. (True, nothing changes with my liking it or disliking it). Technically, if you are great at selling yourself, there is a great chance of some random company backing you because you have marketed yourself well.
But having said that, HAAS or Racing Point do need to win, eventually. They need to perform so that their other sponsors are happy. They need to perform so that they have a brighter future ahead. So I feel like there is or there should be some sort of a line in the sand that the team principals and owners would draw where the money that is coming in is not worth the talent that is not. Interesting times!

Niki Lauda basically bought his way into f1. What you fail to realise is f1 is built upon wealth. Car ownership was always the privilege of the rich. I'd argue the trend of "paid driving" is moving downwards because of the super licences scheme. Stroll won f3 and is a damn good driver. Maybe not the best but he's no slouch.

@@dnsmcbr104 Just going off of figures on the internet, I'd say Lando earns around $10,000 USD a month based on his viewership figures IF he's streaming regularly. But because Lando doesn't really stick to a regular streaming schedule (people who make careers off twitch do it almost daily), he might ACTUALLY only be making around $5000 ish USD a month (maybe even less now that he's racing) which is really not that much compared to his regular F1 income. Lando is popular on twitch, but not massively popular and he usually gets around 500-1000 subscribers and around 10,000 - 20,000 views filtering in and out on average during a livestream, more or less depending on if it's a sponsored stream or not (also not counting total accumulated views because that can often come from after the stream and that doesn't make any money). This is all based off Twitch streamer Disguised Toast's figures which he revealed in 2018 when he was at a similar level in terms of viewership, followers and subscribers.

Not even Nascar drivers make it to 20 Years of a Career often. But of course as we know it isn't really a 20 year career Kimi has had, it's really just 20 years of his Hobby lol.

Pay drivers are annoying or bad because they aren't performing or not worth it, when they do amazing things like Lauda/Schumacher/Alonso they become winning drivers or just good drivers heck maybe even called talents (and in case of those 3) world champions and legends. The pay drivers we currently have are in the 1st camp, sadly just not worth it yet (for f1/fans) they might be able to show their worth but until then they will get a lot of hate, some deserved some not deserved.

You should do a video (if you haven't already, but I can't seem to find one) on some people that have been around the paddock for ages.
Some photographers, long time commentators etc.
Only example I know is Olav Mol who has done more than 500 races as a commentator, would be cool to get to know some more of these F1 veterans

He got that for his talent over the last few years, winning many races with Ferrari and challenging for the title in 2018 etc. If Ferrari offered him a contract for 2021 it would have been much lower. There was speculation it would be half. Maybe 15mill. But in the end he didn't even get an offer. For Aston Martin I think 15mill was the estimated salary. 10-15mill probably. Definitely not what it used to be.

It’s nuts how Vettel isn’t far behind Lewis for salary and ahead of everyone else. He’s on Leclerc’s salary and Ricciardo’s salary, combined, yet has been consistently outclassed by both. If Ferrari had to earn their money instead of strong arming Formula 1 for handouts maybe they wouldn’t have an abundance of cash to throw at blunder prone drivers like Vettel. Imagine what that money would have done for the teams lower down the grid.

    • @roxannelyson7715

Vettel is still 4wdc-s and about 50-40 race wins ahead of Leclerc and Riccardo respectively. Every driver has bad seasons. The fact that Vettel had only 2 bad seasons in his 12 years of F1 racing just proves his greatness.

Vettel is so overpaid, he doesnt even seem to be bothered about competing. Yes, there are issues within Ferrari and he s leaving next year, but we should at least see him try his heart and soul. Compare that to Sergio Perez who does not have a drive for next year with racing point, still drives every race with passion.

No saying that he is getting the same as what LeClerc is. Not being at Ferrari next year I guarantee he isnt getting the weekly upgrades that are on LeClercs car. The team wont want him sharing any new developments on the Ferrari, with his new team. Early in the season, he and LeClerc were neck and neck and after the announcement that Vettel would be moving on at the end of the year, his performance started to drop off.
