This game is by far the best representation of depression, grief, trauma, and guilt I've seen in any media. The subject matter is very heavy, but if you make it to the end a certain song wont leave your mind. I still cant listen to it without having to fight back tears.
@@MilesProwerUA no, it's not even close either. Undertale itself isn't about these subjects, but Omori is. Undertale's themes are more about making friends, love, control, and fitting in.
@@TopOfAllWorlds You just say that because it's harder to sympathise with a non-human characters. But Undertale's main plot revolves around a family in which two children have died tragically, and the adults divorced, and were left alone to slowly go insane from the grief and burden. The whole civilization being unfairly attacked in the war and imprisoned with no chance for retaliation. And some characters being trapped in a horrible time loop, reliving the death of their loved ones over and over. Idk about you, but that's all depressing af.
The game is simultaneously cute and wholesome AND delves into dark topics in very creepy ways. I honestly barely even view it as a horror game, it just has some horror elements that it uses to tackle the darker themes. But honestly to me the cuteness and wholesome vibes for the majority of the game is what really makes me love it and the characters. The darker stuff is just what elevates it to a gem of a game. It tackles these more heavy topics in an incredible way, but is still seamlessly able to go back to the more happy vibes when you're done. Usually that juxtaposition is done for shock value, but in here it really isn't, it still baffles me how well it's done.
Omori is so cute and wholesome until it isnt until it is again until it isnt until it is again until i just start crying uncontrolably out of pure bittersweetness
I think a big part of why this game works is that you'll go big stretches of gameplay, sometimes hours, without more than a couple hints of spookiness, only for it to bring the hammer down as hard as possible out of nowhere.

YAY! Omori's OST is a personal favourite of mine. If you are willing to do another Omori reaction, I'd recommend ''Underwater Prom Queens'', ''BREADY STEADY GO'', ''Final Duet'', ''OMORI'' and ''GOLDENVENGEANCE''.
I love this OST! And while it's cute in places, vibey in places, ravey in places, there are some tracks that reveal more dark undertones too. I remember the "black space" tracks and the "phobia" tracks too... This game's music does so many different moods in brilliant ways. Also, the final duet... Incredible. If you ever do a part 2 for this you'll get a better sense of just how wide ranging this OST can truly get. (Also if you see a track called Friendsssssss it's a literal musical jumpscare. Run.) Also highly recommend playing the game, it's one of my all time faves!
OMORIOMORIOMORI SHE DID IT !!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! The tracks on OMORI are super amazing, and i am so happy you listened to them! Now, a bit of context to “It Means Everything” without giving spoilers, its a fight where the person that you’re fighting is broken, which the song is almost the definition of. Its messy, its fragile, and it seems like its breaking, which almost resembles a person’s state of mind when they’re put into a stressful situation where they are pressured into doing something. Sosososososo happy you listened!! There are some other tracks that you missed that I would recommend in the future, too!
Omori is a gem and it's OST is amazing. It can make you feel sad, scared, or make you jam and forget that this is a horror game. I'm so happy that you decided to listen to it If you ever do a part 2 (or just if you want to listen on your own), I'd recommend "OMORI" and "Final Duet" to feel emotional, or "Bready Steady Go" and "Underwater Prom Queen" if you want to jam more I also recommend playing the game. It is an experience that became one of my favorite games
"It Means Everything": Picture yourself in a church with two of your best friends that you've not seen in 4 years, A and B. One of them, A is confronting another, B about something she stole off of a third friend of yours. After a heated argument, and after the church-goers start badmouthing B, she pulls out a baseball bat and attacks you and Friend A. This is the track that plays during that battle (the churchgoers' trash-talking continues in the background). Note the "wailing" sounds in the background of the piece. The character you're playing at is probably troubled by the whole thing. It makes sense that you couldn't make anything out of the piece: it's chaos, because that's probably what's going through the character's mind. In the game's files, it's named "Anxiety" which is a rather fitting name. His mind is probably just in turmoil at this point. The game, throughout the whole game, uses music to portray what is going through the protagonist's mind. Oh, and "See You Tomorrow" plays immediately after "It Means Everything" as soon as you exit the aforementioned church. It's a bit of a mood whiplash and I think that was wholly intentional. As far as it being "very pretty" ... uuuuh. This song is also played during "One Day Left", which is the last day before the protagonist moves away. He probably _won't_ be seeing his friends tomorrow.
Thanks for taking my suggestions! Loved the reaction! Also, would you like context for where each song plays? I don't know if you have a rule about that lol
Oh fuck yes, the second I saw Omori in the thumbnail I was hoping you had Worlds End Valentine in the video, by far my favorite boss theme from the game. When I first got to the fight I had to put the controller down and jam out for like 20 minutes straight lmao
Yeah Omori certainly has quite the weird mix of tracks in it's mix that you'd get to see more of if you do a second part to this, aside from what everyone had mentioned, I'd recommend "BLACK SPACE" "You Cannot Go Back" and "Tee-hee Time" all really good tracks to listen to 👍
If you want to do this again, I'd suggest looking at "You were Wrong. Go Back." and You Cannot Go Back (specifically in that order), Teehee Time, By Your Side, Here We are, Together Again-Treehouse, and Your Catastrophes.
The Omori OST is one of my favorites out there, in large part because theres just so many fantastic tracks, but also largely because of its ability to tell the themes of the game's story to someone who's never even seen it. god i love musical storytelling so much
I hope you do another Omori video! There are a good amount of other songs I'd love to see you react to! Some of my top pics not in this video would be: Where We Used to Play GOLDENVENGEANCE Hanging With the Boys A Home for Flowers (Empty) (there are other home for flowers themes but this one is my favorite) OMORI DUET these are just my personal favorites off the top of my head that are also pretty popular. Hopefully if you do another video you react to at least one or two of them!
It Means Everything plays at a very important part of the game where (as to not get into spoilers ill be vague) the not so cutesy part of the game really sets in and you start to piece together little bits of the story as your reluctantly fighting a very story relevant character in a fight that neither of you want, and this is only at under 1/3 of the game
You should listen to the undertale: yellow ost! You’ll be blown away I’m sure. A few songs I recommend from that game is “Once Upon a Truthful Time”, “Enemy Retreating”, “Apprehension”, “Showdown!”, and “Retribution”, and “Undertale Yellow”
Few of the songs in the soundtrack, like Worlds End Valentine are influenced by the Umineko soundtrack. The song's name is quite close to Worlds End Dominator from the said soundtrack, and the song Goldenvengeance references Goldenslaughterer. Umineko soundtrack as a whole is rather fantastic too but also so massive it can take a long time to get through, but I still recommend checking it as well. The visual novel's opening song for example is made by the Ar Tonelico composer and she does her usual stuff in it.
when she said see you tomorrow is a bit realistic, i just realised that its bcs in game we heard that ost when they are in the real town, not the headspace
*cracks up laughing at the first track being described as being someone making stuff in Animal Crossing because what a strangely accurate way to put it* Hmm. These recommendations are definitely on the 'non spoilery' side of things with none of the real horror tracks in it (closest was 'It Means Everything' but that's one's less horror and more... Rough times). And yes! You do forget its a horror game while playing at times! That's honestly part of the appeal, as is the incredibly lovable main cast and the plot having the most accurate portrayals of guilt, grief and trauma I've ever seen in any videogame
Please do “Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown” if you ever get around to it 👉🏻👈🏻 it’s one of my favourites, love to see your reaction. It’s not your typical flight simulator soundtrack 😎

Omori's OST is great, but it really only reaches its full potential when you play the game. I think you should consider doing a Let's Play of this game. It's a doozy.
honestly you cant judge the game just by listening to the OST, but you need to experience it, the game is really contextual, only cuz i played it i cant tell what everythin is about and understand every single piece of OST, its pretty special and you should try it too!
