Fun fact;spear of justice was originally more mellow but toby rewrote it because and I quote "it didn't sound enough like getting heroically punched in the face"
Spear of Justice sounds as loud and obnoxious as Undyne herself but in a good way
The original can be found on the wiki, Toby posted it somewhere awhile back. To me, it doesn't sound mellow, but rather dark and intimidating. Kinda like if you fought Undyne before she took her helmet off.

All these songs were composed by ONE guy, who also did pretty much the ENTIRE REST OF THE GAME. It's insane.

So without going into spoilers, Your Best Nightmare is essentially a boss fight that is completely different from any other fight in the game both mechanically and graphically, and the static is when it switches to a different phase in the fight which are twisted versions of the weapons you get throughout the game.
Can't put into words how well you dodge spoiling stuff.

Your Best Nightmare is basically like Toby Fox seeing Dancing Man and deciding to do his own, yet crazier, take on the concept.
"Your best nightmare" is one of these songs that don't make much sense musically, but makes a lot of sense in the battle it does happen.
'Your Best Nightmare' is probably one of my favorite tracks in the game; it really is accentuated by the actual gameplay during that bit too, gives more context to the sudden shifts in the song
And after all that chaos when "Finale" hits, it feel like finding the one sliver of light in the darkness

Also the creator and composer for Undertale (Toby Fox) worked on music for Pokemon too, like the Battle Tower theme in SwSh
And a lot of Scarlett Violet themes, like, a lot of them.

“Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have released! I had the honor of making a few songs for the game: "Tera Raid Battles", the "Academy Ace Tournament", and of course, "Battle! Zero Lab". I also composed "Area Zero", which was re-arranged by my friend Go Ichinose.
l also composed a majestic theme melody for the song "Academy". Surprisingly, this ended up used as a field theme for the whole game! Though, all songs using the melody were made by other amazing composers. (I love the soft piano version that plays at night.) Anyhow, that's all I did!”

its not just 1 or 2 songs that feel short, they all do! but when you play the game, they loop repeatedly and dont feel as short
Fun fact: all but one song on the soundtrack is synthesized. "Undertale" is the only one that's recorded live, which makes it hit even harder when you hear it in-game.

I havent played the game but i know all of the soundtracks. Onw day bonetrousle appeared on my youtube main page and i didnt even know the megalovania or sans. I listened the bonetrousle and i love it so much. Then i listened the other boss soundtracks (spider dance is the best of the best). Then i listened the entire soundtrack of undertale. I searched the story, characters and the lore after that and now i know much about the game. It's just because of the soundtracks. All of the ost are amazing (ny bad english)

it's the ost that made me wanna play Undertale, and it was one of the greatest experience of my life.
The full version of "Undertale" gets so much more emotional as it continues.
The laugh in your best nightmare is so much more horrific in game. Undertale is absolutely incredible and literally every track is a banger.
The best thing about Undertale is the repeated uses of leitmotif. It is best experienced in game, but otherwise if you can spare the time, listen to the full OST in order. You will hear repeated motifs throughout.
Megalovania is my favorite genre of music.
Her reaction throughout "Your Best Nightmare" sounded kinda like what you usually hear from people actually trying to play the part of the game it's from (especially 3:50-3:57)😆

Undertale definitely has one of my favorite soundtracks in an indie game.
One suggestion I do have is the battle themes from Pokemon Conquest if you haven't already listened to them before.
The dragon and fire battle themes are really good
If you ever planned on re-watching some more of the Undertale soundtrack, some key suggestions would be "Amalgam," "Hopes and Dreams," "His Theme," and "Battle Against a True Hero."
Plus Heartache, It's raining somewhere else, Dog song, Ghost Fight, Dating Start and don't forget Bird that carries you over a disproportionatly small gap

It's weird listening to original megalovania after hearing so many remixes like beats 2 and 4 being swapped or just general fangame remixes. Also small trivia for this ost. The reason why Toby was able to make 101 songs for this game (with the help of Temmie ofc) is because most opf them use the same leitmotif which is heard in the song "Fallen Down" aka the opening title sequence. It's a super smart decision of him
Fallen down is Toriel's overworld theme, not the title sequence. You're thinking of "Once upon a time".
The Megalovania in Undertale isn't the original. It's the third version. The first was in an Earthbound Halloween Romhack Toby made, and the second was one of his many contributions to the Homestuck soundtrack.

The sequence in Undertale (the game) that Undertale (the song) plays in is barely even a gameplay section it's just a hallway with random encounters giving you dialogue but it's one of the most emotional experiences I've had in my life. Undertale treads the balance between wacky hilariousness, soul destroying sadness, and uplifting beauty so perfectly. It's one of the greatest works of our time. Honestly if you play any of the games you go through in these videos make it Undertale
I’ll admit it, I legit cried a bit at that sequence as we were getting the backstory. The scene was so impactful and emotional.
I played Undertale a few months ago. The first time i ever cried from a game was that part. Then i cried for a couple of hours after finishing True Pacifist.
I would give everything just to play Undertale for the first time again
You should totally listen to some of the Deltarune ost aswell! It's created by the same composer, and Deltarune in itself is a kinda sequal/spiritual succesor to Undertale!

Yes. It's the theme of Sans' brother, Papyrus.
Asgore also has an introduction bit called Bergentrückung which really sets the mood even more.

Fun Fact: Megalovania was actually in 2 other pieces of media before Undertale. It first showed up in an Earthbound Halloween Hack made by Toby Fox, and he made the song for the final boss in his hack. It was brought back again later for the webcomic Homestuck, which Toby made most of the music for. And finally, it was put in Undertale, where it became a cult classic.
Another Fun Fact: Toby Fox developed most of Undertale in Andrew Hussie's (the guy who made Homestuck) basement.
I will say- Toby made a lot of music for HS, but by no means the majority. No shade intended, just want to correct a common misconception bc too often a lot of the other composers don't get due credit

This is how i found your channel. You've gained a new sub. PLEASE continue this series! you've barely scratched the surface of this godly OST.
As someone who has heard these songs a million times, your excitement hearing them for the first time is contagious.
Most of the songs there were from the late game, and while it's understandable, I think I would have liked to see one or two more early ones. I'll just give details (not very spoilerish ones ofc, just some quickly shown or minor ones without consequences) in in-game chronological order:
-Bonetrousle is one of Papyrus' themes. Papyrus is Sans' brother, and they're the only two ones with a special text font for their dialogues that are also how they got their names. You listen to this theme early enough.
-Spear of justice was, at a point in the development of the game, changed because Toby felt that it didn't feel like you were getting "heroically punched in the face" enough. Actual quote there. The character it's related to has a very passionnante spirit, and I'm downplaying it by saying that. It plays a bit of Bonetrousle.
- Death by glamour is one of my favorite Undertale themes, and a lot of people also have it among their favorites. You sure nailed the general vibe of a big party , but try smthin more like a battle to the death with a flamboyant character that likes to pose and to boast, to be famous and to entertain, to present shows and to see the ratings go crazy.
And it's at this point that there's a Split. For what? Undertale might be 7 yo now, but I don't want to risk spoiling it to a complete stranger to this game.
On one end, you'll hear Megalovnaia. Nothing to say about it, everyone knows it, moving on.
On the other hand, before the plave where Megalovania would play, there's Undertale.
And you dare commit the crime to NOT let the entire ost play out and to only put the begining here, stopping the viewers from getting the emotion drained reaction we all want to see with this ost!? Then perish/j
Afterwards, there's ASGORE.
Named after the character it is for, and he's the king of monsters, and yes it is a boss, that much is to be expected at this point. But, like you, he doesn't want for it to end with someone being killed.
But then Your Bet Nightmare comes around and throws you into the Abyss of chaos.
Anyway, I think you should check a let's play if you don't want to or can't play it. And then you should check out the fan musical, done by a group of artists and that is available (full and each song on their own) on the Chanel called Man on the Internet.

I kind of love that you said that every theme is so unique because this game reuses leitmotif after leitmotif over and over again everywhere. You could probably connect nearly every song in the game just through like 5 or 6 motifs (granted, that's not a bad thing because it's still really good music).
Undertale’s soundtrack is amazing. You should totally play through the whole game. Also for another song I’d probably suggest Fallen Down (reprise)

I really really REALLY hope that you react to the rest of the soundtrack, because this game has so many more absolute bangers and the use of leitmotifs is very prevalent throughout the entire soundtrack
Undertale is a game you should definitely experience! Though the fanbase is... Not so great, and people WILL try to backseat when someone streams the game.

@@GrimGriefer5 Basically, after Undertale released everyone wanted him to play him, but it already got apparend that this would be different when Mark said that everyone wanted him to play a certain way.
He had fun playing the game for the one or two parts he made, but got some incredible backlash from some Hardcore fans because he didn't play exactly how they wanted him to. So he stopped the lp after the video's comment section became a battleground (maybe on other social media sites there was also some backlash but im not sure about that).
Basically, some Assholes in the community bullied him for not playing how they wanted, so he stopped.
I believe he did sit next to another creator while that one was playing the game, but he didn't really care for the game.

I have never felt so happy about someone's feelings about a musical soundtrack. I played Undertale when it came out, loved every part of it and shared the experience with my loved ones as thoroughly as I could. It means nothing to anyone beyond myself, I know, but I appreciated this video nonetheless.

I love how the reaction to Undertale songs ending is almost always “Why isn’t that amazing music longer!?” That’s why we put them on loop baybee.
Anyway, my suggestion for another OST reaction is Pizza Tower. It is like…THE indie game right now, and not just for it’s absolutely bopping soundtrack.
The thing about all the Undertale battle themes except for “Your Best Nightmare” is that they all loop so they feel way longer than the song actually is
I can definetly recomment the OST of Hollow Knight. It is very fun to listen to and in my opinion tells the stories of the characters or portraits the atmosphere of the places you go in a very good way :)
Totally agree, themes like sealed vessel, reflection, hornet and resting grounds are awsome (the two zot themes are amazing with the context in mind)

It's a more obscure game, but World of Goo has my favorite OST of any videogame of all time, I'm sure you'll love it too! I'll also mention The Binding of Isaac, as it's also one of my favorites, but unlike World of Goo I'm almost sure you'll be seeing tons of other Binding of Isaac requests in future, lots of people rightfully love that OST.
Your Best Nightmare is a masterpiece. Conveys the genuine chaos happening, the cut aways are all unique and weird because it hits you out of nowhere, then you get a build up and a Triumphant March at the end.

Well… if nobody else is gonna say it then I will, react to Deltarune! Also made by Toby fox, also currently in development but the music is insane. Brilliant ost.
So a few (non-spoiler) things:
All of these (apart from "Undertale") were boss themes. The rest of the OST are bangers as well, but the boss themes are probably some of the most hype songs in the game.
Toby Fox made the original Spear of Justice before he fully decided on the character's personality. He then remade it to sound more like a 'heroic punch in the face'. The beta version is still really good though, since it was mostly finished.
ASGORE is one of the most feelsy songs in the game. A climactic fight between the player and King of Monsters, neither side wanting to fight, but knowing that they have to. There's a ~10 second theme that plays immediately before it as an intro called "Bergentruckung", which iirc translates to "Mountain King".
I love this soundtrack (and game in general) so much, it's always fun to see other people's reactions to it.

Asgore being the king is absolutely a spoiler, the game goes out of its way to deliberately present "Asgore" and "King Dreemurr" as two separate people. Him not wanting to fight is also a spoiler, as the reason the game tricks you in this way is to set up doubt as to Asgore's motives and moral standing.
Part two is required because the other songs are masterpieces of music

I'm sure someone has already posted it but there is a full concert for the undertale soundtrack. I highly recommend giving it a watch. Though I'd understand not wanting to record ur reaction to it for youtube considering how long it is
I don't have the greatest repertoire of games with memorable soundtracks. But if I had to recommend one game over all others, it would be Sonic Unleashed. Has a diverse soundtrack owing to it's levels being inspired by real-world cities and locales. The Middle-East, Polar Caps, NYC, Italy, Coastal Greece, Hawaii, and Eggman's city.
A third of the soundtrack is fast-paced rock combined with different cultural instruments, another is slow and atmospheric music using cultural instruments, and a third are 'street' music based on the cultures of the cities.
It's all-around great stuff.

The fun bit where it goes into pretty piano in the Asgore theme is actually the game over screen music put into the tempo of the boss fight. There's lots of fun little self-references all over the place in Undertale's OST.

Spider Dance might just be my favorite of the songs, underrated imho because there are so many other amazing tracks that often take the spotlight.
Battle against a True Hero is a must listen to Undertale song.
If I could recommend a video game OST it's Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Keep up the great content!

I hope you will or already have listened to more Undertale, as some of the best songs are still to come. In particular there are Hopes and Dreams, Battle Against A True Hero, and Heartache for faster paced songs, Snowy, Waterfall, and Premonition for more laid back/atmospheric tunes, and Memory for hitting you right in the feels.
Undertale OST is great as always. For another game, I recommend Hollow Knight OST, they're pretty good
btw the your best nightmare song is in the fight where a evil creature is trying to destroy the world and take your ability to use the save button the reason it has so much power is cus theres souls tryna escape inside of it and the weird intermission songs in-between the scary one are the souls tryning to escape
I'm glad you liked Undertale OST, I reccomend cheacking out some themes from the OMORI videogame, it has such a beautiful soundtrack
