Yes, I've been waiting years for this! (Visorelle here) Omori is a weird game. It reminds me of those old school rpg maker horror games, but a fully fleshed proper game. It's an rpg, you fight with emotions. Most of the fights take place in the main character's head while they're dreaming (hence the whimsical thumbnail). These two songs are boss fights. Worlds End Valentine you fight this kind of manic magical girl type character. Tee hee Time you fight a sort of perfected version of that magical girl. That's why i paired them together, they're related in that way. Not all of the boss themes in this game are this extreme, of course, but they are all bangers! Hope to see your reactions to more from this game!
"Old School RPG Maker Horror Game, except it has actual RPG in it" sounds about right. It really summarizes this thing the best without going into the why, which... eh, it's one of those "it's cool when things are put one step after another, otherwise it's confusing" package deal. It's like trying to say why Undertale is cool without coming out cheesy.
OMORI is a VERY emotional game, these just happen to be some of the most detached songs from those themes. The best two which convey those feelings are "DUET" and "OMORI" (and its continuation "OMORI - ALTER")
There's also "By your side" which is calming despite a spooky theremin instrumentation. But the cherry on top is the little blue note that's thrown into the very stable diatonic melody, that almost feels like someone tripping, which all the people who played the game know the significance. Also composed by Pedro Silva by the way. And if you think, I'm pulling this out of my ass, just jest check the first bar of sheet music for "Duet". There are easter eggs hidden even in the least expected places.
Omori's OST is one of those OSTs that is pretty good if you just listen to it, but becomes life-changing once you play the game. It's hard to explain, but so many of the songs become so so much better when you know the context.
You would absolutely NEVER guess what this game is like from these two tracks. If I had money to throw around, I'd have you hear OMORI ( yes, like there is a track named Undertale in Undertale, there's a track named OMORI in OMORI ), and then Duet ( often called Final Duet by fans ). Just to give you the extreme juxtaposition.
These are 2 of the most intense themes in the game so while they don't really represent how most of the ost is I can assure you this ost bangs I rate it
personally my favourite track from omori is "It means everything." its one of the most simplistic songs in the soundtrack but it sounds so unlike anything ive ever heard, and it feels so increadibly haunting every time i hear it.
Huge agree and glad others thought so. I was enjoying the game a lot but "It Means Everything." was the moment I immediately knew this game was gonna be special
@@WillowWytch69 My favourite used to be You cannot go back, but after playing the sunny route, i think It means everything ties up with it as my favourite one
Among other things, Omori has one of the coolest status effect systems in a turn based RPG. Taunt your friend to make them angrier, then she delivers an auto crit headbutt.
The reason you probably had these requests early on in your channel blowing up (besides the amazing quality of these songs) is that this game was very fresh in our minds at that time, considering this game released on Christmas Day in 2020. Omori is a really special game with a very interesting history. Based off the creator Omocat's tumblr-based webcomic Omoriboy, the game launched a Kickstarter in 2014 with a wonderful trailer that enabled it to be funded after a day. Note when I said its release day was though... yeah the game had a very troubled development which, coupled with sparse communication from the development team, brought up fears of that the game would ever come out. After years of speculation, these fears were finally quelled when a trailer was released in 2020 with a release date of that Christmas. Doubly so when we played the game and it was captivating and fantastic. It has one of the most heart wrenching stories I have ever experienced, and I recommend it to everyone I can, especially those who have a penchant for SNES RPGs, RPG Maker horror indie games, and/or people who just love touching narratives. The soundtrack is a massive part of Omori's appeal. These two songs are standouts among the soundtrack, being high energy boss fight themes between connected characters, and many of the other boss fight themes carry similar energy to these two. The soundtrack is super varied though with many bops and many more moody tracks that deliver incredible atmosphere. The massive soundtrack was primarily done by Pedro Silva (who goes by the pseudonym Slime Girls, and has worked on other indie games Ooblets, Guildlings, and Button City) who contributed to 144 of the 179 songs on the OST, with major contributions by Jami Lynne (who goes by Clover & Sealife, after having previously gone by Space Boyfriend) who contributed to 35 songs, and Calum Bowen (who goes by bo en, a musician who also contributed to many indie games like the Lovely Planet games, Pikuniku, and the Nintendo-backed Switch launch title Snipperclips) who did 3 songs including the extremely popular theme to the first trailer. In addition to those composers, the game features many guest contributors including Toby Fox (a friend of Omocat's from EarthBound fansite days, Omocat actually inspired an enemy in Undertale and is credited for that!) who contributed 1 song in the game. This game is truly special and I hope to see many more songs show up from it on this channel!
My favourite soundtracks of Omori are: DUET, See you tomorrow, My time, Bready steady go, tussle among trees, Underwater prom queens. I literally can't stop listing everything, every OST is SOOOOOO GOOD. I definetly recommend the entire soundtrack xddd
I was honestly just thinking about you listening to Omori’s ost not so long ago! And started off with some bangers too! It’s got a pretty special place in my heart for having so far stuck with me about as emotionally as when I first played it.
I JUMPED when i saw you were reacting to omori OST, and two absolute bangers as well. It would be great if you also played the game someday on your vods channel, but xenoblade is already an amazing series so i can't complain
Highly recommend you do a completely 100% blind playthrough of this game, if you really wanna know more about it. Looking up anything is certainly gonna spoil you big-time, and this is the kind of game that you really have to see with your own eyes, fresh. But it is a huge emotional rollercoaster and it has been known to live rent-free in peoples' heads long after they completed the game.
I cannot believe this is your first Omori experience, oh my GOD... The whole thing is such a solid soundtrack, I hope there are more Omori requests in there...!!!!!
I don't wanna gas it up and give you too high expectations, but the variety in music you find in Pizza Tower and Undertale is also in Omori, just a lot more Sad/Disturbing 😂.
I’m pretty sure I tried to request this one a while back but you told me there were already a bunch of requests for it, so I got a free request in return haha
I really love this game, as someone who grew up on FF7 and FF9 this was probably the most refreshing RPG experience next to Undertale. However, it really caught me off guard as unlike Undertale, the story is a lot more of a... let's say a real one. You know, one that isn't about some fictional universe where there's a hidden society monsters living underground - not exactly a 100% relatable premise. Like you observed with all of the objects in the OST artwork, the game captures a late 1990s/early 2000s vibe really well as it takes place in that time, so it's a very nostalgic experience for around that late 20s - 30s crowd (which I'm in). While very sad, I think the narrative of the game is extremely valuable. I've read about a lot of people's experiences with the game, which can be summarized as being very (positively) impactful to their lives even if it was emotionally painful at times. Anyway, the OST is really fantastic and varied with these probably being the most high-octane tracks. Outside of the boss battles, even just the regular battle music is super good with there being no less than 8 different ones that play in different settings. I really appreciate that since a lot of RPGs just have their one main battle theme, but they went the extra mile here. Beyond the OST, scope of the content and polish of the game in all other aspects is just really impressive. Some early non-battle/boss tracks I would recommend are: -By Your Side. -A Home For Flowers (Tulip) -Sugar Star Planetarium These give you a nice sampling of things without spoiling some of the more standout moments.
Sooooo....you want to know what omori is about? Well I recommend you play it yourself. It is not very long, about 20 hours more or less. Is it good? Well yes, it is very polished and well designed. Plays like a very old RPG like the first Final Fantasys but with its own unique style. The music is....a wild ride let's put it that way. So yeah, you are in for a journey and a halve. The Story is on the darker side to put i lightly. So again, looking forward to more Omori content with you
Omori is really emotional, but it's also very quirky and goofy. The basic premise is that most of the game takes place on the dreams of a kid who has a repressed trauma, so a big part of the game consist on exploring his wacky escapism dreamland and both these ost come from that aspect. Also, Omori is RPGmaker game, but it's combat system is actually *really* good and unique, these 2 themes are from bossfights, with Tee-hee time being the theme of the optional ultra hard boss that pushes the combat system to it's very limits.
Yeah this soundtrack is nuts. Ranges from whimsical melodies, to these insane boss themes to stuff that made bawl my eyes out. Omori is an earthbound-like rpg which has maybe the most likeable cast in any game I’ve played. The game switches between cutesy dream world, to emotional drama to psychological horror and it’s like a roller coaster. I was so damn invested and the major twist of the game shocked me to my core. It’s become my favourite game of all time.
This is such a funny way to be introduced to the Omori OST. It’s like listening to the undertale OST, but your first songs are megalovania and your best nightmare.
I may be an Undertale fanboy but Omori is probably the most insane indie game I've played. Kind of suffers from a filler-y midgame in my opinion, but the writing for the core plot goes so hard! You wanted to know what the game is about, but the articulated formation of a fever dream is probably the best description I can offer. Eagerly awaiting "OMORI" and "DUET" as those are sure to come up! My personal favorite is "You Were Wrong. Go Back".
Omori is pretty much a massive tribute to everything OMOCAT likes and it shows even on the soundtrack, but more than that it's the most tastefully executed horror rpg I've ever played and one you really shouldn't overlook if you're a fan of the rpgmaker style at all
You need to react to more omori ost! Seriously every single emotional, epic, silly songs in this game are so good it made me play the game in the first place
This game has quite a varied ost that spans across a very whimsical dream world and a fairly normal and occasionally depressing real world. The first theme here is for the second major boss you fight, and the second is for the game’s final super boss who’s only available if you take the route that locks you out of the good ending
I love the part of world’s end valentine that sounds like G.E.N.O.V.A. Because the character you’re fighting at the time is being constructed by the aliens and has similar themes to FF7.
