The following message is a message that I wrote to copy and paste it anywhere where I want. This is a disclaimer and guide for content creators and people who want to play UNDERTALE. I made it to prevent spoilers. Don’t listen to any advice on how to play the game. Your choices are important and so are your mistakes. If you want a „perfect“ playthrough, you can just play the game again. Also, take your time with reading the dialogue. Just take your time and don’t stress about being entertaining to your viewers. For me seeing the player take it all in is much more enjoyable. Just try to avoid any help or spoilers in your first playthrough. And maybe also on your second playthrough. Unless something something something needing help something something. Also here is some quick advice on what to do when booting up the game for the first time: When you boot up the game it won’t be in fullscreen until you press F4. Though the intro will play immediately upon opening the game and cannot be paused but it can be skipped by pressing a button. And if you do nothing on the title screen for a few seconds either after skipping the intro or letting it play out, the intro will repeat itself. So just boot up the game, set everything up and then wait on the title screen for the intro to repeat and then read what you see. Here is a guide for the „somethings“. DO NOT READ BEFORE HAVING PLAYED YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH! So. You have completed your first playthrough of UNDERTALE. Wait. You did do that right? I mean, the game isn’t over until you see the credits. So you have seen the credits right? Because some people think that the game is already over after Flowey crashes the game or after they restarted the game and think that „this“ is the ending. Okay. So you have played through the game? Good. So. What do you wanna do in your second playthrough? Depending on a certain choice towards the end of the game you may have been told something that you should do. If not, then skip ahead. Anyway, cya at the ending if you are gonna replay the game now. Oh yeah. Also, whatever you do, don’t switch to a new pc without carrying over your save data or something. And don’t pull something stupid like re-installing the game. Even if in most scenarios it won’t matter because the game always remembers everything. The good and the bad. Unless you deliberately delete certain things manually. So uh… Don’t just continue somewhere else. So. You’ve done it. You haven’t killed anyone and completed the game. Welp. Was it worth it? I don’t know if Flowey told you what to do next but if he didn’t then let me do it. You should load your save file. You maybe could’ve been better friends with PAPYRUS and Undyne. And definitely with Dr. Alphys. Maybe that will bring you your „happy ending“. See you after you have encountered the next save point after hearing the word „Frisk“. I would recommend you to backtrack through the entire underground and say goodbye to everyone you can find. Though, if you don’t have the time right now then SAVE and come back later. But don’t exit the underground yet until you have gone back to the place where you first fell down into the underground and started your journey. If you’re gonna talk to everyone this might take 2 hours. 2 hours of reading dialogue and walking from npc to npc. Where each npc has multiple lines of dialogue until it starts looping. Some of it is more important and some of it less. Anyway. That’s it. After this, go get your ending. And take a break. Maybe even go to bed. You deserve it. So you did it. Are you satisfied? You probably are satisfied. Or do you wanna replay the game once more? And maybe find out what happens when you go down a different darker path. „What happens if I kill everyone?“ Do you want to do that? If yes, then go ahead! If no… Maybe just watch someone else do it. If you want to you could even post a reaction video of you reacting to someone else doing a genocide route. And feel free to read the rest of all this now. But if you wanna play it yourself and experience it yourself then you’re in for a ride. This time, just get the Toy Knife in the RUINS and then grind for encounters until you reach LV 20. And always end battles throughout the entire game using the FIGHT button. Everything will be self-explanatory. Just make sure to immediately kill Snowdrake and Lesser Dog in Sowdin Forest. And make sure that you… Cya at the end of the RUINS. „But nobody came.“ Welp. Guess you can’t reach LV 20 after all. Just make sure that you kill everyone before fighting the next major boss. Aka PAPYRUS, Undyne and the others. Minibosses like The canine unit or the Royal Guards 01 and 02 can be fought before „But nobody came.“ shows up. So. See ya at the end of it all. Just wait 10 minutes if you haven’t already. So. You’re back. There are some funny name easter eggs when naming the fallen human. Chara, AAAAAA, Mercy, Murder and Gerson are the only ones that you can’t know beforehand. With the others just enter the names of characters you’ve met into the the name selection screen. PAPYRU works. There is also an easter egg when you start the game with the name „Frisk“. Make sure to play until the end of the RUINS with this name. You will get a cool border as a reward for doing that. (Borders can be changed in the settings menu.) If you really want to scrape at everything in the game then try completing the game again in pacifist and in the judgement hall after hearing sans‘ spiel, go back to your last save point and hear his spiel again. Also in front of the blue mystery door in Snowdin Forest if you walk around in the room with the door for 3 minutes then something will happen. You don’t know where it belongs? Depending on wich one we are talking about it’s either in sans‘ room or in the backdoor of their house. Have fun. Cya right before the ending. So. You are about to leave the underground? You can talk to every single character in the entire underground before leaving so if you haven’t done that then maybe you want to do that now. Most if not all characters have a lot of dialogue before dialogue exhaustion. Just interact with them until their dialogue loops. When ASRIEL appears with the special thanks, try to dodge all of them to unlock the mystery door in Snowdin Forest. That’s about everything I have to say. Maybe check out „What the Internet did to Undertale“ by Super Eyepatch Wolf if you want to. Just as a disclaimer for after you watched it that GLITCHTALE despite it’s popularity has bad writing and was made by someone who supports a child abuser. Now go play deltarune. Chapters 1 & 2 are free and available to play now. The rest are still in development and will cost you money. Cya! Or not.
1:48 hopes and dreams is about a dead goat kid who has his life essence be restored into a Flower, as a Flower he felt no emotions but eventually he had to give it all up
I super love your react videos! Would absolutely love to see your analysis of songs in a playthrough if you ever wanted to do that! Musicians playing undertale is maybe my favorite genre of let's play, since every song tells the story - even hides additional lore. Absolutely love your reacts! Thanks for making and sharing them!
It was hearing the soundtrack that first convinced me to play the game, too. I was amazed at how the music could make me feel nostalgic for a game I'd never played before. It remains one of my best game experiences.
Battle against a true hero, a battle where you fight against the most determined monster, with them feeling all of the worlds hearts beating as one and as this hero quotes, “it’s going to take a little more then THAT to kill me”
Dummy’s one of my favorite boss fights in Undertale because it’s just so ridiculous. You’re wandering through a junkyard, then suddenly a training dummy you walked by attacks you because it’s possessed by an angry ghost.
Hoo boy, so excited for you to play undertale! Gonna echo some of the comments and saying you should probably pre-record it if you do (and since you've confirmed you know there's different endings I'd say take no tips on how to play, play however comes natural to you then go do some other big endings if you enjoy your first run. Streaming usually results in heavy backseating and people forcing their first route choice on others, especially for first time players!)
Undertale changed my life with how it was written and the music. A recommendation if you do play the game, if you decide to post things about it, wait until after you have played the game. I’ve seen multiple people that are more forced to go one direction by their audience and causes them to not enjoy it. Play at your own pace and if want to post you can, but you don’t have to. Have Fun!
I didn't realize until looking it up just now, but apparently Toby Fox was involved in making the Area Zero theme in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, which is why Another Medium sounds vaguely similar to it
Im surprised you didn't mention the leitmotif of 2:23 comin in shortly at 3:40 for the Shop song, but regardless nice video! Undertale is indeed a vibe
"Where have I heard that before?" This game uses a LOT of leitmotifes! And "Dummy" is a remix of "Ghost Fight", which also gets remixed into "Spider Dance" and then "Mad Mew Mew", if I remember correctly. EDIT: If you ever do a part 3, I highly recommend "Dog Casino", from an area exclusive to the Xbox version of the game!
When I saw the area where "Here We Are" plays for the first time, I thought undertale was a horror game, here we are is now one of my favourite themes though.
the funny thing is, for the longest time i didn't really like hopes and dreams, cause the bit with the bass always felt off-time i always listened with 1 earbud then i learned it was distorted between the left and right buds lmao
I think that the point of Undertale is the player's experience. A lot of people, especially when the game first got popular, told people specifically how to play the game to get the ending they wanted, which turned some people off from the game.
You KNOW it's serious when you recognize a main theme playing during the final battles. Okami. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (also, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon) etc.
I think my only wish was that maybe you had experienced Hopes and Dreams last as I think it is most effective when you realize it's both a finale song and a call back to previous moments in the game.
About if you heard "Dummy!" before, Toby Fox tends to recycle music. "Dummy!" is a remix of "Ghost Fight", the theme of when you fight Nastablok, who is a ghost, and Dummy is a dummy posessed by a ghost. Also, "Spider Dance" is a remix of "Dummy!".
If you enjoyed Battle Against a True Hero then I suggest a Touhou OST reaction, it's the biggest influence to that theme in particular, and it's also ZUN - the developer and composer for Touhou -'s favorite in the entire soundtrack. Hope one of the patreon patrons can recommend it too!
"Where have I heard that before?" Undertale is a straight up masterclass in the use of leitmotifs. "Dummy" sounds like "Spider Dance." Even "Shop" shares similar sounds with "Hopes and Dreams", and the motif of "Hopes and Dreams" is also featured in the second part of "Fallen Down (Reprise)". Toby Fox did, like, 7 motifs for the entire game, and made so many different tracks together with them. I also like how Toby makes a few tracks that sound like they should be terrifying, but with a beat that slaps.
@@ShadyNetworker it, along with Spider Dance, all use the same motif for thier theme. I don't know the exact name for it, but it's basically a mid-level mini-boss theme.
I don’t know how much traction this will get so it’ll probably turn into a multiple request so: day 1 of asking checking out the Destiny/Destiny 2 OST Some of my top picks: - The Man They Called Cayde - Journey (this is a must) - Queen’s Oracle - The First Disciple - Sepiks Redux - Deep Stone Lullaby - Oreinophobia - Regicide
Hope you have lots of fun with the game when you get to it (and have context for the music)^^ even though you might be a bit spoiled now (yes, I consider hearing the music spoilers as well)
Yeeeeessssssss part twwooooooooooooooo!!! And oh my god I can't believe you started with hopes and dreams xD In my opinion it is the best song in Undertale, followed closely by ASGORE
Since you really liked Battle Against a True Hero, I highly recommend you listen to some Touhou music on the channel at some point, it's a series made almost entirely by a single person named ZUN, and his music highly inspired the aforementioned Undertale track!

(By the way I know other people have said this, but if you do post yourself playing it, I highly suggest prerecording them and either not reading comments on them or playing the whole thing before you start posting the footage. Undertale is a fantastic game and I'd hate for you to get spoiled or harassed by people who want to backseat game, which is unfortunately a problem that plagued the game in its heyday. There is no "correct" way to play the game and everyone should be allowed to have their own unique experience with the game!)
I've yet to play Undertale myself, but just seeing what the fandom has created and learning about the actual game has changed me.
"Here we are", the darkest part of Undertale, this song gives me some really bizarre vibes by knowning well what happened in the place where it plays.
Hopes and Dreams is one of the final boss themes (the game has multiple endings and multiple final bosses) and IMO it's the easiest of the 3. But the song is so impactful.
Its the easiest boss you cant die
NOoOOo she was talking during the best drop of hopes and dreams 😂
after listening to Undertale music you can feel that Galar's Battle Tower Boss music is very "Toby". his composing style and the instrument samples he uses are all familiar.
also a fun fact about Battle Against a True Hero: it's inspired by music found in Japanese bullet hell game series, Touhou. in 2018 when Toby met Zun, the creator of Touhou, Zun told him that he found that theme cool.
Seeing you react the these songs fill me with DETERMINATION
Battle against a true hero is a theme for the same character that Spear of justice is. So you get the heroic vibes
Definitely do a pre-recorded playthrough. Would love to watch it
I also decided to play Undertale after I heard the soundtrack. And boy was I missing out
I love how thoroughly expressive you are in these videos. Never thought I'd actually get entertained by seeing someone just react to game soundtracks but you proved me wrong. Somehow this is genuine entertainment.
Subbed. Hope you do that playthrough of undertale here if you're going to do it, I always miss stuff on Twitch because I'm never there except for the occasional gen 1 pokemon stream lol
12:15 : "Oh this is about to change my life, isn't it".
My reaction : "You are so not ready for what's coming to you right now."
I love the Shop theme so much! Its the epitome of warm and cozy, like walking into your home and out of the snow
I think you'd really like extended versions, so it doesn't feel like it suddenly abrupts. ;)
Although it'll still end one way or another, I think she just means that some songs necessarily don't have an ending and it ends suddenly.
With the reaction to Battle Against a True Hero i wonder what she would think of the Touhou OST
And make sure that you…
Cya at the end of the RUINS.
(Borders can be changed in the settings menu.)
If you really want to scrape at everything in the game then try completing the game again in pacifist and in the judgement hall after hearing sans‘ spiel, go back to your last save point and hear his spiel again.
Battle against a true hero will always give me chills
i LOVE that abrupt ending with the little plot twist :)
lets gooooo! you're in for a treat
This video's ending just hits so hard
It was hearing the soundtrack that first convinced me to play the game, too. I was amazed at how the music could make me feel nostalgic for a game I'd never played before. It remains one of my best game experiences.
Undertale has some of my favorite songs, Hopes and Dreams especially! Such an uplifting song
"Where have I heard that before?"
This game uses a LOT of leitmotifes!
You HAVE to listen to finale, imo the best song in the game, lives up to its title
7:27 no, Oooooo is a different track
Can't believe heartache wasn't included in these two videos
When I saw the area where "Here We Are" plays for the first time, I thought undertale was a horror game, here we are is now one of my favourite themes though.
Hopes and dreams makes me feel like I can do parkour with no training whatsoever
yyyh literally flying over obstacles
"SAVE the World" is basically a companion piece to "Hopes & Dreams", would recommend listening to that if you haven't already.
"Here we are" is literally when you arrive to the creapiest part of the game.
Hopes and Dreams has been my default ringtone for nearly a decade now, it's also my phone alarm tone.
As a sylveon, I am happy you reacted to Undertale music, it is very great
Fun fact about Dummy!: The ending parts of the melody repeats three times, just like the character that has this theme repeats words three times!
Your face is so real like the joy that bring this game to your ears
the funny thing is, for the longest time i didn't really like hopes and dreams, cause the bit with the bass always felt off-time
i always listened with 1 earbud
then i learned it was distorted between the left and right buds lmao
I think that the point of Undertale is the player's experience. A lot of people, especially when the game first got popular, told people specifically how to play the game to get the ending they wanted, which turned some people off from the game.
The context of these themes really makes them mean a lot more
You KNOW it's serious when you recognize a main theme playing during the final battles.
Okami.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky
(also, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon)
etc.
I'll take this over soulless corporate orchestral dregs any day
What beautiful way to end the stream. The clift hanger to get many people excited.
Something I just realised: does Here We Are remind anyone else of the Goosebumps theme?
"Viewer beware, youre in for a scare~"
I think my only wish was that maybe you had experienced Hopes and Dreams last as I think it is most effective when you realize it's both a finale song and a call back to previous moments in the game.
I stand myself as corrected as I didn't realize you made a video with much more of the OST almost a year ago!
5:11 it’s from spider dance if someone hasn’t told you already.
It’s napstablook’s theme
If you enjoyed Battle Against a True Hero then I suggest a Touhou OST reaction, it's the biggest influence to that theme in particular, and it's also ZUN - the developer and composer for Touhou -'s favorite in the entire soundtrack. Hope one of the patreon patrons can recommend it too!
pls listen to finale and its raining somewhere else from undertale
Very nice. Though I miss a song on that list. Probably one of the most iconic songs of that game and seems nobody mentions it 😢
My only gripe is that I wish Emily had reacted to Save the World immediately after Hopes and Dreams
"Where have I heard that before?"
Undertale is a straight up masterclass in the use of leitmotifs. "Dummy" sounds like "Spider Dance."
Even "Shop" shares similar sounds with "Hopes and Dreams", and the motif of "Hopes and Dreams" is also featured in the second part of "Fallen Down (Reprise)".
Toby Fox did, like, 7 motifs for the entire game, and made so many different tracks together with them.
I also like how Toby makes a few tracks that sound like they should be terrifying, but with a beat that slaps.
Dummy sounds like a remix of Napstablook's theme.
@@ShadyNetworker it, along with Spider Dance, all use the same motif for thier theme. I don't know the exact name for it, but it's basically a mid-level mini-boss theme.
I hope Battle Against a True Hero makes you fall into the Touhou rabbit hole
I don’t know how much traction this will get so it’ll probably turn into a multiple request so: day 1 of asking checking out the Destiny/Destiny 2 OST
Some of my top picks:
- The Man They Called Cayde
- Journey (this is a must)
- Queen’s Oracle
- The First Disciple
- Sepiks Redux
- Deep Stone Lullaby
- Oreinophobia
- Regicide
I absolutely love the Undertale OST! The reason why the songs are so short is because they don't loop.
Hope you have lots of fun with the game when you get to it (and have context for the music)^^ even though you might be a bit spoiled now (yes, I consider hearing the music spoilers as well)
I am disappointed that you didn’t do Finale, but maybe next time
Yeeeeessssssss part twwooooooooooooooo!!!
And oh my god I can't believe you started with hopes and dreams xD
In my opinion it is the best song in Undertale, followed closely by ASGORE
The reason why "Dummy" sounds so familiar is because "Spider Dance" is a remix of that theme.
Since you really liked Battle Against a True Hero, I highly recommend you listen to some Touhou music on the channel at some point, it's a series made almost entirely by a single person named ZUN, and his music highly inspired the aforementioned Undertale track!
