Just bought a 23 VB and I have to say I love your set up! Those sti wheels look great! And that exhaust reminds me of the good old days when JDM was done in a clean and simple way!
Thank you for responding directly to my comment About the level of sound in the backseat. You’ve made this exhaust that much more compelling of a choice.
I was thinking about getting an axle back but this video made me go for Tomei. I’ll wait a little longer and get the Tomei once for all but I will cover the right side exhaust cutout for sure.
Would love to see some off roading with this car, the gold wheels give it that rally vibe and it sounds so good with the tomei definitely a great sounding engine/exhaust combo
I am not really to sure what the next upgrade should be with my WRX. I am so happy with where it is at right now. Would like to update the cloth seats with leather and definitely some exterior tasteful visual upgrades.
I've had my car for a month. The first week i had it, I put on the MBRP axle back that has the black shrouds. Sounds awesome, until you hear the drone at about 2.5k on to about 3.7k RPM. I just picked up the Noble Titanium single exit. Just waiting to get it to put it on. Honestly, based off of your Noble video. I can't wait!
@@raymondruan4808I love it! It isn't overbearing like the axle backs were. It's tame and doesn't really drone. It has kind of a more pronounced rumble on highway speeds. But no drone. But when you get on it, you can really hear it. Plus it is so lightweight
Love the video and thank you for the comparison…. In my 40’s ….i want good performance over anything too loud….what would you think of the Tomei dual extorted the single?? Any louder?
I would think the dual exit Tomei would be even quieter. With having the exhaust divided and split out 2 mufflers with half the flow compared to single exit would be quieter. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. 👍
Fair assessment on AWE. I have the AWE touring on my VB and while it does sound good IMO, there is way too many quality control issues that it has such as fitment issues, V-band leaking condensate, poor welds, and damaged product (my mid pipe resonator was dented and muffler tips were bent out of shape). I ended up installing it anyways since I waited nearly 3-4 weeks for it arrive. Overall, I think its an okay product. I would only recommend it if you really like how it sounds. Otherwise there is way better options out there for a >1500$ exhaust.
If you buy the full ets catback vs axleback you get full 3" all the way to mufflers vs axleback splits to 2.5". You can also decide if you want resonator or muffler or both, plus 2 more v-bands. I'm debating between ETS, Cobb Titanium(on sale for $1k atm), or RAE.
Glad you enjoyed hearing all the different systems. I am going to be keeping the Tomei, I already sold the ETS system too. The Noble system is pending sale this Saturday. I would sell the AWE if I sill had it, but I sent it back and never received a replacement. The AWE was heavy at around 55 pounds. Tomei 17.9 and Noble at 12ish pounds.
Awesome video as always! I have the remark muffler deletes, just ordered a rae intermediate pipe but not sure if i want to keep the remark or switch to Tomei or Noble!!!!
I have not had a chance to listen to the Remark in person. The videos online sounds pretty good. Hope you like that Rae intermediate pipe. I will be installing the Perrin header and J pipe soon. Waiting for Jeff Perrin to send those to me for another product launch video for the VB community..
Tip. Soundproof your trunk lid, and under the spare. It cuts out the metallic tin-can reverberation that can ruin the sound of any exhaust, even stock. I also did this with the hood, bought the JDM hood liner that isn't on US cars, and put four patches of dynomat under it. The car now is Audi-ish in its sound (I've owned VWs and Audis) and it is a proper sounding sports sedan.
Nice video. I have a cbs VB. I’d love to have the Noble or Tomei. I’m creeping on 40 and want good sound but not too much as well 😅. Month ago I had lower lumber back surgery. Disc fusion with a cage and two rods. Healing has been well. Money has not been. Soooo for now VB modding has been shut down. I personally like the wrb with the color match flares. Maybe that would a consideration for your channel!
Only if they had a dual exit option I'm not a fan of the single tip so for now i have the aeroflowdynamics axleback extremely loud worth lots of pops and bangs
That's nice man, you own two Subaru's. You cant ever let your STI go. You have to hold on to that one forever. Glad to hear an VA STI owner likes my VB. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@JDMRightHandDrive absolutely man ,, love the VB I’ll own one one day !! And I’ll never get rid of my STI’s , had them both since new , my hatchback probably the cleanest one left !!!
Is the length of the Tomei adjustable at all? The quality looks great, but it sticks out a bit too far at the bumper so I'm leaning towards getting the Noble.
I ended up finding a used Noble single exit in my area. The sound is great. Much deeper tone than stock and a bit of rumble at low RPMs. Fits flush with the bumper. If you're worried about drone then get the Tomei instead.
I have seen the Aeroflow titanium exhaust. To me it appears to be produced by the same manufacture that makes the Noble exhaust out of Taiwan. Looks like a nice quality system.
Not a fan of the titanium tip look on these cars but they sound decent. If there was a standard monocolor tip like full chrome or black and maybe a single exit bumper kit so it doesn't look so asymmetrical with the dual cutout that would be a nice looking and sounding setup.
I wonder if Tomei plans to release a not burnt blue tip version. I can understand wanting more clean look. I am thinking about adding the Noble muffler cover plate to the right side to make it look more symmetrical aesthetically.
Personally I don't like the look of the overlays myself. I want to do some more cosmetic stuff to my car as well. I am not a huge fan on what has come out so far for VB cosmetic improvements. Still waiting for nicer products to come out.
@@JDMRightHandDrive yeah, I’m not in love with anything yet. I’m worried about the overlays looking cheap but it’s a good temporary thing to give me ideas for what I want to do. Yellow fog lights were an easy one though
The ETS exhaust I had both a resonated mid pipe and muffled exhaust and it was still ridiculously loud with lots of annoying drone. The Noble sounded better and was not as loud. The Tomei is still my favorite sounding exhaust and by far much higher quality building standards too.
Coming from a 5.0 coyote mustang that had roush exhaust, it was loud and it felt awesome between shifts. Don’t remember any drone unless exhaust note was so loud it made it non noticeable. That being said, I slapped some ETS resonated axlebacks and am unhappy with volume. I want to hear the car between shifts myself, don’t care about the people outside(cause it does sound nice outside), what exhaust would you recommend for my 22’ wrx?
What was the set up with the ETS? Were they muffled, or was there a resonator? Curious to know because other people’s videos say the resonator cancels the droning.
Those lights are the JDM Noble DRL light kit I got from Import Image Racing, I did a full install video on them. th-cam.com/video/ZmHHUqyebpY/w-d-xo.html
I really want to like the rally gold wheels, but I’m not a huge fan of them on the VB. Maybe it's because of the yellow calipers? I think those wheels would be a great step up if painted dark gunmetal or black with the yellow calipers. Just my opinion though so don't drag me in the comments. Everyone has a preference.
I agree the gold does clash with the yellow calipers. I have a set of Volk CE28 wheels in gunmetal and they look much nicer contrasting against the yellow Brembo brake. Good comment and thanks for watching. 👍
I never installed the AWE on my car because of so many quality issues, I couldn't recommend it on my channel. From what everyone say who has a VB quad exhaust says they experience more drone. The larger mufflers with single exit don't produce a drone effect. That is what I have experienced with my car and all the different exhaust systems. How do you like that xforce set up? I was thinking a valved exhaust would be fun to have on this car. Quiet when you want and loud when you want to have some fun.
@@JDMRightHandDrive i was looking for something like the tomei for a summer drone free exhaust. I had the same issues with my awe and was a big pain to get a return. The xforce is nice for sure and the price on sale is great. Open valve is almost like straight piped so it has the drone. The valve closed it’s basically like stock. The Noble is noticeably louder compared to the Tomei. The video does not really emphasize the difference. The Tomei is more subtle sounding because of the resonated mid pipe. The ETS was the loudest but didn't sound as clean as the Noble or Tomei. The titanium piping creates a unique note due to how titanium resonates. I will go titanium all the way no matter what brand. It sounds better and its much lighter.
The silencer was included in the box with the Tomei exhaust system. The exhaust system is already so quiet they I threw my silencer away because its not needed IMO.

I don't like the look of the silencer myself as well. I will not be ever putting it back in the muffler. The Tomei is so quiet that I don't think the silencer is even needed.
Yes, I would imagine with the tiny silencer in there it would be too much back pressure for the engine. I definitely would not try and do a hard pull with that in there. Thanks for watching.
I personally have not had the chance to hear it for myself in person. From what I have researched the AWE 180 technology is supposed to eliminate drone.
@JDMRightHandDrive that's what I thought from researching ot before buying but after having it on my car for alil over 6 months the 180 technology works more like a sound cancelation but only if your staying at the same rpm which sorta makes sense cause different rpms you get different freq an needs to bounce same one back to cancel if that makes sense but it's nice cause whenever you use cruise control goes pretty silent also make the cold start quite down faster as soon as rpm sits still even before the exhaust is fully warm an you can tell when it finally starts idling down from sound getting louder again
That's kind of what I was figuring with all the added back pressure. I threw my silencer in the garbage right after making this video. The Tomei sounds perfect and is not too loud.
