I told my husband you were flying to Alaska, first thing he said was " You know what happened the last time they went to Alaska...." loved seeing JJ's reaction to snow and ice :-)
March in Alaska is the start of breakup season Snow, slush on roads, rain and mild weather. The nice tourist weather starts in May.The further north you go the worst it gets.Good luck on your adventure.
Sounds so cool! I personally like breakup time. Never experienced Alaska in winter but have spent the last 64 years experiencing winters & breakup season…the season of joy & hope for drier & longer days
This trip will be just as spectacular as the first time….well maybe not quite, since JJ was an added family member on the way back to the lower 48!! We had planned on RVing to Alaska for our 50th Anniversary this year sometime but with all of the traveling restrictions for Canada we will take a wait and see approach. Since we are full timers we can pick up and go when things ease up. Can’t wait to see your next adventure in Alaska! The first Alaska trip was epic!! So enjoy your videos and your commitment to giving your children a extraordinary education through travel experiences!
I am so glad I came upon your channel. I love watching you guys. I will be going to Alaska at the end of May via a cruise line. My first visit and hopefully my last vacation not in an RV. I am hoping by this time next year I will be selling my home and living in an RV full time. I think the scariest part is possibly doing it alone, but it seems there is a great community out there. Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us.
As a young men in the Coast Guard, I put in for Alaska. My Detailer spelled Valdez, Al this way: NEW YORK CITY! We never asked for a west coast assignment after that. PS: the 3 year tour in NYC was great!!! The reservation situation in Florida sounded a lot like a “Bait and Switch” con.
Never been to Alaska but have watched shows filmed there and videos here on TH-cam and boy, does it look like an amazing place to travel to and see!!!! Can't wait to see your next videos... I'm living curiously through your videos. Thank you!!
We went in early May 2017 and rented a Class C RV. We love it. Can’t wait to go back. The Milepost is an amazing detailed book and app for Alaska. Have an amazing time.
I interviewed to pastor a church in Alaska about 10 years ago. We got down to the final two but they chose the other guy. We had been there before so I kinda knew what it would be like. We're in our late 60s so living there is out but going back to visit is still on the list. My "bucket list" item is to camp in Yellowstone in January. We winter camp!
Born and raised in Georgia, I was stationed in Anchorage for 3 years in the early 90s . I would go back for a visit in summer but I'll never go back in the winter .
I lived in Fairbanks 20 years ago and March really is one of the best months for Alaska! It is filled with hope for Spring, the mama and baby moose would hang out in our yard, and we would cross country ski right on trails in the city besides watching the Aurora.
Glad you winterized. In West TN we had 70... Then 4-6 inches of snow... And gonna be 75 midweek!!!! Looking forward to some epic adventures in the coming vlogs!
What an inspiration. My life right now wouldn't make a great story. That hits in the feels but it's so true and I need to change that. Keep these great videos coming
Hey guys! I saw that you referenced “A million miles in a thousand years.” Have you read his book, “Through painted deserts” about his cross country journey in a VW camper van? If not, I think you’d really enjoy it! Thanks again for sharing your life with all of us!
Woohoo, ya finally got to see our state in the “spring” I’m glad you got to visit. I’ve been hiding in my house being cold!! Lol! But that’s a whole other story. Love seeing y’all enjoy life. Thanks for sharing with us.
I’m with you Nathan! One bag travel? Dream on!! 2 thumbs up for air compressor action. Boy if traveling by RV gave traveling miles Hensley could probably go to Europe. That child has got some serious traveling under her young belt!
No Way! I was in Alaska for the start of the Iditarod! Was there for a week, went on my own dog sled ride! This being my 4th trip to Alaska, was the best one yet!
Sad you couldn’t go to Florida within friends but now your in Alaska. That’s a great place too! Cold but Alaska is beautiful from when I saw your videos. The kids will have fun there. Awesome you have a place to stay at a friends house. Can’t wait to see more videos of what you will be doing in Alaska with your family. Enjoy yourselves have fun. Oh I love that seat plus stroller you used for JJ. That is so cute. Have fun see you all soon! Stay safe.
I'm so jealous. Alaska is the only state I have not been to. I've tried three times to go and something always happened. I finally gave up (temporarily) on my dream of driving the AlCan highway and planned a cruise with friends and you guessed it...Covid. Someday, I WILL make it. Have a great time.!!!
Oooh! Obviously, you’ve come and gone (from Alaska) already. Dang, it’s the main thing I don’t like about video lags. I would’ve loved to just said HI! while you were here. Now I’m wondering if you were here for one of the recent big snow storms or maybe the wild, nearly state-wind wind storm. I hope your family had some awesome, memorable adventures here in my home state! Winter travel here can be challenging, but OH! the scenery! Did you happen to take the AL Railroad “Aurora Train” from Anchorage (or Talkeetna) to Fairbanks? It’s an awesome winter experience. I’ll be watching for your next installment.
We were at Dollywood Friday and it was 70 degrees and by the time we got home it was snowing Hahah you just never know. I love Alaska the winter I did a 6 month travel nurse assignment back a few years ago and now yall have me wanting to go back !!!!
A great video, but a great start of a great chapter in your story! We are planning to go in our RV summer of 2030 after we both have retired. We love everything we have seen about Alaska… especially outside of the cities. Love you guys! P.S. You can still enjoy going into the gift store… just don’t buy anything! LOL
My bucket list is one year in Alaska. Hanging in Arizona boondocking it a friends small Ranch. Heading to Alaska in May for a year. Wife will fly home for holidays. 25 ft 5th wheel. Safe travels. Show Me RV Adventures. C&D
Awesome, love the Adventure. Have fun. If you are crazy then we are two because we went to Tetons in Summer and now want to go back in winter and see it in total different season and do winter activities. same place difference Adventure. makes sense to me.
Wow guys, Alaska in winter! What fun! Ultimately, I think we need to consider if our life's story is about Christ - about loving, glorifying and, enjoying Him, about serving Him and others, and about making Him known.
First one. Yeah!!! I love your videos so much. Visiting Alaska is on my bucket list. Now seeing your blog I really want to go. Thanks so much with your videos are so awesome. Sending many prayers and love to your family.
Antifreeze in the water lines? How do you flush it to drinking water again? We are fulltime and only drink from a Berkey . Hope y’all “enjoy your journey”. We are faithful followers.
ok, sooo, wayyyyy back in the day, there was “name that tune” (a tv game show) and my mom and i could name that tune in one or two notes… she was huge into music and had a band that opened for some big names.. anyway, I just started your video and my guess is the song playing was “ode to joy”. ;-)
Didn’t guess that one. Good for you. As I sit here in very snowy southwestern Ontario, looking longingly at my snow covered RV. I’m planning all my spring/summer/fall adventures. But come winter I’m a total wuss. You inspire me. I will get out. Even if it’s just one night. Winter has been too long. 👋🇨🇦
So excited to watch your Alaska travels! Marissa, would you mind sharing where you got that fantastic green sweater?? It looks like the coziest sweater of all-time.
LOL my thought exactly about the green sweater. Fingers crossed I found the right one on Target’s site. I ordered it and look forward to having it for our RVing.
Nathan, you need to have your pants on. Marissa said there was no going to the souvenir shop. 😁😁. We laughed at that. Alaska seems fun too. We think it would be cool to visit. Don’t know if we will ever make it there. Have fun!
So excited you’re back in Alaska, I absolutely loved your Alaska series and cried along with you when you surprised Nathan with your pregnancy. Hoping maybe FOS has a cameo!! Hope you have an awesome time ❄️
Too many crowds in FL this time of year. Won't have that issue in AK! You gotta shake off the complacency from your normal sometimes. AK seems like a great place to do that! Enjoy y'all. Meanwhile, here in Crossville, Lisa and I are contemplating a visit to see our friends in FL 😂😂
May I offer a suggestion of trying out the Rain Forests of Costa Rica? Beautiful, Amazing Experience, even with children! They will love all the monkeys! Try Peace Lodge at Poas Volcano! Incredible with 7 waterfalls & thousands of hummingbirds everywhere! A slice of heaven!
You might want to check out the rainforest in the Monteverde area. You can get a tee-shirt downtown after a two hour+ drive UP the mountain that says "I survived the drive to Monteverde"! You will end up being very proud of it! But, TWO accredited Rainforest reserves at the top of that mountain area makes it worth it!
Nathan isn't that a bit drastic? Trading the Keys for Anchorage in the winter? At least you won't get sand in odd or unusual places! Didn't Marissa have problems with that bag when you packed for Hawaii?
I told my husband you were flying to Alaska, first thing he said was " You know what happened the last time they went to Alaska...." loved seeing JJ's reaction to snow and ice :-)
😂😂😂
Seeing Judah's reaction to the snow and ice was precious!

God had a different and better plan for you I’m sure. That is a great idea!
So nice to see you go to a cold destination.Your children are such good travelers & Alaska is so beautiful. 🙂🇨🇦👍
We are pumped!
WOW. What a bucket list? What an adventure? Thank you for taking me. Thank you soo much. I felt like I was there with you.
Woohoo! On my bucket list…. So looking forward to watching you all on this journey. What a wonderful experience for your little ones. You guys rock.
Thanks so much! 😊
We choose to go to snow anytime! We love Alaska and glad you've done it in winter. It is truly fabulous.
The army sent me from Phoenix, AZ to Anchorage, Alaska with 4 hrs notice, in October. Very interesting trip.
Born and raised in Georgia, I was stationed in Anchorage for 3 years in the early 90s . I would go back for a visit in summer but I'll never go back in the winter .
I think it is amazing the life/experiences you are giving your children.
I lived in Fairbanks 20 years ago and March really is one of the best months for Alaska! It is filled with hope for Spring, the mama and baby moose would hang out in our yard, and we would cross country ski right on trails in the city besides watching the Aurora.
Smart idea with the luggage carrier made into a stroller. Genius.
Thank you for sharing your out-of-the-box experience. Blessings
Glad you winterized. In West TN we had 70... Then 4-6 inches of snow... And gonna be 75 midweek!!!! Looking forward to some epic adventures in the coming vlogs!
You might should patent and market your idea for the car seat roller for getting thru the airport! Smart! Can’t wait to see what all you do in Alaska!
I love how you all are living life to the fullest! Have the best time!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Totally exciting! Enjoy it and the souvenir shops! 😉😊
😂😂😂
I am so excited for the you and the family! Enjoy your time!

Brave family living their best life. Good for you!
Love the spontaneity of the adventures. I can't wait to see the next video.
What an inspiration. My life right now wouldn't make a great story. That hits in the feels but it's so true and I need to change that. Keep these great videos coming
So glad you found this inspirational! It is easy to get comfortable, but just pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone is so rewarding.
Hey guys! I saw that you referenced “A million miles in a thousand years.” Have you read his book, “Through painted deserts” about his cross country journey in a VW camper van? If not, I think you’d really enjoy it! Thanks again for sharing your life with all of us!
I will check it out, thank you.
Going to Alaska backpacking the end of August 1st week of September, never been so really looking forward to it. Enjoy the road and stay safe.
Sounds great!
What fun! You guys are the sweetest and cutest family! It’s so much fun traveling with you through TH-cam. Until next time.❤️💙
We're just leaving Florida and now I wanna go to Alaska! It's so great that you have friends there that you can visit. Have fun!!

This winter was more frustrating trying to find places to stay so we thought we would go the exact opposite and head north. 😀
You guts are so great…. So fun!!! Love you always!!!
Thank you so much!!
On my list….great job with the kiddos.
The biggest one time snowfall I can remember was March 17th 199? Hopefully that won’t happen again 😊
