    You’ve probably already dealt with the floor scrape, but here’s how to fix them until you can come up with matching flooring. Warm the area enough to soften the edges, pull them back just enough to work some adhesive under the flaps. Press them into place and apply a heavy weight. Let dry overnight. Mix some self-leveling epoxy and fill any voids or gaps. This will leave you with a smooth, level, sweepable surface.

    FYI....the rubber hook on the bike rack that secures the bikes....you know those pesky socks that get lost in the dryer and you are left with no mate.....put that over the hook and it will prevent the rubber from scraping the cross bars on the bike. We have the same set up and had the paint rubbed off before we got the sock idea!

We took it back to the dealer and they were able to smooth it and put some sort of clear epoxy on it. Really can’t see it anymore and it’s held up well for about 4 years now.

    We have a couple of those DASH min-waffle makers and that's the only size waffles we make any more. We started using Bisquick to make our batter and it takes 2:30 per waffle, but they are nice and fluffy and you can add whatever extra flavoring you want to change-it-up each meal. Hopefully they can replace the damaged vinyl without taking up the whole floor. Have a safe and adventurous journey.

  • @leonardmarlborough5587
    @leonardmarlborough5587 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Try heating the vinyl with a hair dryer or heat gun. It makes the vinyl pliable and try smoothing it down. A little glue to hold it down.

    Maiden voyage in our Coachmen Brookstone 326RL....same floor plan as your Solitude....traveling from Temple, TX to Table Rock Lake, MO. Rough interstate roads caused our 40" Flat Panel TV above the fireplace to bounce off it's mount and crash to the floor in front of the fireplace. Needless to say it was a total loss....sure ruined an otherwise beautiful stay in a COE campground on Table Rock Lake. Somehow my wife didn't want to hear "it's all part of the journey"! LOL!

    Yep, small rock got us also in almost the same spot. Turns out that the very popular On Cloud running shoes sole design with a valley down the middle is great at picking up pea size gravel and then dropping them off where you don't want them. Added rock check to the departure list before putting the slides in and checking up under the flooring flaps on our 375RES.

    That is frustrating about the floor, but you didn’t know that something was going to cause it. I know that kind of frustration, a tree branch hit and scratch up the passenger side of my car during a storm over a year ago, and someone with a red vehicle put some more dents right about where that tree hit. Plus others have scratched up my car in various places. How good were the instructions any way? Some suck and don’t explain how to put together something. I was sorry about your new bikes getting marks on them. Hope the rest of your trip goes better.

  • @markfellhauer352
    @markfellhauer352 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    In regards to your bike rack issues: Even though the name of the rack is FulTyme RV Hitch Mount Bike rack, very few hitch mount bike racks are rated to be used on Motorhomes or trailers. This mainly has to do with the distance from the rear axle to the hitch itself. On a car or truck the distance between the rear axle and the bike carrier will probably not exceed 3 feet. Once you get on a motorhome or trailer the axle distance increases significantly and the amount of up and down swing on the rack is much greater. The rack is basically on the end of a long lever, and that multiplies the forces on the rack to a great degree.
    As for the wheel baskets that hold the bike on the rack: You did assemble the rack as shown by the manufacturer. However, I would flip the wheel baskets upside down, because of clearance issues with the rear derailleur on the bikes. Since the wheels are 20" on those bikes, the derailleur is very close to the ground, and with the baskets in the "up" position your derailleurs will be pinched inside the wheel basket. Flipping the wheel basket "down" will prevent that from happening.
    My wife and I have two V1.0 Lectric XP's and haul them behind a Honda Pilot using the very beefy Hollywood Racks Sports Rider SE and that rack is still not rated for Fifth Wheels or Travel Trailers. And I did flip the wheel baskets over so that we won't damage the derailleurs.

    Oh, you poor guys! We recommend you get a bike carrier rated for the back of an RV. My husband uses a torque wrench (required) on the five bolts that stop any movement on ours, and we check it regularly. The backs of RVs whip up and down violently, so very few carriers can handle the torques! Ours is the most expensive Swagman, and Kuat and Thule sell a few, also. Good luck!

    if it makes you two feel any better my wife and I BOTH had that OMG moment with the floor and me being super OCD well the scratched bikes finished off the evening. Floor can be fixed patches at the factory. BTW love the oriental look. Bikes when you get home a good Cookville Autobody shop could touch them up. Maybe Ebike has the decal kits and paint. Now when you get serious toss the Walmart rack and buy American. 1up USA you will never ever be sorry or again fret the bikes getting damaged. However I would have the RV bumper hitch reciever reinforced by your local welding shop. Your daughters face had that oh were did you find this look! Ugh I felt that one! I bought a new to me (Used) 2016 5th wheel in February. One of the things I had to fix was the water running down the slides and under the slide, causing water damage. I couldn't afford the slide awnings right away, so I ended up putting on skis. Well, one of the skis got caught on my flooring and ripped a 1 inch gash on both sides of the ski. I was so sad about it. But, it is what it is. I taped it back down and now it's just a part of the "used" aesthetic. haha.

    I think you've learned why most bike racks aren't travel trailer/5th wheel rated. There needs to be some bike rack manufacturers step up, grow some balls, and make some heavy duty racks. I bought a yakima hanging rack that is rated properly but it sucks. Bikes hard to get on, too close, scratches them, etc.

    Hey old timers..;) Just catching up a bit on traveling friends and see you are fighting a battle I fought when we first hit the road - trying to carry bikes on the back of the 5th wheel. I had 4 regular bikes which probably weighed about the same or more than your eBikes - but no matter what I tried back there to strengthen the rack ultimately failed due to the oscillation/bouncing of the rear of the trailer (even steel winch cable to eyebolts with cable tighteners between the rack and trailer frame). I looked at all the solutions and finally decided I didn't want to risk losing the bikes on the road with traffic behind us - could be ugly. I ended up with a roof rack on the truck. It was expensive (~ $1200.00 IIRC) took work to get the bikes up and down (best way was three of us doing a bike brigade from the ground to the truck roof), but they rode well up there, didn't hear them, didn't affect MPG, etc. It worked out nicely - if we wanted to drive somewhere to go biking we didn't have to move the bikes first. Good luck on your solution!

    Sorry if I misunderstood but the black tank flush should never result in filling fresh tank. I believe the fresh and black tank flush should never have any physical connection for sanitation purposes. Even with a one way check valve between them as these are very prone to failure. If it is filling the fresh tank when you use a black tank flush then this scenario may result in cross contamination so I would check with GD to make sure there is no plumbing errors (??). I am not an expert but and never owned a big trailer(currently have a Passport 239ML) so there may be some designs I am ignorant about but this sounds very wrong IMHO.

They WILL LIVE LONGER IF YOU USE THEM IN THE 25% TO 75% RANGE They DO NOT LIKE 100% except for short periods when you know you need the top rated capacity. So use them down to 25% before charging and stop short of full charge, unless you know you will run the AC for a full 6 hour drive day. CHEERS Steve h.

    Cooling down the rig is a great idea on travel day.If it just ran the last hour of travel that would do it too--right?Will have to try it.BTW,the thing that messed up the floor is a bead off a necklace or bracelet.

    I used to have that same little waffle maker....took FOREVER to cook one waffle. It's cute and small but not worth the time lol I got rid of it!

    Yeah Louisville roads are bad. Next time take the East end Bridge (265) and avoid downtown.

    What is the point of having an RV with a water tank and not carrying water in it for when you need it?

      We have water in the tank but we don't travel long distances with a full tank. It's a lot of weight.

    Yep, we sure appreciated you taking a hit with that bike rack so we don't have to try our month old Aventons on that thing. 😳 Let us know how the new one works out. We are still looking for an appropriate in-stock and NOT ridiculously expensive rack that won't fail with our 49 pound a piece e-bikes bouncing behind the fiver...

    Doesn't your water tank have a drain valve? Just pull it maybe? Oh wait, bet you don't want the ground under the RV wet. My Grand Design Reflection 337RLS does not fill the water tank when I use the flush system. It has a separate connection for the flush.

    Who films the filmers filming the filmers? LOL. OOooh, that's my kind of science, trying to cool down the rig so it's not so hot upon arrival, I Love it. Maybe I do need to have Mike and Leanne install some battle born's in our RV.
