In 2020 at this same location there is actually a small fish bowl on a shelf along the side or the main house and it has a fish swimming around in the water inside of it. The fish is in motion. It is amazing the detail that some artists put into their scenery. There is one airport where 16 working monitors can be seen up in the tower from inside an airplane on the runway. Again, amazing stuff.
7:14 really interesting to hear your thoughts there. I have a 2070 Super, and I have to be really careful which settings I push in order to maintain around 30 FPS. My GPU is nailed on 100% every second I'm flying. I find this sim smoother and more consistent, which helps. But there is so much more potential to come once I can upgrade my hardware. Great video as always!
The update is absolutely disastrous in my opinion: I just learned how to fix the license bug in JF Piper Arrow and enjoyed several flight, but after the patch everything is broken: the cockpit textures i JF Pipers are glitching for some reason, multiple aircraft have issues with lighting including JF Tomahawk, which has its propeller illuminated by ghostly light coming from who knows where… literally so much dissatisfied with the sim in its current state! It’s like I paid Asobo to enjoy the bugs and celebrate each time they fix just a handful of them. Aircraft registration is still completely random, the EFB never saves custom tabs, the loading screen freezes, numerous CTD’s… And despite all that it’s still the best sim out there, even though I can’t fly anything. And of course it’s so good we have you to nag about all this 😅❤
And why do we have to keep re-signing into our Navigraph account every time we launch the simulator?!! Once should have been more than enough. It’s starting to get really old.
Look guys, old FS pro here, been on it since 2002. Age 8. Whenever a new flight sim comes out, you need the STRONGEST computer possible. Their "recommended" specs won't even get you close to what the advertisement looks like. It's unfortunate, but that's just how it is with this game.
On the topic of the sidestick, I think my biggest issue is that it’s on the left side, and I’m used to my right hand steering the aircraft and my left controlling the speed. Yeah, I know, it’s like keeping your left hand on the yoke of a 172, while manipulating the throttle with your right, but I am too used to an x56 Hotas, with a stick designed to fit a right hand and a throttle designed for a left hand. Maybe it would be different if I used a yoke and right-hand throttle quadrant.
Your TrackIR always seems perfect. I've seen several videos on how to set it up properly but I never have enough range (particularly when looking down towards the center console). Would you consider posting your TrackIR profile or doing an instructional on how you set yours up so nicely?
I love the new update, Microsoft really seems to be fixing the game. while they are taking their time I feel in a few more months this game will be "perfect" I hope... At least they fixed it on Xbox for us, plays a lot better looks better more fps and we can finally fly the airliner aircraft which is a win for airline people. As for the Corvallis I tried flying it and just couldn't, I hate how you have so little visibility in the cockpit, the plane feels really "unstable" she rides those air waves like crazy.
Would love to see you review all the new 2024 planes. I purchased 2024 and with all the crashes and bugs I just uninstalled it and decided to give it more time. 2020 still my go to.
I highly recommend the NZA Simulations Milford sounds and the free Milford Sound region pack. One of the best aiports made for FS period, in my biased opinion....:)
Yeah, so many flights i've had to abandon due to bugs, Helicopters are the saving grace right now, minus that ground effect issue landing on elevated pads!
I can confirm for what it's worth the game runs just fine on my i9 rtx 4090 setup ( i managed to nab both the cpu and gfx in sales at the time) even so the latter is on credit but i noticed my old 30 series starting to struggle with a number of newer titles, especially at higher resolutions. So perhaps during the xmas sale you might nab a 40 series for relatively cheaper than they are now, but your right these cards are never cheap. One of the sad realities of PC gaming is technology evolves quickly and as such its one of those you gotta upgrade to keep up at some point, however good point you raised about the minimum / recommended specs, should be playable with at least a stable 30 frames or at best a stable 60 in a sim. Hopefully with any luck y get things ironed out and perhaps a few more optimization patches get dropped. That aside another fabtastic review will think about doing some flights in this aircraft. Don't suppose you have any intel on two of my fav aircraft the grob Tutor and Bulldog mk II training aircraft, reason i asked is i loved those in 2020 (third party) but also those where the aircraft i trained in so hold a special place in my heart.
There wont be any sales for sure, but after Christmas perhaps. I certainly don't have the cash flowing around freely enough to drop on a grand's worth of card out of the blue. The fact is it SHOULD work fine... it just doesn't. As for the bulldog and tutor, no news yet I'm afraid!
I noticed your FPS are extremly low - try "lossless scaling" from the steam store, it only costs 7 bucks and you can frame generate with it trippling your fps without any downsides apart from a tiny input lag that is negligible, I use it when playing 2020 and it mkaes 90 fps out of my 30... its not a joke it actually works...
My fps is fine for 99% of time, just sometimes on takeoff at the moment while im combatting settings. I'd rather not use 3rd party stuff till i get the settings right.
@@AvAngel Sure ok, its worth checking out either way - you basicly tripple your graphics performance for 7 bucks which usually costs 1000$ to upgrade your GPU... I also have the RTX3070 and my 2020 framerate is alright but with 90-120 fps on my high refreshrate monitor its so nice and smooth =) At JFK my framerate would be at 15 fps but with lossless scaling i get a smooth 50ish...
The stuttering on takeoff on your system is strange. I am surprised how smooth my performance is with a 2070 Super and Ryzen 3700, with most settings on high. For bush flying I can even increase my LOD to 200 or better, while I leave it at 100 in more populated areas. Thought about getting a new PC, but at the moment I cannot really justify the cost, when MSFS2024 is running so well on the PC I bought for 2020 four years ago. The only thing that really kills my FPS is the dust effect with some helicopters on the ground.
WRT to all the low FPS comments, my FPS totally tanked after the 1.2.7.0 update and the game is basically unplayable now. It constantly stutters and appears that the AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 frame generation is not injecting frames anymore. It appears as if the sim now is skipping frames instead of injecting them. I reported the issue in a support ticket last night. In v1.1.10.0 I was getting a solid 60 FPS at 4K on High End Setting and the graphics were smooth as butter. I have an AMD 6900XT GPU, 5900X CPU, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. I hope they address this ASAP.

The coolest thing about disable is if you have a third party airport. You can disable the stock one so they don’t conflict.

Interesting aircraft, terrible simulator. The performance is not due to your system, your GPU is powerful enough. It's the software.
