@@dtz1000 The colors are off but that's no fault of the developers, they use the Bing maps data so whatever that is currently is what has to be in the game
Yes, EVERY.TIME. Haha! And it's not like a simple check, my brain needs something very obviously not real in order for me to go "oh, THIS is the real footage" and even then, I check a couple more times just to make sure.
there is one point in the video, for flight sim, where you'll see a mistake in the road that makes it obvious, but yeah! the rest of it I Was like... wait which one is which?
I flew over my house, lol, and I could totally see it!! We live in a rural part of America, but the fact that I could see the house and my barn was awesome.
Yeah I was hoping it would too, but I think it will be aircraft/model dependent. It seems slightly better than 2020 for wing flex in the air but not much from ground vibration
Leaving asido how wonderful it is to have to check and recheck to be sure which is which, what truly amazes me is how well you managed to match both flights. Kudos to you!
Yeah, the place is called Maccarese cemetery and it has lots of very tall trees that look different from the regular nature around it. On Google earth it looks pretty much like the real footage, so I wonder where MFS24 gets its data for these kinds of places
So to complete the illusion, MSFS just needs to add a bit more wing flex, move the camera around randomly (just a tiny bit) and simulate shutter speed on the rotating engine. And that’s it done. And perhaps a bit more road traffic.
What MSFS 2024 really needs to do, which is the same as in 2020, is reduce the size of the trees, they are massively over-sized in the sim footage, and it obscures a lot of the structures and roads. There is a great mod for MSFS 2020 which mods the trees down to a resonably size and the scenery looks SO much more believeable to me.
The graphics and realism are absolutely insane! I can see they collected images from Google Earth or some other satellite source because you can tell the simulation is actually set on a specific season which is different than the real one, and also they're a few years older as you can tell some of the buildings and solar panels are new construction, not present in the simulation. Still, very mind blowing! Your timing is also almost perfect!
that is bananas…..hah, honestly i think the game looks more real than the ‘real life’ if that makes any sense…..the resolution in the game appears higher than the camera used to record the actual footage i think…..whatever…..i can’t wait to get this up and running for myself……like the other guy said, the fact that you have to think about it says it all
The big giveaway for me is the lack of rivets on the front hoop of the engine nacelle on the sim model. Otherwise, I struggled initially to detect anything that didn’t look real.

I love how when landing in Fiumicino, which I have done personally, the airport and runway just appear out of nowhere, just rolling hills and the beautiful Italian countryside😂
Now THIS is the sort of flight sim video that I like. Yes, the colour matching with MSFS is disappointing generally with this sim including sky colour hues and haze realism. For me, that's where OrbX's 'True Earth' addon sceneries come to the fore in XPlane. Now that DOES look a lot closer to the real world and even the XPlane 11 (not 12) latest default clouds can be very realistic under certain weather conditions (but not all).
I think the Flight Sim is recorded with the season set to Winter (i.e. current date). If he'd changed the weather conditions to the same season as the real life video, I think the colour match would have been much closer
It's amazing how close the sim looks to reality, it's only really when coming in lower that the trees somewhat give it away, and even then they're far from unrealistic. Not my type of game but damn that's impressive to watch.
