Currently washing dishes in a restaurant on a foreign country without knowing the language. Still following the dream of being hired on a studio or whatever, modelling in spare times and during the night to improve, learn more, and have a nice portfolio.
    Gotta work hard.

I can totally relate to this. When I was studying my bachelors, I liked to post my works on some 3D groups on Facebook. Although the quality wasn't that good, it was hard work and I wanted to share my achievement in finishing a project to the groups. When I received mockeries, and hate comments, it really took me by surprise, and this has always been one of the reason I lack confidence on my work.. when offered a 3d project, I would easily decline, as I was afraid the client might not be satisfied with the work. A year passed, and I can say I hv improved a lot on 3d. I am still trying to boost my confidence back though. But nowadays, when I see a beginner posting on groups, I would try to acknowledge what I like on their work, no matter what, and give feedback on what they might want to improve on, rather than mock their work.

Well, Mr. Mike, i don't really known you personally, but you've already have a big effort teaching us and that means an enormous effort and will that translates into compassionate love with others. It cames from the heart. Just the simple fact of investing your time teaching, is a great win for you and for us. What's more, the way you teach us is dynamic, directly with the right words. For me it is an example to follow, a Mentor and why not also a friend, even if we don't know personally, with all respect Sr. Please go ahead, here we are to support you.

Thank you Mike You are the best, and Those who started in 3d modeling i can give you one advice which is very important in this field, Dont spend too much time on one model unless its neccesery, model as much as you can then only you will learn, the main thing is timing ,you should practice to do your model in very fast way of possible dont take too much time on single model, coz companies are based on time to time delivery if your work time is slow you will be ignored.

Amen, thank you for making this. Currently Im seeking my degree in 3D Arts and I see this all of the time with students and its really disheartening as it not only can kill a reputation but as well stifle someones potential. Often I watch your videos as support to help further understand materials I may not have fully understood in lecture. Im sure Im not the only student that does this. With that its my hope that others see this and take aways something positive from it. Again Thanks.

I work in the art Industry and there it can be a bit of a completion, because of the insecurity. Then I started to learn animation, but yeah. Mostly older guys that been in the industry long. Never meet people that were so willing to help and so welcoming. Like you Mike. So yeah... This problem often lies with the younger ones, fresh to the industry. It will be allot better, to be friendly and helpful, instead of making everything in to a " Hunger Games " competition. Because, it is not a competition, even if it feels like it. If we all help out one another. Then we can all learn, grow and flourish in to better artists. Thank you Mike, for the Video. Stay safe!

They usually give advices just to belittle you and get you of the track but dont worry about it. What is important is your vision about yourself and self criticism . Just keep up and always have fun everything else will just play along. Thanks for beeing there for us.

People who cant do or wont even try hate seeing anyone else do it or try. It makes them feel bad about themselves and makes them feel big. What i'd tell you folks trying to make it is that if you work your ass off and work smart you'll get there. Anyone who is negative is full of it, do not listen to them. You have to see and follow your dream, no matter what.
For what its worth Mike thanks for what you do. The last four months have been hell for me as my life and family has fallen apart and am now unemployed. Trying to retrain for IT. There is no chance of 3D for me so have to let it go. You guys listen to Mike, hes got a great heart. Take care of yourself and for all of us fallen by the wayside...live the dream.

Great advice. I made tutorials on youtube when there were very little of them and did quite well from it. I made them in a way to explain things rather than just clicking on buttons that people will forget later on - yet a good 10% of the comments were always negative telling me to get on with it, that my voice is *** etc etc. Totally insecure people. I have a tough skin to this stuff and stopped making videos due to time. I teach now and a lot of my students fear making videos because of comments, particularly form the blender community for some reason. Its sad. I deleted over 150 of my tutorials as they were pretty dated, and if I made more I definatly wouldnt let silly comments stop me.

Thank you Mike! Good, youtube is just like reading my mind. I was talking to this guy on fb today. And you know I complimented him on a fine job he's done with his models etc.. So I just wanted to be friendly, like an artist to an artist.. to support him and to network eventually. So I just asked him a couple of things. I've seen his posts in zbrush public group. And well, dude was just so rude and behaved in so condescend way. And just to let you know he has no job in the industry, keeps posting these "finish it yourself" assets on artstation market with some weird comments (no uv'ed, no textured, just a rough modeling). But there are still good designs, there is a great trace of true potential. But maaan, the way he talks.. I could not handle it and just said "ok man, good frigging luck to you with that attitude". One thing is ranting and insulting others, another one is just being a pure a**hole. If I ever see him again on a job market or anywhere else, I will make sure my company will not hire him. Be friendly, be open-minded, team and its emotional wellbeing is the most important thing, no matter how cool modeler you are just be a nice person. It will pay back 100%.

to be honest i did not know that bullies existed among committed artists. i didn't know may be because m a newbie. but as far as i know out of my experience i always had very heart warming people around me every where i posted my work. their comments were with wonderful critics. a place where i can expect a very honest opinion and critics about my works is MH tutorials Facebook group. its amazing there. the environment people there. there are people from experts to newbies like me. but the people in that group will judge your work very honestly and in a very kind way. thanks MH for the wonderful group.

I'm currently almost a doctor but I've been really interested in the world of 3d modelling, in part because of biomedical engineering and also the stuff I saw about prosthetics, also because I like the world of props, professional prop makers and my question here is: is it posible to learn about this and eventually be at least competent at it if I invest my spare time on it?

i am not a freelancer but man............ i always think that would i do good or not. i like what do. i love 3d modeling and want to learn more. i always think that how would i do on job, how would i fit in the groups, in the company....for example i really Struggle UV stuff and without uv you cant texture stuff & my teacher says that you should know how to texture stuff in photoshop...not every company uses substance painter or quixel or 3d coat or whatever.....this morals me down. I struggled to modeling first but i was fortunate enough to find your channel. Modeled lots of stuff and learned many things from your channel. I hope i clear these obstacles and be successful in this. Because i really want to do this and my dream is to work for rockstar company, i grew
up playing their games, gta vice city sanandreas are my childhood.

Daksh The king, I'd start off with simply models to UV unwrap. There are also lots of tutorials on youtube on unwraping. Plus at some of the larger companies they might have a artist that just UV unwraps, and that would mean the modelers may not have to. It's good to have options.

i dont really see bad comments that often on my or anyone elses work. actually i barely get any kind of feed back at all and i ask for a critiques. But because of the people who are too sensitive or the stereotype of artists being too sensitive, i have to make sure to let others know that i do have thick skin and i want to improve so be as harsh as you want.
typically with with critiques, since i am an artist and i do put my heart and soul into every piece, i do feel attacked but its up to me to decide on how long i will feel that way and if i should.same goes for every artist out there. Everyone, artists and hiring managers alike should know its more of a reflex to be defensive than a mind set. SO what I find helpful is one, dont talk if its an in-person critique. absorb the info and listen to everything. Two, be angry, let that anger out, say fuck you, think the other person is wrong, make all the excuses in the world but once you have calmed down reread or think about what you had just heard or read. If you listen first and then be angry instead of being angry and not listen then you will be able to get those hidden frustrations out and still have the info needed to be better. Now when you say someone else is wrong, remember you are just angry or disappointed at yourself so try not to let the other person feel that anger from you or else you will have another situation on your hands lol. Plus its not fair to make others feel bad for being honest when you will get over it before the day ends yourself.
What I want is to squash this stereotype because I have met more artists that put in the work than make excuses. Or like me when I will makes excuses for a second then get to work lol. Plus there is no need to be sensitive. Artists need to make art for themselves. The gaming and movie industry is out of ideas and out of history making titles because their heart is not in it anymore. Yooka Leylee is a great game example. Any movie title that is based on anything from the past for nostalgia is a great movie example.
At the end of the day if you aren't happy with your work then there was no point. No matter how ugly, dumb, silly or immaturely crude my past work is, they all bring a smile to my face. Don't be sensitive about your pile of shit, be proud of your pile of shit because someone somewhere won't see it as shit and will see it the way you see it ... unless you see it as a pile of shit then time get a new career lol.

Hello Mike, first of all thank you for all the tutorials . I have a question that I hope you can answer me. I'm planning to change my computer, the one I use right now... well, it has it's problem. I was wondering , what computer do you have? What processor is the one that is the best? There are a lot of options, but which one do you recommend that is the best option to work with 3D and renders?... That will be all. Thank you. :)

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Daniela, there is not 1 answer to that. It is the combination of elements that makes things work. So let's work backwards...
Videocard : GTX1080 8GB or similar / RAM Min of 16GB, 32 is better but if you can afford 64 ? / CPU : The fastest you can afford. / HDD at the very least 1TB / A decent big monitor ( no smaller than 24inch ) for professional use 2 of them. This is just my personal opinion. You can go from $700 to $70.000 or more

Title and thumbnail had me worried for a moment, thinking it might be ‘stop dreaming, sucker’ or some such (brain is so nice to me sometimes, it’s a work in progress). This is wonderful, though. I just searched ‘3D art tutorial’ which isn’t perhaps the right wording, it’s more drawing 3D on paper which is amazing, but different, and this came up in the first ten videos.
