One of the reasons I liked Data Squad is because it was one if the few digimon seasons where everyone could grow to the highest level, where usually only one or two could (ie Agumon and Gabumon being the only ones to reach their mega levels)

I always imagine that Data Squad's Burst mode theme( this one, not savers) starts playing in any anime I'm watching, and all characters start throwing literally everything they have into a battle.
Shinegreymon defeated Belphemon:Rage Mode one of the 7 Demon Lords that in many media are seen as superior(Rearise,Chronicle X) or equal to the Knights. And he did it quite easily. The other DATS BM defeated Lordknightmon who in Frontier was beating the shit out of MagnaGarurumon who has power transcending that of Ancient Garurumon and Duftmon who is the foremost strategist of the group. Craniummon never overwhelmed ShineGreymon and Masaru through way superior destructive power but through the astonishing defensive capability of Avalon while countering when he got the chance. Once Avalon was gone Craniummon was easy prey. Remember he was pushed back by Shinegreymon BM before Dukemon intervened.
I find it funny how they put some effort into designing the burst mode for shinegreymon and miragegaogamon but rosemon and ravemon literally just get a colour change.
ShineGreymons change wasn't all that substantial either, he just lost his wings and tail and had them replaced with flames and became more red in color. MirageGaogamons change was the most substantial out of the 4 of them.
To be completely fair, Burst mode isn’t its own evolution, so ideally you’d only want to change a couple of things to establish it’s still the same Digimon and not an entirely new evolution all together, but still have them look stronger. ShineGreymon gets slight armour changes, a colour change the gold highlights to red and flaming wings, plus a sword and shield made from fire. MirageGaogamon exchanges the clawed gauntlets for the energy shackle, the cape for energy wings, and gains long white hair. Rosemon swaps her red and green colour scheme to white and pink, and gains the jewels as an extra weapon, plus a size increase. Ravemon swaps around the black and white elements of his armour, takes the red claws and helm, and exchanges black and white wing for two giant purple wings on his arms and feathered armour for his legs, plus a size increase. Plus he looses his sword Subtle changes, I think it’s the weapon upgrades that ShineGreymon and MirageGaogamon get that set them apart from Rosemon and Ravemon. While Rosemon does gain the jewels, they aren’t as visually impressive, and Ravemon just straight up swaps out his sword for razor wings.

This is why Digimon season 5 (Data Squad) is my 2nd favorite season (behind season 1). SO many epic moments! Also this is the only Digimon season where I prefer the English dub version over the Japanese version. I LOVE the dub Digivolution themes in this season over the Japanese one, especially the burst mode theme! :D
I prefer the eng dub rather than original dub actually. How their actors/actress express with their emotion through their voice are so admirable. Oh! And the ost of data squad are so cool
Marcus Damon made Craniamon, a Mega Level Royal Knight, cower in fear behind his shield, and then, with nothing more than his bare first, turned said shield into rubble. If there was ever any proof that Marcus was the most badass protagonist in all of Digimon, this is it.
the simple fact that it will carry an unbreakable shield to that point where at the same time craniumon could only be covering itself is a more than incredible merit
While it's true the shield was greatly weakened, it's also very much canon that Marcus, and his father before him, are pure, undiluted badass, and are basically the only humans on earth with such confidence in their own abilities that they can go toe to toe with Digimon _and win._ Remember that Digimon are strengthened by the emotions of their partner. That always matters no matter who it is, but Marcus and his father are unique in that that isn't just channeled into their partner digimon, they also channel that _offensively,_ directly at whatever Digimon they happen to be trying to punch. Admittedly, this is kinda me bullshitting my way through this, but think about it. The stronger, and more control over his DNA Charge Marcus gets over the series, the further above his weight class he starts punching when he lands a blow on a Digimon. By this point in the series, he's sending Agumon to Shinegreymon Burst Mode on command. Turn that much power into a *punch* instead, and oh lordy, that's one heck of a wallop. And I'll note that connecting it to the DNA charge is important because that also explains why Marcus doesn't just instantly *kill* any human he punches. He's still an incredibly strong and skilled street fighter yes, but the DNA charge connection would only amplify his power against a Digimon.
Craniamon was extremely underrated when i was small. Now i really think he is royal knight material. He defeated the DATS mega easily, in his normal form. With his godly shield, he could defeat Shinegreymon BM and later tanked the most powerful attacks from all four BM megas. I heard his Black digizoid got some special properties that i cant remember.
The Burst Mode not is a Digievolution, is "Mode change". For example, Imperialdramon dragon mode (Attack -, Speed+) ---> Mode Change----> Fighter Mode (Attack+, Speed-). In this situation, the Burst Mode is the same level of Digievolution, but, the digimon have the power in 100% of potential.
