Could I just understand, is it actually worth getting a compact camera if you are just doing normal shots in comparison to say a Pixel/huawei?
Sony RX mk X: going back to mk 1 specs and everything is fine. Back tot he roots and not overpacking this great concept anymore with things most of the buyers will never use.... this Price Level is ridiculous
I still prefer the V over the VI(ND filter, 1.8lens) and the mic port is awesome but aside from vloggimg the V would still be the one I buy If I hadn't one already

Incredible piece of tech, I’ve been looking forward to my first compact. I wish sony would bring back the wider aperture even at the expense of the zoom.
I’ll be getting the g7x mkiii, mostly cause of the price. Hopefully in a couple years I’ll be able to afford an rx100 but 4 figures is a bit much for a pocket compact at the moment.
I just got the a6400 and never owned a camera before.... It's so overwhelming. I don't want to shoot on auto because it totally defeats the purpose of this camera but I'm learning how to use it and will get some bomb ass footage.

Trying to make a decision. A6400 with the 18 to 135 is the same price as the RX100 Vii. Given the same reach, will the A6400 produce much better results than the RX100 VII? Will the Zeiss lens on RX100 VII make a difference?

Sony definitely advancing technology.. Canon definitely throttling/ witholding technology behind a dated paywall tier system..
But the RX100 VII almost twice the price G7X mark III... it's not fair comparison actually... and doesn't have ND filter and not f/1.8, althought the zoom a bit longer... but the stabilization still win G7X... BUT Sony always good in autofocus, while Canon lacks :p Too bad G7X mark III doesn't have dual pixel autofocus :(
G7X Mark III autofocus is worst than my Mark I, I think Canon should fix it via firmware update
Every canon release is completely opposite sony release , sony surprises the customer and gives more than they want , and canon surprises the customer by offering nothing new :)
Canon just has too many models where they always try to not cannibalize sales. Sony knows this Camera won't affect the A-Series sales, because nobody is trying to decide between an RX100 and A7 R IV. If all your cameras have something really unique you can put in features freely without worrying.
They give typically upgrades that make zero difference to 99% of the owners of the previous models. While maintaining the same old gotchas , poor battery life , dreadful ergonomics , poor touchscreen options. I speak as an owner of an RX100V & A7RIII .Can't disagree about your take on Canon :-) This is basically mobile phone marketing
@@jimstirling7223 you forgot that a7riii has better battery life than precious gen and a7riv further improve the ergo. Rx100 mark 7 finally brings the long requested mic jack. Yeah the ergo suck but thats how they make it pocketable. U can use cage by the way. Afaik. All 1" sensor compact cam from sony canon panasonic has terrible battery life due to how small the body.

I wish they'd go back to the f/1.8 at wide angle to f/2.8 at telephoto aperture range. I'd rather have the bigger aperture than the extra zoom. 24mm-70mm was plenty of range for a compact walk around camera.

Honestly, should make a 16-35mm point and shoot and a 35-300mm.

That’s why I’m hanging onto my rx100 mk2 , has better reach than all the others aside from the mk7 but retains at the wide end f1.8 aperture so best of both worlds.
Would prefer the M5 version with a mic jack (that had an ND filter and F1.8). Don’t need that crazy zoom.

Here, he just praised the camera over and over without ever mentioning the mediocre focal lenght/aperture (he did in the comments, in a neutral comment... it's shitty for this kind of camera though, €1300 for an f/4.5 superzoom, 2.8 on the wide end, give me a break.) and of course never mentioning the asinine price point that just makes all his praise useless, today you can buy a TON of full frame mirrorless cameras for that price, even with lens...

There are 1000s of bloggers who have been waiting for a pocket rocket with a mic input.... Now Sony does it on the 7th generation and they charge 1100 for it.... All I'm saying is it they released another mk4 or mk5 with the mic input at half the price... I think a lot more would have sold... If I was sony I'd even refresh the mk4 model with mic input for bloggers on a budget and I bet it would sell like hotcakes

Amazing camera for a pocket size. The only down side aside from the one you've pointed out: I find that there should be a bit more grip on the RX100 range, because although it's nice, small & compact, the slick smooth surface & finish makes it easy to drop/slip from your hand. I also know that a grip exists but that's at an additional expense. It could do with a simple little rubber hold or slight protruding grip to make it easier.... small complain though overall. Cool review Kai!
Vlogging Camera?? With a 24mm focal length (at f/2.8)?? At that price ($1200?), the stupid lens isn't wide enough for an effective vlogging camera unless the viewer truly enjoys seeing a human head literally FILL their entire phone screen, computer monitor or T.V. screen along w/ facial and nose hairs in all their glory to be seen up-close and personal in the shot! UGH, no thanks. Reduce that 24 mil to 16-180mm, NOW we're talking! Hell, I'd be happy with 20mm (but prefer 18mm or better...SONY, ARE YOU LISTENING??)
As an Olympus shooter where every freakin glued part falls apart over time, put a Loctite Super Glue in the bag, solves almost everything!

I appreciate that Sony keeps advancing the RX 100 but I do think the mk3 through mk5 are the sweet spot for bang for your buck.

I want all these nice autofocus things but in the RX10 with the ye olde trusty 24-200mm f2.8 constant aperture zoom and handy dandy internal ND filter, proper headphone and mic 3.5mm jacks to boot. The RX10 Mk2 was really held back by it's autofocus and that's about it

24mm equiv is not really a ''vlogger'' dream focal length though.
Anything between 15 and 18 is amazing!! Its so wide, Its guaranteed that you will be in the shot. You don't even need a flippy screen!
Also the 5 minutes limit on 4K video is really dumb
another vid, I saw a guy change settings on this VII to ignore the heat issue, he said it didn't really get that hot, and he did a 1 hour shoot then the battery ran out.. he was gonna test with a power bank next. Probably a different story in a hot climate though.
@@Pytte Its not about heat (even though the camera can over heat)...the problem is that , it can only take 5min clip at a time.
