I love the RX100 VII but it is essential to add a bracket with finger grip and cold shoes, plus a stick-on 52mm filter thread which enables ND filters or a wide angle lens. With these add-ons the camera becomes awesome. A threaded 52mm filter stick-on is far better than the magnetic version. Too easy for things to get knocked off the magnets - no such problem for screwing the item onto a thread.

I own the older mk4 version and he does have a point. While the range of optical is better than an iPhone 11, unless doing some "real" cinematic work with it, carrying a point and shoot is a pain the in the butt. It's all about using the camera that you have on you now a days.

I think when reviewing these pocket cameras, it's important to test how long it takes to startup/power on. These pocket cams are great but alot of times, the phones are much faster to capture the moment, especially comparing general shots in well lit areas, high end phones (in my opinion) will win hands down in terms of the speed to capture the moment, white balance etc etc.
Glad to know my G7X Mk ii still hangs in there. I miss 120p, but convenience is nice. Always enjoy you and your crew hanging out, even though they left you.
Hi! Im 15 years old, and just starting out with videography. The T7 seems like a very nice starters camera for me to begin with. At the moment I am filming with my crappy €100 Sony Cybershot, the T7 would be a huge upgrade!
Whats funny is 98 percenct of people wont notice if you film on a cinema camera or a iphone, the quality between 120fps and 900fps. Most people watch on their phone tablet or laptop and you will never notice unless your educated in the difference
I'd use the T7 as a Distance Camera for reading whiteboards in school. I have Low Vision in my left eye and blind in my right. Great Content, Potates!!
I actually got the Sony a couple weeks before ordering the iPhone (not realizing I'd be upgrading soon) but I still really love the sony for the zoom and ease of adding a little external mic and the pic quality is above and beyond! But I'm really loving the new 4k front facing phone camera, a lot wider than before and very stable for walking and talking, really helps make the phone a great vlogging camera! I've been working on some videos about both cameras :)

Calvin Hicks you use a micro USB connector. Best to use a separate device for sound like zoom h5. Don't buy this camera. It's over priced and flawed and a pay to use device.check out proper reviews and the app reviews. WiFi connection awful, NFC tag does nothing
@@PixelSheep I really like it. If you are more into filmmaking I would suggest to grab an Alpha with IBIS. It's not THAT necessary though, so if you're on a budget the A6300 will work perfecly.

I have the RX100 mkV and I think that is the sweet spot with this camera. Built in 3 stop ND and a 1.8 to 2.8 Aputure. I’ll take that extra light over 200mm focal length 🙃
Smaller technology, versatile lens, better AF. Muuuuch better photography potential too. Similar low light cuz it's a bsi sensor. Learn before you speak lol. Different cameras for two very different things. Also the bmpcc doesn't include a lens in that base 1200 price and jeeds to be rigged for it to work well.

It’s a unique aspect that can impact the overall quality of a video and enhance creative expression, if used intentionally. Some day I imagine people doing tutorials showing how to get that late 2010’s Sony A7rii look in post.

Tbh I've seen many classes or other likewise stuff for YT filmed on anything like iPhone XS or 11 Pro or something. Indoor shooting with a tripod and a good setup I really don't see much difference between the newer iPhone and a camera. Just if it could help :)
Honestly any modern flagship smartphone will shoot video that just as good in a controlled environment with good lighting. The reason why the quality is bad is probably because of bad lighting, you should master lighting techniques before upgrading your camera. If you are upgrading for better quality, you might as well go all out such as an A7III, A7IV or even A7SIII. If you don’t want to spend full-frame money, then get the A6100, A6400, or a6600 depending on your budget of course. I think interchangeable lens camera will be a better option just in case you want to change up your setup in the future.
Get a Small Rig cage. It will protect the RX from falls and mount a flash shoe to mount the external mic. I use mine this way all the time. I like the Diety mics over the Rode. By the way, the RS-100V (a steal now that it's 2 models old) has a much faster, though shorter, lens.
Always a good video. SO far I am using a pair of M50s that are soemwhere in between the point and shoot and a full frame camera. Doesn't fit in my pocket though

The RX100 is my go to for on the fly RAW stills and I need a video now and don't have my rig. You mentioned using the cell to replace the pocket cam, but the RX one ups my S10, can't make the apple switch yet, too stubborn. Great vid, keep them coming, and actually drop the cam once in a while for durability test!
Phones are absurdly convenient... and I can't make peace with the ways they distort the human face. I mostly take photos of the people I love, and with shots on the phone I don't quite recognize the AI-geometry-corrected faces, so I don't connect emotionally with the images. Point-and-shoot FTW!

The Sony RX100 series of cameras really hold their value too ... I couldn't afford one, so got an HX90v instead .. I like it too. Used it was about $275 here in Saigon. I like ti and use it a lot.
Definitly. Got the 6400 and you get the bigger Sensor, compact Design and my battery lasts about 250 Photos (whole day of Shooting my kid as I am on vacation right now 😎) for compactness, I recommend the canon g7x mkii (not III). Got it too. No need to Upgrade to a new camera. Also keep in mind, that the Sony has the darker lens on, so lowlight will be grainy or muddy in comparsion to an oder Model or the canon with the 1.8 aperture. Imho. Hope i could helped and no, a newer camara cannot override the law of Light physics, so a bigger Sensor always gives a better result!
Nice video dude. Quality of footage looks nice. I like most things about the RX100 range (other than no ND filter).... but, the price... I would say (and you just said it also), stick with your G7X 2, has great colours and ND filter, lovely camera... still today. For £1200/$1200 - buy a Sony a6600 or a6400 and lens if you want pro features.
I still have my RX100 V which has 1.8 to 2.8 and I love it but I always said the day Sony puts out one with a mic I'd get it. Unfortunately it's no longer a 1.8 so I guess it's a tradeoff. I guess I'll have to keep my old one and get the new one for the touch screen, mic and longer zoom. As for adding a filter you can also go with Lensmate but the magnetic one you are using by magfilter looks interesting. Thanks for the great videos!

I still have my RX100 V which has 1.8 to 2.8 and I love it but I always said the day Sony puts out one with a mic I'd get it. Unfortunately it's no longer a 1.8 so I guess it's a tradeoff. I guess I'll have to keep my old one and get the new one for the touch screen, mic and longer zoom. As for adding a filter you can also go with Lensmate but the magnetic one you are using by magfilter looks interesting. Thanks for the great videos!
