    "100 miles is not that far." He really does know his stuff. Loved watching his AT run on Netflix. I'm glad you find it beneficial and it's nice to know that the GoPro can be stored in there. Cheers for the review.

      Thank you and enjoyed the movie as well. Karl Meltzer is now 52 and still competitive running! He's the Speedgoat!

    Nice in-depth review ! I too have been searching for the Goldilocks of running belts!

      Thanks for your kind words and ongoing support. Yeah, we're all looking for the Holy Grail of waist packs. This one comes close with one caveat.

    I'm a vest man over a belt, it's just down to personal preferences. I do have an Inov-8 belt but only use it on the rare occasion. That's a shame about the movement running downhill, maybe because it's unisex it's trying to cover too many bases? 🏃

      Thanks Martin. Karl Meltzer is a minimalist, so the "Speedgoat" likes to travel light. Understand and agree on personal preferences. The loosening of the belt is because the belt buckles don't have "teeth" to prevent slippage on the belt webbing, so they can glide. That makes it easy to adjust on the run (just pull on the strap), but it also means they can come loose.

      @@RunFreeandStrong I have the same issue with my Nathan Vaporkrar belt. I find myself retightening the adjustment straps about every mile, even running roads. Instead of safety pins, do you think there is enough room to sew come Velcro onto the straps to keep them in place? It doesn't really look like there would be from the photos, but I thought I'd ask just in case.

      @@CheeseGrits42 Thanks for the question. There should be sufficient room to sew on Velcro, and the belt straps are long enough. You may have to overlap the straps with the front pocket, which functionally should work but aesthetically may not look great. I have a small frame (5'7", 130 lb, 30" waist) and it's something I'm considering. This is by far the best waist pack I've tried and UltrAspire has improved version 3.0.

    I have been interested in this pack. Looks intriguing for sure!

      The design intent is on the money. Karl wore the 2.0 pack for his AT FKT, and the 3.0 pack incorporates Karl''s feedback from 2,200 miles of testing lol! If you can live with the one callout, then it's an awesome pack.

      @@RunFreeandStrong He wore it at the No Business 100 too.

    I think this was a very well done video. However I hate this belt haha. I’ve tried a couple brands this year and was very hopeful for the speedgoat 3.0. The issue you highlight with the waist straps loosening has been the defining feature of my experience. They need to be readjusted darn near every couple hundred yards and that was with half full bottles and only a cell phone as my carry on items. If not constantly readjusted the belt bounces like crazy and sides down. I agree with your point that for a 90 dollar belt one shouldn’t have to use safety pin hacks. I’m not the skinniest dude but even I have to pull the straps to their absolute tightest before I start my run to get the proper fit, which as I mentioned lasts only for a couple hundred yards anyways before loosening and sliding down. I think I’m giving up on belts and will just stick to that vest life.

      Thanks very much for your kind comment. I've tried a few waist packs, and all have issues, unlike the vests. Should be possible to design and manufacture a waist pack that works! Maybe Speedgoat 4.0 will fix the strap lol.

    I found the bottles very hard to remove. On the upside, definitely won't be losing them mid-run... Do you any suggestions as how to make the bottles easier to remove?

    • @RunFreeandStrong
      @RunFreeandStrong  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Monica, thanks for watching and your question. Pulling the bottles straight up will "lock" them, so I will tilt the bottle slightly towards the back (where the back pocket is located) to "unlock" the bottle before pulling upwards. The belt has to be fairly tight so it doesn't move easily on your waist when pulling the bottle up. Not easy! Hope that helps.

    Were the bottles high enough? I would worry that they would hit my rear ...

      Thanks for your question. The bottle holsters are integrated with the belt, and the bottles extend above the top of the holsters. There is no bounce unlike other bottle belts (particularly those with round bottles). See 7:08 and 7:21 of the video.
