  • I give you my runners review after 100 miles of the Nike Zoom Air Pegasus 37. Its a hulk of a shoe in my size with the original insoles so i soon had those out and some lighter Hoka insoles in their place.
    I examine the upper, midsole, outsole and value of this shoe again after the 100 mile mark. I had issues with the restrictive upper, with low toe box depth, heel slip and some significant discomfort on the top of the foot from the laces.
    Have you worn the pegasus 37 model? How did it shape up? Let me know your opinions down in the comments.

    thank you very much for this excellent review on the Peg 37. I think your review was the harshest one on this shoe online...but you just sound very honest and genuine to me.. hope you will compare this Nike vs the NB 1080V10. I really love the look of this Nike shoe......it is very handsome to me.

    Always love the honest reviews! I’ve had a bit of a different experience with these...as predominantly a trail runner, these are my all-purpose road shoe. I was a bit underwhelmed out of the box; I had some heel slippage and they felt clunky. But they’ve started to break in nicely (or I grew accustomed to them). I feel they’re just protective enough for recovery/easy runs, and when I pick up the tempo a bit that Air pocket gives a nice pop. I do have permanent bruises from the top of the laces though.

  • @Nickswolves
    @Nickswolves 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You’ve had a massively different experience to me - I’ve got narrow feet and have had no issues with lockdown or lacing. The toe box gave a little after a while so maybe sticking with original sole inserts night have helped? I find the shoe perfect for easy days but can also pick up the pace if needed with the air bag under forefoot. Fair play though, you can only share your own honest experience so can’t knock you for that Ed. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

      I stuck with the insoles for 37 miles but the upper bruised my toes and I lost a nail on one foot!

    A few weeks ago I bought the Peg 37's and had to take them back because the guy in the store gave me the wrong size. They didn't have my size so I wound up buying something else (ASICS Noosa Tri 12's and NB Fule Cell Rebel). Really glad things worked out the way they did. The new Noosas are great, loved the Tri 11's and I like having a faster shoe in the NB Rebels. The Peg's didn't excite me but I was keen to try my first pair of Nike running shoes. Anyway, last week I bought the Infinity Reacts and had my first run in them this morning. Really good first impression even though it felt like they'll need a couple of runs to properly break in. Thanks for the reviews!

    As a larger runner (215lbs, 6’2”) I’ve really enjoyed this shoe for the couple runs I’ve taken it on so far. I really feel the air pocket at my weight, and my knees don’t hurt the next day. I really enjoy these for my longer runs. Toe box is currently feeling a little cramped, but hope that it opens up soon.

    I did the same as you Ed, I switched out the insole for some Hoka One One and it fits better with less rubbing on top of the foot. I did try a half size up than my true size but the heel slip is just horrid. Nike are always infamous for their low volume toe box

    Great review! I agree with you: I wasn’t a fan of the upper, the midsole took awhile to break in, and there was a lot of rubber on the outsole. Maybe the 38 will be better? 😅

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey buddy! Yes the upper seemed like it was grabbed straight from the peg 36 shield which was an awful lockdown and also shallow in the toebox. Too much rubber and took too long to break in. Fingers crossed they can improve and go back to a more sensible weight and fit in the 38. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏼🏃🏻‍♂️

    Nice one, “solebrother” 👍🏽
    I continue to be transfixed by the varied responses to these releases. adidas, ASICS and Nike have their respective niche cut out. They must be careful in how they democratize what they each do best. ASICS is still clawing itself back to former glory.
    I consider how difficult a time \\\ had presenting adizero to the masses. I mean, they went completely opposite when creating the max cushioned space other brands took over. They offer so much goodness for those requiring road contact now.
    I wonder how Nike would pull back from the high stack space they mastered. Do they need to do so any time soon?
    ✌🏽🖤🏃🏽‍♂️

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting thoughts Amado, i agree about Nike. No more "mm" to go higher than what they have now. Their push into stack heights has now presented them with a maximum to work within.

    Idgi. We all wanted react in the peg. This is so hard. I haven't used the epic flyknit, but I have the miler. I'm imagining the epic react flyknit is like the miler where the react is way softer.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes much softer in the Infinity Run v1 and 2. Its really weird. Maybe they had to make it tougher to hold the air bag?

  • @joellen5984
    @joellen5984 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tried the Peg 37 in the wide (women) and I did not get on with it at all. The feel was, for me, like a Hoka with that sidewall that sits above your feet inside and it rubbed for me terribly on the medial side under the big toe. I could not get a lockdown on this shoe - I do have narrow heels but my heel would not stay in it regardless of lacing. They felt very long (they were the right length) and shallow. So many better options out there for me - love the Infinity React (no heel slippage whatsoever!) and the Glideride. The Speed are my fast day shoe and I took the Saucony 13 out for its maiden run yesterday and enjoyed it just fine. Too many shoes to keep those that don't work. Nice job Ed!

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    For me European size 44 is true to size, fit is snug but not uncomfortable for an average size footwidth. Break in is longer, about 30-40k for me, after that they felt more comfortable, soft and responsive. The thick rubber underneath makes the shoe suitable for almost all surfaces, includig a bit muddy. They seem durable, with almost no wear and tear after 100K. It's a bit of a plough horse, though a fancy looking

    I have these shoes. I am a runner in 36' on 10km, and I do not see myself running a 10 with, or even a semi: they are not made to go fast. On slow gaits (jogging, EF) up to gaits approaching 4'00 ~ 4'15 per kilo, nickel: good energy return, optimal comfort. But beyond these speeds, we feel constrained at the level of the stride, the sole seems to play more against us than with us, hence a feeling of too much energy expenditure. I wonder what the "Turbo" version of this Pegasus 37 is worth at this level suddenly ... Maybe it is more versatile and therefore quite simply a much better choice.

    See so many conflicting reviews on this shoe. Sounds very much like a "marmite" shoe. I picked some up in the Black Friday sale for £51 so thought it was a no brainer. Seem to fit well and going for my first run tonight. Hopefully I get on with them. I'm just looking for a daily HM trainer with the ability to turn up the pace now and again. I'm retiring my Clifton 7 for these, as the Clifton 7 is shocking for tempo, especially the longer you wear them. Trying to run tempo in the Clifton 7 after 300 miles is like running in sand.

    Can’t disagree with your review here. While I think it’s been “okay”, it’s really been nothing special. I’ve had the same heel slippage issues and the upper is too thick for these southeastern summer days. Seriously, sometimes I’ve felt like I just dipped my feet in a bucket of fire after a run. And you just can’t use thinner socks with these, so I’ve mostly given up on them after only about 50 miles. I’ve got a pair of Clifton 7’s on pre-order do hopefully those fill the gap for my daily trainer.

    Once I had finally worn out my final pair of Turbos - probably my favourite shoe ever - at the end of 2020 and didn't fancy the look of the Tempo Next, I thought I'd go back to the Pegs. I'd worn through quite a few pairs of the older versions and run my first marathon in a pair 5 years ago. I read a few online reviews and having seen them to be mostly positive, I bought a pair. They are just catastrophically bad: hard, unresponsive, and desperately uncomfortable. 3/10 will not be buying another pair.

    I love my Peg 36 and was about to get this but after watching some reviews online...i'm a bit skeptical to get this. Would you say that the Peg 36 is a better shoe than the 37? Thanks and great review as always Edd.

    • @phl0w666
      @phl0w666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fit wise, the 36 is definitely better. The 37 is a very narrow shoe with an upper that doesn't have any give. Add that midfoot band that replaced the flywire and your feet feel very constraint. My midfoot hurt to a point where I had to stop running in them. I cut through the midfoot band in both shoes which relieved the pressure instantly. Ride wise it depends on your preference. If you're a fan of React and heel striker you'll feel right at home. I prefer the lower ground feel of the 36, and its firmer yet protective cushioning. The 37 feels disconnected, and it's only when you pick up the pace that you get response out of the shoe from its airbag. Also, the ride in the 36s is more consistently. No matter where you land you get the same impact sensation. The 37 is squishy in the heel, firm-ish in the forefoot and quite weird through the midfoot where it has a hard time getting transition right.
      That said, after about 100mi I got along much better with the 37s, and have about 160 in them now, but can't really say that I look forward to putting them on. I still have a fresh pair of 36s that I'm eager to run in but hold back for a time when there are no exciting shoes and I'm in need of a trusty workhorse.
