The birthplace of the chopped cheese is Hajji’s Deli in Harlem, where Salah has been managing the joint for the past 15 years. It wasn't this place, but my cousin took me for a chopped cheese once and it's so good. There's nowhere down here that makes it. I might have to see if someplace will do it special for me.

The arab food he’s talking about is called Arayes (عرايس) which is actually kofta (ground meat with parsley and onions and seasoning) grilled in a pita bread.
kofta is good but kifta is way better the one that looks like a bun and has ground beef on the inside

I remember when my friends were shocked that I didn't know what a chopped cheese was so they went out and bought it for me. It's basically a chopped up cheeseburger, but it's so gooooooooood and unhealthy lol. Definitely recommend.

Cadet Bone Spurs Um the ingredients they usually use in any deli or bodega for sandwiches is not good quality. I've been living in NYC my whole life. You don't go to them for a $10 sandwich. The white bread they use are refined carbohydrates and have almost no nutritional value. The cheese is high in cholesterol, sodium, and bad fat. The beef is probably not that great either, but probably the best thing for you out of those three. There's a reason why these sandwiches at most cost $6 and even that's a lot.

Macs2015 My two friends that are a couple were born and raised here since the 80s. They knew what a chopped cheese was and told me about it like 3 or so years ago. What they have in common with this video is that they're both from the Harlem, Inwood area so maybe it's local to that part of Manhattan?
I think it's local to East Harlem. I lived in different parts of NYC my whole life and I only learned about it once I moved there for high school. I don't think I've ever seen it sold below 96th street or in other boroughs.
