- In the competitive world of hot pepper breeding, one man is smoking the competition. Meet “Smokin’” Ed Currie. He’s the man behind the world’s hottest pepper-the “Carolina Reaper.” For the past three decades, Currie has been pushing the limits of the Scoville scale-breeding hotter and hotter peppers. We went behind the scenes at his South Carolina farm, where he’s bred a number of secret, unreleased specimens that he claims are even hotter than his famous Reaper. As a chilihead I can tell you that many, Many people enjoy extremely hot foods... I tend to chill around 250k - 350k... but I've had a buffalo wing that weighed in at around 2-2.5 million Scoville units... all I can say is, "Fuck That!" LOL

The new Carolina Repeaper Chilli, pardon my spelling, is similar clocking in below 2.5. From all the articles I've read, no one has dared orally take it. Not quite true, they still average 1.6 mil. One batch tested 2.2 mil only one time, and that was back in 2013. Even the Moruga Scorpion had a batch test over 2mil back in 2012.
The “hotter peppers” he has yet to release are Pepper X, with an estimated 3 mil units, but since he has never really sent em out there is very little to back the claim up, I actually own a hot ones hot sauce that contains pepper X, but in my (and most people’s) opinion, extract sauce is WAY worse, even when it has a very low unit
