It's probably my favorite jrpg of all time too. I think it has such a strong impact on me not just because of the great art style, music and the way recruiting the characters upgraded your base but plot elements like false flag attacks, massacring civilians, war refugees and seditious traitors in positions of power within governments being a weakness that more diverse open societies have compared to a smaller but highly unified militant society... These were the first time I was introduced to these concepts as a kid.

I loved the suikoden series so much, I've been working on reobtaining the first 5 and I'm only one game off so far but I even got some of the true runes as tattoos 😅
Suikoden 2. Man i once in tears that i got a chance to play it again. The story line, the choice of ending. Superb. Better than most of FF franchise. I said it.
I am sorry I didn’t get the chance to play the first Suikoden, I started on the second and play all up to suikoden 5. I feel like this series seriously needs to come back, todays JRPG and RPG are lacking good story and adventurous feels for their games.
It's a real shame that this series doesnt get more limelight like final fantasy. with the exception of Suikoden 4, all the games were pretty damn good. So i assume they just did a very poor job marketing these games. I don't ever recall a single suikoden commercial.
It's a bug shame because I really like Suikoden, what I've played of it. I found 3 and 4 in a pawn shop, and decided to play 4; it got me hooked. I found the strategy guide for it, and made it through; all 108 stars, but then I couldn't find one for 3, as it was never made in English, so I didn't play that one; strategy guides were sort of a staple for me, at the time, and I didn't want to read across five sites online. 2 was unavailable, so I accepted 3 and 4, but then I found 5 st the same shop, and snatched it up; guide and all. It was great. My only real complaints were you couldn't eventually get elemental cannon for ship battles, and you needed to get back to the field to port around. I later got Tierkries, and liked it, but it was too complicated for me to finish. I love some of the characters, especially some that reappear across games, though maybe not ones everyone else likes. Viki is my favorite; she's cute, adorable, innocent, can fight, and provides a service I value. I was so glad Jeane was playable in 4 and 5, for several of the same reasons. They're just fun games, and I wish they would make another, with the party building, base building, and world building. I almost wish the creator would Kickstarter it, like Mighty No.9, though I might fear the same result. Oh well, if I can't have another, at least I have the memories, and working consoles to play 3, 4, 5, and Tierkries, while I downloaded 2 on PS4, so I really can play whenever I want, I guess.
Great video! Really made me want to play some of the games now! The only one I've played is the DS game! They seem pretty hard to find in the UK! :( ... BTW I would LOVE a new Parodius game!
Thanks man, yeah you should totally check them out, though I don’t know if it’d be wise to sink that many hours into an RPG right now as I’m sure your backlog is just as big as mine!
Still top 5 games ever made, 1 of my best accomplishments getting all 108 stars, I didn’t know my Suikoden 2 was worth that much!!! I’m gonna have to look at what my Suikoden sells for
There are still too many mysteries: - Not all 27 true runes have been revealed - What is going on between Yuber and Pesmerga? They are obviously sworn enemies - How come Jeane appears in all series? - I don't think Suikoden world have been revealed entirely, i heard about Gaien, Kanakan, Nagarea, Northern Outland, etc - Rowd and Leon Silverberg of Suiko II is still at large I really hope Suikoden series is continued, not just remade or remastered
I bought both Suikoden 1 & 2 on psn during a sale a couple of years back and have them installed on my Vita ready to go. Guess it's time I jump in to start playing them. Always heard good things about the first two in particular. Great video man! It's always sad to see a once great series die out. I wish that one day Sony would release a new Wild Arms game or even a successor to Legend of Dragoon but sadly, deep down I know that we will probably never see that day come to pass 😔.
Everyone should support Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. Heck, right now you can buy Eiyuden Chronicle Rising for $15. Great little side game to build up for the main game in 2023.
I stumbled upon suikoden 1 when it was first released and loved it although i have never played a JRPG before that point. I just got done with my ~50th play through of suikoden 2 and I'm left wanting more.. Its just a wish but I really hope a mother series revival does happen at some point in the future I can wait how ever long it takes.

S4 was the first game in the series I played. It was super difficult as a kid to beat. But it still gave me joy and it’s memory brought me to your video! Edit: another rpg I wished Konami bring back is Ring of Red! I’d throw away pes or efootball in a heartbeat for that to happen. Konami’s misjudgement really hurt them and their fans like me.
I have all six titles that I know of. 2,1&5,3&tactics, then 4. The opening of suiko was always the best! I am right at the end of tactics and have to 100% 5, then I can die fulfilled.
I'm not a gamer.. BUT I have about 4 games I loved to play when I was younger. 1. Tetris Attack, 2. Suikoden, 3. Jade Cacoon, 4. Harvest Moon. I watched and poked around at all sorts of video games my older brothers played but those 4 are the ones that drew me in. I have considered getting a twitch account and streaming the 1st and 2nd Suikodens for fun. But I'm sure it would make my antique computer explode lol.
Lol I always pronounced it as Suekoden. The first one literally got me into rpgs and video games in general (1997). I was at a friend's house and noticed a brick of a game and asked to borrow and the rest is history. P.s. 4 was awesome!
I am wondering something...... Given Sega's Pachinko numbers are abysmal right now, you think Konami's are too? Oh, as for games, you do Breath of Fire yet?
@@PressStartToContinueYT It's not even JUST their pachinko business, they got other businesses.....alot of which involve going out of the house, like Gyms.
I feel the problem with Konami is how Society has been trained to want a quick dopamine hit, whether it be through Snapchatting, Twitter responses, text messaging, Tik-Tok etc etc, people have grown numb and are unable to fully enjoy that dopamine hit that takes time to earn. They just want that quick game of a MOBA, FPS, Battle Royale, Among Us, etc, they don't want to just sit back and enjoy a built up slow pace to earn that dopamine, they want the hit now and sadly Konami is reacting to that market which is why they focus on things that give a quick dopamine hit and can earn them a lot of money over making what one could call a piece of art that can be appreciated for longer.
Eiyuden Chronicles is literally the next step for Suikoden. No one was able, or will be able to take Suiko back to its roots like its original creators, who are at the helm of Eiyuden.
I did really like 5. I could understand why people didn't like it though. So much loading, the pace is slow, the interface is not the best looking. But despite so much of these failings, I still consider it one of my top rpgs of the PS2. To me, that means the base recipe of Suikoden is that good. Sure, not all 108 people are gonna be useful - but they fit somewhere in the world, somehow. Its the immersion, the exploration, the little details here and there. Hell, I still play 5. After a while, I just kept a save at a certain point of the game when it gets interesting and use that to "start" a new playthru. Just so I don't have to go through the slow start again and again.
Well, I'm commenting nearly two years later, but I'm definitely still a fan and miss the series. S1 is my favorite for nostalgia reasons, but objectively, S2 is probably the best in terms of story and gameplay. And even though I loved S5, I would probably rank it after S3 due to the unique storytelling with multiple viewpoints (and having the guts to kill off a fan favorite after making him the bad guy!). I don't hate S4, but I'm not thrilled with how Konami handled it - for me, their pitch of the game did not match expectations, and it seemed to be half a game being sold at full price (the other half being Suikoden Tactics, which I did enjoy, and whose soundtrack is criminally underrated). Tierkreis was good but felt too disconnected from the series. I watched someone play the Gaidens but I enjoyed what I saw. Can't comment on Woven Web or the Card Stories as I haven't played/watched. I agree that Konami should do some remakes or at least port the series to other platforms. Younger/newer fans are receptive to a lot of things... wouldn't it be great if the Suikoden series gained a bigger audience? A couple of weeks ago, I played the Eiyuden Chronicle prequel, Rising, which doesn't quite feel Suikodenish but I'm optimistic for this new series.
Suikoden II and Breath of Fire were the best JRPGs that I played on PS1. Konami should atleast give credits to Suikoden II and make a remake or remastered of the game. There are still a lot of us waiting.
For God Sake Eyuden Chronicles: a hundred Heros will be came in 2023..i hope its like suikoden 6...without the 27 True Runes. I loveed the Battle at War, the Duels, the Searching for the 101 Stars if D. , the Details and the Awesome Music .greetz from.Germany
Love the series, and definitely Suikoden 2 is not only favorite Suikoden, but also one of my favorite games overall. That said, Suikoden V to me is the second best in the series (and a very close second).
The Suikoden series is one of my favorite video game series ever, and I was pining for another game for years and years after V. But I don't care anymore now that we're getting Eiyuden Chronicle. Should be everything we want from a new Suikoden game, and f*ck Konami.
I enjoyed them all even 4. Suikoden 2 is my favorite because it was the very first game I completed in my life and aside from that , it's really great especially the story :) 5 was great too and 3 was unique. 4 has great characters. I've played the visual novels just a few months ago. I wonder if it's worth playing the tactics, Tiekries and the PSP game.
i liked tactics so i'd say yes. you should look into eiyuden hundred heroes. It's as similar to Suikoden as Bloodstained is to Castlevania SOTN. It has several of the original Suikoden crew working on it. A prequel is out right now but its more of a side scrolling rpg.
Suikoden 2’s story blew me away when I was younger, crazy how I can still remember most of it over 2 decades later.
I have my original copy. It's my favorite game ever. I've played it so many times

Honestly i didnt even see the suikoden 4 here in my country.. and when i played 5 i was so bored and cringed so much... but i really love the concept of creating your own city improving every time you recruit a character and the army battles
Love this game. Always wonder about it time to time. Finally, we’re getting a remastered.
Suikoden V was awesome
Konami has no guts tbh, Square Enix showed that JRPGs can be successful even today
Fun fact, originally released by KOEI as Bandit Kings of Ancient China for PC
@Press Start to Continue you seen that Konami is now remastering Suikoden 1 and 2 for HD remaster? I think theres now hopes for a Suikoden 6 is this remaster collection sells well
I didnt know about Suikoden until hearing about the Sara Saga 😆
I wished this series come back. I love part 3
I loved the suikoden series so much, I've been working on reobtaining the first 5 and I'm only one game off so far but I even got some of the true runes as tattoos 😅
it's being rereleased and vamped up.
Suikoden 2. Man i once in tears that i got a chance to play it again. The story line, the choice of ending. Superb. Better than most of FF franchise. I said it.
I am sorry I didn’t get the chance to play the first Suikoden, I started on the second and play all up to suikoden 5. I feel like this series seriously needs to come back, todays JRPG and RPG are lacking good story and adventurous feels for their games.
if you have a ps3 you can buy a digital version for $10, while the store still works anyways. PSP or vita may have it as well
1 and 2 are tru masterpices. i saw 1 in store along with Vagrant story and never had heard of them bevore. bought them blind and was stunned.
Suikoden V is honestly my favorite in the series, hopefully 3 and 5 get the 1 and 2 remake treatment.
Bought my Suikoden 2 for $30. Love my collection of Suikoden.
I’m gonna have to look at what my Suikoden sells for
There are still too many mysteries:
- Not all 27 true runes have been revealed
- What is going on between Yuber and Pesmerga? They are obviously sworn enemies
- How come Jeane appears in all series?
- I don't think Suikoden world have been revealed entirely, i heard about Gaien, Kanakan, Nagarea, Northern Outland, etc
- Rowd and Leon Silverberg of Suiko II is still at large
I really hope Suikoden series is continued, not just remade or remastered
I bought both Suikoden 1 & 2 on psn during a sale a couple of years back and have them installed on my Vita ready to go. Guess it's time I jump in to start playing them. Always heard good things about the first two in particular.
Great video man! It's always sad to see a once great series die out. I wish that one day Sony would release a new Wild Arms game or even a successor to Legend of Dragoon but sadly, deep down I know that we will probably never see that day come to pass 😔.
Wild Arms would be a great series to cover! Thanks again for watching 😃
Suikoden 1's soundtrack is by FAR the best in the series
Everyone should support Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. Heck, right now you can buy Eiyuden Chronicle Rising for $15. Great little side game to build up for the main game in 2023.
I miss the characters in suikoden 1 n 2!! It’s like they been through together with me in life! Com on, hope they release the suikoden anime!!!
Suikoden 2 was my first rpg that i play when i was 10 (2007),at that time i have difficulty to understand the story bcos i am not native english speaker but it make my english improve from time to time ...ghahaha still remembered at that time we didt have internet so we use dictionary to translate some simple word
My all time favorite series!
Oh man, I totally forgot about that game!
I have all six titles that I know of.
2,1&5,3&tactics, then 4. The opening of suiko was always the best! I am right at the end of tactics and have to 100% 5, then I can die fulfilled.
I would love to hear a run down on Legend of Dragoon. It's so strange. That game is a cult classic but it never had a sequel or remaster or anything
If i get to play suikoden 2 again im 100% sure i still remember all 108 stars and what i need to do to select which ending to get ❤️
Its sad because I really liked the last one they did.
We don't need a remake. Just please PORT these games to modern consoles!
I don't doubt it, they've got to be suffering. And no, haven't done breath of fire, interesting idea though!
Wishing someone would remake this game...I love to play this game and I will love to play this game again :)
Sui 1 and 2will be remastered. Coming out on steam in 2023. Enjoy it.
Eiyuden Chronicles is literally the next step for Suikoden. No one was able, or will be able to take Suiko back to its roots like its original creators, who are at the helm of Eiyuden.
Nothing can be compared to suikoden 2 but i hope they release suikoden 6 .. really miss playing this game
Awesome channel =D
i think the new title **Eiyuden Chronicle 2022 coming soon** from same developers another 100 recruitable Allies
Suikoden II and Breath of Fire were the best JRPGs that I played on PS1. Konami should atleast give credits to Suikoden II and make a remake or remastered of the game. There are still a lot of us waiting.
HD REMASTER HAPPEN BABY !!
My Favorite All-Time JRPG: Suikuden 2 & 5, Chronocross, Final Fantasy X, and Legend of Legaia).
I never thought that I will ever hear that game again. Legend of Legaia. love that game
Suikoden 2 ist hands down the best JRPG ever made. I really hope that Eiyuden Chronicle will be like Suikoden 2
looks like it might be!
I've never heard of this game before now. Very interesting history here.
Thanks for watching!
Remaster or remake of this series or silent hill is one of the only chances konami have to not going under I guess
Suikoden is now being made for the PS4 and PS4 under the name Eiyuden Chronicle Yesss! ) i love suikoden 5, followed by 1, then 2 and 3 & 4
being made for ps5 and ps4
Suikoden 2 made my youth colorful
The Suikoden series is one of my favorite video game series ever, and I was pining for another game for years and years after V. But I don't care anymore now that we're getting Eiyuden Chronicle. Should be everything we want from a new Suikoden game, and f*ck Konami.
I enjoyed them all even 4. Suikoden 2 is my favorite because it was the very first game I completed in my life and aside from that , it's really great especially the story :)
5 was great too and 3 was unique.
@@Necrowolf81 I backed Eiyuden :D
Haven't bought the companion game though.
I loved suikoden 1 & 2!
I always wanted to play this.
You’ve GOT to
