    My biggest gripe with IV was the downsizing of your party from 6 to 4. With so many characters to recruit, why would you shrink the pary size?

    Suikoden I: Its short length
    Suikoden II: The terrible translation
    Suikoden III: That it never came out in Europe until much later so I could not play it 😒
    Suikoden IV: The terrible ocean travel and half-finished story
    Suikoden Tactics: The godawful NPC designs and the weird plot centered around people turning into fish monsters. What the fuck.
    Suikoden V: The slow-paced intro and large number of permanent missable characters

    I love the entire series and all points were pretty darn accurate. My first reaction to S4 was similar, but I then went down the rabbit hole of gear and making everyone overpowered via NG+. IMO that's what made it a playable and fun entry for me.

    1 has some encounter issues and the slow walking speed can be less enjoyable.
    For 2 personally the story after luca defeat just took a nose dive, and the major battle system feels weird.
    For 3 I got almost no positives and dont understand why people rate it so highly as combat, castle and storylines just bricked the fun in the suikoden line for me.
    4 main problem was traveling for me and smaller party.
    Kinda same as 4 as 5 when it comes to travelling but for the a great game.

      Bad castle, bad combat, bad story multiple storylines in this format doesn't help at all, recruiting feels pointless due multiple parties, major battles feel bad to do.
      The game doesn't come together for me making it the worst game in series for me.
      I would love to see a more indepth story about Luc becoming free of the true rune curse by uniting the lands to get a counter force against his brother, to end in the final battle that he has with the elemental monster in the of the game.

    • @missingLEGACY
      @missingLEGACY ปีที่แล้ว

      @@665kanata I don't feel 3's graphics were bad, they just chose a 3D style that emulated the anime style of the first two games, and it's kind of off-putting to some. (Similar to the cartoony art style of the legend of Zelda, wind waker.) But in the case of four, the character designs were bland, the movement was really janky, and the facial expressions were almost non-existent. Not to mention how they dumbed down all of the rune animations, which looked spectacular in 3. I respect your opinion on this, but I can't say that I agree.

    • @zacharyessey5904
      @zacharyessey5904 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that IV has the best graphics for the 3D entries and the voice acting is great. There was a data transfer for Suikoden Tactics and there were still plenty of unite attacks, just not as many can be done at once which isn't really that bad as do you need everyone to be doing it at once every time? I agree about the magic animation and four person party though.

    I wanted to enjoy Suikoden 1 from every cardiac fiber of my heart, but the game is just so ugly , especially the portraits which looked so washed out that I couldn't force myself to care about the characters despite how much I tried. I know I shouldn't judge a game by how it looks , but in this case the appearance was so unappealing for me that I couldn't look past it
    Everything else about the series is stellar in my eyes, even Suikoden 3 with it's 3d graphics.

    • @blastfromthepastgaming
      @blastfromthepastgaming ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. The first Suikoden just wasn't up to par with its character portrait and sprite game, compared to other titles from its time in 1995. Suikoden 2, however, made massive improvements in this aspect (one of the best sprite art & character portraits ever imo). A remaster for the first Suikoden is very much needed and I'm excited for it!

    The game looks good though nice jrpg but many would not want to play because of the graphics mostly. People now a days want remade of the game on new console but that just drop the value and the rarenest of the game.

    • @blastfromthepastgaming
      @blastfromthepastgaming ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Understandable! but many older games have not been released on modern platforms, so a lot of people play them using emulators that crank up the game's graphics and frame rates to the maximum, in addition to other quality-of-life improvements.

  • @trailersfromhell2539
    @trailersfromhell2539 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some of the faults of #1 can be forgiven simply by being the first game. The inventory and equippment issues were thankfully fixed in the sequels. The encounter rates are fixable with the champion rune, but that's not always easy to get. It's a life saver in #4 when you travel the ocean. Gameplaywise, what i found most annoying in #1 was that McDohl could not run, but that will be adressed in the remaster. One funny flaw in #1 was that you could finance the entire liberation army with Gaspar's dice game. The main issue i had with #1 was storyline. Odessa dies too early. Barbarossa only appears 3 times, despite being a major and complex antagonist. Several of the characters, especially the generals, lack a more comprehensive backstory and first appears when you first engage in battle. The dynamic between Mathiu and Leon silverberg seemed lackluster. You don't see the storyline development from the Scarlet Moon Empire perspective as the story unfolds. Especially with Teo McDohl, being a father and general. #5 did quite a good job with this. There's also the issue about the HQ being awkwardly located in the ocean.

      I believe the Black Sword Rune has impacted his decision-making process. As we have learned throughout the games, true runes have the power to alter or greatly influence a person's thoughts and decisions (many to mention)
      And The Bright Shield Rune and Black Sword Rune has the nature to fight against each other, just like the past bearers who are close friends as well, such as Genkaku and Han Cunningham.
