      Dear our Father in Heaven, I pray for this person and anyone struggling with loneliness. I pray to God for everyone's comfort. You are the God of all comfort (II Corinthians 1:3). You know how lonely we are on this earth. Please help us set our hearts on things above and seek You with all our hearts. Please help us see our singleness from Your perspective, not the world's. Please protect our hearts. Please help us trust in You and praise You even when our souls are downcast (Psalm 42:5,11). Please help us trust in Your provision and timing because Your ways are higher than ours, and Your thoughts are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). Please be with us and have mercy on us. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so that we can establish a relationship with You (Romans 5:10). I pray in the mighty Name of Jesus, our Saviour, Amen.

    Amen! Preach! I'm 28 and single and I want to get married (preferably sooner than later haha). But God has taught me so much over the last two years that I wouldn't have learned had I been in a relationship and I am so incredibly grateful for it. I still want to be married though and sometimes it's hard being single, especially when your social media feed is full of engagement, wedding, and baby photos...😂
    I 100% agree with everything in your video. Loved it so much!! Thank you for always being so real and genuine and not giving the typical "christianese" advice.

    Ahhhhh Thank you!!!! I'm turning 25 in 6 hours, and I've ALWAYS wanted to be about to get married by the time I was 25, and unless God does the "It's Raining Men! Hallelujah! Here's yours!" (it is about to rain, so who knows! hahaha) I will definitely not be getting married any time soon. I've always struggled with being single. I have been in two different relationships for much longer than I should have because of it. But, I think the lesson I have finally learned is that it is better to be single than in a relationship that hurts you and doesn't bring you closer to God. This video really resonated with me. And, as you said, the time of singleness is really bringing me closer to Him and I am developing a relationship with Him and focusing on me and healing, and I know that if God has marriage written in my journey that I will be grateful for this time. And maybe soon, I'll feel like dating.

      I'm so glad you enjoyed this! For years I felt like it was wrong to acknowledge the hard parts of singleness. But I've finally realized, that's not wrong at all! It's actually healthy and important. It was so interesting, last night we were with an older couple from our church and talking about this, and they said, "It's funny because years ago, no one expected you to be happy all the time in your Christian life. They just expected you would let God work on your heart. But now, because of our culture, we have this expectation that we should always be happy during it too." I thought that was so insightful!

    For months I wasn't content with being single, but I am so happy with where I am right now. When non-believers in lecture halls and seminars followed me and would sit with me, I got scared. Seeing how dating them would not further my relationship with God, I am happy to serve my Father without any distractions. At my job, all of the co-workers except two were in a relationship, and I felt like I could not relate in any way. But there are so many perks to being single, and I am grateful for this season for sure!

    This might be one of the best videos I've ever seen about being a single Christian girl. I'm only 24, but I've struggled SO much being single. And I've felt so much shame and guilt because I believed I wasn't thankful to God enough for the season He has me in. So, because of that, I was scared to bring it to God. Unfortunately, I've been taught, as SO. MANY. GIRLS to "kiss dating goodbye". My mom had me believing that a simple coffee date meant I was considering marrying this guy. And that scared the living crap out of me. I just found you and shall continue binging on you!

    Good video! Nice perspective!
    I’m 26 still single and never really had a serious relationship; but I’m not sad for being single. I love the independence it brings. I’m good with being by myself. So I can say that I’m not sad for being single. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I get crap for it all the time. “Why are you single?” And “Are you sure you’re not gay?” Yadda yadda. Answers: One, I’m single because I want to be, and I haven’t found anyone remotely interesting enough to date. And two, I’m not gay, that’s your thought. I very much love guys and am attracted to them. Buzz off.
    However, I do have concerns. Should I be concerned that I’m not bothered by the idea of being single, or possibly of never getting married? I’m at the point that I shrug at the idea of marriage. It happens or it doesn’t, I’m down for it. It’s not like my utmost goal to find a guy or to even date. Which may or may not be a healthy mentality?
    You could say that I have some trust issues when it comes to guys, by seeing it in other relationships around me.
    I can be really difficult. *sighs*

    • @nicholasrandall3507
      @nicholasrandall3507 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was very good advice. It was great to hear in a different perspective. I'd never thought about the fact that it's okay to be sad. It's okay to admit that you really want to be in a relationship. You don't have to pretend that you always want to be single. But it's saying "yeah, I am sad, but that's okay. I'm not letting that get in the way of my life". I'd never seen it put like that before. Great video!

    So.... it's actually "ok" to say visit another church.... just to hopefully meet a potential spouse (wife in my case)?😅 There's a real "taboo" about going to church just to look for a spouse- after all you should be going to hear and receive the Word of God. But I've always wondered: what if there are no prospects in my own church?? Where/how would I meet prospects who hopefully share similar belief and worldviews that I do?Can't go to the bar/club for that 😏... so then where?
    I still feel "guilty" or hypocritical for wanting to visit another church "just for that"; but your example of when you went to other churches and bible studies got me thinking....

    the hardest question God has asked me is, " are you a Ruth worthy of a Boaz?" i was angry i was still single and God yanked a knot in my chain and said i needed to be someone who someone would want to be with. i was so focused on my desire for companionship that i had never considered doing any self maintenance. Also thanks for addressing that it's OK not to like it, just because you have things in your life doesn't mean you have to or even should like it. Job lost everything and was sitting in the ash pile feeling sorry for himself, yet God still called him a beloved.

    Thank you for this! and thank you for giving advice about how is it ok to meet guys while you're waiting for the right person. I'm 22 and haven't had any relationship yet. I know I'm young and shouldn't get worried about it but the thought just hit me like I plan to get married at 35. I really want to wait for the right person so I made a deal with myself that my first boyfriend will be my last and because I'm working on my goals and dreams right now, it will take me a long time to get into a serious relationship. But my dilemma is that what if I met my first bf at my late 20s or I am nearing 35 and then he's not the one simply because I didnt try meeting alot of guys and just have an experience about dating. That kind of bug me really. And I felt like if I go out without the intention of getting married, I felt like I am sinning to God. But yeah I guess I'll just go with the flow.

    I'm not sure why your videos are showing up as recommended for me, but I appreciate the more balanced approach that you take towards relationships.
    I'm a 54 year old man who was in the church in my late teens and twenties. There was a hard push towards not pursuing relationships and "waiting on God" even as a guy. They'd often wrap that kind of stuff in words to mask the passivity that they were trying to preach. They'd talk about "all that Christ had done for us and how we shouldn't be so stuck on having earthly relationships." They'd give an alter call, and guys and girls would go crying down the aisle to say how they weren't giving enough to God and so on and so on. However, by Wednesday, the guys would ask for a phone number if they met a girl that they liked. By Thursday, the girls would give him the number. I wasn't one for going down the aisle, but I really did try to make myself focus on not pursuing relationships. Even when I did try to pursue them, that teaching caused me to be much less self-confident in my approach. As I look back, I realize that the church was "about half full of crap" in all of its teaching on relationships. The only reason that there wasn't more damage is that most young people were only halfway listening.
    When I was about twenty-one or twenty-two, I was talking to some older friends before whom I was trying to be a witness. They first asked about a mutual friend who was in his late 40's and had never married. We all knew that being single was bad for him. We all knew that singleness had become toxic to him, and they asked why God hadn't provided a wife for him. All I could say was that I didn't know. They then turned to me and said that they felt that I had a strong longing for a relationship if not immediately for a wife until I finished college and grad school. They asked why God hadn't provided a relationship for me. I told them that I didn't have an answer for that one either but that God had met my needs. God hadn't met my desires, but He had met my needs.
    As I passed my late 20's and into my early 30's, things changed. I reached a point where I couldn't have honestly told my friends that God had met my needs. Not only could I not say that to my friends, I couldn't look myself in the mirror and say that God had met my needs, and I couldn't go to God in prayer and say that He had met my needs. Singleness became so toxic that it destroyed me. I eventually quit church and haven't returned in over twenty years.
    At this point, my health has failed, and I wouldn't be able to sustain a relationship anyway. I don't know what's ahead for me.
    I do know that every church person who promoted the bad teachings of that day played a part in harming me. Ultimately, I made my own mistakes, but they were direct conduits for Satan's lies. Those lies led me to the mistakes that I made. The toxicity of singleness means that I can't see singleness as positively as you do. To me, singleness is just death. I'm glad I didn't harm another person by getting into a bad marriage, but singleness is still death.
    I appreciate your more balanced teaching because you may be helping to put a millstone around the lies that the church told me and sinking those lies in the ocean with that millstone. I hope that those who helped spread the lies will be confounded by a more balanced teaching.

      VTPSTTU Hi, I read your comment, and honestly I’m a bit confused. What happened that you think singleness is death? I think death is turning away from the living God because you didn’t marry when that was your heart’s desire. I understand that you’ve become discouraged, but if you’ve rejected God because of it you’re going to face even worse things than singleness or even bad health. The Word talks about how the Israelites were an example for us. When they were in the wilderness for 40 years they complained and were destroyed by the destroyer. I believe that is what you’re experiencing. Repent my friend and turn to Him. He can restore the years the locust and caterpillar have eaten away.

    Hey Tiffany, I do have a question for you that, you do always mention having father daughter relationship with Christ is more beautiful during the waiting season of the singleness time. How do you find happiness in father-daughter relationship ? How did you build yourself up in the relationship with god ? The struggle is real that I also face, watched dozens of your videos. Sometimes I even review of what I watched to help me grow in a relationship with god. I never had a father who loved me. My biological father, he never loved I and my sister at all, that I had seen my mom's love in every aspect of my life. My mom's most of the life was singleness when raising I and my sister. It is great to see and understand, and apply to my life, finding a strong relationship with Heavenly Father- Christ.

    • @TiffanyDawn
      @TiffanyDawn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Saira! What an amazing question! First though, I am so sorry to hear that you didn't grow up having a dad who loved you. I know so so many girls have that same experience, of never knowing a real, biological father's love, and it makes my heart so sad. I'm praying that God can provide some great guys to kind of step in as "dad" figures for you, to show you a picture of how much God loves you like a Father! But I think it is so amazing that you are pursuing a relationship with God and trying to get to know Him more. I really believe that that in itself brings so much joy to God's heart! Thomas Merton once wrote to God, "I think the fact that I want to please you, pleases you." And I fully agree! I am going to start thinking about your question, because I might actually do a video on it. I think it's a question SO MANY girls are wondering. In the meantime, did you see To All the Girls Who Grew Up Christian Part 1? In that video I talk a lot about how my relationship with God grew, and I think it applies to all of us, whether or not we grew up Christian. Here's the link, in case that would be helpful for you: th-cam.com/video/MHV6YMilaE4/w-d-xo.html - Much love to you, and I'm praying that God would reveal His love to you in a brand new way and continue to teach you how to come closer to Him!

I have no family left living. I have no friends.. my best friend ever died 6 yr ago. Being alone is horrible. Being unwanted destroys your self esteem and you lose confidence. I have no fun.. I don't go or do anything alone.. it is boring to go out alone. I tried and even going to a movie alone is boring and I just stopped doing it. I stopped going to restaurants... sitting in a restaurant alone.. looking around the room at people talking to each other just makes depression set in. I'm not young anymore but I'm not dead either and don't want to be alone.

      I would recommend getting involved in a local church and joining a small group where you'd be able to meet people. Thats how Ive met most of my friends! Most churches have mens groups and events specifically to be able to connect with other men in friendship. You can also meet people through serving within the church. Most pastors would also be willing to help connect you with men in the church to befriend over coffee etc. As for meeting women, as you fill your life with more purpose and connection with friends, you won't be so deeply worried about that. And as you feel less miserable and less like you need a woman to be your only person in your life you will be more likely to connect with one, but you don't need to be married again to find purpose and contentment. Churches are a great place to start and have great resources for connecting with others. Also, volunteering in your city in whatever areas of interest. I volunteer at a kids center for underprivileged kids, I serve within my church, volunteer at a local hospital, etc. All of that helps with connection with other people!

    I'm introverted, and investing takes a lot out of me. The idea of multiple relationships is overwhelming/exhausting a lot of the time, too. In addition, the times I've recently tried investing with several people, but it wasn't acknowledged or reciprocated. (Also draining.) Thoughts?

      I understand what you're going through. I'm also 19, and well, I just wanna share my views: I want God's best, God's choice. So I will wait for that (not as someone waiting inside my room but actively waiting) and I did pray to God to set these desires aside for now. And the feelings dulled. Then I said: God, may you keep my heart and open it only to the one you intend for me.

    Very encouraging video and yes, I'm taking steps to get myself closer to God to help me find companionship and I just feel like an emotional distress after many of my friends now married and a good fraction of those have families now. I know that I can still pursue my dreams as I'm looking to find a breakthrough my professional life, yet I still feel lonely outside of friendship moments. Often I turn to eating to fill that void of companionship or friendship and it just feels like I'm only using it as a bandage. Is there anyway I can improve on it other than spending additional time with God?

    • @TiffanyDawn
      @TiffanyDawn  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so hard when all your friends are marrying and starting families! I remember feeling like I was so far behind. 😞 And it is so hard when you come home alone to an empty apartment! But wow, what insight, how you said, "I turn to eating to fill that void...using it only as a bandage." That is so insightful!! 😍 I think the thing that was the most helpful to me was finding a way to help / serve others. Writing my books and blog posts, and getting to speak at different events was one way I did that. But other ways were making meals at Ronald McDonald Houses and leading Bible studies for college girls. For some reason giving to other people helps so much in seasons of loneliness--at least that's what I've found. Another thing that's helped me a TON with loneliness is counseling, to figure out where it's coming from and how I can work through those things. But there is also a real ache that's there in some single seasons. There are times when it's really hard and times when it gets easier. I hope that can help encourage you in some way! Also, I have a video about my own struggle with binge eating here, if you'd like to see it ❤️ --> th-cam.com/video/7EWOMjaKlus/w-d-xo.html - Much love to you and I'll be praying for you!

    Actually, that scripture in Judges 11 is a bit obscure. It doesn't really say that she was killed. There are some who are of the view that she was dedicated to the temple of the Lord, so she wouldn't have kids that's why she mourned her virginity or something along those lines, and there are those of the view who believe it was a literal human sacrifice. I kind of hold to the first view since God didn't take human sacrifices and abhorred people who sacrificed their children in the fire to other gods. :) God bless
