Interesting perspective Tiffany. The Proverbs 31 woman is a woman of God giving her best for God, family and people. Every woman should strive for those things (Best for God, family and people). Thus in a general sense the Proverbs 31 woman is an excellent model in Christ to pursue. Lastly, a boy of 5 cant put out the same quality as a man of 30, why? Because the boy is young and growing. The same is true for every man and woman today. Strive for Proverbs 31 but don't lose yourself in the process by hammering yourself for not measuring up. It's truly simple: love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself. Which means give your best to God and people in love. That doesnt mean we copy another person to the T. But we each do our best in Christ; excellence for God. I disagree with you. This is the reason why the woman in Proverbs 31 is so rare is that she does the will of God and not making any excuses. Do not be conform in the world just because you cannot do what the bible says. May the Holy Spirit reveal to you what is right and just to Him not on the world :)
I really like what you wrote and I totaly agree with you. It's like to say to aim to be more like Jesus to a child of God even if he/she will never come close to that perfection while living on this earth. But still the bible calls us to do so because it's the only way to know better God/improve the relationship with Him and to grow as a beliver.
This doesn’t really have to do with the video, but I would just like to make a comment about the chapter. So many girls use this passage as just a way to feel good about themselves. Like “Don’t worry, sweetie, Jesus loves you, ur beautiful, beauty is on the inside💞😤.” Which is ok. God made us in his image. You’re right. But this chapter is so much more powerful than that. It calls for so much more action, not a passive realization or self-acceptance. It calls for us to be strong, courageous, hardworking, generous, loving, kind, heart drowning in God’s spirit, recklessly in love with God. Whenever I read this I just feel so strengthened and emboldened. And I don’t feel strong in my own self, my God-given beauty, or a feministic sense of strength, I feel like God can do anything through me. It makes me want to work hard, and be wildly enthusiastic my love for God, yet also be gentle, and have a sense of quietude, a beautiful peace in me that I don’t need to be this big powerhouse of good deeds, but instead a heart that is grossly in love with God. It makes me be thankful for being made a woman. So many girls live their life thinking, “Men have it so much easier, life sucks to be a girl, blah blah blah.” No. God gave us so different and so special. When a woman makes it her heart’s desire to honor God above all else, it is gorgeous. That’s all I have to say.
Note on that: In the Jewish tradition Proverbs 31 actually is read by the father of the house to praise his wife and remind the sons what a wonderful mother they have and that they should honor her. So it is more like an exemplary praise, encouraging men to value what the woman of the house does. So that is how I've been looking at it ever since hearing that. Thanks for all your insight! Thank you for sharing the background of where the Proverb 31 women came from. Frankly I was and still am shocked by the number of people who believe that she was a real person. I always point out that most likely you wouldn't find a women who owes land, has servants and wears fine linens also selling goods at the market.

I think we either believe the whole bible or we don’t. It’s scary you are teaching not to glean from the scripture of Proverbs 31. I think we have to take into consideration that this was written before Christ and so now we have Holy Spirit and His guidance as to how God crested each of us and how Proverbs 31 speaks to me as an individual...shouldn’t be taken out of context or in this case taken line for line. As a whole I believe it’s an outline of characteristics of a virtuous woman. You seemed to take this so literal instead of leaning on Holy Spirit just to get laughs and clicks.

Amazing. This made me so happy that I had to watch it twice. I thank God for His message through our sister, Tiffany. I'm now at peace realizing that I really am not the Proverbs 31 woman. 😘😍 What made me feel blessed is the fact that God wants me to be myself and that I don't have to measure up to the women in the Bible. As a single mom who always fall short, I bow down to my knees crying to God for forgiveness for failing Him and I cry for help. I thank the Lord for the passion He placed in my heart to always seek Him.

I love your take on this and I’ve also felt overshadowed by “31 status”. I also think, for myself, taking the attributes of the 31 woman into account helps me keep on track. We can’t follow her as a blueprint but we can use her as an example of hard work and love.
I so appreciate what you are saying, and I believe that you have some good points, I just wonder if some of what was said could be put differently. Because what you are talking about seems to be the difference between accurate and inaccurate interpretations of the Bible. We were not meant to take this part of scripture literally, but metaphorically as it is a poem. The whole point of the text is that she uses the unique gifts God has given her and does this diligently. Many words throughout the text translate to encapsulate many different areas of gifting (physical strength, wisdom, business savvy, teaching, and kindness). As Christians, all of the different traits listed are things that we are called do anyway all under the transformative power of God (hardworking, honest, caring, generous, etc.). I’m sorry this is so long, and I really appreciate your honesty in the video as I do believe we can get discouraged when reading these passages when we do not read them correctly. I’ve been learning in a class that we need to be careful not to read our own culture and ideals into the biblical text, but to make sure that we understand the specific purpose, message, medium and audience of the time and how that then can translate into our today. Sorry for how long that was. Thank you for going through the history and type of text this is. Some very good thoughts.

God wants us to be ourselves? Then why does He call us to put off the old self and take on the new self when we become Christians? Also, as you mentioned how Proverbs 31 is a poem, it shouldn't be taken completely literally. Just like how in Songs of Solomon when the king describes his beloved; if what he said was taken literally, she would actually look ridiculous! All of what he said was symbolic of not her actual physical appearance, but more of her virtue. So for the Proverbs 31 woman, here are the themes from the poem that can be taken from it; - A Godly wife is rare and is a true blessing from God - A Godly wife works hard to do what is best for her family; both within the home and outside the home. - A Godly woman respects her husband and inspires him to be the best possible version of himself. - A Godly woman respects God and his commands, and raises her family to follow in the footsteps of her faith. In these key cases, Godly husbands are practically called to do the same but in their own ways. So in reality, women should actually aspire to be like the Proverbs 31 woman in terms of her character, but not necessarily in her actions.
I really appreciate your perspective on this. I struggle so much with comparing myself to others -- physically, spiritually, socially, etc. I really like that is more of a guideline to character traits to look for in a woman. And I would even dare to say that they're not the characteristics of just woman -- I think any of these characteristics would be good ones to have in a woman. Some people have multiple talents, and some people only have one that is really their strong point.

To make it worse, there’s a family member to look at IRL (to whom I already feel inferior) who seems to embody these traits. Amazing. This made me so happy that I had to watch it twice. I thank God for His message through our sister, Tiffany. I'm now at peace realizing that I really am not the Proverbs 31 woman. 😘😍 What made me feel blessed is the fact that God wants me to be myself and that I don't have to measure up to the women in the Bible. As a single mom who always fall short, I bow down to my knees crying to God for forgiveness for failing Him and I cry for help. I thank the Lord for the passion He placed in my heart to always seek Him.

I feel like women put this pressure on themselves to follow in the footsteps of Proverbs 31 and all that is is legalism because it can be seen as a bunch of rules and regulations to follow and it puts this spirit of perfectionism on these poor women. AND, not to mention, there's a lot of men out there expecting women to be a "good Proverbs 31 wife". The church needs a wake up call when it comes to this because we need to stop idolizing her.

I love your take on this and I’ve also felt overshadowed by “31 status”. I also think, for myself, taking the attributes of the 31 woman into account helps me keep on track. We can’t follow her as a blueprint but we can use her as an example of hard work and love.

I so appreciate what you are saying, and I believe that you have some good points, I just wonder if some of what was said could be put differently. Because what you are talking about seems to be the difference between accurate and inaccurate interpretations of the Bible. We were not meant to take this part of scripture literally, but metaphorically as it is a poem. The whole point of the text is that she uses the unique gifts God has given her and does this diligently.
Many words throughout the text translate to encapsulate many different areas of gifting (physical strength, wisdom, business savvy, teaching, and kindness). As Christians, all of the different traits listed are things that we are called do anyway all under the transformative power of God (hardworking, honest, caring, generous, etc.).
I’m sorry this is so long, and I really appreciate your honesty in the video as I do believe we can get discouraged when reading these passages when we do not read them correctly. I’ve been learning in a class that we need to be careful not to read our own culture and ideals into the biblical text, but to make sure that we understand the specific purpose, message, medium and audience of the time and how that then can translate into our today.

Many American preachers say that she was a home maker, which I really cannot see in this text. It is true that God made us all unique, with a unique purpose. THIS & THAT with KAT GARDEA love this! Yes I always wished I could be quieter cause I thought that was what Christian women were supposed to be like. But now I realize my louder, very talkative personality is a gift!
God wants us to be ourselves? Then why does He call us to put off the old self and take on the new self when we become Christians?
Also, as you mentioned how Proverbs 31 is a poem, it shouldn't be taken completely literally. Just like how in Songs of Solomon when the king describes his beloved; if what he said was taken literally, she would actually look ridiculous! All of what he said was symbolic of not her actual physical appearance, but more of her virtue.
So for the Proverbs 31 woman, here are the themes from the poem that can be taken from it;
- A Godly wife is rare and is a true blessing from God
- A Godly wife works hard to do what is best for her family; both within the home and outside the home.
- A Godly woman respects her husband and inspires him to be the best possible version of himself.
- A Godly woman respects God and his commands, and raises her family to follow in the footsteps of her faith.
In these key cases, Godly husbands are practically called to do the same but in their own ways.
So in reality, women should actually aspire to be like the Proverbs 31 woman in terms of her character, but not necessarily in her actions.
I really appreciate your perspective on this. I struggle so much with comparing myself to others -- physically, spiritually, socially, etc. I really like that is more of a guideline to character traits to look for in a woman. And I would even dare to say that they're not the characteristics of just woman -- I think any of these characteristics would be good ones to have in a woman. Some people have multiple talents, and some people only have one that is really their strong point.
We can aspire to some of her characteristics, but I get tired just reading about her. I don’t think it is possible to be everything she is.

Your video only confirms that. Be who you are and allow God to change you if needed NOT to be Mrs. Proverbs 31 but to be a better version of who you are called out to be. I have always feel this way too. I dont want to be a Proverbs 31 woman, especially when these men not even a Proverbs 31 men. I am ok being who I am and I love being me. I dont want to be another woman neither do I want to copy her personality or charatcer, I have my own uniqueness and I am happy with me.

I'm not even a believer, but I really like your approach and the way you argument everything without offending anyone. this really helped me i have always felt as thought God was calling me to be something that's not Proverbs 31 tradinalley, but a lot of the qualities of the Proverbs 31, are what i can apply to my life and is universal like you said, I really needed to hear this it really freed me to be who to be who God has called me to. Thank you for this! I’ve always compared myself to her and had a complex about not measuring up. To make it worse, there’s a family member to look at IRL (to whom I already feel inferior) who seems to embody these traits. I’m going to pray that God teaches me what he wants me to learn from this passage.

You got to the right idea in the end, but I struggle with how you started. I see this as principles, not specifics. And while I love to sew, I am very grateful that I do not have to sew for my family to keep us all closed. I can keep my family clothed in other ways today...
And the whole sleep thing.. we all need different amounts of sleep. But are we being lazy? That is a different question/thought.

We do not have to be ourselves, ourselves are corrupted and look only to satisfy our flesh, there is nothing good in ourselves. We have to be like Jesus. You really need to know God and Jesus from the bible no the god that you have made in your mind according to your thoughts, desires, flesh.
