well even if his talent of driving a race car wasnt supreme, you still have to admire his love of the sport. admitting that you are not gonna cut it as a driver(which must be difficult), but instead commiting to managing a team. especially if you think about the chances of rb ever beeing that successful at the start. he is undoubtly one of the guys that made rb so strong...

I think what helped Horner quite a lot as well, was that he quickly figured out how to play, use and abuse the media. which in turn, is a genius move again, as that draws in some sponsorships. Which equals more money, Which resulted in them being able to pay some pretty decent technical engineers and designers in the for of Adrian Newey. For about 10 million a year. Basically getting a highly uncompetetive Red Bull car into one of the most dominating ones in just 4 years.

Reminds me of a few years ago, during Covid, I would race against some friends in various games, arcade like NFS to Forza Horizon 4 to Sims like Assetto Corsa. I was sometimes quick enough to keep up, but will consistently lose to my friends, and sometimes get destroyed. After feeling very bad about myself for awhile, I accepted that I'm just not a good driver.
Another friend later hosted "Team Principle Simulator". It was basically Dungeons and Dragons, with him as the Dungeon Master, and the Dungeon being F1. We would all manage teams, with me managing Renault. Timezones and studies meant I couldn't be present to make live strategic calls for my team. But I always give him a long list of different strategies based on scenarios that I anticipated, and that was when the entire DnD party forgot that I was the slowest driver among them.

If you're looking for a more analytical, calm but still stern leader, then Toto would be preferable. But both are incredible starts for a team!

If we were all so lucky.
It's been funny to see all the ballyhoo about if Horner would leave RB for Ferrari this season. Not a chance. Horner jumping to the Scuderia is as likely as Toto doing it. He has no reason to at all. He's got both Max and Newey and he knows he's probably the only guy that Marko won't sack, especially now that the RB19 is an all-time great.
Aside from that, the best thing that could've happened for Horner was those eight years spent chasing Mercedes. It wasn't that RB was awful. They were just where Merc is now.
He's been there the whole way and Ferrari has more than enough issues that it makes no logical sense for him to switch. When Horner decides to pack it in, my guess it will be for retirement - nothing else. And he's earned it.

I knew his story but I didn’t realize his age so by the time I learned when he was offered role of team principal for a new Red Bull *F1* team, I was already a year older than when he started! 🤯
Even now I’m like 34 and no fucking way do I have nerves of steel to rally and carry an entire F1 team. Not to mention convincing/wooing/recruiting Adrian Newey, which was impressive & clever as well as stating how serious the team is ready to actually compete with the big boys of the time.
You can’t help but respect the man for everything he’s done & achieved.
👏🏻Bravo Christian, 👏🏻bravo Dietrich for placing full trust in him and stepping back (unlike meddling Ferrari/Alpine higher ups) and 👏🏻bravo Darth Marko for having *the* eye 😉
    🤫psst!
(but let’s ignore his recent eye spotting like hiring DeVries, unless that was some master plan to get Danny Ric in the car sooner than Danny Ric originally wanted.)

He deserves so much credit.
