You don't have to have surgeon hands to build gunpla. I have tremors in my hands and still build Real Grades all the time. You just gotta find ways to adapt and there are plenty of them. If you think you'd enjoy building gunpla, find an HG that looks good to you and just try. Everyone starts somewhere. We don't make the perfect looking kit right from the very first try and that's totally okay.
the new EG kits are pretty good too, not as good poseability but decent building itch scratching for shorter time and space commitment

There is Entry grade (EG), that as the name suggest an Entry level for people to get in. It's cheap, easy to build and still looks good. It has less details and articulation than HG.
And then there is workshop kits that is dirt cheap, sometimes you could get it for free at events, and have less articulation than EG. Very easy to build and still looks great on the shelf.
There's also caravan kits that is even cheaper than workshop kit and way less detail.
Those are the lowest point someone start building a gunpla.

@@Headbringer I didn't do much work with it, no nub mark removal, no panel lining, no decals. Just straight build.
as someone with shakey hands I can confirm HG (and by extension the 30Minutes Missions/Sisters) are way more forgiving of model kits than what some may be thinking. I remember as a kid seeing model kits for cars, or whatever. Tried a couple. Always felt too finicky, needing to be exact, and far to fragile to play. Model kits like these are press fit, all you need is some snippers and I promise... if you can follow lego instructions you could follow gundam instructions
Gunpla instructions are easier than lego’s too
@@azraeiazman gunpla usually have "fool proof" design. Which is you would be unlikely to put wrong pieces together.
I built my first gundam as a kid with a dull hobby knife in a hotel room, they’re far more forgiving than you’d think and the only way to learn is to make mistakes so you should go for it and build one
If you are feeling invested into the idea of Gunpla but don't want to get too deep into building them for any reason, then I may have a recomendation.
Gundam has had a series of Video Games called Gundam Breaker that allows you to build the model kits and kitbash them without fear of ruining IRL models, and the 4th numbered game comes out later this year with 250+ model kits to collect, build, kitbash, and mess around with: all without fear of ruining them.
I plan on getting it myself because I have been getting into Gunpla and besides WFM, SEED,and UC kits, I have a limmited selection to get that's easily available.
As someone that imported the Chinese version of GB3 at launch and has all of the PSVita releases, you just made my month by mentioning 4! New Breakers was ok but it felt too different, I used to spend hours and hours just getting my paint jobs just right. Can't wait!!
Tips for building Gunpla (especially the higher grade ones): if you see a part of the Gunpla where you are not sure whether you should cut it or not, DO NOT FUCKING CUT IT, CHECK THE MENU TO SEE DO YOU CUT IT OR NOT (definitely not speaking from experience and I definitely don’t have a unfinished MG RX-78 because I did that exact mistake)

I hope you give gunpla a try.
For the smoothest experience you want:
1. A single sided nipper (DSPIA or the God Hand, but any single side nipper will be relatively smooth)
2. A glass nano file, such as the Gunprimer Raser (glass file with sharp holes instead of ridges, leaves the area smooth whereas a file needs sanding afterwards)
3. Buffing sponge for finish, again Gunprimer has these and it’s an ultrafine 2x surface that will gloss or matte the surface as you want it.
You don’t even need the sponge and if you nip carefully biting away from the part and again on it, you largely don’t need to sand it either.
It’s extremely easy and satisfying with no glue. Other model kits require glue and often have warped parts that need fixing or poor fits/tolerances. Gunpla has none of that.
Get an HG Dagger L, it costs nothing, has no stickers and is a very tight and satisfying build.
Ooh, this reminds me of the Zachtronics game Last Call BBS. There was a gundam building minigame in it, and it was very well done as well.
funnily enough that game is on my wishlist, i just havent gotten around to getting it, maybe i will one of these days!

if you want something a lil more complex, i can recommend a game called Model Builder that allows you to fully build models of gundam and different models in general like planes, cars, minis, etc, it may have all the things you're looking for
Fuck yeah! Someone took that one gunpla simulator minigame from Last Call BBS and made it into a full game! Can't wait for the full release!
Great to hear that you were think of trying out a gunpla. I built my first gunpla when i was in grade 7. and i first taught my daughter to build one (EG Gundam) when she was 4. So, no need to be afraid of breaking anything. As long as you are buying a gunpla that is made by Bandai, they are much tougher than you think. And just like painting a picture, once you made a boo-boo, work around with it to make it unit to you. HG is a nice starter level. And currently they have the EG (Entry Grade) which is awesome for a starter. A 4 year-old can easily built it with minimum help.
This does look really good. This great for people who needs a some kind of "rehab" for spiraling down too deep in the model kit building hobby 😂
i really hope this game gets mod support as the gundam community is going to have field day with this game X3
I'd really recommend the entry grade if you want to test the waters. No tools, no glue, very inexpensive. It's purpose built to be a jumping off point for the hobby

Omg this looks like such a relaxing game. I build Gundams quite often but I agree its a time commitment and my hands hurt after an hour or so. This looks like it'll be all the relaxing aspects of the game minus the mess.
Tbh this game has alot of potential. Hopefully down the line they make a VR version of this

If you're that worried about starting they have entry grade kits that have no stickers and don't even require nippers to remove the pieces. Also they are in the $10 range so you won't cry if you somehow mess up.

if you liked this, theres also a game i can recommend called Model Builder that allows you to fully build models of gundam, planes, table top minis, theres also DLC of a bunch of different games like frostpunk, truck simulator, titan-forge, and more, its much more indepth :)
You've probably gotten this a lot - but Bandai's "30-minute mission" kits are pretty close to LEGO.
I would start there!
Or you could just play M.A.S.S. Builder or wait until Gundam Breaker 4 comes out
if you are worried about having issues with building Gundams try the entry grade ones they are neat introduction to the hobby
My first model kit was a Kotobukiya Roll (Mega Man) model kit, and this was with ZERO RESEARCH, ZERO TOOLS (I didn't even have a hobby nipper, a big mistake!) and FULL MOTIVATION.
She's still on the shelf today, and give or take a few points I had to nip and sand after completing the build with nothing but my bare hands, she's perfect! I've improved since then, but have definitely been humbled by a Real Grade (Part break = build failed, kitbash parts and/or throw the rest away). It's not impossible to do Gunpla, but if you're new, you have so many options. Entry Grades at sub 15 dollars to see if you're even into it, high grades of many many MANY kinds to just grab something cool and go for it!
This game's kinda' nostalgic, but there's something about actual plastic in your hands, versus clicking...
This seems like an interesting game I'll be keeping an eye out, but I do wish that it had 3D graphics instead. If we were building 3D models, then after we get done building our models we could pose them. Would be neat to have some type of room full of shelves to put all these models in to look at them in those custom poses.
Holy shit, the sound design is just yes.
Try an entry grade all parts are pop out. Just be careful with the v fin cause those break on the pop out of not careful.
Entry grade also have better color separation in a lot of cases due to not using stickers.
Hg is just nipper and file. 30 minute missions also may be more your bag as it's very easy to mix an match.
You don't need to have "surgeon hands" to build real Gunpla.
You also don't NEED to paint, sand, etc. The bare minimum you need is a pair of cheap nippers, and just cut the parts out. Then just follow the instructions, which are very easy to understand (no need to understand Japanese).
Only if you want to go all out, do you need to sand, paint, glue, etc.
I want to also add that I've been building Gunpla since the early 2000's. I started with nothing more than an Exacto knife. Later tried hand painting, etc. Now I'm airbrushing, customizing, etc, but nowhere near as good as some of those piece-of-art finished kits you see some people make.
I'm also practically blind! I need to use a magnifying lamp and/or visor in order to see up close.
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a very long time!

thanks to everyone suggesting ways to get into building gundam!! i really appreciate the push in the right direction with HG entry grade 1/44 scale gunpla, i have been looking into that and i think i will grab one i like and see how i go! maybe i'll do a video on it one day :)
You should really try doing real Gunpla, it's not finicky at all. Everything just snaps. Also you reminded me of Del Boy with constant lovely jubbly xD
You can try build Entry Grade RX 78 2 Gundam first. Then can move on High Grade model kits.

if you want a truly simple & pleasant building model kit just choose SD kit i love them
Entry grades aren't too bad to build, try starting with one of those.

You should build some SDs or 30MM they are REALLY accessible and Entry Grade is the same! And the technology is only getting better but this game def is gonna be one I’m purchasing soon as I can!

How i wish removing the nubs cleanly is as easy as shown in this game hahaha
First ever gunpla was an RG RX-78-2 lovingly known as Gramps. That kit is notorious for quality issues in some of the joints as its one of the first Real Grades. However if you start with High Grades depending on the series you'd find it quite satisfying. Personally I'd suggest either kits from Origin line or the Witch From Mercury.
Go for HG gundam plastic model.
They are not as fragile as you think it is. And the level of satisfaction is different from just playing video game.
Just try Gunpla, HG Kits are not expensive and even i can do it with my fat fingers :)
My backlog of over 60 kits would never forgive me if I started playing this game xD
Try doing some EG (Entry Grade) models; they don't require any tools- not even nippers- and they still look pretty good when you're done.
I'd love something similar but using Unreal engine and a lot more detailed. I build kits, it relaxing, not to intricate. Before I started I checked out streams for tips, tricks and rankings of what are considered some of the top kits. Some of the best kits are quite cheap in the HG class. Once you get confident and "into the world" the wallet starts to feel the pain though. But it's worth it. =)
Man, this brings me back to… yesterday, when i built the RG Eva unit 01 from Evangelion. That build was fricking awesome

Honestly, I never enjoyed building GunPlas. I hate that process. It's tiring especially after building hundreds of them. I like my gunplas clean so it's taking me more time to build even a regular HG which is annoying. I hate nub marks. Why don't they just undergate everything. I just really love Gundam not building plastic model kits - But it's the only way to get most of them and put enough levels of details to my liking. If robot spirits releases are more common and cheaper, I prefer getting RS these days.
You should try the irl version of a demo in Gunpla, one that isn’t finicky, called Entry Grade Gunpla. I recommend the nu Gundam entry grade
Imagine if the parts are in 3D, and can be imported to a 3D software.. and 3D print it.. for personal use, ofc
Fun fact: as you improve your gun dam building skills you can always go back and touch up, fix, or even paint your old kits. There’s always room to grow, so don’t worry too much about building a gundam. You just need to get started

Building gundam is so much easier then people think, you really shouldn't be intimidated. I built my first hg when I was 12, sitting in the corner of a comic convention with nothing but a pocket knife.
If bandai make something like this it will make painting easier 😂

gundas are WAY Tougher build quality wise and easier to build and even playable compared to other model kits. if perfection isn't the goal, you probably don't even need snippers. i remember building a hg exia with a nail clipper when i was 8.

I have shakey hands and it's really not that big a deal. You think they are cool? Try them! Get some HGs, you can get some really good quality ones for $20-$30 USD, super inexpensive. And just learn by building those before moving onto more complicated ones. You may mess up, more likely so if you have shakey hands but not necessarily, but you'll figure it out. It's no big deal!
In other words, please build gunpla. Gunpla is freedom.

as someone who regularly builds all sorts of gunpla and other mecha model kits i find this interesting but could never get into this game at least not until a version of it is available that replicates the building process in a much more realistic manner someday
Go ahead and try a kit out. They have some very inexpensive gundams now(entry grade) that you can afford to mess up and develop your techniques with. You're already a builder at heart!

Gunpla isnt even complicated. This is way too simple, everything is already built, pretty much just snapping together. It skips the most satisfying thing of building a kit.
