I started this business in October of 2020 after my first and main business was greatly affected by the pandemic. Pivoting to something else, the dumpster business, I started with cargo trailers and moved to dump trailers. The cargo trailers were great, however, I spent an extra $55 PER DUMP just for pull-out services. A pull-out is when the workers at the landfill use a bulldozer to hook to a chain on your cargo trailer and pull all the trash out of the cargo trailer. That was fine for a little while, but the extra work and cost were not worth it. I sold those cargo trailers and bought some dump trailers. I absolutely loved the dump trailers, they were bumper pulls. I had a smaller 15 yard and a larger 20-yard dump trailer.
The cost, however, maintaining, registration, many sets of tires, etc did not support the scalability of growth that I want. So I moved to roll-off dumpsters. I can operate many dumpsters with just one roll-off trailer. It has proven to be the best business shift to date. My goal is to run 25 dumpsters by the end of 2021. An ambitious but attainable goal. I just have to hustle hard, keep reinvesting and marketing the business.
