At first I was sceptical about how much "fun" you would get. Now, with the SkyRc I can see quite a bit of fun trying to get your speeds/records, tinkering etc. If you don't have any tracking, just going in straight lines ain't my thing 🤣. Still, overall I'd certainly give it a thumbs up
I had got the green one as it was almost the last one in AUSTRALIA when I did. Then ordered the recommended REEDY POWER 2S and 3S batteries and CHARGER for it and as for the 3900kv motor that can be used on 2S is no longer being made or in stock. I had just got my SKYRC GNSS SPEED METER GSM-015 and tried them out with it and got 40kmh on 2S then 60kmh on 3S. The WLTOYS A969B and the A979B are just 1kmh faster at 61kmh. I do not race and just have fun with it and as for what class it would be in it is OUTLAW ALL THE WAY. I put my GOPRO HERO 7 BLACK on the inside looking through the windscreen and it looks great but have to block out the steering next time with something like a dash board to hide it. The steering adjustments are so touchy and extremely fine to get right.
Recently, as in two days ago, my wife has noticed how much joy I've gotten from the hobby and watching RC videos and said she thinks I should continue the hobby. She has no idea how expensive this hobby can get...LOL But I suppose its true " he who findeth a wife findeth a good thing"!
I need a runway. Here in Florida we have straight roads but mad camber for the tropical rains. I sneak onto the local RC aircraft runway now and again but its too short for full blooded speed runs
The more of these I watch the more I want one. Looks addictive kinda like crawling I was hooked from the first few videos I watched. Then after I got one forget it totally hooked. I crawl every day now on my backyard course. Anyways great video buddy.

Great video I build a slash drag car last year love it, one thing with these rtr drag car that are available they have stability but in no prep rc your not allowed to use it, all about the fine tuning.👍

The stickers are probably not cut because they are double filmed. Paper on the back and removable clear film on top. If you do apply them they should look good
so they installed a gyro that needs manual gains adjusting??? that would be great since most drivers will not want to change settings once they are happy with the way car handles...

someday.. I'll break out the scratch built 1/12 dragster for a run video. its chassis is from carbon fiber arrow blanks, black epoxy-glass plate stock, "welded" together with sewing thread and CA glue. motor pod is typical on road pan car type with pinion ahead of the spur gear, old school foam rubber tires, simple really. weighs very little, 3650 size 5000kv brushless for power, about 3.8:1 ratio, 8.2" rollout. trick is having tall enough gear it launches without losing it then nailing it at 8-10 foot to let it power through. gotta pick up a programming card for the ESC to play with it more. the intent is for 2S 2200mah size only, to keep the power/weight ratio up.
@@TomleyRC you can do a lot with that building method and carbon fiber rod+tubing, just shape parts to fit, scuff them up, CA together then start lashing with thread and CA every direction possible. with tubing you can drill in, angle them over for rod stock to fit in or through for extra strength. motor pod was 5 bucks, steering blocks+spindles and king pins were about 12 bucks (RJspeed). project started with just the body then build the rail chassis to fit under it.. haha.. I need to make a video durnit.

I know in real drag racing you can tweak your wheelie bar to help compensate for torque steer on launch as well. After all it is what steers the car when the front wheels aren't

That's the challenge, probably lairy handling on 1S! I like scale and it would probably be a longer 132foot run and more involved drive, could start from a stock (over weight underpowered) 16seconds run and modify to try for sub10. Hard bodies, true 1:10, line lock etc. It's why the crawlers appealed and I'm back in the hobby.

But its awesome these componets were created in 1/10th scale. If you look at 50s and 60s drag cars you will see alot of 6 lug rearends out of pickup trucks. And Gassers used beam front axels out of 2wd trucks and vans. All this stuff is available. Can you imagine 1960s stock cars road racing cars running leafsprung or three link coil sprung rear suspension and IFS? I have really wondered where the manufacterers have been on this. The consumer drives what products are going to be available. And its a mix of R/Cer's who know very little about the nuts and bolts of how real cars work and people who aren't into the scale aspect of the hobby as much so it doesn't bother them that the model isn't that scale. Nothing wrong with that it should be fun first. I fall somewhere in the middle of that. But I do like a challenge, and hearing that scale geometry suspension cars could never be competitive in no prep, oval or road course. Let's find out! I enjoy trying. So yeah I have a flat frame crawler chassis slowly becoming a drag car. I know other people are developing these cars but they are elusive to my internet searches

So as I'm an old school rc guy what exactly is no prep drag racing? I get the idea of scale drag racing and could see how the challenge of getting the best out of your setup could be quite addictive. But surely people will be working on these things for many many hours before they would take it to a race.
Modified they can do 50-60mph. But remember they are mostly raced in public parking lots. So most rules limit you to 2s. And stock gearing. As not to hurt people.
Not surprised if that would be the price. Traxxas is reasonably expensive. Their parts are everywhere and cheap tho. And they got good customer care 👌. Still I wouldn't buy 😂
To get the best launch. Drag cars run 90/10 shocks. 90 percent compression. 10 percent lift. For weight transfer. Best you can do. Is put super lightweight shock oil up front. Everything else I believe you already know.
I can hear that electric motor making big block V8 tones. Nice, but it could get boring quickly unless you like chasing numbers or have friends to compete with.

Trying to decide which drag car to get. Last summer it was a real big thing around here and Associated has a special for $170 for a RTR kit, which is a great deal. They have a kit for $100 and I have electronics already, but an extra set of electrics for $70 is not a bad deal.
When you're doing a burnout you want to do it at a low RPM that way the tire doesn't balloon you will want to put a lot higher KV motor on it starch is somewhere between 32 + 3500 kv I run a 5200kv to get the wheel speed up on 2s on 3s it will go over 100mph
Love this type of car takes me back to when I used to work at santa pod , I"m abit dissapointed with the top end speed compered to the Losi camaro ,but i'm sure a diferent kv motor would sort that out , ive promised myself one if no holliday abroad
@@TomleyRC defo gonna get the losi when it gets to blighty , watched some of the masive American winner take all big money events awesome , I think 7000 KV may be a bit high for the esc 5000 would be a nice mix of speed and torque and give the esc and motor an easier time , stick some paddles on and beach or dirt runs that would be cool

Top racers are doing 2.5 sec on 2s... Low turn motors. It's great that the GPS does distance too. Use rug for tire warming to save rubber

getting your car to actually go in straight line is the hardest part of tuning lol so if you enjoy tuning you'd love Dragging..

Yes, and in reality, 132ft is not far, so you could find and old car park and a few mates and have fun!
Scale 1/10 quarter mile is 132 feet.
Just changing pinion will get you to about 40mph on 2s, for no prep only 2s is allowed if following the US rules which I am sure we will.

I got a dr10 72 36 gearing proline blue dot and a all stock drag slash , the drag slash all stock is 25 feet in front of the dr10 in 132 foot track
Would have a blast running one of these with an AMC Javelin or Chevy split window Corvette body on it.
Get you set of proline big daddy drag silks and run a 120 amp esc on the stock motor 3s and the list goes on

Yes it's around £540/600 and the Arma infraction costs the same and can hit speed of 80mph

Trying to decide which drag car to get. Last summer it was a real big thing around here and Associated has a special for $170 for a RTR kit, which is a great deal. They have a kit for $100 and I have electronics already, but an extra set of electrics for $70 is not a bad deal.
I couldn’t pass it that I got both the rtr & the kit for that price you say!

I have a drag track not so far from my house I never knew they made rc drag cars I'd rather build a real one but this is cool
When you're doing a burnout you want to do it at a low RPM that way the tire doesn't balloon you will want to put a lot higher KV motor on it starch is somewhere between 32 + 3500 kv I run a 5200kv to get the wheel speed up on 2s on 3s it will go over 100mph

Love this type of car takes me back to when I used to work at santa pod , I"m abit dissapointed with the top end speed compered to the Losi camaro ,but i'm sure a diferent kv motor would sort that out , ive promised myself one if no holliday abroad

@@TomleyRC defo gonna get the losi when it gets to blighty , watched some of the masive American winner take all big money events awesome , I think 7000 KV may be a bit high for the esc 5000 would be a nice mix of speed and torque and give the esc and motor an easier time , stick some paddles on and beach or dirt runs that would be cool

What’s the run time on this I bought my son the armor graphite truck and only get Mayb 10 mins of run time even up graded the battery and that only got him a few more mins!
