The fact that they actually wired up all those drivers on that one speaker is pretty impressive.
Gotta give them, that's some serious dedication to building the crappiest shit.
I really doubt all "tweeters" are wired up @@ProbeGT2
Nvm, seem the tweeters
Shit half of em probaly aren't even playing
@@gbresaleking then you gotta give them even more credit. Considering they still bothered to solder wires to them all.
Those being powered by a McIntosh is like putting race gas in a Prius 😂
real
Wow, can't believe you found some speakers worthy of the McIntosh amp!
It was tough, but I finally found them!
@@wal Can you do a review over the B2 audio Rage V2 12" subwoofer
Tbh the amp let's the speakers down 😂
Totally agree 😂😂
I could hear those tweeters all the way here in Kenya😂😂😂😂
😂 👍🏽
Gave me tinnitus in the UK 🤣😊
mashilingi🤣🤣
bana ni legit
This thread 😂😂
I would've liked to hear the speakers without the sub woofers.
"Please, God... NO!"
I can remember when PPL had 4 Kenwood 6x9s in a box for subs
Eyy haha my mom did back in the day in her vw beetle and older one not t one of these ugly new ones lol
I remember installing back in the early 80's. Car subwoofers were unicorns back then. The most popular install was 4 JBL T545 6x9s on the back dash. If you had a 4 pack and a Jenson Booster, you were the top dog!
Remember the Roadmaster booster eq? 😂😂😂
I think my Craig Powerplay cassette deck put out 12 watts per instead of the usual 3-4 in car players without external amps
I remember back when I used to work at a beeper store, the owner started pushing car audio too. But he wouldn't buy name brand stuff unless you put down a down payment then he'd go pick it ip from his wholesaler. I installed countless Mustang Audio equaluzer/boosters, Pyramid equalizers and amplifiers, as well as Boss Audio and later Urban Audio and Pioneer subs.
Back around 1985 I recall calling a local audio place on the phone that did car audio as well and asked if they had 6X9, or 4X10 speakers that could go down to 60 Hz or lower. I was laughed at. Well at the time Pyle had 4X10 speakers they called woofers that went very low, 45Hz maybe. I bought them and bought tweeters from Radio Shack and mounted the tweeter on the grill of those speakers I put in my 1978 Chevy Monza rear deck. Power it with a power EQ and it was pretty nice. 5 or so years later one of them had a rubbing problem.(to much sun), and I went to a local car stereo shop tried the Pyramid 4X10 (way to stiff) took them back and got Pioneer 4X10'sand that were workable but way to easy to move, and without any box around them they moved out to far off the pole piece. I still have the other Pyle 4X10 and built a small little 16 watt Sub amp for it and sub box of my own design. Still sound good last I used it. I had to glob of the surround with silicon where it had torn or wore out the edge. That was before I know that soft edge could be replaced and still work well.
@@grandam still have a couple around....just because
At least they weren't "straight up lyin' to ya"...all nine powered, real drivers, not a fake tweeter in sight! 😂
Right! Never heard of a cone tweeter referred as a "piano" tweeter tho
they were not lying to ya because this is not a micky mouse program. lol
@The300ZXGuru lol, this here's m' favourite part.
@@wal I think what happened was over in Chi- er, i mean the IDI lab, PIEZO got mis translated to PIANO. Got a good chuckle out of that.. Even though, we all know those drivers are all pro competition quality drivers. >.>
@@leemollison7508 YOU BIG DUMMY ITS MY FAV PART TOO!
I'd rock those just based on looks alone 😂
For real!
I miss those days when I'd go to the local flea market and grab a 200W Pyramid sub amp and actually be satisfied with the sound, lol
Or a Sansui pullout that had descent sound.
200w IRL but badged as 2000w 😂
@@slimstickman SSL still does that 😂😂😂
Back in 2001 my cousin tried to tell me his Sony detachable face was better than my Pioneer.. 3 months later, I was in front of him driving down the road and I saw something go out in his driver side window. We get back to his house and it was his stereo. Apparently the detached face kept losing signal..
My flea market was called Gibraltar Trade Center. Many great cheap memories and SYSTEMS were gained from there.
Thanks a lot Big d wiz. Those funky pup subs just blew my TV speakers out
Sorry, next time I'll place a warning before showing the pups
This might be the most epic car audio system on TH-cam!
They definitely have that Sparkomatic vibe to them
"Mecca" from JCWhitney
You know Big D ain’t messing around when he brings out the funky pups!😂
Your presentation on these high-end speakers is fookin' hilarious
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Big D, you outdid yourself on this one!! The video clip sampling and placement is off the charts!!! I’m dyin over here!!!
I don’t know how many people I’ve seen over the years who think that the more speakers they have, the better the sound. The best sounding system that I have ever had utilized a pair of Cerwin Vega 5 1/4” components and a single Lanzar 8” subwoofer. This was all in the late 90’s.
Thanks Big D!!
Love the content! I have purhased a LOT of audio equipment after watching your vids. My sons accord is bangin hard. Thanks buddy, keep it up.
I love this channel I feel like I'm going back in time and tuned into something special.
Man back in the day, 6 of those with a pyramid 600watt equalizer would have been the bomb!!!! LOL!!!!
loved seeing the wiring, good video! low key hilarious.
In the 80s i had a pioneer component system , underdash tuner and equalizer, and a gm-120 amp hooked to pioneer ts or tx 698's. Amazing sound and powerful as anything back in its day. We tried to fry them 6x9s to bohemian rhapsody many times but they were tough as a $2 ham steak. Great video Big D, keep it coming.
I used to have a pioneer GM-120 amp and the component system it came out of a corvair..
So glad you did this video. Always wondered about these speakers when I would see them at the flea market
😂😂😂😂 Good choice using the Macintosh to demo these AMAZING speakers!
The best speakers require the best in amplification
@wal I was honestly kinda shocked that all the drivers were connected! As always, thank you so much for showing this stuff Big D!
Greatest was the kraco truck box speakers with the passive radiator and awesome tweeter on top. From the late 80s and early 90s
Haha!! I haven’t thought about those in years. Had a couple friends with those. They are literally what started me into the car audio world. Would love to see Big D test some of those monsters.
The mud is so thick I can hear it through the mic, through the YT compression and through my home theater.
The outtakes at the end!!! Gold!!!!!
brings back memories of shopping at kmart as a small child in the 80's
They look sick
This made my year.
bro those are totally bringing back some flea market vibes!
First i loved it when i saw you were pairing them with the funky pups. Then you threw a curve ball with the McIntosh! Love it!
I bought some 4-way, 5-driver 6x9s in the early 1990s for my dorm room that were actually pretty darn good. I couldn’t go all out for an exquisite set like these.
need more flee market amps and speakers love these series
Impressed 😮
Man that bass from your setup blew up my beats 🎧 headphones
Best speaker i have ever seen so far. :D
Particularly the Crossovers are highly engineered!
my first cassette deck was an IDI it had a ff/ej button all in one. we called it the incredible distortion instrument
I still have a pair of Tenna Mindblower 6x9s new in the box circa 1982
oh man those are sweet!
i like that your still rocking the porter cable impact. only funny cuz i have the same one
I never thought I'd see a shit to shinola setup so complete, but you did it brother. Godspeed.
I bought my first car speakers at a flea market in 1978 for my first car, a 1965 Oldsmobile DelMont 88. They looked a lot like these! I think I paid $50 for them, a fortune for a factory worker in those days. I blew them up when I upgraded my amp. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’m impressed they were all real drivers. That’s a W. my first car speakers I had were Craig v100s I think… they were red and yellow and they had 3 tweeters on them. (Got them from a neighbour) Only 1 of them was actually hooked up. And it was a coin type piezo driver under a membrane. The other 2 were fake membranes with nothing metal or conductive below. Produced 0 treble and they had probably 110db sensitivity at 2500hz but 80db at the rest of the spectrum. I love vintage speakers.
Perfect set of speakers for the Side by Side with a Jeep Bar..
This is one of your best videos yet.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@wal You’re very welcome Sir.
There was an epic flea market at Republic airport in Farmingdale on Long Island.. you need it on the weekend, they had a booth
I can clearly remember this booth
Banging
I do like how all those drivers are sealed from behind so the big midbass does not affect them.
Amazing, Pioneer had some crazy looking 6x9's but these are from another planet
I do see a few Bluetooth audio connections there at 6:14. 🤣 I would send a picture if TH-cam would allow it in the comment section. Fantatic vidio as always..
They look really cool I’d probably run them just for that cool factor
Those orange surround 2 way spark o's were the shit back in the day
I thought they reminded me of the "Sparks" too!
I remember these speakers from back in the 70’s when they were very popular
it's like an immaculate conception of connections with that McIntosh producing an eargasm of epic proportion for our audio pleasure 🙏 ☺️
"Golden Child"
comes to mind.
😂
I like them would buy as a curiosity for speaker collection.
I thoroughly enjoyed the facetiously colored factually inferred descriptives such as reproduction capable only with the most amazing speakers in the world, ever!
A highlight of my afternoon to watch your presentation of these randomly spotlighted speakers from a place best forgotten sir!
Please, rest assured, what you're doing and the way which you accomplish it is appreciated, it's completely correct, and you should never stop mixing up your items selected and the angle from which you present them!
Thank you so much, if I wasn't broke I'd send you money sir!
Man, I gots tah gets me some of that stuffs!
Awesome setup😂
My hat’s off to you for featuring the silliest expression of the “multi-axial” theme. I wonder how many of those tweeters actually have wires going to them. I recall that some of the flea market 6x9’s had purely decorative tweeters. Many of us back in the day drove GM coupes that had 4x10s in the rear deck. My very first system featured a set of tri-axial Audiovox 4x10s that I was very proud of. It would be interesting to see a similar video of a set of 4x10s since they generally used the same motors as the 6x9s and would also try to cram as many drivers as they could on them.
Near the end of the video I noticed that some of the tweeters have only one side hooked up - I was curious if those were somehow bridged between eachother because I was expecting at least a wire between the various negatives that were otherwise unhooked.
@@Fredrovicius I tore down a few like these back in the day and often only the “midrange” was actually a working driver. The others were were sometimes working piezo tweeters or just plain dummies with wires attached. They followed the pattern of flea market ghetto blasters.
Ha-ha! This was absolutely terrific! Well done!
they are hekken friggin sick dude
$15 ported enclosures from Best Buy for the win! I grabbed a pair of those for my JBL GT122 subs. They are too small and tuned too high but at least I can bump them from time to time in the garage. I seriously couldn't buy wood and carpet to build the enclosure that cheap.
Im suprised the amp didnt call 911 to report a serious crime taking place
How awesome did they really sound though? I might get some for my model y
I can just see a set of these mounted on a bicycle in some small town in Bangladesh.
I would totally be happy with a 3 way!
Lawd hammercy
He better be cute tho...
Can I sit in the corner and watch while I do stuff to myself? 😂
@@darksu6947I've been told that specifically increases your chances of achieving that goal
Dam saw some very similar to those yesterday at a flea market
Probably sounds awesome
Have you tested, or considered testing, the HiFonics TPS-A600.5 mini amp yet?
Very funny, Mr. Diculous! 🤣🤣. Omg and funkies too..🤘
I'm totally jealous 😮
Big D , r you going to dyno the d4s mm 1005 when it hits ???
In your professional opinion what would you say is the top big dog of receivers. I used to own a pioneer premier deh - p960mp I wish I could find that deck again. Any chance of you doing a review on the premier series?
You know as well as I do that that Mc amp deserves the best drivers you can pair up with it. Hope we get to hear something more worthy in a future video, hopefully.
I'm super jealous of that McIntosh amp. I'd love to have one in that kind of condition. It's real purdy...
Thanks
Those would look great right next to my Mind Blowers!!
What do you think of mb quart speakers?
Do yall ever test under seat powered subwoofers?
Dang man I think I heard those funky pups here in Texas
Good job Mr. Dick RiCulous, thanx for your videos, your very funny & have great editing skills😂, do you use a particular program?
Please make a track list of the music being played
Boom! Lol funky pups for the win!
Nice 1
Pioneer , 6x9 , the Mind Blower, 100 watt amplifier on both speakers !
These sound so good, PS Audio is jealous!
Lol @ Funkypups!
I can tell you that Big Wizzy Bass of Halloween had them Funky's smelling funky after a few minutes. I was afraid I had sealed their fate, but I think they are ok for now
HA!!! Fascinating and lol.
Thanks as always and regards.
I think it's a common misconception that you have to pay a lot of money for great sound.
Thats hilarious! Mid/early April of this year I saw those EXACT ones and my first thought was "I should text Dereck to get these!.... Eh, bet he already has a set." LMAO!
Thanks for thinking of me!
@WillistonAudioLabs Do a review on the B2 audio 12" V2 RAGE subwoofer
Thanks for the suggestion
기대가 됩니다.
Just when I thought I had seen it all 😂 👏🏼
Have you ever one a system for a motorcycle or side by side? Obviously, it would have to be compact and efficient. I have not built a system since Orion was new to the market so I may be a little out of touch.
Yeah I think that what they meant by 2" voice cords is either 2 - 1" voice cords side by side or 1" above the woofer and 1" below the woofer to the terminals block and that's in my 2 cents on the matter. BTW excellent video review
Im not much for 6X9 series but the American bass SQ series 3 way is an amazing speaker i have some od the 2 ways i replaced my focal 2 way coaxials with them that's how badass they are. They thump big time as well i actually hooked them up to some focsl crossovers and damn!!!
Mr. Richard Riculous, for us hardcore car guys, could you give us the details on that beautiful blue paint job behind you? Thank you, sir.
I would never but i love the video thumbs 👆
I'd ask for a peek at that 5 way crossover network, but I think we got it already.
I have a challenger for you , back in the day 1976 circa there was a 6x9 with amplifier built in there was no no need of a preamp or a woofer at all and easy to connect for only 69$ they called mindblowes I don’t know who made it. But if there were on the market today I would installed in on my cars. Can find out if there is something similar ? Thanks
Dream speakers… back in the day
I probably saw those back in the 80s at the Gibraltar trade center who knows Taylor ,Mi
BJCC in B'ham AL for me.
The last time I seen a nine way was at my works Christmas party. It involved ALOT more plastic and everyone walked funny the next 3 days. Best girls night out ever....😆😆😆😆😆
I’d like to know if xtant subs were good. Just seen them in soul plane and I always wanted to hear them
