Guilt is a powerful emotion. Years go by and I believe many parents stay away because the feel they don’t have the right to be in their childs life. They know they have let them down and don’t know how to fix it.

Women back forty to fifty years ago had all the power when it came to keeping their children. My children’s father was a good man who cared for his children and I took them from him. I realised ten to twenty years later how hurt he must have been. Thankfully he had a second family and I have always encouraged our two children to have a positive relationship with him. A long time ago I apologised and he was very kind and said he had forgiven me. I luckily have had a good life but always lurking is the hurt I caused a good man and two beautiful children.

@@farrahfrench7690what a crappy thing to comment when the lady has already acknowledged her role and apologised for it. It takes a big person to admit their downfalls, and try and rectify it. I was a kid in the 80's and that's how it was. Dad's weren't encouraged to be dad's the way they are now. Shame on you for trying to shame someone who has already asked for forgiveness.

Long ago, in the late 1970's I took part in a series of what was commonly labeled "personal growth" classes. One of the exercises we did was staring into the eyes of each person in our group. So glad to see this hasn't died and that it is being used in what I consider a more appropriate application. Congratulation on the success of this experiment.

In both of these cases we aren’t given a full picture of what happened between the father and mother! Toxic women have been around for ages. These men could have felt they had no choice but to move on or be destroyed by a vindictive wife! No one will ever know the full story. These folks need to heal and move forward. No one is perfect, people make decisions out of fear. I’ve no doubt these men were in fear of something, even if it was defeat! Don’t judge, this is TV. Nothing is as it seems.

some women alienate their children then weponize the kids against the ex partner in every legal way possible the legal system is rigged against men my only hope is that i never get involved with a woman who would do that type of thing to me when i finally start a family
