    Hi! This brought back so many memories of being in SE Asia, including some food poisoning. Some more tips that I didn't perfectly follow but are good: Generally avoid pre-cut fruit and leafy vegetables, fried foods tend to be the safest, and it's always good to watch them make it in front of you to know it's fresh. In Vietnam, you can ask for your leafy greens to be dumped in boiling broth, which can kill the germs -- like for Bun Cha. Be suspicious of ice without the hole in the middle, the hole indicates it was made in a factory, vs. ice that's like a shard or appears to be cut off a big block is more sus. Also, wipe your silverware/chopsticks before you use them, learned the hard way that you can get a water-borne amoeba from dishes that have been washed with contaminated water. Also learned if it's more than 2 days or so, just go to a clinic for some meds, it can help clear it up so much faster! Finally, some interesting info from a family member that's an infectious disease doctor: even if you ate the exact same food, one person can get sick because the contaminated part of the food can be small as a single bite. Love the vids y'all! Best travels :)

    what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in South East Asia - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!

    Keith: I am so sorry that you've been sick! It sucks to feel horrible when you are not at home. And Dev: how do you manage eating at all the random food stalls with celiac? Traveling stresses me out because of the food situation (and I travel a lot). I am celiac and very sensitive--so cross contamination gets me every time. Do you have any special advice?

    • @KeithandDev
      @KeithandDev  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeanne, sometimes finding food I can eat can be tricky. So sometimes it means sticking to the basics. Another thing we have done is a food tour early into a new country so the guide can help me understand new foods I can eat. I was plesently surprised how much gluten free food there is in Vietnam! Also google translate is amazing to help with communicating with resturants and people about it :)

    Guys take care 🙏🍚🥕🍌💦 good diet and rest so important while traveling. I am wishing you lots of health and good time exploring.Thanks for sharing about travel nurse and visa situation. I would be very interested in hearing about what medications you took with you. I also think it is super important as we had some of similar experiences. Maybe also water filter? You can get sashets or tablets. Stay well, you are so great to watch! 🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀
