my fav travel was 24L sea to summit bag, 9 months, south east Asia, one fast dry towel, sandals, 10 boxers, 5 socks (mostly used sandals), 3 shorts 10 t shirts, one iPhone. one passport. I bought toiletries whenever I landed in a. new country. felt so freeing and light
That does sounds like a really nice light way to travel! Thats awesome! With our filming gear we always have a bit extra :)
I went from a 45 litre, down to a 35 litre, and then down to a 21 litre backpack that can convert into a duffle bag. I also carry a small crossbody sling with my essentials.
21 litres plus a 3 litre crossbody. Carry on only.
Instead of a Kindle, I use book apps…(including the Kindle app) on my iPad Mini. My iPad Mini and my iPhone 13 mini do all I need.
Months at a time in tropical South Asia. Love it. Thanks. 🌴 ☸️ ✈️
71…And still traveling. This time I might just stay and live in South Asia .
Hi Robert, thats amazing you are still travelling so much, Keith and I hope to be doing the same when we are your age :) Its true especially in SE Asia where it is so warm you can definitly downsize your bag. Keith and I both said if were were to do another few months here we would bring less clothes.
Enjoy your travels and thanks for watching :)
First of all, I am amazed how much stuff you are able to fit in 35L sizing. Secondly, I sympathize with your issues with carry-on limitations in Asia. Recently flew to Philippines from Canada. Air Canada of course does not check sizing nor weight for personal item and carry-on. Both my wife and I had backpacks for personal items and roller bags for carry-on itself…plus of course checked baggage at one piece each. On the return trip, partner airline Asiana decided they wanted to weigh BOTH personal and carry-on items. Took 3 attempts in the airport to repack heavier items in the checked luggage and then pay overweight fees. Truly the way of thinking in North America right now is polar opposites to Asia. NA-go carrry-on because they lose luggage. Asia-just trust them not to lose it. Asian airline excuse-need to keep the plane balanced. Well then, how come that doesn’t matter in North America? I guess one way to save weight is to eliminate roller bags…which is generally a good 7 lbs on average…and then really maximize on the backpack storage. I still marvel at how much you did pack. I can certainly see items there that I hadn’t thought of. Really enjoyed your video!
We are so sorry to hear about your carry-on weight delima Arlen. The more we take flights the more we realize that sometime its just the person at the desk. If we can check in online we do that to aviod going to the desk as we know our bags fit in the overhead bin and if we have to go up to check in we try and go to the chillest looking person. Or We havent had to yet but our other idea is put our heavy stuff in a third bag that we keep on us when they way out backpacks. Thanks so much for watching Arlen :)
I love how detailed it is and how you are filming it close-up. 😍🥰👍👍👍 Will share this in my social media platforms. Thank you again, Keith and Dev. Thank you for making me so happy today - I have a new video as an inspiration.. My son and I will be travelling 2 weeks from now and we will also be using backpacks. 😊 👍🥰😍🙏💕✨

I have a new backpack and I was re-evaluating a few of my newer purchases ie med kit and a small collapsible tupperware container like yours. Cheers for helping me decide whether or not to keep them.
One of our favourite pieces, great call! Glad we could help! Thanks for watching! 😊
I went from a big suitcase to a 28 liter backpack. I'm going to Mallorca this week for Summer vacation. And I just packed my backpack and it's 4 kilo! I have to small crossbody bag for my passport, phone and tablet and some snacks.
Nice! That sounds like a solid job for packing what you need and minimally :)
I remember the previous what's in my bag was my first video of you. I was so surprised that you took SO much clothes Dev. You look always so pretty and good but yes that was too much the first time right haha. Now you did much better! Impressive!
Haha yes I have definitely downsized my clothing for sure! :) for the most part really happy with what I brought this trip also so much more space 🙏
The medicine kit and 1st kit info here is nice
We are so happy you found it helpful :)
I love your energy guys ! I saw your first two packing videos last week, and now this one, it's great to see how you changed your way of packing. And helpful tips and recommendations in the video and here in the comments, I see Side by Side ships in Europe, I may use your discount code, thanks ! :p
I don't usually enjoy watching travel video from people I don't know, but as your packing videos were super helpful and you seem super nice I'm subscribing :) If you are still in latin america in 2024 we may run into each other haha
And also I love how you respond to every comment, even some that ... don't seem to realize you are acual human beings producing these videos all on your own :)
Thank you so much for such a nice message Lisa, it really means a lot to us 🥰 we really love our side by side gear so hopefully if you get some you will too! We are so happy to have you along for the adventures and hope you will enjoy our other videos as well 😊
Hey guys love your video! By far the best one I have watched!
where is your shopping bag from and also your collapsible green and grey bag? Thanks!
Hi there, we are so happy you liked our video and hopefully found it helpful :) the green and grey backpack is from a Canadian store called SAIL I believe they ship internationally if you are not from Canada here is the link: www.sail.ca/en/sail-light-packer-10-l-hiking-backpack-764187-18-201380001
That is so helpful! Thank you. Where did you find the grocery bag? Or what brand is it!
We are so glad you found the video helpful Manda :) The grocery bag is actually an IKEA grocery bag!
Just came cross y’all videos today and I’m loving them ^_^ I tend to overpack and this is very helpful by helping me to downsize everything 😅. I do have a question about our monthly female essentials, could u please do a video on how u pack and deal with it while traveling? Thank you so much for sharing. From: TX
Hi Jaynette, we are so happy you found our channel and have found our videos helpful :) In terms of female essentials the diva cup is a great option because then you an reuse it and you dont have to go out looking for products in new countries or carry around lots of extra stuff.
Do love a packing video! New Subscriber. Although NOT a minimalist lol, on the opposite side of the spectrum as an Engineer, I pack for self sufficiency lol. Warm regards from the UK, DP
Thanks for watching and joining us! Absolutely, do what you want! To each they’re own. We’re told we’re not minimalist enough all the time haha! But we like how we pack so it doesn’t matter 👍 safe travels! 😊
I really enjoyed this. Where did you buy that stuffable neck pillow?
It’s a fantastic idea, for some of the bulkier items.
We are so happy you liked our packing video :) we actually got the stuffs le neck pillow with a down jacket from Costco. If can with the jacket. I bet if you looked it up you might be able to find it online? :)
Something you should look in to (if you are ever running out of liquid space for your carry on) is that they make that same wilderness wash as little strips! So they won't count towards your liquid 🤗 Also just curious about not bringing a sweater because that's a debate we are having for our upcoming trip. I've heard that in certain places (busses, trains, etc) they blast the A/C. Is that true?? Have you found you've gotten cold and wished you had it??
We do have a little shampoo and soap tabs that we use sometimes! They aren’t very concentrated but do work! In terms of a sweater, I have the merino long sleeve and thin hoodie i can layer (only in Vancouver) and dev has a thin zip up sweater (she has worn in on the heavy ac train, airplanes, and at night on hike days). I don’t need the sweater personally, those too tops are enough in case. Hope this helps!
@@KeithandDev Helps a lot! Thanks 😁
A lot of newer, higher end laptops can charge off of USB-C, so you just need a power brick that pumps out enough juice (PD 60W or more usually). I replaced my bulky charger with a small 100W mutliport (3 usb-c 1 usb-a) brick and it's been great; can also charge my phone and camera at the same time.
Funny you mentioned this! (My charger actually got stolen while we were travelling) that is exactly what we use now and we love it! Thanks for sharing :)
As always, a terrific video! Also, I wanted to caution you about Advil. Some of its products contain gluten (ugh) and they say that they can't guarantee that all of their other products are gluten-free due to cross contamination issues. Personally, I react to Advil, so I switched to Motrin.
Oh interesting! Okay we’ll look into that! Thanks for watching! 😊
Hi guys! Your video is reeeeeaaallly helpful as I'm going to backpack in Thailand and I really needed it :) can I ask you few links about some stuff you mentioned in the video? Like:
- the blow up pillow
- first aid kit container
- water filter
- wallet (is it RFID?)
- dry sack
Thank you! 🥰
Hi Ilenia, sorry it took us so long to get back to you!
Our drysack is sidebysidegear.com/ use KEITHANDDEV10 for 10% off :)
We have water tablets which you can get at any outdoor store
The blow up pillow we got for Christmas but is also from a canadian store called CAA
Our first aid kit is actually a Columbia RFID wallet that we took a first aid kit like this from amazon www.amazon.ca/First-Aid-Central-Piece-Compact/dp/B08KXH3P7P/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?crid=3LISJ6JO4H4DJ&keywords=small+first+aid+kit&qid=1698237895&sprefix=small+first+aid+kit+%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1 and moved it into this www.columbia.com/p/mens-rfid-security-wallet-HUM0052.html for space.
My wallet is the same as the first aid kit so it is RFID :) our passport case is also RFID
Hope all of this helps :)
thank you!@@KeithandDev
Fantastic, love it! Out of curiosity how much do your bags weigh? And do you ever find that a problem with carry on? Here in Australia some airlines are very strict with 7kg limit of all carry on items 😬 and they weigh bags at the gate regularly!
We do not know the exact weight of our bags, but with our computers, gear and water bottle definitely over 7kg 🙈
So far both in Europe and Asia we have found everyone to be pretty lax. We try to book flights where we can check in online so we do not need to go to the desk. Our bags don’t look big so usually don’t get flagged. If we do have to go to the desk we have them on our backs and often they don’t even ask them be weighed. If we know an airline is strict we will put our heavy stuff in a grocery bag and go up separately to check in and the other persons stays with the heavy stuff. We actually have not had to do this yet! But it’s our backup if we see people’s carryons being weighed and it being strict :)
@@KeithandDev haha that’s a great plan! It’s common with Jetstar to see people frantically putting on hundreds of extra layers at the gate after being told their bags are too heavy 🤣
@@KeithandDevYes, carrying the laptops separately is probably one way. Actually with my previous comment, that is one tactic that I used to finally pass through re-pack round 3. Next time I think I may decided to down-size my tech sizes. MB Air maybe…
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 💍 ❤
Thank you Milagros :)
What rain jackets do you recommend/use
Keith has a Northface jacket which is really great but bulkier, mine is one that can be packed really small but is not as high end!
Dev, which PacSafe purse are you using in this video? Thank you.
Hi Jen, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I was just checking the website and they dont seem to make the one I have anymore. I think this is the new version of the bag :Pacsafe® GO anti theft saddle crossbody pacsafe.com/collections/crossbody-bags/products/pacsafe-go-anti-theft-saddle-crossbody :) I do really like the bag and can fit alot in it!
@@KeithandDev Thank you so much!
I forgot to include this in the last comment but I was also curious if you two mainly just workout in whatever accommodation you are in or do you find gyms to go to? That was my biggest struggle on the last trip!
Both! We workout with our bands and towels and what we have in whatever space we have and also try hard to find cheap accommodations with gyms!
What does it all weigh when packed ? As I see from the specs for the Peak Design 45l that itself weighs a whopping 2kg empty.
We don’t know the exact weight of our bags when fully packed but definitely more than 7KG that being said we haven’t had any issues with any airlines yet in Europe or Asia :)
Hey, where did you get the foldable day backpacks?
We got them from a store called SAIL. It is a Canadian store we think but they have a website and might ship internationally if your not from Canada :)
Damn you guys bring a lot of clothes hahaha I’ve seen people travel with 5 T shirts and be fine. I’m going traveling in January I think I’ll stick with just a few
Two each there own. We found this amount of clothes works with us especially when we are moving quickly and don’t have time for laundry. :) we did find we had to much warm clothes for the time of year we were in SEA
Quick question... why do you still use the Macbook and Dell chargers? You can get much smaller chargers nowadays and most computers will charge though USBC. Look for GaN chargers.
We will look into that! I think that because we already had our chargers we didn’t think about it. My charger block has since been stolen and we are sharing Keith’s so I will look into that for the future. Thanks :)
Please share the link to buy your sling bag
Thanks
Here is the link for the sling bag: peak-design.pxf.io/DK3kx2 sorry for the late response!
I see you use a heavy LaCie harddisk. Why not replace it with a much lighter SSD drive, like the Samsung T7 Shield?
We will look into that! We really like the LaCie because it’s so durable with all our travelling but thanks for the option we will look in to it :)
Where can i find the collapsible bowl?
Hi Eve! Link in the description, here’s where we got it amzn.to/3MB4jOx.
Thanks for watching!
Never thought to charge things with my drone batteries
We used to bring two battery chargers and now with the drone only bring one other charger :)
@@KeithandDev I will give that a try
Where do you get your grocery bags?
Ikea :)
@@KeithandDev i thought they only sale furnitures and meatballs
Keiths bottoms looks all the same 😂
Lol they do don’t they haha 😂 the travel colour pallet
ขอให้เดินทางปลอดภัย แล้วกลับมาเที่ยวเมืองไทยอีกนะครับ ❤🙏
Thank you so much! We hope you will continue adventuring with us :)
How do get away with over limit weight of carry-on bags,
We actually had no issues. We think because they are on our backs when we are at the gate people assume they are not heavy. We also try to check in online as much as we can to avoid going to the desk where they weigh the bags :)
Keith should only wear just swim trunks all the time! 😊❤️🇹🇭
Hahaha 😝
Keith - Where did you hide the engagement ring?
I hid a little ring box with the engagement ring in my one pair of long socks haha yeah it wasn’t always easy keeping that hidden from Dev looking back now!
🥰🤗🥰🤗
Thanks so much for watching ♥️
What is the brand of your foldable packpacks?
Hi! Our little backpacks are from a store called SAIL. Thanks so much for watching! Here’s a link www.sail.ca/en/sail-light-packer-10-l-backpack-764187-18-201380001

We are so happy to here you say that :)
So it helps to have no sense of style 😊
Ouch
Please try to keep the echo low. It makes hearing you speak not comfortable at all. Thanks.
Thanks for the input, we travel light as you can tell so we only have one mic. Hopefully you were able see past the eco and find this helpful. Thanks for watching!
A lot of stuff , much to much I think. Too many tops and bottoms and way too many bags. Well it is not a travel as a minimalist but you could do with a lot less.
Hi Globtrott74! Yeah you can always downsize for sure but at a certain point there are diminishing returns. We rather not have to do laundry every day and have a few days worth of outfits. You can survive with less but it can make your life more complicated and less practical we find for us. Thanks for watching!😊
Annoying.
Hi Benjamin, thanks for watching! Sorry you found this annoying though, hopefully it was helpful to some!
Very good information but constantly adjusting your shirt was soooooo distracting for me. I think I’m developing TH-cam ADHD 🫤
Haha those are meant for transitions, hmm TH-cam adha, I think I have that too 😆 thanks for watching!
