I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned, but the easiest way to avoid taxi scams is to use Bolt or Grab. You can summon an ordinary car or taxi that way, but knowing the price will be set in the former case and be by the meter in the latter. No haggling required.

My first trip to Asia was to Bangkok and Phuket. Since then we have been there at least 19 times. On our last day of our vacation, we went to an Italian restaurant…yes Italian. The waitress was probably no older than 16. She skipped to our table. Both food and service was fantastic. The cost of the meal for 2 was about 12USD. I gave her the equivalent of $20 USD. When she came back with the change I motioned for her to keep the change. I spoke very little Thai and she spoke no English. A beautiful smile adorned her face. She put the money in her pouch, placed her hands together, tilted and bowed her head. She took two steps back and repeated the gesture. Honestly, while the sights and tastes of Thailand were more than enough to bring us back, it was that young girls gesture of kindness and thanks that sealed our desire to return. Sadly we never got her name and I can’t remember the restaurant name. I often wonder what became of her and wish her much health, wealth and happiness

As a Thai spending most of my years in Bangkok I would say your video super informative and helpful especially for the first timer. My little suggestion is maybe you can split your days staying in the hotel both in Old town and in the CBD (Silom/Sukhumvit) for example 1N in OT and 2Ns in CBD or 2 nights each for 4 days trip. And consider Ratchathewi district where Phaya Thai BTS station is located. You can stay at the hotel near Phaya Thai or few BTS stations away from Phaya Thai so it’s connected to the Airport Rail Link you can go back to the airport within 1 hr. The area is relatively less touristy, less scam and easily to transport via BTS green line. Also you can explore Ari district where there are so many good cafes and restaurants and not far from Chatuchak weekend market (Soi Ari at Phahon Yothin road not Ari on Sukhumvit road). There’re lots of things to do and foods to try in Bangkok so you can even spend a week there! Welcome to Bangkok and Thailand guys 😊🇹🇭❤️

My God, this is ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I wish I had seen this video as I JUST came back from my BKK trip. Granted, I had an incredible time there despite winging it, but for my next trip, I'll be using this video as a guide. I recommend Tara's Place in Phra Nakhon. 10 min walk to Khao San rd, and home to the best massage parlor (legit massage lol, not "happy ending"), and one of the best local Thai restaurants I've eaten at. Massage parlor is called Greenhouse Thai, and restaurant is called "KiN at Samsen". There's a fantastic coffee shop in the immediate area called Suriyon Old Town if you need caffeine. 10/10 would recommend the area I stayed in.

Wow. Other than a few strange pronunciations (is this AI?) you nailed it and fast. ALL TH-camrs could learn a thing or two about editing from this. No long boring bla bla bla and average camera work. And I don't really want to see your face on a video. Just the facts please. I have transited through BKK 50 times and stayed in it for three or more days 35 times - ish. That's starting in 1993 and MUCH has changed in the way of transport. It was dizzying last time I was there in 2024 to try and figure out the transit options to get to the Coldplay concert but this video nails the systems with easy to understand graphics. BKK has done an amazing job and once the highway to Hua Hin and points south is done one could do a video like this on freeways (though it would really only benefit those of us driving there so probably won't happen). The freeway system (above ground) is somewhat amazing as well. Bang on Tim. I have subscribed. I can forward this to all my friends coming in. One note however....I travel with enough bags to pass on the rail line into the city, still preferring to go to ground level and take a taxi directly to my destination. On this we can disagree. Try going down the from platform level with your bags to street level and then getting a taxi to your final destination. The taxi from the airport (with required 50 baht extra) and tollways is still under 400 baht to the centre. So....why bother if you have bags? Make sure you go outside and go through the line to get a taxi ticket. DO NOT get befuddled into an airport limo taxi service after getting your bags. Those are $$$. I know- you're tired and it's confusing but just get out into the main area and down to ground level and out the door where you will find taxi queues at each end with a ticket person in a booth.Tell them your destination and they assign a driver to you. Take the tollways when asked, pay the tolls and stay above ground. Direct to your hotel door. Do not get taken to ANY shops or stops along the way and demand the meter gets started. If you are obviously new this might be tried. Otherwise you could take that airport line, get off at the end or sooner and go down to street level and hail a taxi but you might find that by the time you get to your hotel you had wished you had gone direct from the airport.
