    Superb explanation of how tow works guys. Can't wait to try it. (When these blimmin massive winds we got here in France decide to have a bit of a rest!)

    Thanks Jamie and Andy for a very interesting feature on wind verseing tow ,wind left to right and tow right to left, a underwater feature would be a great way to see where your maggots/ casters/groun bait end up.
    Keep up all your great work, and congrats to Richard for the great camera work and putting up with you two lol.

    Wish I had watched this before I went fishing today. Mind blown! Had exactly those conditions today and scratched about for 3 fish. Will be putting this to test next time out and conditions are same. Keep up the great work lads. Everybody likes to see that!!!👍

    I've watched loads and loads of these videos.. i've not commented before .. but if your bait is moving with the tow you need your rig to do the same ... take into account the line and the where your weights are leading your hook baits ... i would shot under ALL the bulk under the float with a tiny weight near your hook length to work out the tow then string your shot accordingly. Thank me later. BIG love, Squirrel ... p.s its like rolling bait on a river.

  • @MrRoger1979
    @MrRoger1979 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would using the tapered shot rig work if you simply held back on the float, so the float couldnt 'boss' the shot?

    Great video - explained tow to me, and how to manage with it, in an understandable way for the first time. Also how fortunate that Andy now has access to some round bodied floats ! Come on the Power (float). I have some in my float tray waiting to me made up, and now I know what I need them for :D

    Im a little confused...when laying the positive rig in is the bait to the right of the float?, so it would be traveling behind the bulk, or to the left so the bait is in front of the bulk, hope that makes sense?

    Great video once again :) , the only thing was I found it difficult to see the float tip, so with that in mind would you use a thicker bristle if so what sort of thickness would you use?

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re on about on screen, make sure you are watching it in 4k resolution. TH-cam compression struggles with ripples on water.
      Obviously sensitivity is a big part in all silvers fishing, those are a 1.5mm hollow tip so you should be able to see them in most conditions and are about as thick as you’d want to go for silvers.

    • @michaelgray1351
      @michaelgray1351 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WinningWays Thanks Richard for the explanation will see if I can get my laptop to show it in 4K and watch it again 👍Thanks for the info regarding tip thickness will give that a try. Look forward to more videos. Tight lines Michael 😀

    How long does the tow take to stop after the wind stops? Is it related to the size of the lake & maybe how long it's been windy?...

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a million variable, the only way you really find out what its doing is by putting a rig in.

    Great demo. guys. Read years ago about tow, tried to understand it, but your vid. made it more understandable. Though I was struggling to see such a fine bristle, any advise on how to beat this? 👏👍

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite sure what your asking, if you’re not able to see it on the screen make sure the resolution is upto 4k. It’s just due to how compression works on TH-cam.
      If you’re struggling on the bank, get yourself to the opticians - you wouldn’t believe how many people find out they need glasses through not being able to see floats

    • @Rob-di7uu
      @Rob-di7uu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WinningWays yeah 4k @65” but could not see the bristle with surface ripple, again with new specs last month 🥸 Maybe it the bristle being fine or colour of the bristle could of been cause 🤔 👍

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d double check the TH-cam playback settings, as yes it’s harder to see due to the ripple at times. But you are able to see it especially on a bigger screen. It’s certainly a lot easier to see on the screen than in real life.

  • @matthewstroud4294

    Do they make pole floats where the body is much further underwater? Kind of upside down compared to a normal pole float, so the wind-blown surface layer is not drifting the float along.

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think Drennan do a ‘drift beater’ waggler which is similar to that. Not seen many pole floats like it in the UK

    • @richardbedford169
      @richardbedford169 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maver did do long pole floats back in the day... you had to take the tip out to put them on your winders... called maver drift pole float..

    Hi there , got a question for you , I like my carp fishing always says fish follow wind , so do they follow under tow??
    Cheers

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carp go where they are most comfortable, so there are way more factors involved than just wind/undertow. Food, shelter, temperatures depth etc. and it’s down to us to work it out each time we go fishing.

    Do we actually know that the loose feed has moved on the tow? Or, could the fish be sitting "upstream" of the bait because of the tow, like they do on rivers? It could be a wrong assumption that the bait is migrating along the bottom.

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously every day is different so it’s about working it out on the day by looking at the conditions and where you are getting bites to see what is happening.

    • @matthewstroud4294
      @matthewstroud4294 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WinningWays Yes I get that. What I was saying is that if we catch "upstream" of where we baited, is it because the bait moved or the fish moved? I don't expect anyone to have the answer, I just think with the experience of watching river anglers catching upstream of their feed it could be wrong to assume that the feed is actually moving on the tow. If it works, ultimately who cares, but it is an interesting question why. Good videos, keep it up.

  • @johnibbertson2960
    @johnibbertson2960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    i get your meaning jamie, but if you were fishing just bottom if its towing back to left then your rigs off bottom yeh so you would hope to catch the fish really off bottom?

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn’t be off bottom, more being pushed along with the tow.

    Evey day's a school day guys there's a few videos doing the rounds lately of under water footage showing fish behaviour over bait maybe a video showing your rig / bait behaviour would help 👍👍👍

    • @WinningWays
      @WinningWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really viable on commercials, clarity makes it impossible on 99% of those type of venues. There’s pottential to do some bits showing how rigs are reacting but to get fish involved isn’t really viable.

    • @scottandrewjohnmiddleton8676
      @scottandrewjohnmiddleton8676 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WinningWays sorry I didn't mean fish or on a commercial just ment the behaviour of a rig so I suppose any clear water that would show how a rig behaves with wind / tow
