Wharever next .. Rattler on Bradshaw ..Floatin pole on Church gardens .....after a long absense from match fishing due to illness ,i see thing havent changed on Partridge, in the early days on that complex lots of top class anglers wouldnt fish that kind of method,, which is why many drifted away after 12 months or so ...only the very best shine on other venues Bagger, and yourself to name a couple , shame really as Partridge is such a tidy venue..PS great videos with you and Jamie ...keep them coming 😁
Blimey! Stumbled across this and it's like I'm listening to a foreign language (technical details I mean, not accent)! As an old-school, mainly float angler,I have to say, I just couldn't be doing with all this. F1's? jigger? babbie kits? tapping the water with rod-end? weight-builders?? I find it all mind-boggling. Anyhow, each to their own, but it's not angling to me.
I was using the no float rig and the floating pole in the late 90s, and it used to out fish every other method, i never put shot on the line as i always fished mostly carp venues and a 8mm pellet was more than enough. I wish more fisheries would let it be used as it is a devastating method.
We used to use a matchstick float rubber shallow with caster or hemp and bag up on silvers none stop in the mid 80s wouldn't surprise me if that would get banned .Rules for fish care but some rules are ridiculous.
Tell Andy I made and used a mong rig for first ever time at Lindholme on Friday. Too windy but caught a few. No rules now at Lindholme if you hadn’t heard Cheers Eej
Another great vid in Andy's inimitable style. One question.. What would make you up your feed so much (I. E 6 pints of maggots).. Im always hearing about setting a trap for fish, and unless its to feed the bits off, what signs would you be looking for to increase the feed drastically?
We used to do this no float rig 20 years ago on local pools with 3 number 10 down the line and if anyone was moaning we'd tie a match on the line as a half cocked float and crack on with it , and every time I used it it brought back happy memories of passing the day bleak bashing on the Severn as a kid while the old man and my uncle fished there club match, and as I've just got back in to fishing after a ten year brake I think I'll stick to the local canals and park pools wear there isn't a list of rules you can't do that's longer than your arm and the list of what you can do like you see on most commercial fisheries these days when all your doing really is paying to catch and feed the same looking fish all the time your there to save the land owner a small fortune over time
Too many rules nowdays its getting stupid. The only rules there should be is for fish safety/welfare. Why ban something thats catching fish, the chances are after awhile itl get common then stop working so the tactics will change or adapt. I know its the owners lakes but the angler is here to catch fish thats the whole point in there business.
My local should see the list of banned things. No bloodworm even sticky baits products, no leaders, no leads, no balling in, no spoding, no feeders over 50gs, nothing above the feeder so cant fish heli style, no wadding in, no raking and no bait boats.....check that out for stuipd shit haha
as a novice why do you put so many shot on the line when you could put larger shot on , i know you might want to spread them out for a slower fall, but 5 num 8s together could be done with less shot, please explain
Imagine invented a method you cant fail with then getting 50 people to all do it on a lake, not surprised they banned it so lame and boring, destroying the skill of sport.
It is called fishing pal thats the part of it. But if theres anything anglers can do by limiting the stress on any fish then we should AND do and the fish welfare is priority otherwise there is going to be none to fish. We as anglers will do more than anyone or government to help and protect the fish and enviroment we are in while fishing (you do get some dick heads). Its in our best interest, however some rules are just nonsense and not needed

Agree,
Only reason this is possible is because of over stocked commercial ponds.
Stick to traditional methods
2 awesome methods. They are both deadly if allowed. Thanks Andy and Preston for the video. Looking forward to the next video. Tight Lines
Class angler and keeps you entertained
When I was younger fishing matches floating pole would dominate then slowly more fisheries started to ban it.

Carp venues ??? In the 90s ?? Pull the other one

What is the purpose of rules like lash length, no float etc?
Flipping heck !!!

This is just free line i always do this big lumps of bread slow sinking or big ball of paste in the margin

One match lake banned surface fishing because it caught too many fish
Then they banned pellet wag for the same reason
Thats matchmen for you

Less chance of tangles with 3 x 8 than a BB
Brilliant.
Will have to try that one day, i'm not a match angler but Thank you Andy, 👍👍
Will the no float rig work in winter ?
No, fish won't likely be feeding shallow when the weather cools off.
It's the rules we all read them and think why thanks for the info thight lines
What next? Electro fishing top kit with pole-end net? This is all getting silly. Thank god I'm just a pleasure angler. I can't even stand poles lol.
Very informative as always BUT what a horrible way to fish with no float. I have never fished a commercial so don't have that mindset I guess.
A simple method hooking fish fairly and squarely in the mouth I see nothing not to like
Racun 😆
Why would any angler apart from matchmen want to fish like this.
I love it but hate it but love it and love u andy lol o.j lol
Know as the muppet rig but its deadly
Everything is banned now a days its stupid as hell
The guy’s wired but decent vid. 👍
Its wrong to mong.
Totally agree no longer go to Partridge 8 pints casters required. Just stupid Bradshaw rules much better.
thats almost cheating that, good stuff be busy all day.
Imagine invented a method you cant fail with then getting 50 people to all do it on a lake, not surprised they banned it so lame and boring, destroying the skill of sport.
I think it shows how ridiculously over stocked these places are
total bollocks
Fish welfare? Your pulling fish in with a hook through its face or other part of its body if its foul hooked. Who's kidding who?

What about when trawlers drag fish through the sea and kill even the small ones. Its called living and dying.
These fish wouldn't survive or exist without the Anglers?
