OMG! No wonder it screams like a jet engine all time if it can't cool properly! How could Creality miss a such important detail!? After all, their machines have a very good reputation in general and are well known and praised (wich is why I got myself one recently) ,but thats a very dangerous design! Need to fix that promptly on my V2 machine before I start it back up again! At least gonna cut some vent holes in that cover with my Dremel. Not gonna be pretty but its under the machine and I certainley don't want to fry the PSU or in worst case start a fire!

My Ender 3 v2 had all the vents covered, until I saw this video. Now it has a new cover I printed, all the vents are open, and it has a 120mmx15mm slim Noctua fan blowing about 45 CFM. Thanks for heads up! My printer and I appreciate it.

I printed off some spiked feet for mine, mainly because the desk surface isn't perfect. A side effect was it's raised another 10mm and I can print taller feet. I'll be checking the psu cover now though!

I just ordered an Ender 3 v2. I will be modifying the power supply cover to open up the holes right off the bat.

Thank you for the video, did the conversion and as you pointed out, the fan turns on 30% of the time and not at 100%, thank you for bringing some common sense to the flawed design

Wow thanks so much for this video, i had no idea! I was planning on making an enclosure for it and putting the power supply outside anyway. But now i know why my printer has been screaming like that, can't wait to see and/or hear the improvements

As I am reading this, the delivery driver has just shown up with my Ender 3 V2. So thank you for the informative video, and rest assured, your solution will be the very first mod I will be doing to my new printer.

In fact, the most noise comes from PSU. I opted to print a cover for PSU, MOBO and a support for feet, from thingiverse. With arctic 80mm fan, I have no noise from PSU anymore.

Wow!!! Good catch. Recently bought a V2 and this issue is definitely going to be fixed on mine. Thank you! Subbed

From the Meanwell installation manual: "Fans and ventilation holes must be kept free from any obstructions. Also a 10-15 cm clearance must be kept

Definitely a good approach, and you surely identified a few design flaws. If it were my machine, I would probably (1) add vents to the sheet metal on the bottom to match the psu, (2) find a way to align the fan vent better by e.g. making the screw holes slotted (3) increase thickness of rubber pads to raise machine off table (4) add a baffle between the PSU fan and vent holes so that the air doesn't get recirculated like you mentioned (could be as simple as a few pieces of painters tape)

Thanks for the tip. I dremeled and drilled extra holes to make the air flow better. But the fan sound also can travel more freely I think 😉

Very interesting. I've been looking at how to shut this thing up some more, I wouldn't have guessed that Creality would've blocked off air vents so badly. Definitely checking mine out later now.

Thanks for the video upload mate. I had my Ender3 V2 for about 3 months until it decided to cook the PSU. Ordered a new one as Creality are slow at helping me out. A new Mean Well LRS-350-24 costs about $85NZD delivered. I could have gone to Banggood or Aliexpress, but from what I understand is that there are fakes out there.

I'm glad you discussed the hazards of a bottom mounted psu! I was going to bottom mount mine but now I'm fine with it as is
