This is a truth and not only said by Javed Sahab, it's a fact that a region of Punjab has Punjabi language whether there are Hindus , Muslim, Sikh or Christians all speak that regional language. Yes languages are regional and not religious, unfortunately people divided Urdu language as Muslims language it's actually a myth of their minds which became true on ground after foolish people started believing it.

An idiotic thing to say. Urdu's is the language given by Muslims to South Asia. Urdu's imagery, shab-o-rouz, muhabbah/habb, ishq, mahboob, laila-majnun, all comes from Arabic and from Islam. These words are meaningless without the original meaning from Islam. Only people who are uneducated in the history of Islam say such nonsense like javed.

Urdu is only a bit spread in Faislabad, Lyallpur,Lahore sector. Urdu is long dead in Pakistan, even the songs produced, TV, Films shows are mostly in Punjabi or Fusion. I recently watched Imran Khan's live broadcast after Pulwama Strikes & Wing Commander Abhinandan was arrested in POK, heard him speaking most of the time in Punjabi, even DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor was speaking more of Punjabi over Urdu

Urdu is one of the most beautiful language in the world like Sanskrit. Earlier days, most of movie had beautiful dialogues in Urdu and all our best and beautiful songs were in Urdu since the writers were masters in Urdu. Urdu is language which has lots of respect, humbleness etc and its like a flow of water. And it was only due to Hindi films that 90% of Indians who do not know or understand Urdu language became well versed with the wordings of the language and the beauty of it and thats why Ghazals were such a craze that every body in India could understand and appreciate it. However, these days one hardly finds using Urdu language as Hindi films language has changed and its become more of a fusion mix language which is not pure either in shudh Hindi or Urdu. Basically literature language from Hindi is gone and lost. And I even doubt whether the new generation youngsters of Muslim community ever follow or learn Urdu language and literature except using its words in day to day communication. And hence we see the beauty of Urdu language being lost. We are lucky though that greats like Gulzar and Javed Akhtar keeps alive the flame of Urdu language in our film industry. Ofcourse, when every other language of the world are dying a slow death since today people do not read and follow literature dedicatedly and follow bad English blindly in the belief of development, so Urdu language might also not escape this wrath sadly. If at all we have to save languages like Urdu and other Indian languages, these have to be made compulsory to be taught till 12th standard or Graduation and mandatory to pass in this subject.

Peace Be Upon You all, with due respect! I'm from Pakistan and usually I hardly make comments on YT videos. To be honest, I respect Sir Javed Akhtar, and also every religion for sure, but here apart from other things I'd just react to Javed Akhter's statement denying (TNT) "Two Nations Theory" I mean how he can just simply say that the Two Nations Theory was wrong only because of the matter of Urdu? I'm from Pakistan and I do believe that languages belong to the regions, not religions. And as far as the Two Nations Theory is concerned the matter of Urdu language would might be one of a few points, but it wasn't the only main point of Two Nations Theory. Actually the real motive behind the Muslim's Freedom Movement was the Ideology of Pakistan, and that was obviously the religion (Islam). And no doubt that time in subcontinent generally Muslims were used to speak Urdu (and believe me or not, still people can see that in India Urdu speakers are considered as Muslims, and no doubt they are, that is why this is being questioned in this show as well, but now Urdu has its influence over other languages being spoken in urban areas of India) and also seeing this in the context of the struggle of us Muslims for a separate homeland I don't think so that its fair to say something rough about the basic Ideology of Pakistan even after witnessing the BJP's current state policies and the situation of minorities specially Muslims in India.
