I would love to see the baby duramax 2.8 go into one of these land cruisers. Love the 80 series landy! The 2.8 duramax in my gmc van has been awesome so far. Almost 30mpg in a gmc savana 2500 is amazing. Great work on this project, really impressed.

So I have thought about swapping a cummins into my 100 series toyota but I dont know where to begin, who to ask, or what I'm expected to pay. But this is brilliant! Gives me hope lol

Nice swap. I am working on my second swap, into a Grand Wagoneer. The liquid-filled "tater truck" mounts absorb most of the vibs, (even at idle) I used them in my CJ-7 swap, passengers comment about the noise (mostly in a good way), but never the vibs. Waggy is getting a 47RH... long, but should be ready for the Cummins to bolt on and minimal wiring (lockup), is that the "Dodge" trans you used?
what are your cruising rpms at 60 mph? It sounds like its revving high.
is the 4bt able to connect to the cruise control, oil life indicator, and mpg computer? if so, how much would it cost to install it into a 2013 f150?
Thinking of buying some parts from you guys for this! What transmission and tcase did you use? 47rh? Custom adapter to use 47rh to HF2A?

what kind of MPG are yall getting on stock fj80 cruisers with the 4bt swap?
This motor or a similar motor would be ideal to go into a turn of the century Mercedes G-Wagon. It would increase longevity of the vehicle and at least double the fuel mileage compared to the 5.0L V8 that comes stock.
I want to do a VW TDI on my 80 series. The stock 3F-E 4.0 puts down only 155hp and 220 torque. A TDI with a tune/turbo/injectors can put 180hp and 330 torque to the WHEELS. Plus you can get 30+mpg…
Not enough displacement for a 5k+ lbs vehicle. Those HP numbers mean nothing. You should really consider an OM606 if you want power and fuel economy.
What is the cost difference between the 4 and 6 . If some one was to bring a 1997 lexus lx450 to you to install a 6bt how long would it take to do the job and how much would it cost .If your not worried about speed, do you need a turbo . I use my 97 to get my 3,000 lb ranger boat and trailer to the lake and to pick up and deliver work in the snow . I 'm keeping everything stock as far as wheels and suspension .What kind of mpg is possible for just road use with the 6.
You can dump a bumpy tractor cummins in for cheep and pay out the ear over install and performance issues or dollar up and build a solid and smooth 1HD that will make make all the Toyota fans gather when you open the hood.
Or put a cummins in it and have the cummins fans and the toyota fans smiling. You won't be smiling when you have to buy parts or have the 1HD repaired here in the States. Cheers!!!
@@Jonesys 1HD-T is absolutely beautiful, smooth, efficient, really powerful. But they will give you heartburn if you have to fix one, even in Australia the price is brutal
around 25mpgs. There are so many things that can be done to the 4bt so that will vary.

Yes, we have installed a lot of 6BT's in Land Cruisers.
Why not a 1hdt turbo diesel from toyota? Fj80s overseas actually came with 1hdt engines.
4bt is a better option here in the states. Toyota diesels are also very expensive and don't have the power potential.
Standard 6 cylinder diesel available in most of the world is one of the best diesels ever built, tough and powerful. Have driven many 100000s kms behind them.
The latest Landcruiser now has a v8 diesel. I love Cummins diesels especially the 4bt but not fitted to a later smooth running and driving 80, 100 series cruiser. (Want to do a early 67, 72 F100 with a 4bt)

Awesome performance! It's too bad Toyota never offered a Cummins diesel for their Land Cruiser or the LX450. Between its ruggedness and its fuel economy, it seems a felony that they weren't available for use.
Toyota has it´s own 1HD-T engine, 4,2litre inline-6 turbo diesel

Helvetin esikartano I'm afraid you'd be correct. I haven't seen a North American market diesel Toyota in over 30 years, and I only saw one diesel powered Land Cruiser in person.

is there a standard tranny that can be used in place of the factory auto brain controlled for the cruisers and 4runner with the diesel conversion then you have a full none electronic truck old school is some times better, I'm looking to transform my 97 4runner. and where is your shop.

Custom urethane bushings will make it smooth...
The urethane bushing aren't as good as factory land cruiser bushings
Wow that is not good when the Cummins 4BT vibrates so much
