- Credit Nissan for truly bringing pure EVs to the mainstream 12-years ago with the five-door LEAF. But surprisingly, it has taken Nissan until now to deliver a follow up to their pioneer. So, let’s find out if the all-electric Ariya SUV should inherit the limelight.

Cool to see John still at it after all these years.
Took a ride in one of these at the NYC auto show. Absolutely adored it.
These Ariyas are cool!! They started trickling out of dealers in SoCal, but now, months later I see them ALL OVER L.A. 👍
Not my favorite vehicle in terms of appearance but it is more impressive than I expected
The only thing they are offering is premium. This goes against EV adoption.
Every automaker is betting big on premium crossovers. Even Kia and Hyundai.
You better bet that Chinese automakers will take full advantage of that entry level EV vacuum
Jesus Christ! This prices are getting ridiculous expensive! Boy I guess I haven’t bought a new car in over 8 years! A cheap entry level junk now a day’s can cost you $40 thousand! Yikes 😳
You don't have to spend $40k on a car. There are a few under $20k and quite a number of choices under $25k
Used cars, yes.
Quick, Elegant, and distinctive.
I do not believe any of these or any Leafs have spontaneous combusted. This is another plus for the Ariya. Should have been mentioned.
Mine hasn’t caught on fire yet🤣
You can keep your "modern" buttons (and other controls). I would like to keep physical buttons (and controls) that are in the SAME PLACE every time that I go to use them.
The successor to the Murano.
I have base model aryia, it’s my first ev! Other than this substantial range reduction that comes with cold weather, I am happy with my purchase😌 even though it’s a base model the instant torque is really cool🔥 floor it at 20mph 40mph or 60mph and the thing takes off like a rocket🤣
What do you drive those days?
A Nissan?
You must be doing well in Zimbabwe?
I live in America 😂
I literally just found out about these a minute ago and this is certainly looking like quite an intriguing vehicle. Quite an expensive one of course but what electric vehicle isn’t still?
The way things are now this is underpriced lol
Just did a test drive and review on the Ariya and I love it I just think the battery don’t last as long for my liking.
Awesome!
Best in class for sure!
if that class only includes BEVs from Japanese automakers (like the BZ-4X) yes, otherwise no. The Ioniq 5 and Mach-E are both much better options than the Ariya.

Love John!
It's NOT the follow up for the Leaf. Nissan said that over and over and over. It literally was impossible to miss. The new Leaf will be the follow up to the current one. The Ariya is an upper mid class SUV, and being Nissans premium offering, it is designed to compete rather with Audi, BMW and the likes, whereas the Leaf will be up against VW, Kia, Hyundai etc.. The Leaf was, is and still will be a compact vehicle at a much lower price point.
I was and still am a fan of the Leaf )love the first two gens).
This? I don't know, give me some time.
I’ve got 100,000 miles across two Leafs. No complaints but I would love it if Nissan would sell a OEM longer range battery. Much cheaper than buying a new car (which is why they don’t want to do it I know)
@@bobbbobb4663 ....yeah our ''love'' for them is just consumerism. lol
@@KenanTurkiye No arguments here but my fear is that the structural packs in newer EV’s are going to turn them into disposable cars as the insurance companies are not going to want to insure a repaired battery pack that is also structural. Same logic for the gigapress type architecture that prioritizes assembly over repairability.
@@bobbbobb4663 Well explained ty.
I'm sorry, but $44,000 for a base Nissan Ariya is a bit too much for me. I'm comfortable with $25,000 to $30,000 for a regular car.
…..You know you’re possibly spending $3,000 a year on gas, oil changes, maintenance (or more!) PER YEAR !! Add that up, and over a few years, EVs make total sense. ……Or are you ONLY looking at purchase price?!?🤷🏼♂️
This is worth every penny the way it is
@@eddieg6436 purchase price.
@@eddieg6436 and I own a 2021 Honda Crv hybrid.
Have fun, the available “regular cars” in that price range is shrinking
If you want a power liftgate you are stuck with a moonroof. You can have any paint color you want for the roof, as long as it's black or dark gray. Terrible for warmer climates.
The brown colored one Looks like a hearing aid 😝
Leaf 60kwh battery should be in the base model with 30k price.
I didn't take Nissan a decade to develop another EV, the only reason Nissan made one was because of the general trend of cars because otherwise there wouldn't be a necessary reason to develop an EV SUV.
5:17 proper two tone is actual paint, not the absence of paint due to an over abundance of cheap looking plastic trim everywhere
Was it worth the wait or will Nissan consider a 3rd-gen Leaf?
Platinum is way too expensive.
Stay Long
A person who buys a Nissan Leaf wouldn’t be in the market for this seeing as it costs double and cheap is the reason people buy the leaf..
I never wear jeans on leather interior. I have seen what jeans do to leather after only a year of sliding in and out of a car--bolsters leather/leatherette gets wasted.
How the hell can this compete with a $55k model Y. No way .
Better build quality and reliability and more interesting styling. Also, you’re not enriching an egomaniac.
@@legacyjeetkunedo492 Agree with you re Elon but come on, they had the first commercial EV in 2012 and 11 years later this is the best they can do?
Nissan thinking they are premium I think will be a loosing proposition for them!! Our dealership is sitting on three of these in the 55-62K dollar range and also had a Leaf on display with way less miles and features than my 2019 Bolt Premier for a more expensive price! See ya soon Nissan!!
That's way too expensive for the millage available. EV are just too expensive. Go gas or go home
it should off name name NISSAN MURANO EV
Smallish ranges and high prices and with no tax incentives will place this EV in the back of the pack.
This EV entry from Nissan simply doesn't matter!
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I really enjoyed the video and I'm enjoying my mitsubishi outlander phev because of electric vehicles have one drawbacks my insurance has not changed and Iin apartment buildings there aren't any charge stations
What kind of EV review doesn't address the range of a single charge?
One other complaint is the corny game-show-host narration.
Nissan Ayria = Renault
(Renault owns Nissan, known for Un-Reliability)
Where's the frunk? Tesla has it on all their models. I smell rushed and lazy car design.
Will sell like hotcakes!
Talked to a dealership in Northern CA & they told me that the Aryia is selling horribly since launch, in the region. Not sure if its price or the product itself
They are not as pretty in person
EV …Pass . Nissans reputation . EV pass .
nissan = zero warranty....they scammers
this looks like a plain murano and double the price!! it's a nissan. u dumb if u buy one.
Typical egg shaped sloped roof clone drone EV . All makes come out of wind tunnel tests with the same design conclusion to preserve battery life. Hence boot space sacrificed for the sake of aerodynamics
