Nairobi needs a proper Mass Transit Subway System built either overhead or underground. This business of using old meter gauge infrastructure is not working. The routes are not convenient, passenger volumes are very low, and the trains are extremely slow. The business of putting lipstick on our roads is also not working. BRT is a cheap and bogus fix. If we are serious about decongesting the city, and creating a modern state of the art Mass Rapid Subway Transit System, It will cost $3-4 billion to build, and will link all areas of Nairobi to towns such as Thika, Kiambu, Muranga, Athi River, Machakos, Limuru, and all others in the Greater Nairobi Metro Area. We need to do this in conjunction with Greenfield Airport, and manage all the trains and interchanges from the New Ultra Modern Airport. This also needs to be include a Massive KQ expansion of 150 new aircraft plus a KQ Debt retirement. Allow these three projects to be owned and run under KQ . This can all be financed through a $20 - 30 billion Sovereign Bond, where Kenya Guarantees Investors and KQ repays the loan. This ambitious project will place Kenya on the map with a fantastic state of the Art Greenfield Airport with a 49 million annual passenger capacity, A Modern Mass Rapid Subway Infrastructure for Nairobi Metro Area, and a Massive KQ Fleet Expansion, that will create million of direct and indirect jobs, as well as triple our tourism. If you think small you are going to remain small. If you think and dream big, you will go places. Yes We Can!! Let's Go Kenya. Thank you for the video.
if wishes were horses, we dont have billions required for such infrastructural developments, UK with 4 trillion dollar economy is unable to do HS2 line from London to Birmingham costing £66bn, France is struggling with New Paris Metro for €36 billion ($39 billion) so am wondering how you think $3 billion ca build over or underground metro lines in Nairobi, the old meter gauge railway you are talking about offers excellent potential as it runs through most of Nairobi's suburbs and has 200 feet reserve so it can be dualised and electrified and pack & ride stations built without buying extra land. Metros use narrow gauge rails so even the current rails can work. BRT is rubbish especially if you are going to squeeze it on existing trunk roads like Thika rd, we better improve on our legacy railroads.
The reason why developed countries struggle with big projects is the same reason tomato prices in Kenya are way cheaper than in Britain, Europe or US. 3 billion dollars in Kenya can do wonders for you without corruption and create local supporting industries for the project like local purchase of raw materials to develop the projects and infrastructure. And most of this projects are mostly done through phases to also monitor people behaviour and change so that you can adapt to their needs. Most of the projects in Kenya would have been complete by now if we had an effective government but instead we have a government that only visions on how to create infrastructure projects that can be used as marketing tools for next elections. We need to really rethink our political system
@@josephkamanu7329 true but we must be realistic with our financial capacity, right now we are struggling to fund our universities, hospitals and secondary schools, to get rich we must address our low productivity and invest in high return projects which in our case will be in agriculture. currently we are just talking about roads, ports, rails, metro, affordable housing blah blah without asking what people using those utilities will be doing for living. Hi D-254. I need to take a 10:00 pm Madaraka express to Mombasa. What time does the MGR commuter for this trip leave Nairobi central railway station???
8:10 the car behind almost derailed😆 The Nairobi Commuter Rail network is still limited, as much as there are ongoing efforts to expand it, the progress seems to have stalled due - Limited Innovation, Cash Injection, and NAMATA bottleneck policies. The existing lines have only a few routes & stops and operate a few times a day. However, there is potential for growth and improvement in the future. If they can seriously work on Initiatives like the Roam electric mass transit bus operation (BRT) the Nairobi Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and a comprehensive subway system, I believe this can contribute to enhancing urban mobility in Nairobi, also elevating it to a world-class city.
Am surprised they Kenya Railways still collect cash from passagers it's should be cashless better service and avoid corruption. Watching from the UK 🇬🇧
Collaboration is key for team success. I hate to say this but I don't like the people who sell along the sidewalks. They make the city look untidy/unorganized/congested/boring. I also don't like the views, nothing to be proud of. Inside the train looks old and not well maintained so a lot needs to be done. I'm not hating but remember 2030 is close and this is not where we opted to be 25yrs ago.

It is cashless lol.
I think they still also collect cash because they cater for people like students who do not have mobile payment accounts.
They do both cash and cashless
