Honerable mentions for next one (accidenntally did 15-20) 15:Ryan Preece technically won a heat race for the inaugural coliseum clash, as the winner, Ty Dillon, lost it because of a restart violation 16: Although Justin Haley drove for Kaulig while it started in the cup series, but he only made 1 start with the team's first cup number at the fall talledega race 17:Zane Smith and Ron Hornaday jr 18:Matt Crafton and Regan Smith 19:Elliot Sadler, Mike Bliss, Jason Leffler, and Alex Kennedy 20: races 2-14 were all dnfs
Fun fact about another guy who drove the 6. DK Ulrich, who spent his career as an independent, is the former brother in law of Ricky Rudd, and is the former stepfather of actor Skeet Ulrich, although Skeet considers DK his dad.
When the Ryan Newman crash shown at 5:24 happened , I thought that I had just witnessed another death at Daytona. It’s a miracle that he survived that relatively uninjured.
I think Brad will take the #6 to Victory Lane in 2024 with as much progress as he has made with the team, hell, as much progress as he has made with the entire organization.
For a while, and it was a LONG while, Donald Thomas (who was mentioned as one of the winners for the #9) was the youngest Cup Series winner in history, it took until quite a while into the modern era (I believe maybe into the 2000's? maybe even Logano?) to break his age record. And he didn't even drive the full race, Herb subbed for him partway through.
11-15 11: Brett Bodine and Fireball Roberts 12: Ryan Newman 2003 flip, Hut Stricklin and Brad Keselowski 13: Casey Mears and Max Papis 14: Tony Stewart wins a tiebreaker in 2011, Sterling Marlin and AJ Foyt 15: Michael Waltrip’s emotional 2001 Daytona 500 win, Paul Menard and Lake Speed
And Greg Sacks was known for running those R&D cars at superspeedways super well. I think it was 1989? 1990? he ran the 18 as a second car for Hendrick back when they were a 1 car team at Talladega as an R&D entry and was 2nd to Dale
i am too late now but honorable mention for the 14 (shr era) Mark Martin and Austin Dillon driving the shr 14 in 2013 (the fact that martin drove for 3 diff teams in 2013 is crazy)
I like to think Danica got the real last laugh after the Landica Incident in 2012, cuz she actually did do better in cup than Landon, 1 pole, 7 top tens, 2 All Star fan votes, and never missed a race, Landon has 2 top 5s which are his only top tens in cup, bounced between teams, and a few DNQs. I still think Danica should’ve done something different at Kansas like cutting him off, but history is history. And both learned the first 2 rules the hard way, #1 for her, #2 for him (Expecting revenge without getting revenged)

The youngest driver to ever win a cup race was Joey Logano back in 2009 for JGR at the age of 19. Not much further up was T Bayne at 20.
Correct!

Well, now we have BK as the last winner in the 6

I did too, I kept refreshing twitter every second waiting for an update
I'm convinced he busted his balls
I never knew that Guitar Hero Metallica scheme existed but I love it

Daniel Hemric piloted the 8 for select races in 2018 and won ROTY in the 8 in 2019.
2 facts here: Joe Weatherly's death is the reason the cars have window nets now, and Corey LaJoie and Spire are based out of Alan Kulwicki's old shop.

Greg Sacks’ win was the biggest reason for Bobby Allison leaving DiGard. Actually running that car was it.

@@DoglegMediaMatt Thanks
Richard Petty had to 'rent' DK Ulrich's 6 car and ran it in a race with STP all over it because the 43 didn't qualify or something. Back in the 70s.
